R.I.P.: Elmore Leonard

“One of his best pieces of advice was to leave out the boring parts,” Spence says.

“So that’s it for today,” says Admin.

Welcome Kelda the sorcerer.

    Goood morning everyone.
    Rest in peace Elmore Leonard.
Took me awhile to get today’s post (in my defense – no caffeine)
    Boring is the new normal.
I’m going for a bike ride before the heat gets too hot.

already forgot. I was supposed to leave all that out.

Dawson, what happens when the heat get too cold?

    Morning all!

Guess we should go check on the naybor. He slept in the back yard last night. (his, not ours!!!) He wanted to hook up to our electric, but dad finally had enough. We don’t have any income ourselves, and a newly arrived upstairs boarder who seems to think that she needs a/c. That.is.it. We are at our limit for freeloaders. I found that I do still have a conscience, I thought about Naybor during the night, but some people will suck you dry if you let them. OK, sorry Elmore.

Geez, boarders (in Texas) who think they need AC!
When Mr.Staff agreed to my proposal I told him there were two conditions. One was Northern Lights and the other was AC. He delivered both within 6 months. The AC came first.

Elmore was one of Mom’s favorite writers. It helped that he set some of his books in Detroit near where Mom and Dad lived when they first married while going to Wayne State University. (back in the late 40’s)
87 West Ferry was the address.

Good morning to you all from day 2 of the Really Long Shew. The exhibit halls all got really hot yesterday. Being on the very end, we get some air, but in hot, humid weather, a tin roof building is not the place to be. Thankfully, we found a 24 hour Wally’s on the way back to the hotel last night and bought a fan. So today we are sitting cooler, if not pretty.

In answer to all questions re jewelry – sure. We can all talk after the show

Macy – truer words were never spoken. This guy’s tragic life does not have to become yours.

Have a good day everyone. We hope to be too busy to check in.

Good morning, everyone. Mom has been in lurk mode lately, but all is well. Sometimes she is quiet inside, and has nothing to say. And sometimes there is so much going on that it is impossible to articulate.

She has spent some time with Jace, but my boys lives are quickly destabilizing. It is very worrisome.

Golinka, your really big shew is beautiful. Staff, you are stunning. Love that photo. Gus and Dima, please get well. You too, Tenzing. Can’t wait for the really big auction! Loved the Iggy Chronicles because it made me laugh out loud!

One of Elmore Leonard’s books was made into two of the best westerns ever to grace the big screen…both versions (the original and the remake) of 3:10 to Yuma.

Bear, I saw the Fish, Wolf, Moon this morning. We were at the dog park before it ever set in the western sky.

Macy, Get some money from your boarder for the a/c. You are not a charity organization. Don’t feel bad about not doing any more for the naybor. He sounds like the type that might take advantage of you.

One of Kelly’s friends just adopted a little terrier mix from a rescue place. He was neutered, chipped and they said he was vet checked. The friends took him in to their own vet and found out he has lung worms. Anyone familiar with those? They paid $350 to the rescue center for an adoption fee. Barb thinks they should reimburse them for the treatment cost. Evidently it is fairly easily curable from what we read on line, but can be fatal if left untreated.
