Quilt
Out on the road, Spence mentioned the beautiful quilt that the Plunderers (a group within the group here at chetthedog.com) made for him a while back and said he’d post a picture of it. So therefore:
Welcome Claddagh. Note to Fragment’s human companion: we need a mailing address to send you a signed and paw-printed copy of A Fistful of Collars.

Greetings All!
I love the poem so far. I am not much of a poetess, so I’ll just keep my mouth shut. :^)
I absolutely love the quilt! I wish I could have been a part of it! Such beautiful work….and so many pictures of Rio! ;^)
G&BB: Strong prayers to your dad.
And to the rest of the Plunderers who might be under the quilt still, loving hugs and strong prayers to you all.
XOXOXO

I haven’t seen the quilt for a while. (I think the squares are shown separately on Dishlickers.)
Good morning all.
9:37 am on October 3rd, 2012
My picture on the quilt is in black velvet with diamonds sprinkled around. I’m also wearing a crown. I’m beautiful.
9:41 am on October 3rd, 2012
Yes Princess Sam – it is only fitting. Too bad th quilt was before our time too. There could have been a whole Royal section.
We may have to leave poetry weaving to the rest of the gang today. Big shew coming up this weekend, and Mama keeps shaking her head over all the things she wanted to get ready, needed to get ready, was sure she was going to get ready. Anyway, we need to go hold her feet down under the work table so she actually does some work!

Here’s the poem so far:
In the deep bowels of earth, shadows played upon the rocks.
Lit by luminescent flickerings of myriad tiny forms
The sprites aglow, attending to their tasks
Intently guarded, yet joyful
Untouched by minutiae beyond their bounds
Dancing to the music of crystalline drops
Rolling gently from chandeliered pendulums of stone,
They saw their shapes in dark and light
Course together in the bowels of the earth.
In the deep indigo of the sky, light sparkled upon the clouds–
Stars dancing the same patterns to the music of the aurora,
Still beauty in the rain and foggy dark,
Awaiting the arrival of the autumn moon
The light of gathering harvest’s gold,
The final dance before winter’s sleep
When indigo turns to slate.
Dawn edging toward the promise of the rising sun–
Rising, rising like the phoenix bringing forth a new day.

Sammie, you are beautiful in your pink tiara.
10:29 am on October 3rd, 2012
I wish we could have been part of the quilt, too. What a wonderful gift all youse gave to OFA.
10:29 am on October 3rd, 2012
Good morning. We are very impressed with the poem, but we got nuttin.
Have a busy, productive day Amalia.
Barb is doing cleaning stuff and some organizational things today. Also made an appointment with the dentist out in Lena. A filling fell out and Barb has to go out there next Wed. to bring back Peaches and her gang, so they are going to work her in. Do not like going to the dentist.
Sammy, yes you are beautiful. We love seeing the quilt!
10:33 am on October 3rd, 2012
The poem is a thing of beauty.
Wolfie: We have woven your lines into it…”for somewhere in Middle Earth the sprites are feasting”.
Beautiful Princess Sammie!
10:54 am on October 3rd, 2012
Seeing the quilt agan brings back good memories.
I love the poem and poetry isn’t usually my thing. Thanks for putting it together, Stover.
Remember when we were wondering how many books it took to do well on the bestseller lists? This isn’t much info, but Lee Child’s new book sold 60,000 copies to go on the lists at #1.
10:56 am on October 3rd, 2012
Wolfie’s line is, “Intently guarded, yet joyful.” It’s excellent.
10:57 am on October 3rd, 2012
Baseball! (We do so love butterscoth pie)
Macy, The Rangers need to win this game today. I will be following it on the internet and chewing my toenails. It isn’t televised for me.
11:01 am on October 3rd, 2012
Thanks for the info Siber H. (Whispering) I don’t think I’ve ever read anything by Lee Child.
11:01 am on October 3rd, 2012
Go Yankees!
11:02 am on October 3rd, 2012
LOL! Butterscotch pie coming up.
11:12 am on October 3rd, 2012
Spence does love the Plunderer Quilt!
Wish we could have been here for it too.
Barb&Magpie: There is a place on our printer where the camera SD card fits into for printing photos and also on the front of the computer.
O.Howlers: We forgot to say…your story of Misha Moonman & Sasha the other day was very touching.
B: Thinking of the verse about the fake cake and picturing the feast of the little people. Perhaps Wolfie has come up with the beginnings of a new poem.
Butterscotch! Go Nationals! And congrats to Wookie’s team.
11:13 am on October 3rd, 2012
Sorry Rose!
11:26 am on October 3rd, 2012
Siber-H: The part of Jack Reacher soon to be played by Tom Cruise. Gah! How can we forget.
11:29 am on October 3rd, 2012
Bear, I just read recently that Lee Child made a point in his newest book of saying that Reacher is 6 feet 5 inches tall.
11:37 am on October 3rd, 2012
The rest of the cast in the film will be dwarfs, making Tom Cruise look tall.
11:42 am on October 3rd, 2012
Mollypop’s Mom, LOL
11:50 am on October 3rd, 2012
Good morning all. We here have major quilt envy…wish we would have been on this here blog back then, because just like Oley…if you weren’t here from the beginning you will never be considered a local.
Does that mean we can’t be Plunderers (a group within the group here on the blog)?
11:57 am on October 3rd, 2012
MollyPop’s Mom: And even then he would have to wear platform shoes and stand on a box.
O.Howlers: You are Plunderers through and through (spoken by one even newer than you)
11:59 am on October 3rd, 2012
Gah! I just mentioned the forbidden shows and am now being moderated.
12:01 pm on October 3rd, 2012
MollyPop’s Mom: Good one! And even then he would have to wear platform shews and stand on a box.
O.Howlers: You are Plunderers through and through (spoken by one even newer than you)
12:01 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Howlers: Of course you are Plunderers.
12:06 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Mom just got a call on her cell from a woman looking for a home for her 2-yr old husky. Mom asked her why, and the woman said she is getting a divorce and has 2 kids and 2 dogs (both huskies). She said she doesn’t have time to do for this poor little girl what she needs. Mom said what is it you feel she needs, because what she needs is you! and the children…huskies love kids…and the other husky…if you have huskies with other huskies, they are in shangri-la. Do you have a yard? I assume so since you are keeping the other husky.”
The stupid broad said well that is the problem. The other husky is good and stays around so she can just be let out. But this one doesn’t !!!
GRRRRRR we are all in very bad moods now.
12:07 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Oley, Of course youse guys are Plunderers! And Rose too.
Off to Wally World to see if their universal USB cord will work on the camera. If not Barb found them on EBay for under $5.00. She is not ths sharpest knife in the drawer, thus she can’t figure out where to stick that little card from the camera.
Oh, and we finally caught the commercial for Empire Carpets. If you blink you would miss Kelly and the girls entirely. Hard to believe it took 49 people all day to shoot that 15 second piece!BBL
12:11 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Didn’t mean to leave you out Bear. You are a Plunderer also.
Bee, Could you give us the short definition of Plunderer again?
We were telling Kelly what it means, but sort of stumbled through it. Your wording was better.
12:14 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Howlers: We feel sorry for BOTH those Huskies. Do you give away one of your kids just because it misbehaves? We think not!
12:18 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Masquers, the reason is the divorce. She said that hubby was supposed to take this husky. Now please tell us, when 2-leggeds get divorced, is it normal for them to find other homes for their children?
12:20 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Thank you Barb&Magpie. sniff.
12:22 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Mom was mean to that woman and the woman mumbled “well I was just given your number by Godfrey’s” and that was that. Now we are worried about those huskies, when we should have told her to call a rescue. Then again, we don’t have good feelings about rescues. Why would our friend give someone Mom’s cell number? We are not happy about that. No we are not.
12:31 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Mom is always screaming about how she hates people. But we don’t hate people. We love ’em. Especially the 2-leggeds that get on this here blog with our fellow Members of the Nation Within.
12:43 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Fellow Sibers, I agree with you about the phone number. We would be just as unhappy as you are.
Husky Rescue here will try to work with people like that woman and try to solve the problem some way other than giving up the dog. We have even helped fix or buld fence for people. Something tells me that would not work with this woman. She wants an easy way out just like so many other people.
Don’t feel bad about your mom being “mean”. My mom has been known to lose patience with people like that woman. Mom says we can’t all be diplomats.
12:48 pm on October 3rd, 2012
This goes without saying, but all you guys are Plunderers. It makes no difference when you joined the blog. Being a Plunderer is a state of mind, not a calendar date.
12:53 pm on October 3rd, 2012
“Flowers slowly lifting dew dampened heads
Unfurling colors, emblazening the meadow”
(whew – coffee break)
12:55 pm on October 3rd, 2012
And anyone who says youse all aren’t Plunderers, you jut let us know and we’ll grab em by the pantleg!
12:57 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Um…we messed up our second line of the poem. It should be:
“Unfurling colors, emblazening the meadow with perfumed penants”
1:08 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Howlers – “I love mankind…it’s people I can’t stand.”
Linus from Peanuts
1:09 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Barb: “One just plunders on” (“plunder” from the German word for baggage): It means to work against all odds to find solutions to difficulties; to sort through the irrelevant junk (baggage) to find the thing that matters.
1:10 pm on October 3rd, 2012
What a dumb poem. It doesn’t have anything about a pretty Maltese sprinkled with diamonds twinkling in the sun light.
1:12 pm on October 3rd, 2012
T&G: I wrote down the new lines.
Regarding being a “Plunderer”: Siber H said it very well.
1:12 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Sam: You’re free to add lines.
1:43 pm on October 3rd, 2012
We are plundering on here, Dear Plunderers.
Got a phone call that my glasses were ready. Hmm. I remember going to the eye doctor’s and picking some out. But I had just had some maybe bad news and needed to get home to spell Zoë and I had NO IDEA what I had picked out. I knew my computer glasses were the same as my old glasses but a different color, but my long distance?
All I could remember was a shape I didn’t usually use and that I had tried on a mess of them until I just said “Whatever” and picked on out.
I was concerned that I had gone with something that had sparkles?
Luckily that wasn’t so. Turns out to be metal with a slight sort of dark pink color.
Jeez Lousie.
1:46 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Hi Melanie,
Hope you and Zoe are eating well, and we think you both should make plans to go out somewhere together. Restaurant? Movie? Get out of the house. Relax. Unwind. It is hard to take that first step but we think it would help to free up your minds and soothe your hearts.
1:47 pm on October 3rd, 2012
MPM, LOL! I’m sure they not only casted dwarfs, but have given Tom Cruise Frankenstein height shoes to wear.
B&M, thank you for considering me a Plunderer. It is an honor.
Bear, I understand that it is tough for some to root for the Yankees. I will always forive you……
1:50 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Ooops, I said the dreaded word, and now my comment is awaiting moderation.
Bear, that should have been, “I will always forgive you.”
1:55 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Melanie: I think you should have gotten glasses with sparkles!
1:58 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Wose: The Blog Moderator is on the job this morning…shielding the innocent Plunderer Pack from the evils of the world.
2:24 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Every quilt needs a pillow. Could we not make a large patchwork pillow featuring small pieces with just our names on it? Everyone could select their own fabric colors and embroider or paint their names on it. Another good memory of all of us bloggers and the new ones that have become regulars after the quilt. Or if the quilt needs to just be its own unique gift to Spence, the pillow could be up for auction (maybe Spence would bid for it–heh, heh).
2:37 pm on October 3rd, 2012
A Plunderer Pillow!
2:44 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Golly….making a Plunderer pillow sounds like a really good idea and a way to update the growing list of Plunderers!
3:00 pm on October 3rd, 2012
CHobbit – That’s a good idea. It should be only for the new people and then the usual 6 squares for Rio.
3:01 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Tee hee.

Could not find the USB cord at WalMart so went on line to ebay and they have a ton, and cheap. Right after it arrives I will find the other one in whatever box I put it in for safe keeping.
Cold and gloomy here, a goood day for a pot of chili.
Bee, thanks for the definition.
We like the pillow idea for the newbies.
4:39 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Texas now leads Oakland 5-3 GO RANGERS!!!
Congratulations to the Nationals!
4:53 pm on October 3rd, 2012
SiberH — I think it is better than that. I think it is 5-1 for Texas after 3 and 1/2 innings. Go Rangers!
The Nationals, with 98 wins, will lead the majors in that regard. Cincinnati may match them if they win tonight, but the Nationals actually have the advantage over Cincinatti in terms of head-to-head play, so the Nationals have the best record in the majors this year.
Wookie
5:04 pm on October 3rd, 2012
When are the playoffs and the world series over? Just kidding….
5:07 pm on October 3rd, 2012
B., we’re almost there. The Yankees will win the Wold Series and then it’s all over.
5:16 pm on October 3rd, 2012
B: Looks like you are going to be busy baking pies.
5:26 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Wookie, You are correct. That 3 was a typo on my part.
But, Yikes, Oakland now leads 5-5
5:27 pm on October 3rd, 2012
frack, Another typo from me. Oakland leads 7-5
5:30 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Stover, Hang on. The regular baseball season is at an end. We have the playoffs next and then the World Series, and then darkness and depression until next Spring.
5:39 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Siber H: There’s the Iditarod.
5:58 pm on October 3rd, 2012
The Iditarod!!! Thanks Stover!
6:27 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Thanks to Awesome Dawson and Staff, we have a LARGE map of Alaska. We will be putting it up to track our OHHT. (Our Handsome Hero and Team)
B.Stover, I did get that thingy you put on reading glasses so they drape on one’s bosom. Fake pearls and silver sparkly things.
This was to bother my guys. Hmmm, I am finding it useful though.
6:31 pm on October 3rd, 2012
I think that sounds lovely Melanie…pearls and silvery sparkly things.
6:51 pm on October 3rd, 2012

Sammie, are you watching the Yankee game?
8:05 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Wose, I can’t get the game. Are we winning?
8:13 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Yes, Sammie, we are winning 5-1 in the 4th. HR’s for Cano and Granderson.
8:17 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Oh, and Sammie, Tampa Bay is winning over the Orioles so far….
8:21 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Wose,
Rio’s friend had to take her mother to the bus station today. So she is offline for now. She will return.
8:23 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Oh, and Melanie. The only thing I had to do with that map was to tell Dawson she was awesome. I think I drove her to the post office also.
If I am remembering correctly.
8:31 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Thanks, Staff. I forgot about that.
8:35 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Hooray!….We are back home from waiting around forever at the bo-dunk place they call a bus station in this town…wheeze!…It is windy and cold outside but she insisted on taking us for a walk when we got back…snort!…So now we have had our supper and are tucked in for the night…sneeze!
Rockies!…Are behind the Snakes in the 5th. This is their last game…Sob!sob!Sob!…wheeze!
8:55 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Wookie!…Awesome and exciting news about your team!…snort!…I know you have waited a long time for this…heh!…Enjoy every moment of it. SiberH and I will come along for the ride…woooooo!
News!…My friend is totally tired tonight, but she says she will be home with me and Beau for the next 5 days straight!…snort!…This is very good news as I was really worried about her lately. She didn’t seem like herself. I guess thats what extended lengths of intense stress does to some people, one being my friend….sniff!…She wants to enjoy life, she does not want to be stressed out and unhappy all the time..grunt!…Sort of like me!me!me!…heh!…I say, just never go back to the busy-place. What would happen?…sniff!
9:02 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Plunderers!…Of course everyone here is a Plunderer! Even those regular Lurkers who will not step forward but contribute to the Snowhook Boutiques and Auctions…heh!…Are youse kidding me? What we’ve been through together sort of tugs at my pug-heart strings right now…sniff!…Gosh, all the ups and downs and all arounds. What other blog “Book-Club” hangs together like we do?? …snort!…None I bet!
9:04 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Yeep!….The Presidential debates are starting right now!…snort!…It is here in my state you know. Traffic Nightmare to say the least…heh!…Not for me though…sniff!
9:07 pm on October 3rd, 2012
It would be nice if the Rockies could win this last game of the season. sniff
9:10 pm on October 3rd, 2012
We are going to watch the debate.
See you all tomorrow.
9:13 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Wose, thanks for the game update. Please keep me posted.
9:42 pm on October 3rd, 2012
We are watching the debate too. Be back tomorrow. Sweet dreams to all of you.
9:46 pm on October 3rd, 2012
SiberH!…Hows the game going or are you watching the circus too?…snort!
9:51 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Not watching the debates – New York already voted the electoral votes. I might as well go to bed. Every vote does not count.
9:53 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Rio, It is the bottom of the 8th and the Rockies lead 2-1.
No, I am not watching the circus.
9:54 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Beau!…He is wondering why her mother is not here tonight…sniff!…I guess no one explained to him the whole travel plan …heh!…It’s not on me, so he can just be a worry-wort all night long….chorkel!
9:55 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Sam, I agree wuth you. Every vote does not count.
9:56 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Sammie!…That sounds like true Injustice to me…sniff!…Why or why is it like that in your State?…grump!
9:59 pm on October 3rd, 2012
And Siber-H, my girl and my boy are voting for the first time. They and their friends are very is disappointed. They have been told forever that in America every vote counts.
10:04 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Rio, it’s the darn electoral college. In New York State, since 1988, the vote has gone to the democratic candidate. It’s done before anyone goes to the polls, so they’re not going.
10:11 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Grump!…So Obama gets the vote no matter what the people say?…grrroooowwwwwl!…That is so unfair. And I would say that even if it was the Repub-lick-an vote getting in there without the peoples vote…..grump!…How can this Be? That is very demoralizing to say the least…sniff!
10:14 pm on October 3rd, 2012
It can be difficult enough as it is to get some young people interested in voting.
It is the top of the ninth and the score is still 2-1
10:17 pm on October 3rd, 2012
The Yankees are about to win the AL East.
10:20 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Awwwww!…shucks!…At least I am happy that Rose and Mollysmom will be thrilled…grump!spit!kick!
10:28 pm on October 3rd, 2012
One more out and the Rockies win this game.
10:30 pm on October 3rd, 2012
ROCKIES WON!!!!
10:32 pm on October 3rd, 2012
SiberH!…Someone here thinks this election is a very important election, so …grump!…we are missing the LAST GAME of the season. We do appreciate your updates very much…chuffle!
10:33 pm on October 3rd, 2012
WOOOOOOO!….And the Debate is over just as the Rockies win the last game of the season!!!….whew~…Thank dawg!
10:42 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Opinion!…In my flat-headed-pug opinion, I think the Debate went very well. I did notice at first the candidates were shown looking away from the camera while answering questions…sniff!…I think the other debates will be very interesting and the best thing is they will not be in our state…gruffle!
10:47 pm on October 3rd, 2012
The Twins lost today. They are worst in their division for the 2nd year in a row.
And in North Dakota it doesn’t matter how you vote either. It will go to the Republican candidate. A lot more electoral votes in play in New York than in North Dakota. (we have 3, NY has 29)
10:56 pm on October 3rd, 2012
In most states, individual votes don’t matter, because there is a large majority one way or the other. There is a very small number of swing states, where the electoral votes are truly up for grabs.
Shiek had a very bad incident again this afternoon, but has recovered once again. Fall has not been good to him so far.
Time for bed.
10:57 pm on October 3rd, 2012
HOLY!..CRAP!….Are youse guys kidding me about the Electoral Vote?…sniff!…No wonder no one votes anymore…grump!grump! and spit!twice!….wheeze!
.
10:59 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Night Everyone
11:02 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Voting!…I still think it is important to vote. NO matter what This is what our freedom is all about…grunt!…Do the vote. just do it….sniff!
Twins!…One day – and I can see it clearly. The Rockies vs The Twins in the Wor;d Series…heh!…We win, of course in this scenario….snuffle!
11:12 pm on October 3rd, 2012
Goodnight!…Tomorrow will be a stressless day for someone here just as Beau and I live all the time…heh!…She says sleep now is very important. So we are off to our beds. Beau to his, with his paws straight up in the air…heh!…Looks funny, but he is so comfortable…snort!…Plus, I can get on the big bed without him knowing…heh!heh!

There is no joy in Rangerville,
Mighty Josh can’t catch a frazzlesnacking fly ball.
We are bummed. And now we have to play some bird team to stay in the race?
I wanted to go to the airport tonight and grab some pants legs. All they had to do was win one @&$&@&$??/ game, just like the World Series last year. Grrrrrrrrrr
12:44 am on October 4th, 2012
On a positive note, I got my nails done today and they look fab. Plus I don’t make so much clickedy-clack on the wood floor.
12:46 am on October 4th, 2012
Rose – Yankees indeed! Clobbering the hated Sox in a game they didn’t have to win anyway. A-Rod is going into playoff mode again I fear, but if we do have a World Series game in the Bronx, I will be there. Still in the Valley, but flying back to the real world tomorrow. Good night Chet.
