Good Morning!
Hey, Everyone, Check out the Big News this morning on yesterday’s blog.
11:46 am on September 18th, 2013
Greetings!
HRH,B: An interesting Google Doodle.
Teddy RR, has his own avatar and will be posting. How cool is that!
Good early afternoon all!
Getting my flu shot today.
11:49 am on September 18th, 2013
Rose and the Prof: Youse are the greatest. We here are so excited and so relieved to know that there will be a brand spanking new finishing sled waiting after the horrible parts of the trail. Thank you Thank you Thank you.
HOH to Hotlanta today!!! Woo Hoo! More pictures!
11:53 am on September 18th, 2013
Spence is flying across the country!
Teddy RR has an avatar! Welcome Teddy! I will try to stop mom from referring to you as cute, adorable, and huggable. You are growing into a fine young dude.
Wose, Thank you and Grizz for the donation of the sled to AJ. I know this sled means a lot to him and Rebecca. It will be a big help to him during the Iditarod.
11:57 am on September 18th, 2013
Howlers: Yes, the HOH (maybe only one, not the whole herd. lol) will see OFA tonight. So exciting!
Bella: Have a good trip. Can’t wait to see you next month!
(whispering) could you really join Rose & the Prof to meet the terrific Chevy Chase trio? How kool would that be!
12:07 pm on September 18th, 2013
That is one fine looking sled!!!
No thank yous necessary for Grizz and I. That was our way of thanking the Giant and the Pixie for one the most unforgettable moments in our lives, and for their kindness and hospitality. We truly have no words to describe what our trip to Alaska meant to us both. We speak of it every day.
Those of you going to Alaska this year, well, I hope your trip will be as unforgettable as ours was.
whispering…Belle Starr you know where the key is, next Saturday we will be meeting Teddy and his mom and pop.
GO SNOWHOOK!!
12:18 pm on September 18th, 2013
I am up top! Me Me ME!!!!! (whispering) Why are my eyes closed? Was I sleeping when that picture was taken?
12:37 pm on September 18th, 2013
Heh, heh, heh
12:39 pm on September 18th, 2013
Rose & Grizz: that is one cool sled and a big step forward for Snowhook. Thank you so much!!!
Off to Anchorage today. I packed the car last night and overestimated the amount I could fit in. So…I had planned to stay a week but will be bopping back for a turnaround trip. What’s 740 miles anyway…
We are in the 20s now in the morning and are supposed to have snow flurries the next couple of days. Won’t stick but it feels like winter.
12:41 pm on September 18th, 2013
Masquers: good one!
The joke is on me….I looked out the window (it is 8:35 my time) and there is snow on the ground already.
12:45 pm on September 18th, 2013
CHobbit: I know you will be happy when these long treks are a thing of the past. Is Sadie traveling with you?
As to your weather report…Brrr.
12:55 pm on September 18th, 2013
Wow, didn’t think we’d hear from OFA with travel from Pacific to almost Atlantic. And then a signing tonight, like Kermit T. Frog used to say, “It ain’t easy being seen!
Teddy, have a great trip and a safe trip. With you being so grown up now, Do we have to stop calling you RuffStuff?
Mom is busy, busy busy. Brakes on the Scooter-roo went silly on the way to take care of Grand pusses this a.m. so it is in shop. Mom made the “boys” swear they’d have it done in time. Now she’d packing, almost looks like a vacation.
1:28 pm on September 18th, 2013
Wow! Rose and the Prof, thank you for Snowhook! Not only a good finishing sled, but one made to AJ’s height. This will make his race much more comfortable (if running thru the snow and ice in below zero weather can be in any way comfortable.) You are truly an amazing friend and supporter of the kennel.
Teddy is making his appearance. I had kind of wondered when Wookie’s Dad would change his name to Wookie and Teddy’s Dad! I bet Wookie is very proud of his baby brother.
BooBear
1:31 pm on September 18th, 2013
CHobbit, Be careful out there on the roads. How is your cold? Hope you are feeling tip-top soon.
1:36 pm on September 18th, 2013
Masquers, you are making me laugh.
Rebecca: I have a question about the sled. Since this is a lighter sled than AJs other sled, will he have to take the dogs out on pratice runs before the big race so they can become accustomed to it?
1:36 pm on September 18th, 2013
HOH: Dam mobiles…they pick the worse times to go on the blink. Have a fun, fun and safe trip. We are looking forward to the photo op in Hotlanta mañana.
1:40 pm on September 18th, 2013
Okay. We are missing a Very Important member of our family this morning/afternoon…HRH B…where oh where can B be?
2:38 pm on September 18th, 2013
Mom and Pop have a Tassimo which they love. It makes coffee, latte, and mocha for Mom. It makes tea and chai latte and hot chocolate dor Pop. They get automatic delivery from Tassimo. Early this year, Mom got a notice that her shipment was on hold because her card was no good. Well, that is because her old card expired, and the credit card people had sent her a new one. So she called up and gave it to them. Next shipment, they once again said her old card was no good. They didn’t have a recors of the new card. Mom said she put it on her online account as well as given it to the rep. They said online does not help them, and they had no record. Mom got irate and got a manager on the line. The manager got her info and supposedly made a note on her file that she was not to be asked again. Next shipment, guess what happened AGAIN. Mom was super-irate this time. She gave them the name of the manager she spoke to last time. All to no avail. So she said fine, I will not be getting any more.
Guess what Mr. UPS just now delivered?
Go figure.

I’m very late posting a comment.
Good afternoon all.
3:03 pm on September 18th, 2013
The trips are what they are. Dug the hoses out of the snow this morning and put the lawnmower in the garage.
This is for Siber-H. The “Chet-like” head at the bottom of my frame is Sadie looking at the snow. Hmmm…it might turn up sideways.
3:04 pm on September 18th, 2013
Hi, B! Better Late than not today, I always say.
O’Howlers: Expired Cards can be a problem. No idea why. Is the computer the Problem or the people running it? I am guessing the latter. Other than that…the Tassimo system sounds like a winner. We are going to look into it.
3:06 pm on September 18th, 2013
C.Hobbit: Nice shot of your Snowy Deck (and Sadie-Bear’s head).
3:12 pm on September 18th, 2013
What a wonderful sled for AJ. Excellent Rose and Prof!
Now I have to look at today’s Google Doodle.
3:14 pm on September 18th, 2013

3:22 pm on September 18th, 2013
I love Foucault’s Pendulum.
3:30 pm on September 18th, 2013
Royal Mum, you called it! Loulou goes to Jacqueline’s tomorrow. I’ll be there too but I play with the other doggies. Loulou will have to stay in a crate. Ha ha on her. I hope she gets sheared like a sheep.
3:46 pm on September 18th, 2013
CHobbit, Really cool picture, even sideways!
HRH,B, With no morning post, I thought you had abdicated your throne.
4:01 pm on September 18th, 2013
We are here for a quick in and out. More computer problems! Barb made a shopping trip this morning to check out new computers. We think we have decided on another desk top, since we are used to it, and don’t have much need for portability.
HP has an “all in one”, which has the tower and monitor all together. They said they are phasing out of the separate tower. Any thoughts or experiences with this?
4:11 pm on September 18th, 2013
What do youse think of this:
http://hoh.rollcall.com/don-youngs-wild-kingdom/
4:22 pm on September 18th, 2013
Barb&Magpie: The computer we have now is an Antec, which was unknown to us previously. No problems with it to date. It has a separate disk drive for photos and downloads so always has plenty of space. The monitor is LG. We feel the same as you do and prefer the desktop. If we want the portability of a laptop will probably go with a tablet instead. Recently saw something called a phablet…a 7″ device which is a combination phone and tablet…this particular one made by Samsung, a Galaxy 3 Note, which looked interesting. Maybe will choose this option for our next upgrade in March.
4:27 pm on September 18th, 2013
O’Howlers: Hmmm…Could get Dangerous around them there parts…Way to gather a crowd and make things Interesting.
5:01 pm on September 18th, 2013
We are late jumping in today too – sorry but the beach was calling.
Rose and Grizz – what can we say but WOW!
Teddy – we are looking forward to learning your”voice” on the blog. Right now we are kind of hearing a very young and sassy James Bond. Debonair and sophisticated, with just a touch of Dennis the Menace.
Princess Sammie – make sure they shave her ears.
And now we are on our way to get our lobsters for dinner. And later ( if we have room) a trip to our favorite ice cream stand for Frozen Pudding.
Have we mentioned that the beach is just wonderful?

5:11 pm on September 18th, 2013
Rose: The problem was a chatty neighbor and then having to go shopping.
5:24 pm on September 18th, 2013
HRH, B: Grizz and I have the chatty downstairs neighbor problem, and an even bigger problem going shopping. I’m trying to talk Grizz into having our groceries purchased and delivered by someone at our supermarket.
5:24 pm on September 18th, 2013
Siber-H & all youse Howlers on the Blog: Don’t Forget.

C,Hobbit, Thanks for the snow photo. I needed that today because our electricity has been off for hours and I got hot…no AC
The people on my street called up the electric company at different times to report it, and the company said they have no record of my street existing. sigh
Somehow, they got the power back on anyway.
Bear, Full Wolf Harvest Moon! WOO WOO
5:52 pm on September 18th, 2013

Rose: I’ve been thinking of having groceries delivered but…I sort of like doing it myself.
What is frozen pudding?
Rio: I haven’t watched the last two episodes of Broadchurch yet. I probably won’t get to it until this weekend.
They have shown an ad for the next season of Elementary. It’s set in London, there’s a Lestrade character and the brother of Sherlock but I don’t know if his name is Mycroft.
6:21 pm on September 18th, 2013
B: Behind in watching Broadchurch here also. Time to catch up. We are looking forward to the New Season of Elementary set in London.
The Seattle Mystery Bookshop features an entire section devoted to the Sherlock Holmes books written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It is a Mystery Lover’s Dream.
6:24 pm on September 18th, 2013
Rio, I am totally innocent. I didn’t do it.
6:30 pm on September 18th, 2013
HRH, B: It’s not the shopping I mind, it’s just the people.
6:32 pm on September 18th, 2013
I believe that Elementary’s new season starts September 26.
The gardeners are working here today and when I was carrying my groceries in the guy got off his mower and carried the rest in for me. I thought that was nice.
6:33 pm on September 18th, 2013
Rose: I don’t go to one of the major grocery stores. It’s a privately owned store (there are two in the area) called Hillers. The people are nice. Sorry you have that problem.
6:46 pm on September 18th, 2013
Bee – Frozen Pudding is an elegant nutmeg and cream flavored ice cream with bits of mincemeat or candied fruit. Think frozen Nesselrode pie.
And yes, this slim guy can and will eat 8 lobsters at one sitting. Sometimes we get 10 so I can have a couple.

6:56 pm on September 18th, 2013
And now – nuthin’ but shells, and a big smile.

6:56 pm on September 18th, 2013
Man, Oh Man…Does the Storyteller look Good or what!
A Very Handsome picture!
7:01 pm on September 18th, 2013
Bear, I can see the full Wolf Moon from my busy place windows. Arrrrrooooooooo*cough*
7:03 pm on September 18th, 2013
Wow! Ever since the Storyteller recovered from his surgery he is looking like GQ model. It is so nice to see him healthy, and smilling!!!
7:04 pm on September 18th, 2013
We think frozen pudding is frozen custard. More eggy and richer than ice cream.
Thanks for the iformation BSD.
We are getting 2 copies of Sound signed tomorrow since bro can’t get there. One for Barb and one for Kelly.
7:05 pm on September 18th, 2013
Now for the ice cream part. Oh yeah – the ice cream stand is across the street from the beach where we will go watch the moon over the ocean.
7:05 pm on September 18th, 2013
Thank you Tupper’s Mama. I’ve never heard of Nesselrod pie either but it sounds…unusual.

I wonder if Mollie, A Black Poodle was at the San Francisco signing.
I am catching up (again) on the blog postings, but I don’t have internet access at mom in laws house so…
I saw the most modern tall-sized finishing sled. Wow! That is a great donation to the Snowhook Kennels and the Giant. I am thrilled for them and sending out a big WhooooHooooo to Rose and Griz. You are fantastic!
Helloo to Teddy Ruff Rider.
Leonard and the Lobsters: I can’t believe you ate the whole thing!
I have been devouring salmon candy here on Vancouver Island. It is delicious smoked salmon with a maple syrup glaze.
I saw a majestic eagle soaring in the sky on my morning walk but couldn’t get my camera out in time to get it’s picture.
I might get to see that Wolf Harvest Moon tonight.
I am glad Rio’s house is safe in spite of all the terrible pictures I see of his neighborhood. Yikes!
7:54 pm on September 18th, 2013
Oops! Its picture, not it’s. Heh heh.
8:12 pm on September 18th, 2013
Rio, You are welcome.
Yes, Now that THAT company sent me a new remote I can watch the
Helton specials and the Rockies games once again.

Did Leonard really eat all that lobster? Really?
8:52 pm on September 18th, 2013
Just at the bottom of page 1 of comments:
If I were buying a desktop computer, I’d bypass all the big box brands (especially though not exclusively HP…HP ain’t what HP used to be, especially not since they merged with Compaq) and find me a locally owned little computer store. Have one custom built. This will avoid a lot of crapware that usually comes on these things and parts are easy to replace. Dell does something particularly nasty by changing power supply connections so their polarities are reversed, effectively locking you into buying their stuff to replace broken parts. Of course, I say all this as someone who has built his last couple desktops from parts. Nota s hard as it sounds, apart from hooking up the front panel LED’s and switches. Failing the finding of a local computer store run by Indians or Chinese guys, look for the Systemax brand sold by Tigerdirect.com, next best thing IMO. Of course, this all assumes you’re married to getting a PC. Otherwise, and really, get an iMac.
As to Holmes universes, I haven’t got around to Elementary myself, though I love the original Holmes canon. The radio adaptations and additions by the Imagination Theater people are decent for being a half hour, and the complete dramatizations that the Beeb did about 20 couple years ago are fantastic. Someone told me that Watson’s a woman on Elementary, and, while I like women as much as anyone (umm, well. … anyway) I dunno, that just doesn’t seem right. However, people tell me it’s good and I should give it a go. Which I probably should. After all, I thought that Sherlock, you know, from the Beeb, with Holmes transplanted into modern times, I didn’t think I’d like, but it’s really excellent. But then, I’m really a Stephen Moffat fan anyway, he’s done interesting things with Doctor Who, even if I’m more a fan of the original series, wobbly sets and all.
8:57 pm on September 18th, 2013
Buddy!…How do you “read” the blog?…snort!…And how do you post on the blog?…sniff!
8:57 pm on September 18th, 2013
O’Howlers: Your Trail Ride sounds wonderful on this beautiful moonlit night. Now it is Time for us to say Goodnight also – Bear
9:00 pm on September 18th, 2013
Rio – if the Storyteller gets younger with each lobster he eats, he is now ready to go into the 5th grade
And yes, Howlers – he can, he did, and what’s more, he will be ready to do it again tomorrow.
9:23 pm on September 18th, 2013
Buddy thanks for the info. We don’t even know what an imac is, so we will pass on that one.
Never knew anyone who could eat 8 lobsters. That is amazing.
He does look happy and healthy.
Night all.
9:28 pm on September 18th, 2013
Barb!…I could eat 8 of anything if given the chance…heh!burp!
9:31 pm on September 18th, 2013
Barb, we have all gone into the Apple iMac world and love it. Molly’s Mom too. She spent 40 years in software (starting with punch cards) and she’s now in the Mac platform. Who’d a thunk it.
9:35 pm on September 18th, 2013
WOW!…I just caught up on last night’s blog….WOW!WOW!WOW!…snort!….A new light weight sled especially built for our Giant!…wheeze!…This is going to make such a HUGE difference to his race, you guys just wait and see….Wow!…It is going to be amazing!

10:41 pm on September 18th, 2013
I just finished a long work day and I am back at the airport waiting to board my flight home. Because I will get back late, I will stay at a hotel in town tonight, but I don’t have to travel for the rest of the week! Snort and howl!
I am very glad the Wose and Gwizz had a good time on their trip north to Alaska. I was worrit that they weren’t having fun because they were cold and then there was the truck problems. They were troopers through it all. We are so very grateful for the finish sled that words don’t come close.
Rio: The sled is light weight compared to other sleds. If you think it looks big in the picture, I should take a photo of it next to my little sprint sled.
10:47 pm on September 18th, 2013
Rebecca!…I do not think it a thing that is big in physical size, but I do think it is a thing that is HUGE in the future of Snowhook. It is a Cornerstone….chuffle!
10:50 pm on September 18th, 2013
Penquins!…The Kat who was raised by good hearted Penguins almost makes me laugh out loud every time I see it….heh!
10:50 pm on September 18th, 2013
Lobster? I don’t know that I could eat eight of ’em. I’m sure Leno could. He’s a lab. Labs are walking stomachs. I ead a news story once about a lab who ate a complete Christmas dinner for 12.
How do I read the blog and respond on the blog? I use a computer, of course. Actually, I use several of them at different times, though my favorite for non-work-related things is a Macbook Pro. It has built-in software that reads the screen, called “Voiceover”. Mac people, if you want to try it, press cmd+F5, and then CMD+Option+CTRL+F8 will give you a tutorial on how to use it. It’s on the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad, too, under Settings / General / Accessibility. For Windows, I use one of a couple of screen readers, one of which is made by the company I work for. Serotek does a few things, including lots of podcasts. Do a search on the app store for “iBlink Radio”. Anyway, so this software reads the screen, in any detail I like. Google even has stuff to make Chrome talk, which I have to use on this site, since for some reason the page navigation for comments doesn’t work with anything besides Chrome. I can’t select page numbers in any other browser and screen reader combination, and I’ve tried several. As for posting, I learned to type ages ago, now type around 70 WPM. (You really shouldn’t be looking at the keys anyways, any good typist will tell you the same.)I have a thing that makes braille, a line at a time, by pushing little pins up and down, but it’s making me a little angry at the moment, it’s been in the shop twice this summer and still ain’t quite right. While it’s true that some of this technology stuff is necessary for the Internet, Ebooks, and sure makes life a lot easier, and all of it really is a godsend, I’m kind of a geek. Heck, I’ve been a ham radio operator for 25 years, since I was a teenager, so, yeah, I likes the toys, too.
Now I’ll go back to being jealous of yous on the beach eatinglobster.
10:51 pm on September 18th, 2013
Rio: I agree and I like the way you think. As usual, you are the smartest pug in the room. AJ has started fall training with the dogs. The dogs are doing well including Junior.
10:53 pm on September 18th, 2013
Rio: that’s saying something. Word on the beat it you never laugh.
10:57 pm on September 18th, 2013
Laugh!…No, not out loud! No, not me…heh!heh!
Training!…This means we all need to be thinking about the Holiday Auction and/or Boutique…sniff!…Not sure if we will have one or both!…heh!heh!….Both would be GREAT! But that is up to all of youse guys! And all your friends if you can wrangle them into donating things for an Auction or a Boutique…snuffle!
10:59 pm on September 18th, 2013
Tupper and Gilly, you must be pulling my tail. I just looked at the moon and there is no ocean beneath it, just trees!
10:59 pm on September 18th, 2013
No fair, no fair, no fair. We’ve been duped! When mom thought she couldn’t bring us, she hired the sitters. So what did mom do? She sent stand-ins to see OFA!
11:01 pm on September 18th, 2013
Sleep!…Someone here says she needs more sleep, can’t get enough of it…sniff!…Seems all those guys were sleep deprived on the Iowa Trip for some reason….heh!…Pepper and I got a lot of sleep, let me tell youse. That is all we did some days – it was great!…snort!
11:02 pm on September 18th, 2013
Rio: I know you don’t laugh, at least not out loud, but where do you stand on a good cackle in an evil sort of a way?

Rio: what is this sleep of which you speak? I think I’ve heard of it, but I can’t remember what it is.

Oops. I must hae either talked too much or else, something, because my comment is awaiting approval. Oops. Feel free to strip objectionable links to screen reader companies and manufacturers, they really were for informational as opposed to promotional purposes. But they’re not very important. Oops. Again.

Yay Sharon HoH. Nice prize. You must have been able to remember things nicely.
I am going to get ready for bed now. Dad is still up in his recliner. sniff. He likes to be up late.
Nighty noodle.

HOORAY for HOH’s Mom! She won a stress ball!
But what’s this about stand-ins?
Rio, We are so glad you watched Burn Notice. We don’t want to say much because we don’t know if others watch it and are caught up. But the ending was sad, and happy, and exciting…just wonderful. The best part? They left it wide-open for a comeback. Crossing our paws for that. Pop is trying to find us a show to replace it, but we don’t think there is another show that good. It’s like when Northern Exposure ended. Sniff

Whoooohooo for HOH’s mom. Nice pctures, signed books, and passports, and the thing I covet most…a stress ball!
And your mom is a tiny thing too!

HOH – hooray and wahoo for your Mom. Meeting OFA AND winning a stress ball. Hot dam.
Buddy – we have a rather baffling moderator on this here blog. He doesn’t like the word for the things you put on your feet. And he doesn’t like words having to do with where you go and what you do in the famous buildings of Vegas. He also doesn’t like more than one link in a post.
As for the blog itself, we don’t talk religion or politics. And while the Kats and Dogs sometimes spar a little, (like our Kats, Basil and Sage vs the Royal Corgis, Tupper and Gilly) all the people here get along just fine. It’s a great place to hang out.
