    Review!…Hey, I actually read that whole review….snort!….It was one of the best and it was also entertaining. If I had never read a Chet and Bernie book, I would get one just because of this review….heh!snort!….Isn’t that the whole point of reviews anyways??…sniff!

    Finally – Lunch Break in the land of Crazy Lady.
    Mama had a terrible headache right before lunch. Then she realized that since she got called in unexpectedly early, she dashed off without ever having her coffee! Thank Dog for the local Dunk’s.

    So – after our local histrionic weather forecaster’s predictions of CRASHING, dangerous THUNDERSTORMS with GALE FORCE WINDS, heavy RAIN, and possible POWER OUTAGES!!!, we had some rain a while ago, and now the sun is out. Geez – somebody give that guy a pill or something!

    What a crummy day – it was raining, Mama got called into work early, she forgot her coffee, and she had to deal with some of her least favorite customers.

    Then she came HOME! And she had a package of BEE-YOU-TEA-FUL patches. And she got the incredibile news that Rio’s friend is going to Alaska. What a GREAT day!

    And now for a Pondering Point. Mama showed the patch to her Dad. He really liked it. Then he asked if there was a decal version that would stick on his car window. Hmmmmm. What a great idea. Wonder what it would take to get it made up as a sticker…..

    BTW: The Prof and I attended the NY screening of the Sing Sing documentary “Zero Percent” on Saturday. I was brought to tears by the film, and I am so very proud of the Prof.

    Been a hard day here. Zoe, though helped by the acupuncture, is in a great deal of pain. My sister will be driving her into the doctors tomorrow.
    The Pack has been concerned. That’s always interesting. . .

    Anyhoo, YSAS, Hamlet and Ophelia have let common sense prevail and they are NOT coming up this weekend. They are going to hole up in Queens with bottled water, flashlights, food and boardgames.

    I’m really glad they aren’t coming up here to drive back during Irene!

    Hey, y’all! I just got back from an adventure! Dad put us all out in the backyard, but then he went out the front gate to get the newspaper and didn’t realize that the back gate wasn’t latched. Those Girls just hung around waiting to go back in the house, but I took off! I ran across the street to the park and I was having a pretty good time over there. Then I saw Dad and decided to go play with him. But instead of playing, he grabbed me and made me go back home. Sigh. 🙁 Well, it was fun while it lasted!!! 🙂

    Crazy!…. We were stopped by a strange person on the street tonight during our walk….snort!… My friend was polite and stood there and listened to her ramblings while I acquainted myself with the crazy’s two guys who were walking with her… sniff!sniff! Coco and Blue. They were nice enough. Finally me, Coco and Blue all laid down on the sidewalk while the crazy lady kept talking…wuffle!… This messed up my friends plans because by the time she got us away from that person the clouds were moving in bringing a storm so we came home instead of going another 30 minutes up another hill….whew!

    I am totally flabberbegasted about it. She will get to meet Whitey-Lance, Twig, Annabelle, the Good Rio and all the other guys and gals. What a luck!

    Melanie and All: I was thinking about sending White Wings cross country and I would love to do it and to get all those pawprints but I was thinking…(sometimes dangerous, I know) and wondering if some of you wouldn’t rather have your own paw printed copy…and I was thinking that it is very likely that Dan has a few more copies that he would be willing to sell to you. Myself I was hoping to buy a copy of the book that Rio snatched out of my hands at the last second of the Auction, Second Chance. I could be way off base here but I’m sure Melanie will let us know. I know if I was an author of such an excellent book I would’ve saved a box or two for…Plunderers!

    ooh, Rebecca!!! We wonder if your invite is serious. Because Mom and Dad would LOVE to do that. Mom just told Dad the Rio’s friend was going to get to go and he is super jealous. Would people be able to get hotel rooms? We would also not want to horn in on Rio’s friends special vacation. We may have to do some checking on flights. Where would one need to fly to?

    Bear, we got our patch today and it is indeed special. Thank you again to all the creative people who had a hand in its creation. Now if SiberH will just forward those tags to us, we can make a super cool shadow box.

    Loved the article and review. That person actually got the essence of the stories correct. We can’t wait for the new book. We are getting the Kindle version first, and then get an autographed and paw-printed one.

    Going back now to watch Rose’s video. Glad you’re back, Rose. You were missed.

    Alaska!… I think Rebecca’s offer for anyone who can make it North To Alaska is sincere….snort!…I’m sure she will set you all straight if there is only room for one person to visit that state, that one being my friend!…Wooooooo! heh!

    Rooms!… Willow has a unique Bed and Breakfast which is made up of little cabins….snort!…Rebecca would know more about what is available for a group of Plunderers to rent during that time….gruff!…I think there is a big house for vacation rentals in Willow too!…snort!

    Party!….If enough Plunderers show up we could have a Great Big Ole Iditarod Party right there in Willow…heh!snort!heh! …. I just know she will take me along with her, I just know it!!!…snuff!

    We had thunderstorms tonight, and Mom had to work all night since she got home. She keeps showing us very scary maps of Irene.

    Was the invitation sincere? As serious as one of Natasha’s Nutter Butter cravings. It is so sincere I even mentioned it to the tall, bearded man I live with.

    You would need to fly into Anchorage. We live about 75 miles north of Anchorage. Rio has already mentioned the lodging options; I think if a gaggle of Plunderers were to come up for Iditarod, booking lodging in Willow should happen sooner rather than later. We live in a small (some woud say cozy) homestead, but the places Rio mentioned are only a couple miles from our property so that would be easy enough.

    Some things you might want to know:

    *The race starts the first weekend in March.
    *The musher banquet will take place on March 1st; this is where AJ draws his bib number. Last year tickets were $75 a person.
    *Vet checks will take place on the 2nd; picture dogs for 50+ teams getting poked and prodded by volunteer vets. Race fans show up to watch the final vet check of the racers.
    *March 3rd brings with it an early morning and a drive into Anchorage. It is crowded in the staging area, but race fans can get fairly close for visiting, taking pictures, etc. After the Ceremonial start we tend to make last minute preperations (which usually involves me driving to town) and we relax a bit.
    *March 4th is game day. In the past we’ve gone for breakfast at one of the two places to eat in Willow (we had four at one time, but one burnt down and the Burger Bus, an actual bus, is no longer in business), and then we head to the starting line. Depending on the number AJ draws it might entail quite a bit of waiting. After AJ and team are on the trail, it is Insider time where I break out the cheesecake and huddle over the computer.
    *Coach, my father who has joined us for the race start activities thinks it is very, very, very important that I stress I stop functioning as a human being on the Monday night or Tuesday morning after the start of the race.

    Rose: That was an amazing video. My favorite part was seeing the men in their graduation gowns.

    Wonder if Spence is thinking of getting up to Alaska. With Hurricane Irene heading right for Cape Cod and the upper eastern seaboard, we think Spence could put up a sail and get swept right up to the north pole for free, and then make his way over to Rebecca’s for hot cocoa and the famous popcorn.

    It looks like I can’t steal a photo from her facebookie. It comes in a weird format and I couldn’t get Photoshop to accept it. So you will have to be content with a photo of Elliot from a distance doing his high wire act on the roof.

    My wouldn’t it be great if more than one Plunder could go and visit the Iditarod and Rebecca and AJ and all the dogs! It isn’t in the books for me unfortunately. However if people need special tags I will be happy to make them up.
