Politics (1)
“Today,” says Spence, “we do what we never do here at the blog, namely dip into politics. What’s your take on Putin?”
“Rhymes with lootin’, shootin’, highfalutin, convolutin’,” says Admin.
“Convolutin’?”
“And our policy should be constructed with that in mind.”
Welcome Snoopy (first Snoopy in the gallery, we think). Snoopy? Take a bow!

Good morning, everyone! Welcome Snoopy and your blankie of many colors. We hee at the herd say pooh to politics. We like llivin’ in the moment as Chet says. It is Friday and Siber is heading off for the wilds of vacation, we’ll miss you but might blur over for a quick visit.
Have a ______________ (fill in the blank) Friday. (Hey, it worked for Monday 🙂 )
8:21 am on April 25th, 2014
Good morning, HOH and Spence and Admin and Everybody!
We hate politics. Mom used to spend OUR quality time on politics. We had to put our paw down.
Snoopy is a cutie. Up next: Charlie Brown?
Freaky Friday?
8:33 am on April 25th, 2014
OH, love your sleeping arrangements. What is life if not being flexible. Pookey is poopy about that, she demands to sleep on the double recliner.
8:58 am on April 25th, 2014
O’Howlers: Freaky came to mind here too but it
sounds…well…freaky. Too much can happen with that moniker. Frisky Friday?
Hounds: Youse Know we can’t make Decisions so early in the morning. Gah.
Siber-H: Is off into the Wilds. Have a Great Time! (some of us may be blurring in from time to time.
We say Pooey on Putin too. That guy is taking the World Back in Time.

Forgot to say…Snoopy is really cute…and what a Great Blanket!
9:41 am on April 25th, 2014
Good morning all. How about a Fortitudinous Friday?
Off to see the world – which translates to doing errands etc.
9:44 am on April 25th, 2014
Good morning all.
Putin is egotistical and suffers from megalomania. That makes him really scary.
10:08 am on April 25th, 2014
Karl Marx made the mistake of believing that human beings are altruistic. (“From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs”). Marxism in practice became Communism and thus we have Putin. I agree with Admin.
Snoopy is a cutie.
Good morning all.
10:29 am on April 25th, 2014
Wolfie, I think Chet knows you are back. We have seen your foto 2 times this a.m. in Chet’s Friends 🙂
Some discussion this a.m. Marx, by association Lenin comes to mind and then patooey-Putin!
10:37 am on April 25th, 2014
Scary comes to mind when i think putin. Scary comes to mind when we hear of humans who don’t pay attention to whats going on. When humans go extintinct, us dogs’ll prolly go too.
10:41 am on April 25th, 2014
Putin!…Ex-KGB spy, mur-der-er and other unnamable things come to my flat head…grump!

I’m for bootin’ Putin.
Snoopy is way more cute and

Oh, yes! Welcome OpalK9. What kind of a doggie are you?
12:43 pm on April 25th, 2014
We are breaking the no politics rule to voice our political views: We vote pug. For everything.
1:45 pm on April 25th, 2014
Not politics, history…since the break-up of the Soviet Union, we have stopped thinking of the “Red threat” There are various names but the game is the same…Lenin, Stalin, Malenkov (?), Kruschev, Brezhnev, Kosygin. Andropov, Gorbachov. Why do Putin’s actions surprise us?
1:51 pm on April 25th, 2014
Opalk9 is an Aussie, which is very close to my kind. Welcome!
1:52 pm on April 25th, 2014
Wose, We only know that cuz we clicked on the name and it took us to a blog site. We were thinking Opalk might be and English Shepherd.
1:56 pm on April 25th, 2014
(Pookie here) Opalk9 looks a lot like my dear ol’ mum 🙂
1:58 pm on April 25th, 2014
B&M, Thanks for the info on Opalk9. She looks like a beauty.
Hello to all the Snowhook dogs! Especially to my VBFF, Belle Starr.
How are the Detectives and the Plunderfest doggies?
Would love to see pictures. I wonder if Rose is as lovely as Amalia?

HOH, et al. Wait a dog-darn cotton-pickin’ minute…youse guys are picking on us poor Russian/Siberians. Not all Russian spies are evil. Take our very own Natasha. (please?) And when you get to saying Gorbachev in the same breath as Stalin, Kruschev, etc. … well, let’s just say our very own Moonman (“Mikhail’s Revenge”) would be offended. We here are fans of Gorby. And we especially loved Madame Gorbachev’s beautiful hat. 🙂

2:43 pm on April 25th, 2014
O’Howlers: We quite agree. Gorby doesn’t belong on that List of Russkie Evil types.
Welcome OpalK9!!!
Don’t miss the Very Cool Chet Story over there on the right.
2:43 pm on April 25th, 2014
Point taken OH.
2:56 pm on April 25th, 2014
BSD, That is a great story, just not sure why they say he is from Rhode Island. He lives in Ohio. We saw the story on the Today show this morning, and it brought several tears to Barb’s eyes. If you read down thru the whole story they say he lives in Ohio, not R.I. He has traveled 2 million miles I believe to deliver dogs from kill shelters to happy forever homes. We are thinking about making a small donation, as he does this on his own, with very little financial help. What a great man.
2:58 pm on April 25th, 2014
Yup, Zanesville, Ohio.
4:51 pm on April 25th, 2014
Gorbachev!…He was not an evil man in my opinion…sniff!…At least not in the ranks of those who came before him and after him…wheeze!
4:58 pm on April 25th, 2014
Camping!…I sure wish I was off-road camping with my pal SiberH…snuffle!…Wonder if SiberH will be the one driving…heh!heh!
5:05 pm on April 25th, 2014
Or at least riding shotgun!
5:07 pm on April 25th, 2014
Yep, Shotgun. That’s the Way to Go.
5:34 pm on April 25th, 2014
Welcome OpalK9 – hope you hang out with us.
Putin lost ANY chance for likability or respect when the dogs of the Olympics were given a death sentence. Poo on Putin.
On our way back to see Gramp. Fridays are Bring Your Pet days at rehab. But today is the one day Callie can’t go. Poor puppy.
5:48 pm on April 25th, 2014
Why can’t Callie go today? We are crying foul.
All the stuff going on in Russia/Ukrane has the ‘rents mighty worried. We have no idea why. We don’t even know where the Ukrane is, and our family left Siberia eons ago.

Good news from here in Buffalo. Six people have been arrested for dogfighting and 20 dogs have been rescued. Hooray!
6:28 pm on April 25th, 2014
I liked Kruschchev. He knew how to pound a shoe to get attention.
Gramps will miss Callie. The rehab staff will have to wait a whole week to meet Callie, that is, if Gramps hasn’t broke out by then.
6:35 pm on April 25th, 2014
Breakout? We are ready Gramp!
6:41 pm on April 25th, 2014
Mollypop’s Mom: I’m glad those dog abusing perps have been grabbed by the pantleg.
O’Howler’s: Dang! That’s some good singing. I wonder if Willow would give the HerbKats some lessons?

I took my friend Connie for a burger at Braums today, so rest assured that I have eaten.
Later, taters

Macy’s Mom: Soooo good to hear from you at a real hour. Hope things are calming down. If you need someone to take out for burgers, we hounds volunteer.

Staff: I just noticed that the Museum of Fine Arts is Boston is having a quilt exhibition. Maybe Abbie and Alice should test them out.

Howlers – Callie couldn’t go today cuz Mama was out doing lots of errands and grocery shopping and stuff like that, with a stop to see Gramp in the middle of the run. But fear not – Callie can go any day, any time, and she will be going tomorrow.
She was a major hit around the rehab the other day. A sweet story for you – Gramp wanted to walk Callie down to the therapy gym to meet one of the dog loving therapists. When they got there, one therapist was trying to work with an older man who had had a stroke. He was in a wheelchair between some parallel bars, and the therapist was trying to get him to hold the bars and try standing. The man was ignoring her – didn’t respond at all. But the therapist asked if he could pet Callie – Callie was brought over to the bars, and the man suddenly came to life, reached out his hand and scritched Callie’s ears just right. The therapist again asked the man to try standing, and he did it, keeping one hand on Callie’s head the whole time.
And Callie was a perfect angel. She stayed right there, still as stone, and when the man sat back down, Callie put her head in his lap. The therapist said it was the first time he had smiled since coming to the rehab.
Gramp was so proud of his puppy.

Callie!…You are the Best Giant Guy I have ever met except for the Giant at Snowook…heh!heh!…You saved a life today. Yes you did…snorkel!
9:20 pm on April 25th, 2014
Late!…I am very late getting to the Pooter tonight…sniff!…It is not my fault but the one who turns it on…grunt!…She is totally exhausted tonight. Too much work on my house and too much worry over the next thing a’coming…grunt!…This is really interfering with my social network life…grumble!
9:26 pm on April 25th, 2014
Royals: Someone Here is sniffling after reading that story.
Callie is a Hero Dog!
9:31 pm on April 25th, 2014
Riö: I feel bad for your friend. Here is some news that might cheer her (and you) up. If you thought our beloved Justified was over…it’s not. That last show was only the Season Finale, not the end of the series.
9:34 pm on April 25th, 2014
Maskers!…We here are confused….sniff!…We are still waiting to watch the last episode. Maybe she forgot to check for it this week, but that doesn’t seem right…wheeze!…Let me ask youse, did the last episode end with the Boyd’s fiancée turning on him?…yeeeep!
9:35 pm on April 25th, 2014
Rio – sounds like there is a lot of work to do on your other house. Would you want to go back and live there, surrounded by the sick-o-more trees? Or is your friend just keeping up with the demands of a house?
ML – Glad you went to lunch with a friend today. That’s what friends are for – to be with you and support you when you need a little extra boost. Keep holding on, girlfriend.
9:48 pm on April 25th, 2014
Sick-A-Mores!…My friend curses those trees every time we are over there. She says they robbed her from enjoying her life investment…grunt!…And life is definitely not fair, that’s for sure…grumble!
9:50 pm on April 25th, 2014
Russians!…Speaking of Russian Spies, we are watching “The Americans”…sniff!…It is such a well written show that one finds oneself on the side of the spies, but tonight I am NOT on their side and I will never be again, no matter what…heh!heh!
10:10 pm on April 25th, 2014
Riö: Yes, that is how it ended. Someone here had to watch that last episode again to confirm we got the storyline straight.
Sadly we will not be able to see The Americans until it is available at no cost. When the series first premiered we did not have cable so were unable to watch it On Demand. Now that we do it is into the second season.
10:12 pm on April 25th, 2014
Golly!…The baseball game does not start till 10:10pm blog time…sniff!…No one will be up with me, even I won’t be up with me to watch it till the end…grump!…I hate West Coast Games…sneeze!
10:14 pm on April 25th, 2014
Maskers!…The first season is phenomenal!…snort!…In my opionion…snort!….The lengths those Russians go to …gurgle!….But so do the Americans. It is a No-Win Cold War…grump!
10:19 pm on April 25th, 2014
Tupper&Gilly: I am very proud of Callie, the rehab therapist, for making that man smile. I was reading every other word so I thought that Callie could only visit on Fridays. I’m glad that is wrong and she can visit whenever she wants.
10:23 pm on April 25th, 2014
Callie, You should become a professional therapy dog! Gramps must be so proud.
We will be back tomorrow morning. Nighty noodles.
10:34 pm on April 25th, 2014
Professional!…Unlike Callie, I do not have the ability to act professionally in any given situation…snuff!…I do not bite, but I am not a social butterfly. Everyone has to earn my trust…grunt!…Beau, he has turned into the meet N’ greet guy….(((sigh)))…Whether they want to be yeeeped at and jumped upon or not. He is right there doing just that – yeeeping and greeting!…grumble!…Embarrassing! But as my friend says, it is better than nipping and biting everyone which he used to do…guffle!burp!…The little guy has come a long way on a dusty road…heh!cough!
11:02 pm on April 25th, 2014
Rio: Beau has come a long way and for you to say that about him…you have come a long way too. All those long brutal walks have had benefits far beyond just getting in shape.
11:12 pm on April 25th, 2014
Hi there Ms. Dawson. I spoke your praises to Connie for your thoughtfulness. So many good people in the world, and I am lucky to have met the ones here. Love you guys.
11:37 pm on April 25th, 2014
Dawson!…One neighbor far down on our neighborhood walk burst out of his front door tonight just to say “HI” to me and Beau. Meanwhile his Callie-Type guy had his front paws up on this neighbor’s front door yelping big-time with jealousy while he was out there petting me and Beau…heh!heh!…We ate it up big time by golly!…snorkel!
11:42 pm on April 25th, 2014
Dodgers! …Game is tied 2 ta 2 but my friends list of things that HAVE to be done tomorrow is very long and we are debating the act of going upstairs to bed or NOT!…grunt!…Sometimes you just want to be bad even though it will only hurt yourself..sniff!…We Want to stay up and watch the baseball game, but someone says that will be bad for us tomorrow! Tomorrow!..Who cares about Tomorrow!???…grunt!
11:43 pm on April 25th, 2014
Hi Macy’s Mom: We have a great, caring family. It doesn’t get any better than this. We are blessed.
The Alaska trip was one I will never forget. Speaking of which, I wonder how our hostess CHobbit is doing in Turkey today and what exotic food she is eating.
11:45 pm on April 25th, 2014
CHOBBIT!…I do hope she checks in…heh!heh!…Her little Hobbit Feet must hurt like hell right now…wuffle!
11:48 pm on April 25th, 2014
Vote!…grump!…Bedtime!..snort
12:07 am on April 26th, 2014
Dawson: the food is unbelievably good–lots of vegetables, olives, cheeses which arehealthy and lots of honey-soaked desserts. No beef but lamb, usually a soup course preceded by salads and appetizers.
I am in central Turkey. We’ve visited a co-op of handmade Turkish rugs and were walked through the whole process followed by dozens of carpets being rolled out for us. I wanted to by a tiny silk-on-silk rug to frame as wall art so I was taken to a special room where I made my choice.
Then we visited an underground city carved into volcanic stone going down seven layers where early Christians hid when they need to flee (when they were being hunted by Romans).
At night we saw the Whirling Deverishes. Today we have two 2-hour walks scheduled. Tomorrow is hot-air ballooning in the early a.m. Followed by flying to another part of the country.
I am in the land of Hobbit dwellings carved into hills from ancient times. Perfect for me
12:23 am on April 26th, 2014
CHobbit: Yummers! I would like to see the underground city but I wouldn’t want to stay down there for very long. I would like to go on a hot air balloon ride but I wouldn’t want to stay up in the air for very long. Handmade rugs, whirling dervishes and Hobbit dwellings sound excellent!
12:48 am on April 26th, 2014
Hobbit, this trip sounds so great. We are glad you’re enjoying it. You sure do deserve to be treated well, because you are such a great host yourself.
ML, glad to hear you went out for a burger with your friend. Baby steps…
Callie has found her calling. That story brought tears to Mom’s eyes. Us? We knew about Callie. At least Kat did.
We all went to bed while it was still daylight. Between Pop’s work, and Zeus’ acclimating, it has been a long week.
12:58 am on April 26th, 2014
We are packing again. Doggonit. Sniff. Mr.Staff is thinking of going to the baseball game tomorrow. Staff has stuff to do at home so she won’t be going. The Turtleman is back from the set of Hell on Wheels with all sorts of stories that I can’t tell you about yet. He wants to go back in about 10 days….WAAAAAAA I want to stay at the farm…snurffle. We shall see what happens…
The Hobbit sounds like she is having a great trip. I would love to see the rug factory.
nighty noodle all youse guys.
12:58 am on April 26th, 2014
End of the ninth inning and the Rockies are still tied 2 to 2. Chicago and St. Louis are also tied after 3 periods.
My eyelids are drooping and I’m off to bed hoping the right teams win and I dream of eating honey soaked desserts.
2:35 am on April 26th, 2014
Staff, we can never keep up with where you’re at, but we do know we would never leave our farm. Must you really leave yours?
