Plundering On

“I’ve got a few questions for Ratko Savic,” Bernie said. We were back in that abandoned housing development, Cactus Heights. Bernie went over the questions, kind of hard to follow, something about Astrid knowing Ratko, maybe, or possibly Foster knowing Ratko. And did Albie come up? Tulip? No sense worrying about all that.

Bernie glanced around. “There are so many of these godforsaken places these days. How’s the economy ever going to turn around with all this emptiness?” The economy – was that like our finances? They were a mess. If I haven’t mentioned the Hawaiian pants episode, I’ll do it now. And who could forget the tin futures?

We got out of the car, started walking from house to house. Lots of scraps blew around and weeds grew through the cracked pavements of the driveways. “Ratko’s not doing much of a job when it comes to caretaking,” Bernie said. Then he added something else. I missed whatever it was, on account of a smell I picked up, coming from the next house. Hadn’t I smelled this before, in pretty much this same spot?

“Chet? Where’re you going, big guy?”

Great ID badge yesterday.

And today our thoughts are with Dan and family.

Back to Astrid! Good to know that the Flow chart came in handy!

I KNEW that prayers from dogs about farting would do something!

Dan does not have to have the operation.

    Things have begun to 'move'!

Farting prayers. Who'd a thunk it?

Thanks to Chet, Bernie, PSQA, Admin and all the four footed and two footed folks who keep plundering on.

I told Dan about the prayers. He laughed.

Melanie – terrific news for Dan and the family – keeping everyone in thought. Your log and happy puppy pix bring smiles.

Good news about Dan. Keep on tootin'.

No Sam, You don't need to apologise. I got a kick out of your post about dog adandonment since I know you are just one of us many rather spoiled dogs and cats here on the blog. You'll have a good time with cousin Molly while the two leggeds are in NYC.

Then he added something else. I missed whatever it was…. We just caught up on yesterdays posts. WOW for Rio's friend to be on the winning side of that game! She is definitely a good luck charm. And yea for Dan being able to "pass". He sure doesn't need to go thru another surgery. Good thoughts passing from the blog to him.

*yaawwwwnnn* I'm a little slow starting today, too much napping to get done, I don't know where I will find the time for all of it.

I hope Sam is not to distressed over her "abandonment". I personally think that she was just trying for a little last minute sympathy and is now having a ball (or a squeaky toy) with Mollypop. I did not think that I would survive being left alone with our Angie for a week, but I did. Of course I had plenty of company with Belle, Holly, Annie and Biddie. Sometimes I wish the pups had their own playroom so that the grownups could have some peace.

Our Rangers are still somewhere around 8 up over the California guys. Woo and hoo!!

Those are the kinds of questions that Chet does not need to worry about but Bernie et al should. We now have an answer to one of our assumptions on the flow chart: Cactus Heights is the same housing development so Albie was employing Ratko.

I've been at school all afternoon. They want me to develop one of our elective literature courses into an online course. That's never been done before in our department. I said that I would, though I won't teach it until next year. This will be interesting.

Have a great time Melanie. We will miss you.

Rio: Shakespeare's version of Richard III is, of course, the Tudor version. (Elizabeth I's grandfather, Henry VII, became king after defeating and killing Richard at Bosworth Field.) If your friend has never read The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey, I'd recommend it. It's a very interesting and well written mystery and I think it's a more objective version of Richard III.

Hey everybody! Once again, I'm catching up. I'm glad Chet found his way back to Astrid. Now we just have to hope that nothing distracts him from the smell next door. And yes, Bee, now we can cross off the question mark on the link between Albie and Ratko! We're making progress!!!

Melanie: I'm so glad that Dan passed — in a good way, of course! We continue to hope and pray that he continues to improve.

Rio: Has your friend thought anymore about season tickets? I think I told you that back when Mom was little, the Angels won every game she went to one season — unfortunately, her allowance wouldn't stretch for season tickets at the time! Oh, and Rio, I think I'm totally earthy!

    Macy: Pffffft!!!

Is that Josephine Tey the one where they think Richard III was a scapegoat? Or was that a different book the Librarian read?

I assisted the Librarian over 3 years of online schooling, B. Stover, so if you need feedback from the student point of view, I am an expert. Here is a picture of me studying statistics so I could help her pass the class.

FK: You are (were) beautiful! I will check with you while preparing the online course.

In Tey's novel Richard III was a "scapegoat" after he died perhaps. Henry Tutor's minister (which one I don't remember–it may have been one of his minions) killed the princes in the tower and blamed Richard.

  56. Kirby T. Penworthy

Rio: Mom is pretty busy these days, too. With Amnesty Week going on, I almost thought my mom and your friend work in the same place — they're both going through busy season right now! Lots of people are so thrilled to donate books in order to get all their fines waived. These days a lot of people just can't pay their fines, and they've missed being able to use the library. Everyday more people find out about it and come in — is it true? Yep, and they smile and say how nice it is to be able to come back.
