Quacky Baseball

“Should we post the cover of Quacky Baseball?” Admin says. “It’s coming out February 22.”

“Why not?” says Spence. “I read it, by the way.”

“Yeah?”

“Love the inside joke you put in there. Maybe we should run a contest about it.”

“Heh-heh, as someone would say.”

    BASEBALL FANATICS . . .

    Good morning Melanie:
Tupper and Gilly even told us a story.
I”ll have to get the book to spot the “inside joke”.

Yeah, right. Last time they were going to have a contest, did we all get excited, or what? Barb spent mucho time thinking about book titles, and let me tell you, that did not come easy to her brain! She is a numbers person, not creative at all.

Book cover does look cute. Maybe Barb should get it for grandson’s 5th b-day in May.

Here are some interesting facts we got from Barb’s morning emails: there are more chickens than people in the world (Rio should love that).

A cat has 32 muscles in its ear. Staff are you listening? No wonder they can hear those mousies!

Racecar, kayak and level are all palindromes – spelled the same from back to front and front to back. Bee should like that.

    Good morning everyone.

Welcome Tupper and Gilly (T&G). The movie Queen starring Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II also had corgis.

    B&M: I love the palindromes!

Queen Elizabeth and Corgis are inseparable. Although Barb likes the Cardigans better (the Corgis with a tail).

Barb, are there more people than goats in the world? Please say that there are.

TYB, Don’t feel bad about your shaved legs. I have had a shaved place on my nose and have gone everywhere with it, daring anyone to say anything. I had a bit of a skin infection on my nose. It is now healed with ointment and oral antibiotics, but the vet got carried away with the shaver.

I am glad that you are fully recovered. We were all very worried for awhile.

Good morning all. Hi Melanie-we are so glad you told our Mama about this blog. You were right, these are all great Dogs, Kats and humans to talk to. But let’s not tell Basil and Sage – those two rotten kitties will want to hog the computer all the time!
B.Stover – thanks for mentioning “The Queen”. We want Mama to get that so we can see if they cast the right Corgis to play our royal relatives. (Gilly says she would have been perfect for the role, but she doesn’t even have ANY acting training, she just likes to show off)
And Barb – if there ARE more goats in the world than people, then just point us at them. We’ll herd them up to proper formation! Nobody likes goats in chaos!

It is snowing here also, Mr Husky. It has been snowing every weekend for about 2 months. If it is Friday it must be snow.

Heh heh (As Alice Johnson would say)

By the way, Tupper and Gilly.. I have a message for Basil and Sage. It is from Alice Johnson.
“Kats are wonderful on the ChettheDog blog. Go for it you guys. Just tell your staff to get you your own email addy and you are in. Then you can join Alice Johnson, that’s me, AbbietheKitty, Gus and BooBear and Bluecat. We are totally cool”

Staff, we loved the video. Kats can be very entertaining, so long as you do not have to live with them every day. That picture of Alice Johnson is beginning to weird me out. I know she is sending subliminal messages. Hmm, lunch time, anyone have any tuna?

Funny, funny video!! Imagine how Dad must feel when he has to say how many cats he has (usually he says he doesn’t know).

T&G, we think corgis are super cute. Mom has read all the Sneaky Pie Brown series. She also thought they ruined it when they made the movie. We sure hope that doesn’t happen with the C&B books.

SiberH, was ur Mom a husky fan before you or are you the reason she got interested in husky rescue?

Melanie, Mom saved the picture of your side yard with the stream and snow and is using it as her wallpaper on the laptop. Dad is very impressed.

T & G, You are cute little guys! Thanks for the offer to herd up those goats. We have 2, Stormy and Sandy (AKA Baby Goat), who live here with Me, Barb, the Chickens and a few rats. The goat girls are gone for the winter and Barb says when they come back, we may have an explosion of goats. Evidently there is a Billy where they are wintering, so who knows what could happen. Goats usually have 2 kids, so that means we coud have six goats next spring. We may need your help. Rio and Siber are not going to be happy with us!

G&B, Mom has always been a Husky fan. She wanted one when she was a little kid, but her folks got a Cocker Spaniel. When mom turned 18, she adopted a Malamute. There was then a series of other kinds of dogs..like a German Shepherd, Australian Dingo, mixed breeds, and a Border Collie. Her first Siberian, a female, she adopted from the pound. My folks are very thankful that all their dogs have lived to old age with them.

Yes, when mom adopted me, she got into Husky Rescue. Like all Rescue groups, she found out that they needed help, and she also learned how many Huskies end up in the pound.

Unfortunately staff has been checking out youtube and watching some blog made by engineers. She picked me up out of my warm (by the radiator) box and started bouncing me up and down and kissing me over and over again. It was very annoying as I had been trying to take a refreshing nap.
To give her a hint I turned my head and pushed her away. She then blew in my ear!!!
    Well!
I gave her a gentle little tap on the head with my right paw. She stopped blowing and looked at me. I raised my paw and looked right back at her.
    She put me down.
She did not say she was sorry.

I’ll have to look at the Laura books, if I ever get my Kindle back. Yup, Zoë has snatched it. She’s reading Franklin & Eleanor by Hazel Rowley. She says she can see the page and it doesn’t hurt her hands.

    (there goes that Christmas present!)

Staff: I sent the link to my sister (mother of the Engineer). I found the guys youtube channel and we sat watching 3 or 4 videos. My favorite was something like “Christmas Laser Cats” or “Christmas Cats Lasers”. It ends up with a fur ball. I thought Riö would enjoy that.

Certainly no offense meant, Bee, but sometimes I have to wonder if you have been living in a cave. Like I said, no offense meant, just sayin….

Mom is getting more interested in the Kindle idea. She does not buy books except at the Half Price Books, and then very infrequently. Godd Evening Everybody. That cat video was pretty funny, but we would have liked it better if at least one of those cats got really, really wet. Mama uses a spray bottle on Sage when he picks on us – he’s a baaaad kitty. Basil’s ok, for a cat. Gilly likes to use him as a dust mop. If she finds him sleeping on his side, she takes his whole head in her mouth and drags him around the floor. Basil will just look up at Mama and ask her to Please – Get This Puppy Off My Head! He’s too lazy to do much else about it.
Barb and Maggie – we would love to come and herd your goats, but we are cute little ladies, not “guys”.(Well, Tupper is a lady – Gilly is a tomboy)
Rio – we do agree with you about personal issues and the depth of snow, but ladies just don’t discuss that type of thing.
And we like Laura Levine, but our favorites are MC Beaton and Agatha Christie. Tuppence is even named for one of her characters.
Basil and Sage are just named for herbs.

    Dear BStover,
I would think your physics professor friend would have one. At least for his lab coat. He does have a lab coat doesn’t he? For when he rolls things down the hallway…

Dawson got pocket protectors for Dad from American Science and Surplus. Love that site.

    Here is a sample item…

    DRINKING GLASSES

WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD-Small Parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.

Literally. These clear, plastic-tubing faux-specs start in your soda, wrap around your ears and eyes, sit on your nose and end up in your mouth. You slurp and your drink zips around your face and into your yap. The last word in sophisticated beverage consumption. Made of 1/8″ and 1/4″ tubing, the slurp-parts detach for when you’re not drinking. Some folks here believe we got this, despite the fact that it’s in perfect working order, because the package says “It’s suck-sational!”

Melanie – Ha ha again. The man’s lawyers still have their heads. This has to be a difficult case to defend.

Melanie: What day did you post the picture of the stream and snow? I think maybe it had beaver tracks. I wanted to copy it and now I can’t find it. It is so pretty maybe I can figure out how to put it on my desktop.

Pocket Protectors: I found a surplus store that had 3 pocket protectors for a dollar and gave my dad a few packages for Christmas a few years back. “Finally, something I can use,” he said. Saves shirts from those leaking ink pens.

Swear to God – Mr. Bluecat attended an engineering school in the 60s. At freshman orientation there was talk about how to dress, i.e. no white socks with dark pants. He still puts pens in his shirt pocket and sometimes the ink comes out and sometimes it doesn’t. No pocket protector since he married mom.

T & G, We were just sort of using you guys in a generic way, but we will remember from now on to say you gals.

We should all chip in and buy Bee a pocket protector. What do you think?

Hmmm, maybe it’s time to pull them out again….grunt!…Nope, our stack of unread books is way too big to do that sort of extravagant thing…sniff!

Mollie ABP: I’m not sure and now I’m not sure which one I used. Too much de-decorating . . . I’ll try to find it tomorrow.

Staff: THANK YOU! I used to buy from those people. I haven’t gotten a catalog from them for awhile, I get every other catalog in the world that I don’t want.

    Love the geek glasses.

Bluecat: that is funny. I remember when MIT decided to have classes for scientists and engineers in dancing and how to act at social events.

    Man, I’m losing it.

History!… If anyone likes American History and mysteries, you should check out the show called, Brad Meltzer – Decoded…snort!… We watched the first show and are now hooked on it. Stover, you can catch these shows On Demand if you want …grunt!…The first show was about the missing cornerstones of the Whitehouse and the Capital buildings. Those Masons get blamed for everything…heh!

Tupper!…My friend says David Suchet was her actual vision of Poirot that came to life for her after years of reading the books…grunt!…She is still amazed when she sees David play the part of Poirot to such perfection…ahhhh!

Bluecat, Mom’s dad was an aeronautical engineer and my dad is a civil engineer. My dad has never used pocket protectors and, yes, ink sometimes ends up in the pockets.

We do, after all, have engineers in our blog family. Pocket protectors would have saved some shirts.

No, thank dog, Rio, He doesn’t wear white socks with short dark pants.

What a fun day. We do go off in some strange directions at time don’t we? What started the pocket protector discussion – was it the engineer/cat video?

We are about ready to call it a night. As Melanie says TTFN, except tonight she said TTNF. What does that mean?

Crapola!…The Dark Side again….sigh!…My friend just ate a whole Godiva chocolate bar in front of me!…snort!….She’s never done that before. In fact I didn’t think she even liked chocolate that much…sniff!…I don’t think she is her self tonight, except for the fact that she did not give me any of it, that is like her alot…grunt!

Melanie!…She is a bit dyslexic herself and doesn’t know it…heh!…TTFN- usually means, Ta Ta For Now, but in Melanie’s mind it means Till Tomorrow For Now…snort!

  104. Riö - The Evil Pug
    10:25 pm on January 7th, 2011

Opps!… I kept the letters in the right order TTFN, But Melanie uses them otherwise like this TTNF…sniff!…It might mean, ‘Till Tomorrow Night Fossils!’…heh!…Or something like that…grunt!

Our physics professors use laptops in class and labs. No ink pens. And don’t waste money on one for me. I have a Mont Blanc and it doesn’t leak (not that I ever put it in my pocket.)

I’ll check out that show Rio.

I think it is more the engineer types that put the pens in their pockets.

Well, mom just ate two chocolate cookies. I didn’t get any either. I never do.

    Good Night All!!

Hey y’all! Mom and Dad just got home from his basketball game. His team lost :( The good news is that they lost by enough points that everyone on the bench got to play, which is good for Mom. She takes photos of all the boys playing, then puts together a page of individual and team photos for each player at the end of the season. Sometimes she has trouble getting enough photos of some of the benchwarmers and she has to beg Dad to put them in — but the coach is loathe to do that if it’s a close game!!!

Which reminds me, where is my warm soft bed at anyways?…snuffle…off I go to sleep while the great one sings…ahhhh.snorkel… Night everyone…
