Who left those stinking parrots out? Good thing that Pookey is 1/2 Aussie Shep. She herded them right back into their places.

Hello All. The Pets for Vets video made Mom cry. We are getting lots of hugs.
1:39 pm on November 8th, 2014
Been checking in every 30 minutes or so to see what’s up. Hope the lack of activity means everyone is busy and happy and safe.

Good day, All.
Alice, you are a beauty.
MPM, I am waiting with baity breath, as HOH would say, to see photos of your new digs. I LOVE your decorating.
Good on Pets for Vets.
I’ll bet that everyone is getting Auction and Boutique items ready today and that’s why there isn’t much blog action.
We have six inches of snow predicted for Monday, which will be a good day to have a strengthening cocktail. (Or two.)
3:15 pm on November 8th, 2014
BB, white shiitake? At least we will be spared that but it will be frigid here and windy. MPM, you must post fotos of the new digs.
3:28 pm on November 8th, 2014
Thanks for the great video, sniff. I know about Paws for Cause, but I didn’t know about this organization…both are very worthy causes.
Congratulations to our FOD….Alice!
Zeus, I Hope your eye is improving.
No snow here.

You’re right, it is quiet. We have been busy too. Getting ready for a little walk. Looks like some chili and cornbread for dinner.
Barb blew her diet recently for some Talenti brand ice cream – seasonal flavors apple caramel and pumpkin pie. Both to die for!

Greetings!
That is a lovely picture of Alice M. Johnson. That picture most definitely will be included in the 2016 calendar.
MPM: Good luck with your apartment hunting. Looking for new apartments is something I actually like to do. The packing and unpacking on the other hand is a big pain in the butt.
Heh! This is a first! I, the small and meek, will actually have some things for the auction and the boutique. Even I can’t believe it! I will try not to include any fingers in the photos…
Teddy RR: I hope your gal Zeta likes the calendar!
Hoping all those in Alaska are safe.
Zeusikov: Hope your eye is better soon. You are in good paws with Nurse Meash there to care for you.
5:33 pm on November 8th, 2014
Wose: We Here think Fingers in the Photos are a nice touch.
Snow for Billy’s Buddy!
A Brand New Apartment for MollyPop’s Mom and LouLou. No more dealing with the Hallway Bully.
Alice: You Look Stunning, as always.

I bet MPM will will mist that wonderful restaurant downstairs from her apartment. And that bakery, my oh my!
We agree that moving is a big pain. Hopefully, Barb will not be moving ever again. This place is perfect. We purged a ton of stuff when we moved here, so if we ever did move again it would not be as hard as the last one. Plus we had to find happy homes for 27 chickens and 2 goats! I am fairly sure MPM does not have to do that!
6:07 pm on November 8th, 2014
Barb,Magpie,Lucy: We know of One Chicken that is happy about the move and seeing her former coop-mates.
So nice that Peaches remembered Barb!

That is so cool. I hope she finds her mate. He was bring food to her before she went into rehab, so sweet. Do they mate for life?
6:59 pm on November 8th, 2014
Not such a good time at play group today. This was the second Saturday since it started up again for winter. Last week Sofie was there and Loulou was excited to see her again. This week Rosie and Bailey were there. Also BFFS. But then three new dogs showed up and they were pouncing on Loulou and the others too. Loulou was stressed by this. I would pick her up and then put her down when the coast was clear.
I will give it two more weeks and if this is the way it will be, I’m not going to put Loulou through something stressful. This is supposed to be fun.
7:30 pm on November 8th, 2014

We here left the house early for a walk over to Ruby Jo’s house. Her dad (my son) made us breakfast (A Catty’s daughter, her man friend and Ruby’s mom included), then we went to the library for storytime and crafts. Then A Catty and I laid down for a long nap. We were both exhausted.
Then another short walk to the nearby thrift shop for browsing and back to plan dinner. Pizza is ordered and we will pick it up on our way back to Ruby’s house.
Hat tip to Staff for that emotional video and to Alice for being the friend of the day!
DianeC: I like the story about the raven. Yes, they do mate for life and I am sure if her mate is alive they will find each other.
Rio: I love that movie and Dick van Dyke.
Tomorrow we are walking up a muontain…weather permitting.
7:57 pm on November 8th, 2014

What is she thinking? Mary Poppins maybe? Dick VD was a chimney sweep in that one. Fiddler is one of our favorite musicals ever. Others are Annie and Camelot.

Dawson! Nana says to tell you she Forgot the Date in the Passport! Yark!
Paws crossed the Polar Vortex will not descend until after you land in MPLS.
Rio: As long as there are Enough Cookies for the Boutique all is well.

Rio’s friend’s cabbage rolls looks so good. There is a foto in our cookbook.
Nice looking photo up above of Gilly and her Storyteller.
We have been watching a vintage SNL from 1979. Rick Nelson in the guest host. All the old regulars are on – Murray, Beluchi, Akroyd, Radner, Murphy. What a blast from the past!

12:48 am on November 9th, 2014
I’m tired too. Just thinking about Mollypop’s Mom having to move made us very tired.
Little Keiko managed to remove her pink collar today. She came out and loudly told me all about it when I went in to check on her just a few minutes ago. Luckily Henry still has his. We can really tell the difference between them now as Henry is bulking up faster than Keiko. He is a little butterball. Or maybe I could call him Greedy Guts II
Night all.
Yawnnn

Thanks Sparrow. Good points!Just for sake of dissucsion, Kirsten , I asked my husband last night if he felt that parents today in general are looking to have the school system take over their parental responsibilities, or that parents were pretty much always looking for ways to pawn their kids off on others. He works with guys whose kids all go to public school, and works with the public at large, especially parents of young children. His opinion was NO, that this has not been his experience. He has had a similar experience as I have had, that he had been surprised at the people who were well aware of a line that they did not want to cross between their job as parents, and stuff that the school should or should not provide for their kids. I just thought that was interesting.I hope you know, Kirsten, I really enjoy your blog and am not here to duke it out with you. I love to examine attitudes and beliefs, and with my experiences on both sides of the educational (and other!) fence, it sometimes seems like my specialty to debunk myths that others hold near and dear. Hope you are enjoying the conversation as much as I am.

The thing is that many times the parents who don’t NEED to take adnavtage of these programs do anyway, to get their kids out of their hair. They are wanting to expand the breakfast program to kids who don’t even really NEED it.In our little local paper I happened to see the income guidelines for the free/reduced meal programs at school. They were quite high definitely not just poverty-level (really nowhere near it). So pretty much anyone could take adnavtage of the free breakfast. That’s what I’m talking about it’s not just for the poor whose kids would go without breakfast, it’s for the kids whose parents would prefer for the school to feed them rather than feed them themselves even though they have the means.I’m not talking about the parents who have no other choice but to use these programs. I’m talking about the parents who willingly are turning their children over to be raised by the state (and then claiming that they the parents are raising their children).

threefold,I applaud your mirnitsy to those in need. I imagine it is a tiring, never-ending road. I wish there were more Christians reaching out in Jesus’ name to the poor and hurting of the world. With the 2 income people using after school care, where do you think the kids would be if not at the school? (I am not saying this snotty. I am seriously wondering if you think they would be home with parents, at day care, or whatever.) I am thinking that if they were going to be at day care or something, the situation is largely the same for the kids. Although I agree that in this type of case the gov’t should not have to pay for someone else to have errand time!
