Publication Day: THE RIGHT SIDE

And here’s the very first Amazon review:

5.0 out of 5 stars – Please, sir, may I have some more? – June 27, 2017.
Cathy G. Cole (Top 500 Reviewervine Voice) on THE RIGHT SIDE:
This is quite a departure from Spencer Quinn’s Chet and Bernie mystery series. There is no gentle humor. There is no dog’s point of view. No, in The Right Side, Spencer Quinn gives us edginess, uncertainty, and an extremely unpredictable hero with an equally unreadable dog.

LeAnne Hogan is a physical and psychological loose cannon. She’s suffering from her injuries. She’s suffering from PTSD. She’s suffering from feelings of inadequacy and failure. She’s not your usual choice for the hero of a book, and that’s one of the things that makes The Right Side so good. You literally do not know which way LeAnne is going to jump from one scene to the next. Her anger is explosive and frightening, but Quinn portrays her in such a way that we instinctively know that she’s a good person. We want her to get well. We want her to be safe and happy.

This woman needs help, but she’s going to fight everyone who wants to give her that help every single step of the way. She even fiercely resists the dog, but this huge beast of unknown pedigree just ignores her. The dog is just as much a mystery as LeAnne, but you know this relationship will work because of one thing: the dog unerringly protects her blind side.

Quinn gives us two mysteries in The Right Side: one involving the missing child, and one that concerns what really happened to LeAnne in Afghanistan. Both are strong and grab your attention. Another mystery for me is… will Quinn write about LeAnne again? She’s one of the best characters I’ve encountered in a long time, and I wouldn’t mind reading more about her. But sometimes it’s best to see just one adventure in a character’s journey through life. Whatever the author does, I’m certainly glad I met LeAnne– and I hope you’ll decide to meet her, too.

And I have it on my phone now! Not sure when I’ll start reading it, as I have a couple others I’ve started, but maybe I’ll put those on hold for this one?

Good morning! The Right Side is on our Kindle!
Mom is already reading a book she is loving, so The Right Side will be next. The book she is reading right now is At The Water’s Edge by Sara Gruen, who also wrote Water for Elephants, which we never read. We think we will have to add that one to our list now. She just started the book yesterday, and it is very good.

Ok, guys! FYI–Murder by the Book in Houston will have OFA personalize his book signing as you request. If you are interested, the phone number is 888-424-2842. They are a small independent, super cool book store who will be happy to help you.

Admin, don’t let SQ forget my name on that signing! The book is to “Karen and BooBear”. If he gets in a rush and can just put one name, better make it BooBear or Mom will have hell to pay!

And I just noticed that the audiobook narrator for The Right Side is Susan Bennett. That would be the voice of Samantha, which is the original American English voice on the iPhone when Siri first came out, erroneously called “the voice of Siri”. I say erroneously because Samantha was used for a whole bunch of stuff way before Siri, and in addition to Siri, including of course Voiceover on the iPhone/iPad/iPod, among other things. *Huh!*

ML: I am going to ask the Giant if I can get a commercial bedazzler to pull of the wedding. I would ask that Damn Pixie, but she has no sense of flair or fashion. She’s an embarrassment. Don’t judge me by her.

Phooey, my book wasn’t in the mail. Is anyone going to do a SPOLER ALERT and tell us the name of the dog in the book?
Sadie had a 2-pound fat tumor removed from her inner thigh today. I pick her up in a couple of hours with an inflatable pillow collar. I couldn’t bear to put her in a plastic cone even tho the cone would have cost $13 rather than $41. Nothing but the best for our Sadie.
Weddings are a particularly nice celebration to have a Plunderer get together. I wonder if it will be a Texas BBQ and Beerfest or a Champagne and Tuxedo event?

I’m on chapter 15 and still no dog. Well, not The Dog anyway.

I appreciate all the encouragement about the wedding. I hope they have been saving for it, cause Mom is tapped out.

    Happy reading,everybody.

Name!…Is the guys name “RIO” per chance???,,,,grunt!…Can’t wait to read the book of all books, but we here are in the middle of mother getting an unexpected hip replacement, just today!…gasp! …and my friend having to try to design her kitchen and bathroom over the little Go-Phone while she was in the emergency room….bah!…So life is not really good for relaxing and reading right now…grump!

    Spoilers!…NO! NO! NO!….yeeep!

Rio: We have blurred to the hospital to stay with Mother. No doubt it will be a comfort to her to see our familiar faces. On an unrelated note, you may or may not be getting call from the head nurse. It seems that Mother took her new hip for a spin in some slow paced wheel chair races. Her hip corners like it’s on rails.

Mother!…She is being drip drugged…heh!…Who knows what she will do while driving drugged…snort!..I do know she is a very bad loser. So Beware!…heh

Mother dragged her drug dripper behind her wheel chair for the last half of the course. Bad looser? Clearly, you forget we were raised with Belle Starr.
