Am I first?
9:29 am on July 8th, 2014
Good morning all. Barb is going to join the world of technology and figure out how to read this one. She has a Smart phone so I think she can get it there. Excited about August 5th !
HOH, We know what Racing for the Pinks means and also pink slips for being fired, but couldn’t follow your thread last night. We were looking for something on the auction list that said Pinks. Thanks for explaining it. Those things drive Barb bonkers for some reason.
Off to the office where we cannot access C & B. Have a great Tuesday!

Yes! Life has calmed down but mom is still exhausted. Cody and Breena are owing well. So far, so good. Chad is in Oregon and we told him that the only financial help we will offer is a train ticket home so that he can go directly into rehab.

TOV is on my Kindle!
Heavy rain and thunderstorms here.
Good morning all.
11:20 am on July 8th, 2014
Hey everyone. HUGE storms last night. Awoke to no air conditioning upstairs.
Gramp was ready to load the unit in the car and take it back. The Storyteller ( a retired electrical engineer) wanted to check and change fuses and/or the outlet.
The Storyteller worked on it. Gramp “helped”.
There has been no bloodshed.
Yet.

Just wondering what it’s like for OFA to hold a completed book/story in his hands for the first time. All that tippy-typing…
Warm thoughts to all. Happy reading.

Happy new e-story release day to Spence and all of us.
It is on my Kindle but we are saving it to read until this evening because there will be fewer interruption.
I may need some cheering up anyway after today’s World Cup game.
Wose, Interesting that The Sound and the Fury is already in some B&N stores. I have pre-ordered it from Amazon.
Wolfie, Good to hear from you.

Good morning all. I am having an energy rating done on my house today. The state has a special energy program where homeowners get reimbursed some costs for energy upgrades. I will be given a report and if I can increase the rating by doing the upgrades, I will qualify for some reimbursement. I think the maximum amount is $10,000. I have taken a series of classes about various systems in a home so am much more knowledgeable. It is kind of depressing since I had bought a very nice house and hadn’t wanted to have to do any work on it–but it was built in 1993 and building science has improved a lot.
I was up passed midnight searching for a lost item which I did find but the wasted hours weighs on me. But I can say that the lost item for once was not my fault.
In the absence of HOH, I hope everyone has a Titillating Tuesday reading the new e-mystery.

Hi Chet & Bernie!
Charlie doesnʻt have to grow so fast if you have more adventures in a year – Iʻve told others about Charlie riding on Chet the Jet and they have such good imaginations that now they are fans, too!
Enjoying you very much-just downloaded new e book-thanks!
Sincerely Roni

I got it! It was easy on this ipad. I am not sure how I paid for it but A Tail of Vengeance is now in my ibooks place. I will read it later.
I have to move a wood pile so the worker’s and equipment can easily get into the back yard. Siber H and all digger dogs are invited to do some big time excavating around the foundation of this house.
3:18 pm on July 8th, 2014
WOW! Dawson. I am experienced in digging around foundations. I’m digging a basement for my house. Zeus and I could get the job done in no time.

Grump!…My Kindle is in a cupboard and I cannot get to it. Plus, it probably has dead batteries…sniff!…Someone will have to charge it up before I can get my paws on TOV…grump!

HOH, did you order the story either through iBooks or through Amazon?
6:00 pm on July 8th, 2014
Rio: I’m glad she’s better. I meant to say earlier that Bayer Aspirin has a pill for “Back & Body” pain–that’s the name on the label. It works quite well.
6:12 pm on July 8th, 2014
Love this:

Siber, I think Rose was talking about The Sound and the Furry being out in paperback at B & N. Did you mean that you preordered P & O?
Wolfie, How is Jace? Stay strong with Chad. Did Cody get into rehab as you were hoping?
7:51 pm on July 8th, 2014
C. Hobbit–I love the flow chart! It was the only thing on this blog I could understand (except about the e-story, which I knew was due today). Stay away for a day or so and watch what happens.
(I guess I’d better go back and catch up.)
Later…

HOH, you have to turn the wireless on on the Kindle.

Rio, the Brazilians in the stands were sobbing.
9:26 pm on July 8th, 2014
We were too busy to post yesterday evening but want to give a clap, clap, clap again for all the work at Auction Central. We are told by our Lady that a lot of behind the scenes work goes on at AC, but the skilled paws of Rio and Teddy make it look easy.
Bravo to Spence on another great tail! Or is it tale? Either way, we love TOV.
9:28 pm on July 8th, 2014
Was their mention of eyebrows and their language in TOV? I wonder if Bernie can shed any light on the whereabouts of my eyebrows.
9:33 pm on July 8th, 2014
We will bid on Masquers’ special brownies. Can he make a sample batch now?

Took mom to the oncologist today. He wants to redo the biopsy for more answers. Hurry up and wait, hurry up and wait. And we have to go for blood work and such before the surgery. Two more trips to Arlington this week. Cowboy Stadium is in North Arlington, pretty close. Doc is in South Arlington, not so close. Have I mentioned that I am not a big fan of freeway driving? No? Well…
9:36 pm on July 8th, 2014
Oh, and here is the latest on the type of cancer. First doc said stage 0, second doc said stage II. Here is the kicker: both are right, she has two different types of bladder cancer.
9:43 pm on July 8th, 2014
Macy: I will wait for you and yours under the Quilt. You are in the prayers of us here at the kennel.
9:45 pm on July 8th, 2014
Wyatt, you are quite a guy. Thanks.
9:54 pm on July 8th, 2014
ML, Hopefully both types can be treated with the same chemo. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
10:00 pm on July 8th, 2014
So, last night Dad ran into a black cow on a dark road on a dark night. Needless to say, the folks are car shopping. The old car was a 1997 Gutless Siberoo but it got them where they were going. Their other car is a Toyota Camry which needs lots of repairs needed. So, it looks as if there will be Payments for awhile.
Bummer.
10:07 pm on July 8th, 2014
Yes, Cody is in a rehab in Fresno. I understand he is doing a great deal of grieving, having wasted the last three years of his life. Jace will be one year old on Friday. We can see him after court on Thursday. Once Breena is guaranteed residency in her program, Jace should be returned. Cody and Breena’s rehabs are only a few minutes apart, so they can see each other on weekends. It has been a most difficult journey but mom feels hopeful.
10:08 pm on July 8th, 2014
Love, love love TOV!
10:09 pm on July 8th, 2014
Hi everyone! We are several episodes behind here on the blog.
Must do some catching up.
ML: Thank Kat you have retained your sense of humor. In spite of everything you continue to make us smile with the funny quips and cartoons.
An extra big batch of special brownies coming up!
10:12 pm on July 8th, 2014
ML: Cancer has got to be one of the most frustrating diseases ever. And then add navigating the medical system and driving on freeways! Two different cancers? Aarrrgh! Sending calming energy and “you can do this” chants along with a big hug and a box of chocolates with only a few missing.
10:16 pm on July 8th, 2014
ML: Wow, two different types of bladder cancer but treatable.
I am still undeservedly basking the the afterglow of another successful auction. Thanks to everyone: donors, bidders (especially to #1 and #2 that brought in 50% of the $$$) and all the behind-the-scenes work. I guess Teddy had to send out 50 emails to the winners after everything was bid and done? A lot of work! Hopefully he has rested and recovered. I thought I had ended up with one item but I got two (my check in the mail tomorrow, I promise)
Also tomorrow I have to make an icky phone call. The landscaping company that I booked in mid-May keeps giving me new start dates and not showing up. I know that this is their busiest time of year but I want them to stop lying to me. It is time for me to tell them that I have lost patience especially since they required 50% down right up front. They have had my money for weeks and I have nothing but weeds to show for it. I want to have things done next week for sure so I have a chance of some enjoyment before winter hits which is just around the corner. It is time for another client to be inconvenienced. {{{sigh}}}
I get my energy audit report tomorrow. The evaluator thinks that I might qualify for $4,000 rebate if improvements are done. His major suggestions will cost much more than that but at least I will get something to help.
I will lurk in later but just in case I don’t post…oodles of noodles
10:18 pm on July 8th, 2014
Wolfie, Moving in the right direction it seems. Keep your paws crossed.
Poor cow. Hate to sound like an insurance agent, but the owner of the cow should have liability insurance that will cover damages to your dad and his car. Poor cow.
Night all.
10:19 pm on July 8th, 2014
Oh yeah.
From TOV: “…Malcolm, who made a pile of money in software and had really long toes.” Snort! I love that!
10:27 pm on July 8th, 2014
Toes!…Are toes involved!…sniff!…Now I am even more impatient that my Kindle is STILL charging…grumble!wasa-frussa-wassa-grump!
10:28 pm on July 8th, 2014
Back!….Did I mention we are all back from a really long walk…wheeze!…Then she had to water some stuff in pots that Beau and I cannot reach…heh!heh!
10:28 pm on July 8th, 2014
Basil!….That low-lying Basil is looking mighty perky these days…chuffle!snort!
10:28 pm on July 8th, 2014
If it is “open range”‘ where Wolfie’s dad hit the cow, the cow’s owner is not liable. We have open range here in this state.
I’m glad Wolfie’s dad wasn’t hurt.
10:37 pm on July 8th, 2014
Never thought about open range. No such thing here in Illinois. Do they have it in CA? You are right, Siber, if the cow was not reqired to be behind a fence then there is no liability.
10:42 pm on July 8th, 2014
24!…Back to 24…wheeze!gasp!
Beau!…He is worrit about the Kow….sniff!…There is nothing he can do about a kow who stands in the road, but he thinks otherwise…grunt!
10:55 pm on July 8th, 2014
Where I live there was not too long ago a problem of cows tearing up homeowners yards. This happened on the edge of the city but within the city limits. The law stated that the guy who owned the cows was not responsible for the destruction. It was up to the homeowners to fence out the cattle and repair the damage.
If you are a cow in this state, you will win in court.
10:59 pm on July 8th, 2014
CHobbit: Did you get the message we sent to your go-phone?
11:00 pm on July 8th, 2014
Kows!…They rule in New Mexico!…heh!heh!…This explains a lot….snort!
DAWG!…We are all caught up on 24 and this season is AMAZZZZING!…Zow!Pow!…We are still off balance from what just went down at the end of the latest greatest episode….snort!…How did we ever live our lives without Jack Baur and Company?…snuff!
11:01 pm on July 8th, 2014
Yep, open range. We’re worried we might be liable for the value of the cow.
We here are worrit about ML’s maw. Seems as if it is always something, doesn’t it?
11:03 pm on July 8th, 2014
We here don’t like driving freeways either.
11:06 pm on July 8th, 2014
Wolfie, I hope not.
Night All
11:11 pm on July 8th, 2014
Freeways! Driving! Nana could NOT Believe how Slow her sister drove. She doesn’t Look Old but one would never know it to see her behind the wheel. And, only Sharon was allowed to drive because of the insurance.
When returning their car at the Duluth Airport they spotted a Bumper sticker saying: Cancer Sucks! Yes, It Does.
11:11 pm on July 8th, 2014
SiberH!…What? You are not going to stay up and watch the Rockies lose this game?…heh!heh!…Me neither, probably…yawn!burp!
11:13 pm on July 8th, 2014
Bear!…I thought everyone was old and drove slow in Duluth…heh!heh!
11:15 pm on July 8th, 2014
Rio: We know if your Friend drinks brandy it will help her back, but how many beers do you need to drink until her back feels better?
11:22 pm on July 8th, 2014
Cut-off!…I am cut off from beer ever since the Auction ended…gruffle!…Someone took one sniff of me after my Auction Central Duty and said I needed to dry-out…grunt!
11:26 pm on July 8th, 2014
Just checking in in between thunderclaps.
Wolfie – jeez – sorry about the car, but is your dad ok?
ML – jeez- freeways, doctors and biopsies. Oh my.
We are all here for you, girlfriend.
Hi Bear, Masquers and Nana! You were sorely missed on this here blog.
Hoping Staff is recovering well.
11:27 pm on July 8th, 2014
Rio: Do you think swimming in the vat of beer with your mouth open had anything to do with it?
11:34 pm on July 8th, 2014
Thieves!…That is one possibility…sniff!…I need to figure out how to chew gum with my jumble teeth…grunt!…But then all that diving I just can’t disguise the smell…heh!heh!…I’ve got it! We need to install a shower at Auction Central…Wooooo!…That would help a lot. Is that in our new budget? …heh!heh!
11:34 pm on July 8th, 2014
We are making a mental note for future disguises. If ever going under cover as a black cow on a dark night make sure to have safety reflectors from nose to tail. We are glad Wolfie’s paw is safe.
11:40 pm on July 8th, 2014
Budget!…This reminds me, I have never gotten paid for working at Auction Central..sniff!…Does this mean I am volunteering my time and effort?…grunt!…Like as in I give and do not receive?..sniff! …This concept is hard to swallow sometimes, but when I think of the folks and all the dawgs who benefit from living at Snowhook Kennel, then I don’t feel like I am outta pocket. I feel like I am helping something bigger than those dang rabbits in my back yard…heh!heh!
12:22 am on July 9th, 2014
Rio: Hosed! Our lady says we can use the hose from the kennel to spray the beer off of us for no additional expense. We told her you might want her to come up with other options like a jetted tub.
More to Rio: Hope! We try to keep you in beer and hot wings as much as possible for services rendered. Our hope is that all youse Plunderers know how much we appreciate your support in any form in which it comes. Sniff. Sniff. We don’t want to be the rabbits in anyone’s backyard unless, of course, they like rabbits.
We hope Staff is healing quickly and that the dancing giraffes are warming up for an interpretive dance number.
Our lady has an early and long day tomorrow. Nighty noodles.
12:28 am on July 9th, 2014
Wow, be off the blog a few hours and you miss a black cow being hit on a dark night. Keep us posted Wolfie as to what the insurance says. Hopefully your insurance might help with the replacement of your car. Even with open range laws, I don’t see how you could be faulted for not seeing the cow. Fingers crossed for rehab to be successful this time.
BSD: I remember driving my Dad on a freeway in Illinois. It was scary for me with my background of limited roads in Alaska. I was pressing my car to go faster and got up to 65. The speed limit was 75 (I had never gone that fast) Everyone was passing me like I was standing still. I did finally get it up to 75 but everyone was still passing me. My 80-year old Dad kept telling me to go faster.
Wyatt: checked and responded
12:36 am on July 9th, 2014
Thieves: I like rabbits; they can be in my backyard any time. Right now they would be chowing down on weeds. 🙂
Rio: I know it is way too early but is the next auction in October??? I still have a couple of things to offer for next time and will keep my eyes open for more possibilities. It will be good timing for Christmas’ or New Years’ gifts. (I can’t figure out the apostrophe and need Bee’s help)
10:08 am on July 9th, 2014
I don’t think apostrophes are needed in either case.
