“Did you watch the game?” Spence says.

“Yup,” says Admin.

“How would you characterize it?”

“Over.”

Good morning, y’all! Hope everybody’s recovered from the party last night. Thanks to T&G for being such great hosts!

Poor Admin! We here were rooting for New England, since Mom and Dad used to live at Fort Devens (which was just outside of Boston until the budget slashers in Washington wiped it off the map!), but I don’t think we’re feeling the hurt nearly as much!

Good morning Spencer and Admin and Kirby. Our aunt and uncle also were at Ft. Devens for awhile.
How about that Justin Tuck? YAY! As he was the only N.D. Player in the game, we had to go with the Giants. (whispering) sorry Admin.

Bummer!… Nothing is worse than your team getting that far and then dropping the ball…grunt!… Poor Spencer and Admin. Remember there is always next year…sniff!

Check-list! …. Thanksgiving – done! Christmas – done! New Years Eve – done! Super Bowl – done!….snort!….Acadamy Awards – Soon!….sniff! ….This means that Spring Training is right around the corner!…Yipppeeeeee!

OH: When were your aunt and uncle there? Mom and Dad were there from 1982-1986. They really liked it up there. When Mom was doing some genealogy for Dad’s family, she discovered some of his ancestors lived right near Fort Devens, in Acton. If only she had known that when they lived there! One of these days she’d like to go back so she can find records and tombstones.

Morning all. Sorry we didn’t get to see each one of you last night. Mama was in the kitchen cooking hot wings as fast as she could. She is wandering around saying things like “hot wings
, clam chowda. Boot rear floats …. never again. Dad asked her this morning if she would make spaghetti for dinner. Mama turned the most interesting shade of green and left the room ….quickly!
And today is the final ending chapter of “The Sofa that Wouldn’t Die”. The skinny little girl is coming to get it today. Hooray. We will have the garage back.
And now if you will forgive us, we are going to lay down with Mama. And WE didn’t even eat all that stuff that she did.

Good morning. We had a great time last night. Sorry the hostess with the mostess is feeling over-indulged this morning.

We want to post a pic from this weekend, but we may need help again. This came in as Bitmap, not JPeg, and we don’t know how to change it. Yesterday Staff fixed our other photo. If this is the same, you have to click on the link. Sorry, but it is a cute one.

Rose, You asked about my possible motherhood. Another week or 2 before those OFA reports come in, then Barb will decide my future. Rats!

    I’m sorry the Patroits lost.
The IDITAROD is next!! WOO WOO
Then, Spring taining and BASEBALL season.
These thoughts cheer me up because it is a depressing morning:

Mike Ellis and his faithful team of Siberians had to scratch from the Quest. Musher injury…He was travling across a side glacier and his sled slipped out from under him and he fell onto his shoulder and dislocated it. He made it into the next checkpoint with one arm and took care of the dogs with one arm, but then he knew he shouldn’t continue. sob, sob, sob

Kirby, our aunt and uncle were there in the 70s, way before our time. They were both in the army and that was the last station where Mom’s sister was posted before she was out of the army. She met her future husband while there. She lived in Sharon we think. When she got out of the army, she moved to Boston. Her husband stayed in the army. He was Green Beret, Special Forces and Lt. Colonel.

Maggie, that picture is too darn adorable.

Good morning. Why I am feeling so well after 5 hours of sleep, I don’t know.

So Bernie hasn’t gambled in a while. I’ve lost track, is his watch still in hock so he had nothing to lose (not that that has stopped him in the past). Perhaps he has been going to Gamblers Anonymous meetings? Or maybe Chet has him my the pant leg and and growls when he gets near the phone.

OH: Way before my time, and even before my Mom and Dad’s time! Dad was Airborne Ranger, but never did the Special Forces thing. Mom and Dad had a friend who ended up a general in the Special Forces. He was a tough guy — when his son fell of a slide and hurt his arm, he told the 2-year-old to “suck it up.” Then they found out the arm was broken. Oops!

Time for Mom to turn off the computer and head off to work. Hope y’all have a great day!!!

Hi everyone – Mama is laying low today – still a little green about the gills as our Gramp likes to say. Better than this morning, but she won’t be eating anything more challenging than almond milk smoothies for the day.
Melanie is ok – she had a lot or errands to do for herself and Zoe – And she was doing some fun stuff too. She probably won’t be home til almost dinnertime, and we have a feeling she is going to be pretty exhausted by then.

We may be back later tonight too – for now, we are taking turns between the bedroom, the Mud Room and another room that is close by. BBL

Iron!…Is that Lance Mackey guy an Iron-Man or what?…snort!… The Yukon Quest is a grueling race. He will spend over a week running it and then have a short little rest and then start running the Iditarod…grunt! ….Is this his full time job?…wheeze!

  39. Siber-H
    4:41 pm on February 6th, 2012

Lance Mackey is not an Iron Man, but he has a very strong will. He almost died of cancer and he says his dogs saved his life. He just hung out with them while he was undergoing treatment. He has other health problems, if I remember correctly.
One year he won both the Quest and the Iditarod back to back.
Yes, mushing is his full time job because of his success at long distance dog racing. When mushers get that famous they are paid to endorse products and give speeches.

All paws are crossed that AJ can become a full time musher. Not many can do this because long distance dog mushing is so expensive.

Siber-H, so sorry to hear about the Sibes and musher. I am glad it wasn’t the dogs that were hurt. Sam, congratulations on the commercial! T&G, make your mum lie down! And hello to everyone else.

Today was a difficult day. The Rehab place put Dan’s release date down incorrectly AGAIN. So he got all excited. He had just talked to the doc on Friday and knew what was happening but that was Friday. Yesterday, he called and all h**l broke loose. He got mad because Zoe said he wasn’t ready yet. He said they were letting him go …
So I called the Manor and they told me he had this release date for three weeks. I said that was incorrect and made sure that they knew I was upset and coming there today.

So the Bulldozer went down. I was told by Dan that he had fixed it all and I said that was nice but I was still going to talk to them. He was not pleased.

I began the conversation by announcing that they had a communication problem at the facility and that I was not happy. I then had all the bosses in with me in a matter of minutes and we figured the whole thing out. PT said Dan is not ready to leave. He can barely walk with the walker without falling and they are just beginning to do stairs. Next week there will be a home visit, with Dan and the PT person so he can see what Dan needs to work on. Then there will be a all hands on deck meeting. THEN it will be decided when he can come home. Our main concern is to make sure he can get around so he doesn’t have to GO BACK!

I went to tell Dan and was yelled at, and told off and told to keep out of it. He had a life there and we needed to realize that, and he wasn’t talking to Zoe and I was to tell her …

A pause. Now for those of you who think that I’m a laid back sort of personality, you are right up to a point. I had reached that point.

I was very nice, but told him that if he had something to say to Zoe he was going to tell her himself, because I don’t play games like that. He was not pleased. I then changed the subject and we parted on good terms.

I then had to go to MY new doc and was told that my blood pressure was high. Imagine that! Now I’m on blood pressure meds. By the time I came home, Dan had called and told Zoe that he had changed the whole thing again. What he changed it to made no sense. I called the PT people and Gary asked me if I knew Dan had a memory problem. Nothing has been changed. They will not change anything without talking to me.

Very hard day. Most of the time Dan is okay, but he hit new heights this morning.

Sorry to vent. I miss my Dad.

Here is what the Fairbanks paper said about Ellis dislocating his shoulder during the Quest:
“Ellis managed to pop the shoulder back into place while on the trail. He slung his arm inside his coat, but was not able to get his parka back on. Maybe it helped, he said, since the cold numbed his arm and dulled the pain.”

An article with photos about the Quest is here:

Melanie, what a day you had! So sorry about Dan, but you have to realize that it really isn’t him that is acting that way. You have to take charge and do what is safe for him and all concerned. Sometimes our parents can no longer be the decision makers, and it is hard to make that transition.

Tell your girls that was Gus and Lily in the picture, cuddling next to the fireplace. Gus is single, but I don’t think the girls would get too far with him. He is missing some of his vital parts.

Foiled!….Poor SiberH, he was looking forward to up to two weeks of following Ellis and his Sibers on the Yukon Quest….grunt!….What a disappointment for him and his gal…sniff!… Seems like this year is starting off with disappointments galore so far. Not good. Although, if we get all the major ones out of the way, maybe the rest of the year will go okay until the Solar Flares take away all of our power source …wuffle!

Goodnight!…SiberH! Sleep tight and don’t dig in yer sleep…heh!

Staff, We wrote you and thanked you for fixing our picture, but don’t know what happened to the post. Maybe we refreshed before hitting submit. Anyway, what we said was that we will contact you on your SDD to have you explain how to change the snap from Bitmap to JPeg, which is how we usually upload our photos.

Rio, Maybe Lily’s sweater was soaking up all the drool.

Sorry we are party poopers tonight, Rio. God night all.

I’m going to guess that I’m late to the party once again. I think I will wait until tomorrow to post a picture of a picture that I hope will brighten everyone’s day.

Before I forget: I received pictures of a young Wookie in his first snow and the beautiful Magpie today as well as two additional lucky pennies (from heaven)!

Howlers: Glad you like the calendar! It seemed to take forever to get to you.

Somehow, and I’m not sure how, the keyboard of the laptop is covered in syrup. It wasn’t like that when I left for work this morning. There are 48 potential perps to choose from—I think I’ll start with the two-legged.

Oh, SiberH, sorry you are feeling bummed. Sending you hugs, tummies, and rubs.

Sleep well. Everything will seem better in the light of the new day.
