PB Pub Day: The Dog Who Knew Too Much

“Today,” says Admin, “is pub date for the paperback of The Dog Who Knew Too Much. Tell them what the Boston Globe says – it’s right there, on the cover.”

“I don’t feel comfortable doing that,” Spence.

“What does comfort have to do with anything?” Admin says. “I’ll do it: ‘Chet the dog is the most lovable narrator in all of crime fiction.’ There. Didn’t bother me at all. In fact, I feel tip top!”

    Rebecca, how are you feeling?

    And what about you, Staff?

Gah! Mea Culpa….in last night’s post i wanted to thank G&BB, and wrote G&G instead. The horror! Anyway, thank you so much G&BB for allowing me to have the Dream Project. XOXO

Good morning all. Congrats on the publishing day. We agree about Chet, of course.

Property update: showing this morning at 11:00, 2nd showing tomorrow night at 6:30. First people are coming back with a contractor, to get pricing for adding another bedroom over garage.

Couple that was here for so long on Friday – she wants it, he isn’t sure. He is the one that says it is due to trains, but we wonder if there is really some other reason and that is the least likely reason to cause a fight with his spouse.

I sent all the rest of the suggestions to GLAD. She thought Riö’s were pretty funny.
I will let you know what she decides.

Dan decided he was coming home this Friday after we put in the chair lift. Guess what’s not happening. First, Dan JUST got the okay to walk around his room without supervision. Second, our house is 200 years old this year. The staircases were not built for any sort of thing like a chair lift. If he comes home unable to do stairs we will be getting a bed in the downstairs west wing. It is big enough.

Today is a hurting day. What the heck is going on with the weather? Luckily, the video game nephew is cutting the lawn for us today.

For PBPP day. Now let’s get on to publishing day of Fistful of Collars!
    Train Whistles!
I love that noise…but at 6 in the morning when you could sleep for one more hour…not so much. We lived in front of a railroad track when we were kids and if we were lucky the conductor would whistle and throw us big pieces of chalk. My house in Montana is right across the street from the railroad tracks and when I added the second story onto it and the trains went through…the whole upper story shook…I thought it would shake off the foundation…30 years later and that hasn’t happened. I loved watching the trains switching cars in the early years when the switchyard operated, and the Amtrak passenger train and there was always the possibility back then of hopping on a freight train going somewhere else! I love trains!
Who was asking about garlic? I like having a pound or so of garlic butter at the ready to slather on bread, or fry some eggs or put on vegetables. I’m retired now and I am allowed to have garlic breath if I so choose!
    Yippee!
The Iditarod entrance fee is assured. Now…what is next? I’m already hoping that Snowhook wins one of those brand new trucks.
    Elk!
I am amazed at the stupidity of people going up close to a huge wild animal. Do they expect to pet it?
    Rio: Love the owl quilling.
Wolfie: I missed some posts…who’s Claudie?
Jasper: What?! Now something is wrong with the binding on my little quilt!? I looked closely and yeah…something does seem amiss. Heh!
Mom has been in the hospital since Friday due to too much warfarin (blood thinner) being prescribed so that her blood became dangerously thin and we got frantic calls telling us to immediately come to the emergency room. She is not a happy camper. Her first words when she saw me yesterday were, “Good, now get me out of here and if they say anything, tell them my lawyer will sue!” She was spitting mad. She has calmed down…if her conditions are met. Dad and I are off to the hospital for the day.

We had a long weekend, travelling to Connecticut to see Ringo sing Sunday night. Stayed Saturday and Sunday night at a B&B near Mohegan Sun famous for great breakfasts and the occasional ghost. The latter is not surprising since the property borders a graveyard with stones from Colonial times. Adding to the fun, they haven’t kept up the place for decades. When I walked Yuji Saturday night at dusk I found the cemetery and noticed that it was filled with fireflies – unusual because they hovered in one place and flashed rather than darting about like our Long Island fireflies. Sunday night when my son and I went to the concert, Donna was left entirely alone in the house with whatever ghosts may be out that night, but nothing happened.

Princess Sam: Are those Yankees something? Si si. We have tickets for Old Timers day July 1.

Sam, remember, I can be a closet Yankee fan at times. It is okay with me if they win 10 games in a row.

Melanie, Not quite sure the proper terms to use, but what is GLAD’s art form? Are they chalk, oil, water color? Whatever the form, they are beautiful. Such talent. Are they commissioned pieces?

Don’t know what is going on here, but we just got a call for another showing tomorrow evening, back to back. We are not complaining, just wondering if it is a result of the sign, or the last price lowering. Whatever it is, maybe positive energy in the universe, we are happy and hopeful!

  32. Barb & Maggie
    12:56 pm on June 19th, 2012

Bee, Speaking of birds, we have a pair of Baltimore Orioles that nested in a tree right by the driveway. Last week they were busy feeding, but now it seems quiet, so the fledglings must have fledged. They made the nest, which is sort of a hanging pouch, right down in the bottom branches so it was easy to see. They are one of the most beautiful birds and fairly rare around here.

Today’s showing is over, and since this one was with an agent from Barb’s office, she got immediate feedback. The lady, single and in her early 50s, loved it as did her daughter. She is going to her bank tomorrow to discuss financing, but said she will not have to sell her current house. She told the agent that if any offers come in, to let her know immediately, otherwise she will be in touch on Thursday. Things are looking up. Must be all the positive Plunderer thoughts and prayers.

    Hi Guys,
Jeez those doctors lie like a rug. “No it won’t hurt. We numb it first.” lie lie lie. I would rather have a dozen root canals.

I feel better now but we didn’t get back until 10:30 last night and I went straight to bed. This morning I took a nap. Now I feel pretty good. Not supposed to lift heavy things for a few days.
    Yuck.

No news until Wednesday or Thursday. I think they are just doing that cover your butt thingy myself, but this is my first transplant so I have nothing to compare it to.

Oley Howlers, great article about James Ellis! That has to be my guy. I kept it on my computer. I looked for information about the person who bought the dresser. Barb&Magpie: Hurrah! Things are definitely looking up. Thanks to Natty’s hard work there is lots of interest in your lovely farm. Paws crossed here for a quick sale.
Wolfie: Loved your titles for GLAD’s artwork. BTW. Hope your mom back to feeling good as new.
Terry: Did you and your son enjoy the Ringo concert? Also, have been meaning to ask you if you happened to see the Save The Troy Library video that was posted a few days ago.

Concert was fantastic! The most fun was just listening to him talk because he sounds exactly like he did in 1964 with the same droll humor. Well into his 1970s he can belt out a song while doing jumping jacks. Very highly recommended.

Staff: “This won’t hurt a bit”. I can’t believe you fell for that old line again! Hope it all feels better soon and your kidneys are up to snuff.
Mom comes home tomorrow. No more blood thinners for her, forever!
Mollypop’s Mom: We don’t complain about mom because she never complains. Dad is another story and when we three girls are together…a few bad words have been said…although we always end with…”but we love you anyways”. Heh!

Checked and Rechecked to make certain our kindle copy for A Cat Was Involved pre-order request is on file with Amazon and A Fist Full of Collars too. One can’t be too careful…the last time our order got lost in the shuffle.
Staff: Thank for posting the cover.
We are following in Melanie’s footsteps. It has been a long, trying day.
Let’s just say A Foe Paw Was Involved.

The clock is ticking until I leave to go south an so much to do between now and then.

Thanks all for good thoughts about my root canal. The pain woke me up early this morning, but I’m feeling much better now. I’m hoping Staff is feeling top top like Admin very soon.

    Rio: Checked. Impressed. Responded.

Rio, I don’t know how much you have read about what the sports writers say about is going on with the Rockies and they probably don’t know much more than we do, but they have been saying things like the front office and management knew all along this would be a bad year for the Rockies. The Rockies fans were kept in the dark about all of this. I don’t know.
I’m beginning to think that more than just the players need to be shuffled around this off season.
They should let you and I try managing. We couldn’t do any worse than what is happening now.

News!…My friend joined a Quilling Club…heh!heh!…This is a new experience for her, joining a club. When she sent in her membership dues, she thought for sure she would never hear from these guys and kiss her money goodbye…snort!…But they actually got back to her and gave her a bunch of information plus a login to the special secret pages on the website that one can only access if you are a “Member”…heh!heh!…So guess what she found out tonight? There is one other person living in the same town as us who is also a member of this club….wooooo!…This person has a website and a real company….wheeze!…My friend is going to get in touch with her tomorrow possibly and see what happens…snuffle!

We keep trying to tell Mama to get on the blog before this indecent hour, but noooooo. She just has to get all her other work done first. And then we don’t get to talk to anyone.

    Oh well.

If anyone is still awake – Bella, Howlers and MollyPop’s Mom all have SDD messages.

Staff – have you ever seen that cartoon where there woman is layin on the operating table but she is holding onto the doctor’s…um….private parts. And the caption is “We are NOT going to hurt each other, ARE we?”
    Maybe worth remembering next time…..

and Rio – don’t worry – you are never a loser to us.

    Uh-Oh.
That quilling club won’t know what hit them. I sure hope Rio will still be able to visit us at Chet’s once his friend starts running the quilling club.

    heh heh heh

    Those damn Tigers….

Bella, I finished all the Sookie Stackhouse books. AJ is right. Evanovich is better. But they pass the time nicely. I finished the last one waiting around in the hospital yesterday.

Rangers are about to win against the Padres. Our pitcher even got on base, he was tickled! Last night out on the air announcer started blabbering nonsense, so he is getting a couple of days off. Now they are thinking that he might have had a mini-stroke. It is pretty hot here too, but mom has not left the house since Saturday, so she is cool as a cuke.

Our “elderly” (76) grandma is anything but, and wouldn’t even know how to complain. We are blessed.
