Playlist Help
“You’re thinking of compiling a Chet and Bernie playlist?” Admin says.
“Right,” says Spence. “I’m looking for all the songs that have been mentioned in the series so far. I was hoping some people here at the blog might remember some, and note them down below.”
“Saving you from some work?”
“And maybe having a little fun.”
“Fun? Fun? What’s happening to this country?”
Welcome American patriot, Tucker & Team Fiddlin’, Bella, Casey & Tropicana, Demo de Dogue.

Gooood morning, everyone! Hey, OFA, will take mom a few minutes to kick start her brain for music references. In the mean time (in between time), Mmmm, craft shows, family parties, stormy weather…Have a frisky Friday 🙂
9:13 am on July 19th, 2013
Since Bernie and I don’t share the same taste in music, I don’t think I will be able to help. I could search on the Kindle but I need some words to put into the search feature. Pondering….
Good morning all.
9:28 am on July 19th, 2013
Good morning!
There are the camp songs “Parachute Woman”, “The Sky is Crying”, “Arrivederci, Roma”. on the uke!
9:33 am on July 19th, 2013
I know one right off the bat. Elvis Gospel songs. Wait, that might be from the blog. Hmmm. Need coffee.
Ever since Staff Double Dawsoned Abigal’s picture on that fantastic quilt, I’ve been meaning to mention what cool new Friends of Chet there are. We have a kat with thumbs and his friends, another kat with very mesmerizing eyes, a fiddlin’ dog team, a real American patriot and the very impressive Demo de Dogue. Chet has the most fascinating fantastic friends.

“If You Were Mine”
“It Hurts Me Too”
“Honky Tonk Blues”
Lots of Billie Holiday songs…
9:38 am on July 19th, 2013
Shower songs like: Your Cheatin’ Heart” and ” Born in th U.S.A.”
9:44 am on July 19th, 2013
Wasn’t there an Ella Fitzgerald song mentioned somewhere? And here are some more: Elmore James’ It Hurt Me too, If You were Mine by Billie Holiday, Honky Tonk Blues by Hank Williams.
Dawson, you are right that Demo is impressive. A Dogue de Bordeaux.
9:45 am on July 19th, 2013
OMD, Look what Oleys posted while we were tappy tapping! You know what they say about great minds…..
9:46 am on July 19th, 2013
More shower songs like: “Lonesome 77203”, “Born to Lose”, “A Tear Fell”, “Sea of Heartbreak”. I know, toooo much time on my hands.

I just received the ranch pretzels and a lovely bottle of Chipotle Mustard. Thank you Linda! Let’s see…. How about pretzels for brunch. Delish!
11:15 am on July 19th, 2013
Oh boy, maybe our pretzels will arrive today!

There’s a wonderful review of Shakespeare in the Park by Charles Isherwood in today’s NYTimes. He begins by saying that “from my perspective, civilization as we know it dates to the invention of air-conditioning.” This is his final paragraph:
“So consider me a convert, a cheerleader, even a proselytizer at times. And since I live downtown, attending Shakespeare in the Park performances brings an added benefit. I visit the Upper East Side almost as infrequently as I go hiking. (Yes, it’s happened on rare occasions, and I’ve spent the whole time fearing ticks and rock slides.) A 15-minute stroll from the Delacorte brings me to one of the best bars in the city, Bemelman’s at the Carlyle Hotel, where I can ponder the merits of the performance with a martini at hand, while savoring the fundamental pleasure of being safely indoors again.”

HRH B: The HOH has always appreciated culture (and we don’t mean beer in a bottle, not a can!) but are glad mom has chosen an area out of an urban area since we are not urbane and probably talk too much for town hounds.
11:51 am on July 19th, 2013
Thanks, everybody, for all these song titles. It’s a huge help. – Spence
11:58 am on July 19th, 2013
Chet: Mom says she’s gooood at the shower songs because shes a water sign, whatever that is.
12:15 pm on July 19th, 2013
HRH B: Where are you and Charlie travelling today?
12:18 pm on July 19th, 2013
Good morning! How rude. I forgot to say good morning.
Chet: Sorry to say I have been of no help whatsoever. Good to know we have some sharper memories on this here blog.
HOH: Beer in a bottle is a definite step up the culture ladder.
B: Rose just reminded me…your very own Travels With Charlie.
12:21 pm on July 19th, 2013
Masquers: and better looooking than Steinbeck, toooo!
12:25 pm on July 19th, 2013
Charlie and I are still in Stratford and we’re going to see one of my favorites: A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
12:25 pm on July 19th, 2013
HOH, saying you talk too much for town reminds Barb of moi. Our one neighbor from hell (ie, usually doesn’t speak and does not care for my kind) should read Smoky Mountain Tracker. Donna Ball mentions that “outside you can hear the happy sound of dogs barking”. That is the correct way to look at it, IMHO.
12:25 pm on July 19th, 2013
BStover: Shakespeare in the Parks, notwithstanding, I feel sorry for that poor nature deprived reviewer.
12:37 pm on July 19th, 2013
Charlie and HRH B: A play with 4 plots…WOW! And the language of love which, we think, begins with :”the course of true love never did run smooooth”.
12:47 pm on July 19th, 2013
Act I, Scene I, Line 134.
12:48 pm on July 19th, 2013
Dog On It. Found in chapter 18. 3 songs Bernie like to sing in the shower: “Your Cheating Heart”, “Born in the USA” and Chet’s favorite, “Bompity Bompity Bompity Bomp Blue Moon Blue Blue Blue Blue Moon”.
12:48 pm on July 19th, 2013
Rio: Impressions of Big Jim in Under the Dome and Hank in Breaking Bad…unlike Bryan Cranston, who changes character like a chameleon, Dean Norris seems to be playing the same part in both shows.
Fellow Plunderers: Sorry I’ve been MIA much of the time, but with no laptop or iPaw and iffy wifi, it has been a challenge to stay connected on a daily basis.
12:52 pm on July 19th, 2013
Mama is sitting in a restaurant on the Cape having her first quahog of the weekend. Yum. But we bet she won’t bring us any
12:55 pm on July 19th, 2013
Maskers!….That is all I wanted to hear from you pal…snort!…He is the very same character in both shows…heh!
V-E-T!….Guess who is going to go to the vets this afternoon….grunt!…That’s right B-e-a-u.
1:03 pm on July 19th, 2013
Barb&Magpie: The series Wookie’s Dad recommended is Definitely on our 2Read List.
You are so right…what could be better than…the Happy Sound of Dogs Barking.
BTW: Good to hear Moose Drool DOESN’t live up to its name. Heh.
Thanks for checking in yesterday, Tenzing. Looks like those Dancing Giraffes will be keeping you company later.
T&G: May your mama have HUGE sales and a wonderful visit with Spence.
Beau: Hope you back to feeling Tip Top very soon.
Safe travels and a Fun weekend, Melanie.
1:08 pm on July 19th, 2013
Rio, Let us know what the vet says about Beau’s injury.
Tenzing, Thinking of you today and thanks for reporting in for Snowhook.
Breaking Bad got 13 Emmy nominations.
Rio, The game starts at 6:30 our time and is on WGN instead of Root.
1:09 pm on July 19th, 2013
HRH B: YES!!!! That’s it.
1:10 pm on July 19th, 2013
Royals, Beat of the luck in the show this weekend and we are so glad Spence will visit you. Have Fun!
Melanie, Have a great weekend!

“Lord, what fools these mortals be.” (Charlie agrees.)
“Lovers and madmen have such seething brains,
Such shaping fantasies, that apprehend
More than cool reason ever comprehends.
The lunatic, the lover, and the poet
Are of imagination all compact [composed].” (I agree.)
1:17 pm on July 19th, 2013
HRH B: No mathmaticians here but: line 175: : I’ll put a girdle around the earth in forty minutes.” Is there an answer?
1:19 pm on July 19th, 2013
Mom says air conditioning has made all humans into weenie urban types who have lost connection to nature. And dog barking.
1:19 pm on July 19th, 2013
Beau! Run like the wind. Oops…sorry…you can’t.
1:21 pm on July 19th, 2013
I’ve managed to get on this here blog from one of the computers at the vet office. My Lady took me to the vet first thing this morning. As she signed here, here, and here—whatever that is—the vet tech took off my collar and handed it to my Lady. Nekkid! There I was nekkid in public. My Lady said when she had her back surgery she made the surgeon promise to make sure she was good and out before her back was exposed to the surgerical team. She is very modest. Me? I could go either way about being nekkid in front of strangers.
T&G: Belle Starr has some color options for your house—pink, spakles or pink sparkles.
B: We have been recieving postcards from Charlie this week. Our floppy eared mate will never be the same again. He’s having a great time.
Here comes the vet. Gotta go.
1:29 pm on July 19th, 2013
Tenzing: All paws crossed for you.
1:33 pm on July 19th, 2013
Tenz: Pawsitive thoughts coming your way.
1:35 pm on July 19th, 2013
No need to worry about me. The dancing giraffes just arrived. We go way back.
1:42 pm on July 19th, 2013
HOH: Well, Robin Goodfellow is a sprite so he can move quickly.
1:48 pm on July 19th, 2013
Yes, but what about mathematically?
1:49 pm on July 19th, 2013
I have to confess that I’ve been very glad that I have ac this past week. Oh no….Am I turning into an urban weenie? LOL!
1:50 pm on July 19th, 2013
HOH: I was an English prof and I’ve never understood math.
1:53 pm on July 19th, 2013
HRH B: And I was an English teach!
2:05 pm on July 19th, 2013
HOH: We need to ask a mathematician.
2:08 pm on July 19th, 2013
OK…Who is our blog mathmetician?
2:17 pm on July 19th, 2013
Siber? He’s our construction dawg…he must know math.
2:19 pm on July 19th, 2013
Math!…I’ve been known to whip out a calculator now and then…snort!
Mr.Tenzing!…How many teeth will he have left after this visit I wonder…sniff!…Beau has NO IDEA he is going to go see the great big Giant Vet this afternoon…heh!…This guy is huge and he has really big paws too…grunt!…Beau does not complain about his injury and he does stuff he is not supposed to, like going up and down the stairs or running through the house on Kat-Watch…sniff!…He runs with his leg pulled up though, so we know it still hurts him…grunt!…If nothing else she will get more medicine for him. Although, I am hoping they put a full body cast on the guy…grunt!
2:27 pm on July 19th, 2013
Rio: My guess is I will have more than two teeth after today. My Lady says she loves me no matter how many teeth I have or don’t have.
Beau: I brought snacks. Help yourself.
2:51 pm on July 19th, 2013
Prof Bee? An urban weenie. What the Puck? Say it ain’t so.
3:11 pm on July 19th, 2013
Masquers, I don’t do math. It isn’t necessary. A Husky can be very creative (just ask my mom) without knowing how to count higher than two.
3:13 pm on July 19th, 2013
I am worried about Rose. She is suppose to have a high of 95 degrees today. That is not like a high of 95 degrees here.
3:27 pm on July 19th, 2013
It’s 95 degrees here…humidity 49% so I’m staying in the ac.
3:39 pm on July 19th, 2013
Lacking palm fronds, I’m fanning B with my ears. My flip-floppy ears aren’t just for looks. They’re also functional.
3:39 pm on July 19th, 2013
It is 93 here. Humidity is only 24%. I have no idea what that means, but let me tell youse I am still able to dig. Momma says I have more than 2 holes.
I did stay in my air conditioning most of the day, and so was Momma because she had to work in her home office. But she says the minute she is done working, she is going out out out!!!
Yesterday, at her job, there was a fire drill. The people had to wait outside for all of 10 minutes, and you would have thought they had to line up in front of a firing squad, they way they whined about it. Momma, meantime, was so darn happy being out of the office building.
3:55 pm on July 19th, 2013
After the matinee we blurred back to my easy chair. Charlie is a very good fan!
4:05 pm on July 19th, 2013
BSD, Barb told the lady at the liquor store that Moose Drool was pretty good. She said she thought it sounded disgusting!
Big V*E*T with big paws? Sounds like the one that wrecked me for life the first time he cut my nails and made me bleed like a stuck pig!
Good luck Tenzing and Beau.
4:20 pm on July 19th, 2013
I am here. It was the road trip from h*** and as hot.
Saw a school bus of kids. Windows opened, but they looked like they were being torchered. I believe they were.
I’m surprised that the tires didn’t melt on the road.
YSAS was Robin Goodfellow in high school. He can’t do math.
Tenzing and Beau feel better.
I’m going under the sprinkler and then sit in the shade. There’s a breeze.
Talk to you tomorrow.
4:28 pm on July 19th, 2013
Beau!…He sprained his knee…snort!…This is exactly what my friend thought he did, but she felt compelled to spend $40 to find out for sure…grunt!….Not to mention the cost of Rimadill stuff…wheeze!….She thought that taking her mother along would have helped keep Beau calm, but it made the trip worse for some reason. He would not sit still and he didn’t want to ride in the back seat because my friend always lets us ride up front. So basically it was a couple of short road-trips from hell too…heh!
4:36 pm on July 19th, 2013
Rio, Your friend did the right thing by taking Beau to the vet. We are glad is it only a sprained knee. From experience with her own dogs, mom could think of more serious injuries to Beau’s knee/leg/foot that it could have been.
4:37 pm on July 19th, 2013
Vet!…That Giant vet is the only guy Beau will let touch him…heh!…While his big paws were all over Beau and especially his back sore leg, my friend was cringing and just waiting for Beau to go berserk. But he was a perfect angel during the whole examine….wheeze!…My friend said she told the guy that he is the only one who Beau behaves for and the vet was so surprised. He said he could not imagine Beau ever being grumpy….heh!heh!…My friend just shook her head.
4:39 pm on July 19th, 2013
Weight!…Beau is back up to his chubby weight….heh!…He has not been walking lately so he weighed in at 26 pounds…grunt!
4:43 pm on July 19th, 2013
Yeep! A thunder-dunder is heading our way! Momma is mad because she is finally done work but has to wait this out.
Beau, I am very happy that you only have a sprain.
Melanie, I am happy that you arrived at your destination, but I don’t see you. Weren’t you coming down here to visit me me me?
I feel sad about the poor tortured children.
4:44 pm on July 19th, 2013
Oh poor friend of Rio. Hopefully the money was worth the trouble. Heh. Beau is like a child at a sewing class. At the quilt shop where I play they usually hope the parent (mother) does not stay while the child is taking the class. The kids are much better behaved if their parents are not there.
I am having a party tomorrow. People who quilt with me are coming over to look at some linens I have collected over the years. And to have a little something to eat and drink. Heh. The house is not too messy but the quilt room is a pig sty.
I know I won’t be able to keep them out of it though. Oh well. they have been warned.
I am glad that Masquers and Snowbella checked in.
5:22 pm on July 19th, 2013
743.3…mph says the daddy dawg. sorry Puck.

I also had another road trip from hell: 8 hours to Anchorage. Xanax for the dog did not work….two pills before we started and two more on the road. At the first rest stop Sadie wondered onto a trail through the woods by a creek and wouldn’t come when called. I tracked after her and once in the woods was absolutely covered by mosquitoes. Scary. Back at the car I was trying to swipe the mosquitoes off Sadie before she got in the car. I dealt with mosquitoes in the car for the next five hours. Lots of road construction so kept being stopped. At the third rest stop I was hanging onto the leashe as Sadie plowed ahead (a 70 pound dog is strong) and the leash broke. I was not in a good mood when I arrived. Unless the vet can come up with something that puts her out I cannot have her with me on these trips.

Basil and Sage: cool song. The lyrics made your singing tolerable.
5:34 pm on July 19th, 2013
Anyone here visit trouble this time of year? Apparently, I’m in it or headed for it. Either way, I don’t know what to pack. My Lady is working from home today and just visited the kennel. I was so excited to see her that I forgot the manners I stole for Pancho—he’s borrowing them from someone else. It seems what I thought was a play gnaw turned out to be too much and broke the skin on my Lady’s hand. While she wrapped her hand in the sleeve of her sweatshirt, I immediately resorted to my go-to move when I’ve been caught doing something bad.
Step 1: Stop whatever you’re doing.
Step 2: Sit up straight and smile.
Step 3: Let your tongue hang out—either side will do. This is a key component in being forgiven. Never forget this step.
5:52 pm on July 19th, 2013
Lefty!….You drew blood?…grunt!….For shame on you!…bah!…Even Beau at his worst has never drawn blood – just a lot of black n’ blue marks…sniff!
6:00 pm on July 19th, 2013
Black clouds are circling overhead. We may have to power down.
I have great plans to watch both the Tour de France and the Rockies game tonight, but mom and I may end up setting around in the dark.
Lefty, Shame on you, but I know you didn’t do it on purpose.
6:01 pm on July 19th, 2013
HOH: Perhaps Puck was exaggerating.
6:20 pm on July 19th, 2013
Yark
We are turning off the computer.
6:26 pm on July 19th, 2013
Monsoons!….Sounds like SiberH is in for another well needed rain storm tonight…snort!…I hope he can watch the game. It is the Cubbies weekend…heh!…My friend told me she has tickets for Sunday afternoon….Woooooo!Hooooo!….She has never seen the Cubbies play in person before. This will be really great!…grunt!…Yeah, while I stay home and snuffle the rug….grump!
7:35 pm on July 19th, 2013
Lefty, I know how that happened. Sometimes Our Kind has just too much passion and it sort of gets away from us. I find stopping, and sitting at attention does wonders. I’ll have to work on that tongue thing.
7:45 pm on July 19th, 2013
Kat, your sadness over the poor children made my Mommy guffaw.
8:03 pm on July 19th, 2013
Last we heard, Mama and the Storyteller were getting ready to turn in very early. Seems they have to set up at 4 am or so. That is Mama has to set up. The Storyteller is healed enough to come along to the show, but he ain’t about to lift crates in and out of the van. At least not while Mama is watching.
She said she will let you all know when OFA comes by.
G’night all
8:19 pm on July 19th, 2013
Good night Amalia. Tell Storyteller to take it easy, and have a great shew tomorrow. Lots of boomers going on here, but not sure how much rain will follow. May shut down just in case.
8:39 pm on July 19th, 2013
Exciting!…How exciting for Golinka and Leonard to be in the same town as The Charming Mr. Abrahams… wheeze!….What an amazing thing!…snort!…I cannot wait to see the photos and hear the stories…heh!heh!

Geeee!…heh!…I was going to say that we are settled downstairs and starting to watch the Rockies vs the Cubbies…sniff!…Great evening for a ballgame. The temperature is very nice, no wind and it is wonderful…yiippppeeee!
9:20 pm on July 19th, 2013
SiberH!…Are you watching the game?….snort!…Our favorite announcers where talking about Todd Helton and his ranch …heh!heh!…They said the name of my town…chuffle!…I knew Todd was practically my neighbor, but it was nice to hear about it during the game…sneeze!….I never see him on all my walks, I wonder why?…sniff!
9:45 pm on July 19th, 2013
I’m waiting at the vet for Tenz to get out of post op. he was under dead toon for longer than they expected due to difficulty with pulling his teeth. Apparently, he was quite attached to them. I did manage to see a long tail black bear getting loaded into his truck when I pulled into the parking lot. I wonder if one of Melanie’s pack blurred by to visit Tenzing today.
9:50 pm on July 19th, 2013
Dead toon = sedation. Damn Ipaw.
9:57 pm on July 19th, 2013
Teeth!…Oh no. Poor Mr.Tenzing – that will hurt like crazy when he wakes up…sniffle!…I feel so bad that he has to go through so much pain and suffering…wuffle!
Beau!…In all his stupid stubbornness during the stressful car-rides back and forth to the vets, has hurt his knee more, so he is pretty subdued tonight…grunt!
10:08 pm on July 19th, 2013
Claudie had all of his teeth pulled except for five in front, and he says he never felt better!
10:18 pm on July 19th, 2013
Princess, What poor children? I have forgotten.
10:22 pm on July 19th, 2013
Kids!…I thought lil’ Sammie was talking about the kids sweltering on the bus in Melanie’s story…sniff!
10:37 pm on July 19th, 2013
I feel sorry for almost toothless Tenzing and sore-kneed Beau. Hope they feel better soon.
Hope Golinka and Storyteller have a really good weekend and get to enjoy some time with OFA.
PASSPORT NEWS!
The Plunderer Passport is almost finished. I think that you can start sending your $10.00 into Snowhook Kennels any time to ensure you get one. A limited edition of 30 have been printed. The latest additions are brass corners and gold-leafed pages! I am going to send the final product to Snowhook Kennels Monday morning for their approval. Turtleman says we will have a photo shoot real soon and post it on the blog. But, no need to wait to send your money into Snowhook because I guarantee you will want one of these beauties. They are simply spectacular.
I’m hitting the hay so goodnight to all ‘cept for Liz. A fine Aussie morning to her.
10:45 pm on July 19th, 2013
Passport!….Wow!Wow!Wow!…snort!…I love that turtle-guy….heh!heh!…I am going to go count my pennies right now. I bet I have at least 10,000…chuffle!
10:48 pm on July 19th, 2013
Pennies!….Make that 1000 pennies. I miscounted…heh!
11:04 pm on July 19th, 2013

Pot check? Not likely. Our check!
11:30 pm on July 19th, 2013
My Lady and I just arrived home. I had a rough day. She had a long day. But, I think the vet had the roughest day of all. She told my Lady that I refused to let my teeth go so she really had to work to get them out. I had a hard time coming out of sedation, or so I’ve been told. I bit my tongue very hard when I was coming out of it. As I remember it, I was dancing with the giraffes—it was a complicated dance number—and I zigged when I should have zagged.
11:53 pm on July 19th, 2013
I have the cake all ready for the party tomorrow. Mr.Staff just asked it he could have some. ahahahahahahahahahahaha.
He knows the answer. He was just jerking my chain.
The passports are almost ready. Brass corners and gold leafed pages! Whoo Hooo! I have seen those custom hand folded brass corners on Turtleman’s work before. I am not sure 10$ is enough but we want everyone to have one. I sure wish Golinka had hers for this weekend. Maybe she can have a page signed or stamped and she can ‘tip it in’. Tipping it in is an official way to add a picture or other extra page into a book.
I suppose I had better send in my money. Sniff. You would think a sister would have some sort of special pull, but since it is Snowhook, I will send in the money without any more complaint.
12:45 am on July 20th, 2013
We are a/c weenies, no apologies.
As I recall, Melanie said that the children were being tourchered. That sounds extra hot.
A woman fell off a rollercoaster and died here tonight. Her restraint was still fastened. Odd.
1:39 am on July 20th, 2013
Reporting from the quilt: there has been some changing of the guard so to speak. Normally, I serve a pillow for the inhabitants and visitors to the quilt. I take a lot of pride in this job, but tonight we had to switch things up a bit. Either I’m too big or Beau is to small for me to be his pillow. He is serving as the pillow tonight.
