Can I leave the wireless on the Kindle One Touch turned on at night and Amazon will deliver ACWI even if the Kindle is sort of turned off. It puts itself to sleep after 10 minutes of non-use.

Great card for AJ. We are not usually able to view Rio’s greeting cards on our iPaw, because iPaws don’t have Flash, but we could watch this one.
Our Kindle does not use our home’s WIFI; it just uses Amazon’s “Whispernet” 3G network. So that way, we can get new books anywhere we are, like at the beach or on a cruise. We are fairly certain that the newer Kindles would work the same way. And we really doubt that the Nook would work differently.
So while we never let our Kindle wireless on to use up the battery, we just may let it on tonight. Or maybe we will just turn it on tomorrow morning and wait for the book to download. It never takes long.

Sad day here. Little Ishmael crossed the rainbow bridge this morning. He was still with us when Mom checked on him first thing this morning but he was fading fast. Mom was able to sit with him and love on him for a little while then he crossed. He declined very rapidly from Sat morning til this morning. Poor baby was only about 1 1/2 years old. Mom was glad he didn’t suffer much and crossed on his own timetable. That isn’t always possible. Thank you guys for all the kind thoughts.

Siber and Bear, our mom did indeed go to her v-e-t, Dr. Doc. She is now on some strong steroids and more antihistamines, and she has an appointment with an al-ler-gist, whatever that is. She also has an epipen to use in case of emergency, as Dr. Doc says that these reactions tend to get worse each time. Mom has been thru these rashes in the past, but never this bad and never to the point of her face becoming so swollen. Dr. Doc was most concerned with the lips swelling, as that is just one step removed from tongue and throat swelling. Hence the epipen.
Keep all paws crossed that the culprit here is not her beloved tomatoes.

I have this image in my mind of what baby Ish’s crossing looked like once he made it from our side to the other side of the Bridge. All well intending, our Beloveds must have eagerly awaited his arrival. No doubt he was greeted by the cat he met in passing last year as he made his way from the brush—cold and alone—to Karen’s arms and Gus and BooBear’s home. It was a reunion.
Surely, baby Ishmael would be eased in slowly to life on the other side of the Bridge. Have you ever met a newf with no warning? I can see him, just like his photo that appears Up Top every now and again welcomed first by his kind. The sleek coated felines, some with stripes, some with blue eyes and others with green, and one with whiskers showing the remnants of his previous snack—cheese—purr and paw their welcome.
Next a flying squirrel and then the canines. I can see the dogs wagging their tails and pouncing down on forelegs with their haunches extended in the air. “Welcome!” they woof. “We’ve been keeping an eye on you, kit,” they inform. Introductions were made—Mollypop, Howard, Teddy, Rory, Brandi, Boris, a certain SpiritDog, and many others who are missed every day.
I can also see Ish wearing a soggy bagel like a life preserver around his middle. How else was River Bear, the great Newf, supposed to say, “Nice to meet you, Ish,” if he didn’t drop the bagel? And, how was it his fault that Ish was standing directly under his mouth?
I can hear the conversation between Bridger and Rowdy—the former the caretaker of the latter. “Easy Rowdy. Just because they are small, kittens are not squeaky toys. Easy, easy, easy.” By way of greeting, I can see Rowdy nudging the little guy with his snout and wagging his tail while Bridger breathes a sigh of relief.
I can also see that Bridge will be crossed today and in days to come by those on the other side—including Ishmael riding atop a Newf— to tuck the quilt around the shoulders of Karen while she holds Gus and BooBear in her lap.

Thanks for the library reminder, Rio. We just canceled our Netflix DVD subscription. Too expensive for both DVD and streaming. Gus&BooBear, Thanks for the photo. He was such a cute little guy when he was a kitten. I remember you posting his picture then. You guys rescued him and gave him love, care, and life. He will be missed, but he is waitng for you at Rainbow Bridge.

Karen, Gus and BooBear – we haven’t had a chance to check in until now. But even tho we didn’t know, little Ish was in our prayer tonight. We know he was safe and happy with you – now he is safe and happy again, surrounded by loved ones and peace.
AJ – we would be happy to help you finish up any of that leftover cake…..
Barb – hope the moving stuff is getting a little less stressful.
Mama just told us that they now have to leave on Sunday instead of next Monday. But at least their hotel has wifi so they will keep in touch with us while they are gone.

Walk!…When we were about done with our long walk tonight when an old man walked his walked across the wide street and told my friend most of his life-story…heh!heh!…So our long walk took even longer, but Beau and I got a good rest right there towards the end…snort!…My friend says saying “Hi” to old guys in walkers is dangerous, even if they are way across the street…chorkel!sneeze!

Rio: I just picked up a an ice cream cake from the store. I know AJ will have eaten all of the cake Melanie made him by the time I get home so this is the only way I will get a taste. I asked if they could write “Happy birthday AJ from the team and the evilest of pugs!”. But they said no, there wasnt space for the last word.

Rio, I m sort of reading and sort of watching the game. BTY The Rockies are ahead by 5 runs in the seventh.
Mom says there is no point in setting and glaring at my Kindle. That won’t make the story appear any sooner.
We really don’t have to do anything to the Kindle. The next time we turn it on, ACWI will download as long as we have already ordered it.

I don’t know why or how I was able to get the book early. I didn’t pre-order and thought I might tonight so a certain story would be there when I woke up tomorrow morning. It downloaded and I looked over my shoulder to make sure the short story police weren’t coming to get me. Once I determined the coast was clear, I began to read and didn’t stop.
Fantastic! A truly fantastic prequel!
