Post Mortem

“How was the event at Titcomb’s Bookshop on Cape Cod?” Admin says. “Anyone throw anything?”

“Not that found the target,” Spence says.

“Did you read from A Fistful of Collars?”

“I did.”

“First reading, right? So what did you pick?”

“The boxing scene.”

“Ah.”

Welcome close-up dude, Charlotte & Carla.

Tomorrow: Official pub date of A Fistful of Collars.

Dawson – heh heh. We were going to box them up, but it was more fun to stick our tongues out at them from the back window of the car as we waved goodby. Cuz we’re goin’ to the beach, and they’re NOT!

I will have to wait until my signed book is sent from Houston in Texas. Sob, sob, sob, whimper.
But I am reading some Tony Hellerman so it won’t be so bad. And that reminds me that SiberH should be back from his camping trip anytime now. G

Siber H isn’t due back until tomorrow as I recall.

I’ve been thinking about satire. The series may be satirizing human arrogance or our belief that we’re superior to any other living creature. Where would Bernie be without Chet? (And, of course, we’re the only species to develop weapons of mass destruction. Don’t get me started.)

I’m leaving for Sam’s soon. I’ll be very busy with social things and routine doctor stuff for a couple of days, then I can start reading Chet.

    Good Afternoon All,

I hate grocery shopping. But it is now done.

It’s 60 degrees here and breezy. Yummers.

Jesse is helping me with a Christmas present to myself. He has cleared an area of “wilderness” to the rock point of our property. I will be putting down that weed suppressant fabric. At the point? A bench.

I don’t mind the leaves falling all over (that’s pretty), but the thorned whatever plants I don’t want.

    Where’s Rose?

Good afternoon all. Have been busy with our go to guy, Eric. He is putting up new light fixtures (out with the brass, in with the pewter), installed the new dish washer, and gas stove. He will be here all day, puttering with a bunch of little improvements.

We also love Downton Abbey. Something to look forward to in the winter.

Dawson, what Hillerman are you reading? We read quite a few, mostly the Leaphonr/Chee series. Loved them!

“Post Mortem” is being used metaphorically. It’s an evaluation of something after the event. Does it necessarily mean that one would change something if one could? It’s been used before–February 6, 2012, for example when Spence and Admin were discussing the Super Bowl of the day before.

Barnes and Noble comes through again. They got the book out on the shelves one day early and dad already bought it.

We love Downton Abbey also. We actually had Dowton Abbey dinner parties last year with some friends through the entire seven weeks it was on, and are looking forward to doing it again next January. Shirley MaClaine will be playing Cora’s mom, and she and Maggie Smith as opposite one another should be absolutely terrific.

Yes, Tony Hillerman is sorely missed.

Yep, the boxing scene was awesome good writing in my book, and I’ve writ a thing or two in my life. Today was my rookie appearance at the Rescue Ink no-kill animal shelter. I started off with a two hour stint cleaning cages for the kittens area. I didn’t mind poop as much as dishing out wet cat food, but you do what you gotta do. Then I mentioned that I had a camera with me, and the office manager who signed me up thought there might be a need for appealing cat pictures for the web, so I spent a wonderful half hour in the catdominium taking closeups. A great day for sure.

Love the Catdominium. Looks like a great place to play.

My other pumpkin (smaller) is still green but is off the stem. That’s because I very carefully tried to figure out which part of the stem was connected to the ground. I was wrong.

We don’t normally go out to the AMC website for fear of spoilers. This interview did not have any spoilers for the final season in it. Thank dawg!….grunt!…. Here is a quote that we particularly like from Vince because, well, it also reminds us of one of The Charming Mr. Abrahams books…heh!heh!…The interviewer was lamenting the fact that the show is ending too early…..sniff!

“I hate the thought of the show peaking in quality and then going into some sort of long, slow, inexorable slide into mediocrity. I would rather risk going out a little too soon than going out a moment too late. Having said that, I think we’ve got the right number of episodes at 62 episodes of TV. And I just couldn’t feel any luckier than I feel having had the opportunity to do the show and have it work out better than I ever saw it in my wildest dreams.”

Sept.11th!….Finally the day will be upon all youse guys who do not already have a copy of A Fistfull Of Collars….snort!….I bet some of you will read it in one sitting and finish it way before me and my friend. I’m telling you we are reading every single word and sentence, savoring the writing, the story and the feelings. My friend needs this book right now. She does not need to fly through it. She needs to relax and enjoy every word our author has written….snuff!… I predict you will all LOVE it because it is the BEST YET! If that is even possible. The very best yet!….Heh!…And I’m not just saying that because I am reading an autographed and paw-printed copy….chuffle! ((twirling!))… We here can only imagine what would happen if The Charming Mr. Abrahams and the Wiley Mr. Vince Gilligan ever got together and created characters for a story set in the desert….whoa! ….It would be mind-blowing and Academy Award winning for sure. …chuffle!….Enjoy the Story!….Woooooooo!

my human just woke me up-it is still dark- is this woman crazy? Thank you all for you nice comments on my beach picture. I just do the posing. It was taken on my favorite beach where the sharks don’t swim. T&G -I am not allowed to eat lobster, which I do not believe is fair.

The news man just said some man tried to smuggle a primate on to a plane in his underpants. Do you think the monkey was wearing underpants or the man was hiding the mrimate in is underpants? Either way it should make Rio laugh (shorty snort).

Mom likes to read youse posts cause youse make her laugh . Thanks for letting us troll around. Have a great day and remember you need to take a break from reading AFOC to take your friends from the nation within the nation for walks or at least out to…you know.

Barb, we believe you asked earlier. The bookstore will dictate the order of signings and questions. Where we get to see SQ, he comes out and does a reading, answers questions and then does individual signings. That is when pictures can be taken with him. Remember, you can bring his previous books with you to be signed and pawtographed too. The store may have a limit on how many books you can have signed at one time. Our bookstore also assigns numbers for the signing so there is no push and shove to get up to the table.

Staff made our badge. We had it lamiated and wear it attached to a lanyard around our neck.

We get to see SQ Friday evening and Dad is even going!!
