Princess Sammie: You are. You’re first on today’s blog!

Frank Pastore…remember reading this the other day…how he “predicted” what was to come.

Waiting to hear good news from Melanie and Macy this morning.

Pastore!….Wow, great article…sniffle!…You won’t catch me on no motorcyle, not the way people drive out there….grunt!…Just yesterday afternoon someone swerved into my friends lane going 75 miles an hour. Luckily, she was quick enough to swerve away from the jack-ass…snort!

Not surprisingly we here had never heard of Frank Pastore. 55 is too young to go, but he loved motorcycles and knew the risks.
    Still sad.

Hope Macy’s girls are OK. Dark chocolate is the most dangerous type for our kind. We are worried.

Hope things get worked out for Zoe today and that they find a pain killer that works for her.

Barb is heading out to watch Jack’s little Christmas program, then to the grocery store to get a few things before the storm hits. It has been raining for hours, but the snow is supposed to start mid afternoon, They are predicting 6 inches of snow and 50 mph winds with white out conditions. Yikes!

Thanks Spence, That is a good article on Frank Pastore.

Macy, I hope your mom is feeling better this morning. We here know about blowing sand and how sick it can make a person.
    Is Annie okay?

Rebecca, I know I can speak for all of us when I say that none of us wants you to send us a Christmas card. You have too much to do and a huge family to take care of.

Barb&Magpie: Gulp. We didn’t know dark chocolate was the worst…seems like with the lower sugar content it would be less harmful.
Hope Annie and/or Belle are okay.

  9. Barb & Maggie
    10:54 am on December 20th, 2012

Bear, It isn’t the sugar that causes the problem, it’s the theobromine (sp?) that is so dangerous. Milk chocolate is the least lethal, semi-sweet dark next and unsweetened baking chocolate is the worst. It is 10 times more dangerous. A 20 lb. dog can consume 20 oz. of milk chocolate compared to 10 oz. of semi sweet, and only 2-3 oz of baking chocolate. Any more than that can be fatal if not treated quickly.

Quick check in – so much still to do before leaving for the show… So little time.

Macy – prayers for your Mom and for the two naughty chocolate smeared puppies.

Rio and Barb – be careful in that storm. Sounds like it is a whopper.

Melanie – when dealing with hospital staff, remember to channel your inner bulldozer.

The Lovesick Producer “forgot” that all exhibitors had to register their vehicles with the mall in order to get them into the underground loading dock for the show. So he sent an email out at 6 pm yesterday. And registration HAD to be done last night by 10 pm, so license plates can be checked with the RMV today.
What an idiot! ( yes, we did get registered)

Hope to check in with you all later. For now, we are off and running.

Ah, morning, the real one with sun and everything. Not the middle of the night kind.

So far everything is a-ok in dog land. Macy won’t get out of bed to supervise the morning, so I am going to go take a look at her momentarily. She could have taken the chocolate from Belle, so she is also on the suspect list. If they had not left a trail of wrapping across the room, I would never have noticed. I would have gone nuts trying to figure out what I did with the other bar. I guess CVS is now on my list of shop-til-we-drop for today. I certainly did not plan on geting such a late start. And now Belle is getting into the wastebaskets for used tissues. Oy vey.

    RIP Frank Pastore.

I woke up in the night thinking of Princess Sam leading the small dog’s mini-iditarod with her ears flapping and MacyMinPin and her crowd running behind. WhoooHoooo! Get along little doggies! Was it a dream?

Melanie: Hope you get a chance to breathe today.

Masquers: Thank dog they caught those maple syrup thieves. I am comforted to know there is a Global Strategic Maple Syrup Reserve.

Rio: The Christmas moose – I feel sure he/she will be spared.

We had hospice out this morning. Mom was feeling a bit dizzy, was short of breath and had some pain in her heart area. The nurse explained all the different medications and when to use each. Whew.

Rebecca: You will get a card from me but only because I talked Staff into signing my name on the cards she is sending. You will probably get one around New Year’s because that’s the way we roll in this family! We will blame the marauding goats for the lateness.

Thanks to everyone who sent cards. (I don’t know how Linda L. got that picture of Alice wearing antlers!) Melanie got a picture of (which Newf is that) one of her pack in antlers too!

T&G: Hope the shoppers have deep pockets and merry spirits today.

  32. Barb & Maggie
    2:48 pm on December 20th, 2012

Barb is back from the pre-schooler music program. 3 year olds are a hoot. Jack (who has been running around singing the program songs for 2 weeks), turned his back and refused to participate for the first 5 minutes of the 15 min. show. The girl next to him kept crying, and the boy on her other side picked his nose. Maybe that is why she was crying! All in all, very entertaining.

Next she went to the grocery store which was a zoo. Everyone stocking up incase they are snowed in later. Still quiet here, no wind but heavy rain. West of here they are getting 60 mph gusts and snow already. Our blizzard is supposed to start in 1-2 hours. We are in and will stay in. No fireplace here, so hope the power stays on.

Barb’s dil does not always make good decisions, IMO. She is working 3 nights a week at a restaurant in the next town, in order to make some extra money for Christmas. She is driving over there later during what will probably be white-out conditions. Barb is worried about it, but Jessica never thinks anything bad is going to happen. We will keep fingers and paws crossed that she doesn’t end up in a ditch tonight!

We worried about our Lady refusing to come out from her parka and good last night sk we put some gummy bears out in case she got hungry. She said she’s had a hard time having and appetite the past couple of days. No idea why. She must be feeling a bit better, because the gummy bears were gone this morning. We think she’s been paying attention to this here blog from inside her hood and fur ruff because we heard her mumble, “visit store of chalkboards.” We translated this as, “min pins, no more chocolate.”

We did see her eyes peek out of her hood when we told her everyone was being kind and understanding about not sending out Christmast cards. But, alas, she retreated back into her hood when she saw Rio’s card. We think she wanted to laugh in peace because we can hear belly laughs from her parka.

She has to come out sooner or later.

Today, I had to leave Zoë’s side because Mom needed me to run errands with her. I made sure I ate up, did my stretches, and was ready for a good run, but to my surprise, no running was involved in this so-called “run”. Instead, we hopped into the Sibaru a.k.a. katmobile, and went to our local premise-made candy store. We had doggie toys with us for the stars Dima and Sasha picked from the ARL tree. Mom took those into the candy store, as if she didn’t trust me alone with them. Then we went to Joe Paws for goodies for our stockings (ones that “Dima the Choosy” would actually eat). Then to ARL (shelter) with our dog and cat presents. While we were there, a bunch of folks were signing up to walk doggies, and each of them looked at me as a contender. Mom kept pushing me behind her and was mumbling something about Fat Chance. Now I am once again freed up to tend to Zoë.

Well, so much for some time off.

Riö, the card is great. My card will be posted directly on the blog. If I remember.

I just heard about the storm. It sounds terrible. OTAS and GLAD will be on the road tomorrow. It better be over with by then! Snigglefritz.

YSAS is now finished with the film he was doing which I will not name and please do not do so here on the blog. He felt they were being careless with his life, and HE DOESN”T TAKE THAT FROM ANYONE. There appears to be some problems with money and production. Just pay him is my thought.

If you have asked me questions that need direct answers or told me to send Winter Dance to you, it is best for the next week or two to email me directly. I used to read this blog in the “every other word” style. Now the words swim in front of my eyes.

I can see from Riö’s card why moose nose would be a large dish.
Macy, I hope the chocolate debacle gets settled tummy wise.
Rose, hope the lightning wasn’t too bad.
Pre-schooler shows. Snort! That sounded like a typical one.
OTAS was an angel in the Nativity Play at church when he was 18 months.
He didn’t want to go on without his pacifier. I didn’t know that until he came out with the angels. Then he stood on the step up to the altar area and swayed front and back, and front and back, until he fell over wings and all. He got up, his halo crooked, smiled and popped that pacifier right back in his mouth.

    Zoë . .
I did not need the bulldozer since I had already told the nurse last night, and had Zoë’s GP call them.
Now she is off the narcotics. She is on Tylenol by mouth. Advil by IV. Local patch on her knee and a spinal block near her ribs. If her heart goes up to ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY BEATS again (they didn’t tell me last night) they will give her a very low dose of a narcotic that she tolerates the best.
It was still around 90 when I got there and after I massaged her feet it went down to 78. Such an easy thing to do, yet, no one is paid to do it.
Her elbow is not broken. Her left knee has water on the knee.
And I’m too tired and hungry to remember everything else.
Oh, I did make sure that in her chart she is ALLOWED to call me at ANYTIME.

So far it isn’t as bad as we expected. If the temps had dropped earlier, we would now have 15 inches of snow, instead of 1 inch. They are still saying the winds are going to be bad, so we will wait and see.

    CHobbit, you must move south!

We here are celebrating the Solstice, which arrives at 6:12 am blog time. No matter which holiday you are getting ready to celebrate, its origin is the arrival of the Winter Solstice. Happy Solstice, Plunderers, and welcome the return of light (slowly).

Solstice!…I am always happy when the darkest day of the year is over with…sniff!…Then I look forward to gaining a little more sunshine each and every day. Still there is the worst months of the year to get through. January and February – nothing going on but icy coldness and more snow…grump!…Someone here says we need to figure out a way to have a warm vacation in February….sneeze!…Oh, SiberH! Do you have an extra bedroom? ….heh!heh!

What the hell was going on during those greenscreen fight scenes anyways?…grump!…He better damned well get paid every cent they owe him. He hurt his back doing this for pete’s sake…grumble!…Clarkson is too young to have back problems…wheeze!

We grabbed Molly’s Mom’s sunrise and sunset charts that she uses for sailboat races on those beautiful summer evenings. They show what she keeps telling us, that the gain or loss of daylight goes the slowest at the solstices. Not what we wanted.

Rio: you can put your puggy worries to rest as I am home. Almost missed the turns onto three roads due to the ice fog and was worried I wouldn’t see the one stoplight we have on the road. But I could see it and it was green…

Got home from work and saw that the fuel truck had come. Bill: $1,125.30 That’s my life every 5 weeks in the winter. Seems like I would get a discount for shoveling my driveway and parking area all the way back to the fence where the tank is. Why deliver 5 days before Christmas? Phooey

I just arrived home a little while ago, and have climbed into bed with thoughts of each of you on my mind. I am thinking those in a storm’s path, those who are trying to stay warm, those who are lonely who I may not know I care about you, for G&BBs dad and Zoe, each and every one of you—the list goes on and on. Wheeze!
