Thanks, Melanie, for the basketball story. That coach is quite a guy. I came on after the quilt and am happy to see it again. The news is good about the checkpoints. What do we have before the beginning of the race, about 10 days? We are really getting excited and anxious to follow it. Welcome home, Spence. Rio, When we signed off last night there were about 74 posts, so guess we didn’t go back and read the last few, which is probably when Rebecca posted. Last one we read, she was part way home. SORRY!
Rio, we did watch Parenthood last night, and it was a real tear-jerker. That is one of our favs. Next week is the season final show. Wondering what will happen with the baby. We are happy about some of the other happenings on the show, especially for Crosby.

Just caught up on yesterday’s posts!! Wow!! Great job guys and, thank you, Spence, for jumping in and for the shout out about the quilt. We donated several times, but special kudos to the plunderers that kept us going.

What the heck is going on here? Mama finally came out of her clay room. She said she would give us crunchies as soon as she checked in on the blog etc. Next thing we know, her eyes got real big, then she started crying. But she says she’s happy! Why do two leggeds cry when they are happy? You don’t hear us Kats yowling when WE’RE happy. Ok, so we purr. That’s different.
Anyway whatever you all did, Mama is very honored and touched and she says that she is so happy Melanie introduced her to first Chet and Bernie and then to the blog. The Plunderers hold a special place in her heart.
We are all thrilled that Snowhook is so well sponsored and cared for. And she still sniffling a little, but she says we need to say thank you for this honor. We just want her to stop sniffling and remember that she promised us CRUNCHIES!! and we want them NOW!

Tyb, we think that we may have to wait until next January for the next season of Downton Abby. Hope we’re wrong, but the PBS site said that this year’s season ran for 7 weeks, beginning in January.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Finally with all of your help, I was able to access the quilt pictures and must say that I’m impressed. I’ve heard so much about the quilt and know it’s story, but this is the first time I’ve had a chance to see it in detail. I AM impressed. It is strikingly beautiful.

O.Howlers: We have watched all the episodes of Downton Abbey Season 2 except the season finale. Yes, whatever will we do until the start of Season 3!
Netflix takes forever to come out with the DVDs. Rio, you probably won’t see in their line-up of new shows until sometime next year. We have been watching Season 3 on PBS online, although not sure how many are available…hopefully all.

Bridger and Tenzing want to be included in the retirees’ checkpoint. Works for me. Luna and Belle Starr also want to be included in the checkpoint. What? They’ve never worked a day in their lives.
And, since no one has booed me off the stage, yet, I have another announcement to make. Make that two. One, since I’ve spent a good deal of time at the podium since last night, I’m leaving a stash of treats. Cheesecake is in the refridgerated compartment, and Zingers and Slim Jims are on the bottom shelf. Two: I’ve been sitting on a secret, but I didn’t want to count chickens or chicken-ladies (hi, Barb) before they hatched. You remember that email we received from a casting director many months ago that was followed up with news that we were chosen for the demo reel they’d shop around to networks? Well, a network picked up the show and want to feature AJ in the program. It is a one episode documentary on mushing. We just got off a conference call with the casting director and a members of the production company.

First, Rio spills the beans a couple of weeks ago and now he wants me to spill my guts. I better get a mop.
What do I know? They will be up here next week to begin filming. They plan to capture the vet checks, musher’s banquet, the Ceremonial start and the re-start. I don’t know if they will be on the trail. It is a long race and a lot to pack into one episode. AJ is the feature which means I don’t have to do anything—ha! They did say they wanted about an hour with each of us to do interiews. We invited them out to the kennel for a ride.
Rio: The conference call was about logistics. Who will be where, when. What happens on what day. It was the first time we’ve spoken to anyone other than the casting director. Will I mention the Plunderers in my interview?—without a doubt.
We got the call a few days ago, but I didn’t want to say anything in case something fell through. The call today made it seem more real.
Dawson: I think there are foundations that can help with the wiggling, giggling and increasing cup size. I almost snorted root beer from my nose when I read your comment.

Folks retire at different times and ages. Some retire from one job to go to something they love to do (Golinka, Tyb), others begin a whole new career (ie: retire at 40 from the military and start a business). Aarp accepts members beginning at age 50.

Rebecca, Can you tell us who is doing the doc, and where it is likely to be shown? Will it be on NATGEO or Discovery, or Animal Planet, or some channel like that? Is it something that one will be able to purchase? Don’t know how much you know yet, and how much you are allowed to tell.
Barb just go back home from her “hair cut”. Good thing she is not going anywhere important for the next few weeks, because it is SHORT! She said it is a good thing it grows fast, because OMD!
Dawson, speaking of double Ds, there was a woman they showed on The Today Show who boasts a pair of KKs. She has had 22 surgeries to increase her cup size, and wants to get to MMs. She is in the Guinness Book. Now I ask you WHY? She obviously likes publicity, but I bet she can’t go horseback riding, or dog racing! What a nutter!

Since Mollypop’s mom mentioned my dad’s multiple retirements I’ve been wondering how he’s retired so many times in one lifetime. I think I figured it out. His first initial is M. and he goes by his middle name. I think the M. might stand for Methuselah.

Greetings Plunderers and Savannah-ite newbies from the middle of the mitten. I am feeling perkier and perkier recovering from the dreaded v*e*t and the tooth cleaning from hell that turned out with all my teeth gone. I keep taking all my rope toys to mom but she refuses to play tug with me. She tells me that fetch is my game for another week or two. Sigh. I want to tug and bite with the teeth I have left. I’ve got antibiotics and soft food for about 4 more days. Mom’s feeding me Three Dog Bakery yumminess in a pouch. Loving the soft food. Mmmmmmm.
So happy to hear that Dan is back home and napping. I like a good nap at home too.

I just finished a David Rosenfelt book, am listening to a k.d. Lang concert (she’s so talented!) and am gearing up to walk to the P.O. hoping to find my Dorg. Life is fine today.

Someone, I think Oley’s mom, mentined Downton Abbey this morning. We saw all the 2nd season, but not sure if we want to go back and watch the first, or just wait for the 3rd. What do you think? Lester Holt talked about how popular the show is on Saturday morning. He said he almost called it Downtown Abbey. That is what Barb thought it was till you all started talking about it.

We are 3/4 way thru on the finale of DA. Dan decided not to even try to find out what was going on. He’s going to start from Season 1.
Barb and MagPie: The thought of that woman trying to do the Dawson Dance just sent shivers up my spine. Speaking of spine, I can’t help but think she’s going to end up with back trouble.
Jasper: No tug! No tug! Ow, just the thought.
Okay guys, one more day and then I’m out of here! Do you know that we have an ironing board but we’ve lost our iron? I’m not saying that we don’t use it much … but we never use it. Discovered the old steamer thingy and that worked great.
Hmm. my spell check now accepts the word thingy. Which is good because I use it a lot.

B.Stover: Friday morning at 8 am I will start driving to NJ to see OTAS and FOTAS!
Friday I will be attending the first fitting of the wedding dress (3 pm).
Saturday, Papi (their dog) and I will have a spend the day in front of the fire place and read day.
Sunday is FOTAS’s Bridal Shower.
Monday, I head home to get back here around 2 pm.
My sister is coming to be with my parents and The Pack.
If I get to use their computer, I’ll check in.
Otherwise I’ll be calling a certain Royals’ Mum who has claimed OTAS as her spiritual son. Which is good because the Storyteller has claimed the other son.

Mom’s consultation with the animal communications person is coming up, so we are getting ready to listen in. We are suspicious about a stranger discussing us with Mom.
Melanie, we didn’t realize you were traveling to NJ so soon.
Barb and Maggie, Downton Abby was so good, we could watch it over and over. Definitely do watch Season 1, then follow it up with a re-watch of Season 2.

Masquers, We absolutely love the Andy Carpenter series. Our library only has the 9th or 10th one, so the others have to ordered on inter-library loan. He should be coming out with #11 this year. Dawson is right, they are lots of fun.
Melanie, that is nice that Martha can give you a break for a few days. Have a wonderful time and don’t worry, be happy!

Mom is finished with her consultation. He pretty much verified all that she thought she knew about us. But she was surprised that Meashka knows her job is to be The Protector, and her eyes must be on Mom. Why was Mom surprised by that? Mom says that she thought Meashka was protector of Sasha and Kat, but didn’t know that she was the one being protected. And that is why Meash gets mad at Mom when she leaves and keeps Meash inside where she cannot see.
As for Kat, she is smart, a thinker, and very sensitive. She is hurt that she is punished by being put in a krate.
Sasha is outdoorsy (duh) and confused that things are not working as they used to. Her left eye may be having trouble, but mostly she just wants to run as she always has.

Hi LIz! Glad that Dorg made it through the mail.
Staff: Anyone who thinks that sitting at a desk having to focus on paperwork is not exhausting is nuts.
OleyHowlers: That is great about the animal communicator. I wonder what would happen if an animal communicator tried to communicate with all of The Pack. BRAIN OVErLOAD. The person would go on an eating binge and then run for ten minutes and then fall asleep for hours.
Been a long day. Dan did pretty well. He was totally exhausted by bed time and decided to get a bit snippy but Zoë handled it great. The book I talked about a couple of days ago by the Asperger dude is help. I plan on reading it over the weekend.
The “wiring” in the brain of someone with Aspergers is so different than “normal” that is quite a hinderance. He has a great sense of humor and willing to work on it.
With Dan, his wiring has short circuited and it’s nothing that he can help. This book is giving us some pointers on how to see things from his point of view.
