Pop Quiz Dessert
Here’s an entry that came too late (from Kathy Sanders), but Admin and Spence liked it.
1. Who was Bernie’s favorite boxer? Sugar Ray Robinson
Bonus: Argue the case for someone else. I would if I could, but considering he had no loses as an amateur and after he went pro, he won the welterweight and middleweight world champions, don’t see how this can be argued! (Even though I live in Louisville, KY the home of Muhammad Ali… who is often call one of the greatest boxer who ever lived.)
2. Who is the Pepsi guy in Coke country? Disco
Bonus: What is Canada’s Pepsi province? Quebec is called this because it is one of the few places in the world, where, Pepsi out sells Coca-Cola.
3. What hides the safe in Bernie’s office? A picture of Niagara Falls
Bonus: What is its symbolic significance? Bernie is always upset about the aquifer and the number of people that rely on it for their only source of water in the area, so Niagara Falls would symbolize an abundance of water.
4. According to Bernie, how many galaxies are in the universe? At least a hundred billion!
5. Who sang the original version of the song Crash and Disco like? Iron Butterfly!
6. Write a sentence or two (penalty for more) on the difference between Princess and Babycakes.
Although Babycakes has won more competitions, she is a cheater, while Princess is too proud to cheat, she is fierce, and one of the greatest competitors, according to Aldo. And we can’t forget, that according to Chet, Princess smell is much more peppery, and it is a pepperiness that Chet likes.
Thanks for Bernie and Chet! I love them!
Also, Admin thanks B. Stover for her wonderful comment yesterday: “One just plunders on.” This is now our motto, he says, whatever that means.
Hope all the glitches are fixed. If not, don’t be shy (Rio) about letting us know – Admin.

May you all enjoy the 4th of July weekend, and let's not forget it's true meaning, and all the men and women who continue to fight for our freedom.
4:48 am on July 2nd, 2010
Rose!… I thought the 4th of July was just an excuse for picnics, parades and parties!…snort!… OH and those horrible firecrackers that terrify my friend…sniff!…I have to stay in the basement with her because she is so afraid of them… sigh….What else does the 4th of July stand for?? …Anybody? (oh no! not another quiz!)…grunt!
5:14 am on July 2nd, 2010
July 4 always meant fireworks, carnivals, candied apples and, my favorite, cotton candy! And, of course, the Star Spangled Banner which wasn't actually written until September 14, 1814.
"One just plunders on" is a wonderful motto! (We take all that technology can give us. And the noun form, in German, means junk or rubbish which is what I consider technology when it doesn't work.)
And Rio shy…?
5:29 am on July 2nd, 2010
Heh heh heh, Riö!
I got out last night and spent the night in the garden. I know enough to jump over the electric fence. But when staff came out on the back porch this morning I was very ready to come in.
I am tired out now and will need to stretch out somewhere and nap.
:0 🙂 :0

So HELLO T! Glad you are no longer lurking!
Hello Rose!

Welcome Kirby T. Pentworthy. Your info about "pepsi" now being a derogatory term for French Canadians is interesting.
6:23 am on July 2nd, 2010
So having the Chinese curse of "May you live in interesting times," week.
The pups are fine and growing like wild flowers! They are awesome. Grace is fine, even though the pills that she NEEDS that were next day deliver have gone from Windsor Locks, CT to Newark, NJ to Latham, NY and are now 20 miles away on some truck . .
The vet is only 90 minutes away . . . Jeez.
So she should be getting back on to her meds today.
The Subaru's hood flew open smashing the windshield (twice) and is sitting in the driveway. The claims person came out and said yes the estimate would be in yesterday by email. It wasn't. The hood did it's thing just after we'd gotten bad news about Dan. His heart is not doing well. They were on their way back from the doc's when it happened. He has to go to Brigham and Women's (Boston) for a special test, today, except yesterday he had all the symptoms of a heart attack and ended up at our local hospital, that can't do anything for him.
SOOOOO,,,, We are on the phone today trying to set up a hospital to hospital transfer and trying to get doctors to TALK to each other.
Upside? We went to pick up the compact car we're renting and they didn't have any more so we ended up with a four door, air conditioned, DVD, 2 or 4 wheel drive, extended cab pick up truck, painted sky blue!
Lil' o' Lexi?? Need some Bobs our way!
6:25 am on July 2nd, 2010
Gasp! Alice! Don't drat my Bobs! I'll drat your face! 😉
Oh, boy am I tired. And now I don't even make the Pop Quiz Dessert! And I'm the damn Princess of the Blog!!! Grr! 😛
I have to go to sleep at 8 today, later on, and then wake up somewhere around 5! And ai JUST woke up! This is going to be a looong day…
*sigh*
Tailwags and licks. Lexi-a tired pup.
PS anyone bagging on Bobs will face my wrath!!! Even you, Wookie, with your size! Haha!
6:33 am on July 2nd, 2010
Melanie: Not that it is of practical use, but I'm thinking of you and Zoe and Dan and all the Newfs.
6:45 am on July 2nd, 2010
~Melanie,
I am sending good wishes your (and Dan's)(and Grace's) way. Alice Johnson is too. Take care babe.
I have had more problems with next day delivery! I think they should name it next day lost. hehe

Lil'ol'Lexi,
I only dratted the bobs that didn't work. And they are staying dratted, drat it all. ;(

Doggie thoughts and prayers all around for Dan, Melanie and Zoe and the Newf pack from everyone here in Chevy Chase. Wookie and family
8:44 am on July 2nd, 2010
Speaking of 4th of July, how does Chet feel about fireworks? Al the banging and popping must seem like a gun fight. My two hate them and as we live in the arctic, people can buy and set them off anytime usually starting late on July 3rd. So there is a lot of dog huddling and shivering on the bed to look forward to. {{{sigh}}}} A lot of people keep a stash and set them off at New Year's when they can be seen. It makes since as it is still daylight over 22 hours a day right now. Of course at New Year's there is always a problem of it being -30 and -50.
8:44 am on July 2nd, 2010
Hi Kathy Sanders….dessert! Happy 4th to you as well.
Alice: Try a colon rather than a semicolon.
8:46 am on July 2nd, 2010
Hi C. Harris. Good to hear from you.
8:48 am on July 2nd, 2010
Thanks all (and it does help B. Stover) Dan's docs talked to each other (could it have been the 1 million phone calls we were placing?) and now is spending the weekend in the hospital here in the Cardio unit. They are not letting him do anything!!!! Thank goodness. Next week, he'll be switched to Boston.
Someone finally listened.
Oh, and Gracie's meds finally arrived!
8:50 am on July 2nd, 2010
Prayers for all. Glad Alice made it back safe inside, love the comma work from Sanders. Thanks for the 'one just plunders on' quote. I need it. Been unemployed for 16 months now, no jobs in sight, unemployment running out, completely stumped about what to do, where to go, how to live. Running thru my mental list of friends wondering who has an extra room that can take me in. Afraid my future lies in a cardboard box. Fear and uncertainty running rampant. Yet…one just plunders on. Regardless of fear, loss, and unknown future, one MUST plunder on. Giving up, rolling over, showing my belly just is NOT part of my character. I don't have any answers, but I WILL just plunder on.

Alone!….Has everyone packed up and gone off to upstate New York!?… sniffle!… I’m all alone talking to myself today… snuff!
10:49 am on July 2nd, 2010
I know things are bad in Michigan with companies closing and for lease and for sale signs up all over where businesses used to be. It's one of the reasons that my neice and nephew moved to Colorado, though my neice has only been able to find a waitressing job so far.
I'm sorry that I don't know of any job openings at this time but I'll certainly post it here for Jasper's friend if I hear of anything.
11:19 am on July 2nd, 2010
Hey! Rio! Not leavin' until tomorrow! We're still here!
Hehe!
I know you want me to go so bad, but, you're gonna have to live with me for the rest of the day! 😉
Gotta go. We're still packing, and Mommy once almost packed ME into one of those suitcases!
Tailwags and licks. Lexi-a pup that is NOT luggage!
PS Rio! When I get back, let's have a mission to go to Wookie's house and steal his To Fetch A Theif copy! Shhh…. 😉
Here are some Bobs from the Queen of Bobs:
😉 😛 🙁 🙂 😀 😐
11:22 am on July 2nd, 2010
C. Harris lives in the Arctic!!! That is beyond cool, more than awesome! Tee hee…everyone on the blog knew that would get a reaction out of me. I am so jealous.
Guess what, C. Harris. They shoot those darn fireworks off anytime they choose in New Mexico. The laws are on the books, strict laws, about when, where, and what kind you can legally shoot them, but THOSE LAWS ARE NOT ENFORCED. It is a fireworks free for all in this state, before, during, and after the fourth.
I don't like them, but I am not as afraid of them as a lot of dogs are. My folks won't go off and leave me in the evenings around the fourth and the whole entire day and night of the fourth.
I am on Rescue Remedy for the duration of the holiday. Is anyone else on Rescue Remedy?
11:26 am on July 2nd, 2010
Melanie, Glad Dan is in a safe place for the weekend. Fingers and paws crossed for all of you.
We are far enough from neighboring towns that the fireworks are not too loud. They sound like thunder, and I always have to hide when we have loud thunder.
B, Mixed review on the grass fed meat. I liked it, and am getting a special marrow bone tonight (Yum), but Barb thought it was a little "chewy". Of course, she doesn't have my excellent teeth. She thought the taste was ok, and not too gamey, but is going to have to do some research on tenderizing marinades. Any ideas?
11:31 am on July 2nd, 2010
Melanie, glad that today's difficulties were solved for you. Actually, you haven't had an easy week…We'll be thinking of you, your family and the Newfs.
11:32 am on July 2nd, 2010
Hello to Kathy Sanders and a Happy Fourth to you!
11:33 am on July 2nd, 2010
SiberH!… What is Rescue Remedy?… snort!
Lil Lexi!… I do not want you to go!… snicker!…Why ever would you think such a thing?… grunt!…So you will not be near a computer for the whole holiday?….hmmm?
11:42 am on July 2nd, 2010
Jasper, hang in there, old buddy. You are in our thoughts and prayers. The economy sucks in NM also, and we know people who are having the same problems.
11:50 am on July 2nd, 2010
B&M: One beef recipe that I have is for flank steak, which I think is not naturally tender. I cross hatch it, put galic salt on it, roll it and put bacon strips around (usually takes five or six strips), put in tooth picks to keep in place, cut it between strips of bacon. Cook in 350 oven for twenty to thirty minutes. Put some large, peeled, mushrooms in pan five to ten minutes before steak is done. It's a bit chewy but very good.
11:52 am on July 2nd, 2010
Rio, Rescue Remedy is a natural stress relief for pets. It is veterinarian recommended…safe and gentle, unlike tranks. My vet reccommends it. It is one those things that can do no harm, and might help. Vets seem to be in agreement that it has no effect on some dogs and does help others.
Just google Rescue Remedy for Pets and their website will come right up. You can buy it in the pet stores and natural health food stores. They also make it for people.
11:59 am on July 2nd, 2010
Thanks to Mike Baker for fixing the technical problems on Chet's blog. It is working better than ever now.
12:03 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Rio, dear friend, it is time to confess that it is not your friend that hates thunder and fireworks. I'm admitting it. I don't like loud thunder or fireworks.
12:04 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Lexi!… Did you see the talking squirrel yesterday?…heh!… We may have help from those guys when we go after Wookies advance reader copy!…snort!
12:08 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Oh No!…. My friend SiberH is a drug addict!…sniff!… He is going to be on drugs all weekend…snort!….Whatever will I do without him hanging around?… grunt! … I should have guessed right away, what with his bad memory and he does live in New Mexico… wheeze!…The signs were all right in front of me… cough!
12:10 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Leave Wookie's advance readers copy alone.
12:11 pm on July 2nd, 2010
B, Barb is not following you. Do you totally cut it through between the bacon strips, so that it loos like little filets or pinwheels?
12:22 pm on July 2nd, 2010
I'll be here, Rio. There is no escaping the fireworks in NM, so home is the place to be. Mom and I will be holed up in the room where the computer is because the bedroom is where I like to be when thunder and fireworks are happening…just like you like to be in the basement.
I don't even drink anymore. That stopped when I started imagining that there was a video of you on the internet. Oh Good Grief!
Rescue Remedy is made from flower essences, and before you say anything, no poppy flowers are involved.
I just may be a little mellow, I hope…mom hopes
12:34 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Barb just googled (Hey B, we used that as a verb) Rescue Remedy and is going to try it out on me. I get a little goofy when there is a storm, and I turn into a 4 legged lunatic when I go to the vet's or if the groomer trys to do my toe nails. Is it strong enough for those activities?
12:57 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Maggie, you won't know how well it will work for you until you try it. It may not work that well for a storm because you need to start it ahead of time. They don't tell you that on their website, but all the vets tell you to start it ahead of time. The fourth is so serious that mom started me on it two days ago.
For a trip to the vet or groomer, mom says to start it three or even four days ahead of the appointment. The four drops one time the first day, two times the second day, three times the third day ..several times the day of the appointment. You cannot overdose on it. Mom will probably give me those 4 drops about every two hours on the fourth. Yummy, I get my drops on a piece of cheese.
It is worth a try. Mom says to let us know if it helps. We hope it will.
1:02 pm on July 2nd, 2010
B&M: Yes, they look like pinwheels. You have six to eight of them depending on the size of the flank steak.
1:05 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Thanks Siber H. We will get some. The health food store sells it for 12.99, but we can order on line for less. Our vet doesn't carry it at all.
1:05 pm on July 2nd, 2010
And googled as a verb does not bother me at all.
1:27 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Maggie, my vet doesn't carry it either. She sends us 3 blocks down the street to a herb store. It was 14.99, yikes Next year we will order it online.
1:33 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Melanie, Zoe, Dan, et al. You're on my mind. No fireworks for Dan this weekend.
Yikes! Alice J. Roughing it in the country overnight.
Jasper: My surveyor son has been out of work other than a day here and there and a little work for a bee keeper for about 14 months now. I worry that lots of people are in this same leaky boat and what is going to happen when the unemployment does run out and there are still no jobs. Will Wall Street bail YOU out?
Lil 'ol Lexi: Do not fall asleep in anything that looks like a box or you may get packed. We will miss you when you're gone.
C. Harris: Funny to light fireworks off in the daylight. I
remember you from a year or so ago. I'm in the North but you are in the Far North. Does the darkness in the winter get to you?
One just plunders on.
1:38 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Gee Lil "ol Lexi: That didn't come out right. I didn't mean that we would miss you once you got packed in a box and were gone. I meant if you ever do leave we will miss you. And don't let yourself get packed in a box. Here's a big bob. BOB from your technologically challenged friend.
2:00 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Hey All, Dan looks good. Went down the Hills to see him and since they won't let him DO anything or get up, he looks great. They did try it and his heart said "OH, NO YOU DON"T EITHER" (from Bill Cosby's karate rip) they are willing to BELIEVE that we are telling the truth! Procedure of weird x-ray on Tuesday and we will then figure out the next step.
Jasper, Bummer on your friend not having a job. That is the pits. I really dislike it when some talking head says, "There are jobs out there, people are just lazy." Okay, so the next talking head that says that switches places with Jasper's friend. Let's see how they like it.
I hope Chet and Bernie are doing okay financially. I don't think trying to do one's own detective work would turn out too well. Sort of like these people who are trying to fix their own plumbing or cars and end up really in a fix.
Dawson! Some one further North than you are. Cool! In a matter of speaking . . .
Just how far up are you C. Harris? Seeing the Northern Lights are on my Bucket list! That and seeing Polar Bears from a safe distance.
We had Rescue Remedy in the house and used it. One of the dogs got the bottle and emptied it. Need to pick more up. I don't think we've ever thought to use it for the fireworks.
Whew, sorry this is long. But I just had to catch up.
2:01 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Dawson? Does the darkness in the winter get to you? It wouldn't bother me, but mom thinks it would her. She refers to winter here as, "the long dark." However, she thinks if she could be up north and have about 6 Siberians for recreational mushing, she could survive "the long dark"
2:06 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Melanie, oh, Melanie? Do you think Rescue Remedy helps? We need your opinion.
I'm glad Dan is resting and looks good.
2:14 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Hey!… My friend has 5 days in a row off from that busy season place! …snort!snort!…But what’s this? She brought her computer from work home with her…hmmmm?…. I thought this time off was going to be all about me me me!… grunt!…Not that busy season place….dammit!…. In a while we are going over to her mom’s house and take her out to dinner…yum!… Maybe I will get to go to – or maybe I will be stuck at her mom’s house with no computer…grump!
Jasper!… I told her all about Jasper’s friend and she wishes she could help them, but you live so far away…drat! …Jasper, is there anything we can do for you?….sniff!…We do not want you to live in a box out on the street….sob!…That would be horrible. Just horrible…sniff!
2:25 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Winter: Yes the darkness gets to me. I have special full-spectrum lights that help quite a bit and I try to go south in November or December. And I sleep a lot.
2:27 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Gosh guys! 🙂 I GARUNTEE that I will NOT get stuffed in a suitcase thingy. But, I WILL get stuffed into a stuffy car filled with Daddy, Billy, Mommy, and Megan and I, and all of the suitcases and crap. MAN is this going to be a LOOONG trip!!!
Ow, my head still hurts. I'm napping underneath the Pissed-Off-Megan's bed right now. Well, I WILL be napping right after this post.
Rio! I did NOT see the talking squirrel yesterday, whoever that is. All I know about these squirrels is that MollyPop hates them, they can climb trees, and barking up a tree after them and trying to climb the tree to go after them does NOT work. 😐
Well, I'm REALLY tired right now, although I can't even fall asleep, for some weird reason. This is annoying.
Tailwags and licks. Lexi-a tired but cannot fall asleep pup.
PS YES, we are STILL going to steal Wookie's Advanced Readers Copy when I get back! Ssshhh! Sleep with one eye open, Wookie!!
Grr!!
2:28 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Oh! I forgot the Bobs! Here we go:
😉 😛 😀 🙁 🙂 😐
3:18 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Siber-H, yes Rescue Remedy helps. First got it when YSAS was little and needed it.
Worked for him. So when we got the dogs, we tried it on them and ta da! it worked for them.
We just don't have any right now, we usually have it in the house.
3:38 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Mom got home from the library, so now the computer is on and I'm catching up. I hope Dan and Grace and everyone else will feel better soon, because the Fourth of July is such a bad time to be sick.
Mom and Dad used to go to a minor league baseball game every Fourth of July and watch the fireworks afterwards, but then the team moved so they don't do that anymore. The team had a three-legged one of our guys who was like a mascot. After the game they would let him trot around the field because the fireworks didn't bother him. One year there was a fireworks display on the outfield fence, and the bright background silouetted him making a mess on the field — if you catch my drift. Everybody laughed, but I bet the groundskeeper wasn't too happy!
3:47 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Hi "T": Just read an article in the Huffington Post about a town that tried to save money by getting rid of the library. It didn't go over too well with the citizens.
I didn't know libraries got advance copies of some books. I wonder how many of those advance copies of Chet's book are out there.
3:59 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Wow, another new poster. C. Harris. Hello C. Harris!
We are having a lot of posters decloaking today. Very interesting. ~Jasper, very sorry to hear of your job problems. We will send out some 'hope it gets better' to you. Good luck. You are a cute little black poodle if I remember correctly.
I am listening to the Twins. Tampa Bay 1-0 over the Twins. But it is early yet….
clap clap clap.
>^..^<
4:03 pm on July 2nd, 2010
That's a good baseball story, Kirby T.Penworthy. And now the baseball games have begun and the Detroit Tigers are winning, Colorado Rockies are tied and Minnesota Twins are losing. Life is good.
Chet: Back to the story tomorrow, I hope.
4:11 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Mom's real lucky, because the county she works for is real gung-ho for the library. Every year when the council has budget hearings, lots of people show up to speak for the library. One of the council members always asks everyone with a library card to stand up, and just about the whole room does. Mom says the budget is getting tight — the county just approved a 1.5 percent increase, which doesn't cover the rising cost of everything — but at least it's not getting cut like lots of other places.
I guess publishers realize how much "handselling" library people do, so they send ARCs to get everyone excited about an upcoming book. When librarians talk about a book, people want to read it, so the library might buy more copies. Mom has read some interesting books in ARC form, but unfortunatly none of Chet's have turned up at her branch. Mom first read about Chet in Publisher's Weekly and thought Dog On It sounded like a good book, so she reserved a copy before the library even got it. When the first copy came in she got to read it right away. Working at a library may not pay a lot, but Mom says there are definitely perks!

Hi Kirby T. Penworthy,
Interesting name!
Lots of de-lurking today, what fun!
There's a Rose up there too!
Penworthy. This must be that your friends thought more highly of you than just penciling you in!
Hmmm, after that comment, I think I better get some sleep. . .
Many snoring Newfs . . .
Maybe Harvard should of snored at the pups.
4:24 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Oh Lord! I can't believe I said "should of." B. Stover, forgive me.
It's obviously . . "shoulda"
snicker
4:30 pm on July 2nd, 2010
I'm a pretty big fan of herbals in general, although I don't know if I have ever had Rescue Remedy or not. My acupuncturist gave me some herbal pills recently to help me deal with heat and they have seemed to work pretty well.He also gave me some last summer for another problem (unmentionable, unmentionable) that really did the trick too.
While I don't adore fireworks, I can kind of handle them but thunder is a big problem. I now hide under my mom's quilting table, oreferably with my dad there too, if he is home. And I doubt if there is enough Rescue Remedy in the world to get me to a groomer. I was banished by the last groomer about four years ago, so now I get bathed (yuck) and groomed at home by mom. Fortunately we are on water restrictions now in Chevy Chase because of a possiblw water main break in the county, so no baths in the forseeable future. Wookie
4:34 pm on July 2nd, 2010
I wonder if Rescue remedy would work for humans? Mom is just wondering……
I had to go the vet today and get poked and prodded and some vaccinations. Yucko pooey!
Melanie – I hope that Dan fares well. What kind of medications is Gracie taking?
I don't know what firecrackers are. Loud, scary noises?
We live in the middle of nowhere and we don't have any firecrackers nearby.

Now that Admin is doing some fancy stuff tech wise, mayber we'll get our avatars someday?
Lexi lil – where are you going??? Sounds like a big adventure!!

Melanie: Thanks, I think I am "pen worthy," but I think Dad just liked the sound of the name. To tell you the truth, people around here call me lots of different names. Mostly it's just T, but sometimes it's Kirby T. Mom calls me T Monster a lot — I'm not sure why. And Dad calls me Doodles. Why do they give me a name and not use it? My big brother is named Buford, but they usually call him Booffie or Wuffie. And both of us together are called "The Wups."
Mom has been telling people about your ten Newfs, and now the 12 pups, and everyone agrees that you must be pretty amazing to raise a gang that big — both in numbers and size!

WWWWW: Maybe you could slip a little into your boys food. Just googled it and I think my boss would love it if I would get some.
Calm me down.

Darn, I can't put the computer to sleep since it's catching the external drive up.
Wöökie! Good for you, did you actually break the water main? That would be a great one for 00Wöökie. Also, I'm confused . . . your Dad can fit under the quilting table also? With you? That must be a very large table.
Wölfie!!! Yes, it's actually made for humans. And I have no idea what Gracie is taking. I just know she takes them in ice cream. Zoë showed me what they were, but I remember where the bottle is and what it looks like, but I was wearing the wrong glasses and was unable to read it.
Sorry you had vaccinations. I have to give 10 vaccination shots tomorrow for heart worms . . maybe on Sunday. I will wear my reading glasses.
Man, I'd like to catch up on some sleep. I'm going to try to put this thing asleep even if it is working.

Mr. T… Is an interesting guy. He sure takes up a lot of space out here… hey!…Loved the baseball story by they way….snicker!…Rockies are tied with the Giants… dang!…I want them to be ahead of the Giants at all times.
Lexi!…Are you kidding me? You did not see the talking squirrel?… snort!… It was a “secret” message to Wookie yesterday, but word got out and then it wasn’t so secret… grunt!… There is a link and a secret code you need to see the angry talking squirrel…heh!…We love that squirrel!…wheeze!
4:44 pm on July 2nd, 2010
YIKES! double posting with Riö. I forget, is that good luck or bad luck?
4:48 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Rio: Sorry I'm so long-winded. I guess I lurked so long I've just got a lot of stuff built up!
Oh, and Mom says to tell you she's a big Angels fan! Dad roots for the Orioles, but he says we're not going there!

Kirby T: Your name begs to have a "the 3rd" on the end of it.
4:52 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Dawson: I don't think there could be two more like me!
4:54 pm on July 2nd, 2010
After much decoding and technical stuff, the Pack and I (had to wake them up) saw the message to Agent Wöökie!
Riö that was wonderful, if indeed you did send it and it wasn't a squirrel trying to get Agent Wöökie off balance . . hmm.
Anyhoo, reminds me of a story OTAS wrote in high school about a squirrel hunting trip with a father, son and lots of squirrels. The son didn't want to go, the father made him and the squirrels won. Stephen King's got nothing on OTAS! I think nowadays they would have had him come in for a talk . . .
I wonder if Peter or Spence every had that happen to them in school?
Getting punchy, turning off the damn computer no matter what is twirling around.

Wolfie, Rescue Remedy is suppose to work for humans. I think it was first made for people, and then they got the idea of trying it on pets.
I just had a thought, if my mom had sent me to spend the weekend with Dawson, I would have been a much happier dog. There is no fourth of July in Canada. Dogs in Canada don't have to deal with this nonsense.
You're lucky, Wolfie. In the middle of nowhere in NM, there are still firecrackers.
5:04 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Not to mention, Siber H., that we are in the middle of a cold snap. My mister even turned the heat on yesterday!! Unheard of. We had Canada Day yesterday with a parade. That's why it was cold and rainy. Happens every year. No fireworks now – for some strange reason the time for fireworks here is Halloween. By the way there was an Ice Pilots marathon lasting all night long and I have about 12 hours of the show recorded. You are welcome anytime. Jasper too.
5:09 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Blue Geranium is on Mystery again here now. Just catching the tail end now (no pun intended). Wookie
5:09 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Tigers won! Rockies are ahead. Twins behind 1-0. I'm heading to bed early tonight. Good night to all the wagging tails.
5:09 pm on July 2nd, 2010
It sounds like Paradise, Dawson…Ice Pilots, a cold snap, and no fireworks.
I know, I too, want Jasper to make it through this and be okay.
5:14 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Oh. Before I go…Go Rockies!!
5:17 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Melanie!… I have a feeling that squirrel will be back for more taunting later…heh! … Somehow he has found out what my email address is…hmmm….Wookie be on your guard big guy!
5:38 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Stover!… I hope you read this at some point tomorrow…snort!… I ordered a used book through Amazon (Last of the Dixie Heroes)…grump!…. And they said it would be here by June 30th. …Not!… So what do I do now? Do I contact the guy I ordered it from or do I write to Amazon about it… grumble!…This has never happened to us before because we always use Barnes and Noble….wheeze!…But they do not carry that book any longer in paperback so we had to go through Amazon….crap! …Please advise?
5:39 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Woo Woo Rockies are ahead by 3 runs now! Woo Woo
5:42 pm on July 2nd, 2010
R, I'm not Stover, and we still need her advice, but I think Amazon tells you to contact the guy you ordered it from.

5:58 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Good Night Bobs! The Giants are going to be depressed now and in a funk, and scared about tomorrow's game. I think they have reason to be concerned.
6:14 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Prayer!… I would like to say a prayer for Melanie and Jaspers families. Lord of all creatures great and small we lift up Dan and Jaspers friend to you tonight. You know their circumstances and what they need at this time. Please comfort them and ease their fear and pain. We pray that you will take special care of these families and grant them good health and a much needed job. Lord of all creation please watch-over all of us and our families here at Chet’s blog in these troubling times. Amen.

AbbieTheKat!…Are you still up?… snort!… We can’t sleep tonight. Well, I could but she can’t. I think it has something to do with her dad an all…sniff!…I don’t know what to do but sit by her side and try to let her know that her mom will be okay… grunt!…56 years of marriage is a long time and her mom is all alone in that big house now… snuffle… Soon when all the busy work is done her mom will need something else to do…but what? … sniff! … We wish she were a quilter, but no. Not a baker, not a reader, not a walker, not a biker. She was a caregiver for so long she lost herself we fear …sniffle.

Hi all. I tried to post yesterday, but… I think it is nice that Rio doesn't grunt and wheeze when he prays. Maybe he should just put all his thoughts as prayers! Oh, my sister, who is a chug, thinks you are cute, Rio. However, since she has a bit a a snout, she wonders if you were chasing a car and smashed into it, lol. I however, was a dog of the street, so I know all about you pug types.
8:17 pm on July 2nd, 2010
Ok since yesterday's post didn't make it, I will repeat it. Rio..I have been reading all your posts, and I must say, you do not seem at all evil to me. Maybe a little congested, but not evil. Evil is like the "people" who put me out on the street when I turned up pregnant. Like it was my fault! Do they think I could just show up at the vet's and say "I am the 8:30 appointment for spaying"! Lucky for me Dad showed up at the city shelter and decided I would be just right for Mom. They did not even know that I was "with puppies", but when they found out, they were tickled pink. Mom made me a nice little birthing suite and we were snug as could be. The pups are teenagers now, and the one who lives with us, Annie, keeps trying to eat my head. Kids! Oh, and even Princesses like baseball, but we woof for the Texas Rangers.(who are still playing at 12:17 thanks to a rain delay.

Wow! There were 22 posts this AM when I posted and now it is over 100. Let's see…
Rio: I live near the Arctic Circle and I am a teacher. I actually came up here as a little girl when Alaska became a state (my Dad surveyed the state).
Siberian Husky: thanks for the Rescue Remedy idea; my dogs are shivering at my feet as we speak. It will be that way the next couple of days.
Dawson: yes, the darkness gets to me. I suffer from Seasonal Adjusted Disorder and use medicine, special lights and gym workouts to help (otherwise, I feel like hibernating). But I love the snow, the northern lights and prefer cold weather to hot.

Uh oh!… heh! We have another Princess among us…snort!… Min Pin that was a very amazing life story you just told….grunt!… I’m not sure what you mean by congested and what’s a ‘Chug’? …gurgle!… Is that what you call a chubby pug?…hmmm!.. No one here better call me THAT!…grrr!…Ever! I’m on this damn diet and that’s all I am saying about that!…grump! …Texas Rangers – what the hell?… Min Tin or Rin Tin Tin… now I am finally sleepy….nice to meet and greet ya but I’m off to my nice soft bed filled with baseball toys and a rotting old steak bone that I love…heh! (I can’t get all the meat off yet cuz my teeth don’t come together right!)…sniff….Goodnight all!

Wow (I woke up early)
Another new poster…
Macy the min-pin princess. hmmmm what I wonder is a min-pin?
Well I am not counting (because that would be work) but I think we have a record of new posters today. Something about the quiz brought them out of lurkdom and into the 'real' world. We seem to have added a librarian and another teacher to the fold. WE now have a second person near the pole for Siber-H to visit. The rest are still mysteries but we like mysteries so that is good.
Welcome everyone. Hope you have a good time here.
See you all later today

Hi Macy. You're on yesterday's post. Go to today's post: "Zooming" so everyone can read your comments.
