The patch is going to look fantastic on the sled! Some of the plunderers are talented photographers…wish we could send them up for the race to take a lot of photographs for us.

Good morning, light day so far on the blog.
Does that mean Spence was the AD that is now going to be able to distribute the patch? We already bought ours, but just asking.
BSD, Did your Barb like the movie last night? Barb recommended itto her sister, who will never watch anything Barb suggests. Her sis was born in 1950, so thought she would like it. Also, reommended it to her daughter for the family to watch. They haven’t gotten it either. It was so exciting that someone actually took a suggestion from Barb!
Auction will be ending Sunday. We plan to be at the computer at 10:30 ct to make our last minute bids, just like on ebay.

Good afternoon, y’all! I tried to get on this morning before Mom and Dad left to go grocery shopping, but nobody was here. 🙁 They also had to get a couple new tires for my boy because when he was on his way home from school yesterday one of his tires exploded! Luckily, he had just gotten off the interstate. I shudder to think what would have happened if that had happened when he was going 70 mph!
Sam: I think the new ‘do makes you look much younger — that’s good because it may take them awhile to get around to making the movie. Now you don’t have to worry about “aging out” of the part!
Barb: Mom and Dad went to the theater to see “Flipped” when it first came out — they both enjoyed it because it’s a nice, sweet, family-friendly movie. The kids are funny without being annoying, like so many movie and tv kids are these days.

Oh happy day! Bev surprised me this morning and started making batches of THE popcorn that is a delicacy with AJ and I. To my disappointment, she called AJ and told him that she was making the popcorn for him and that he should be on the lookout for said popcorn when I return.
TSA does give you a funny look when you have a suitcase full of bags of popcorn.

Hello Everybody, Its been so noisy in the house today, we couldn’t hear ourselves meow. Because of the bad storms, Mom said the Howlers had to stay indoors all day long. They hate that, so they had an all-day Howl Fest.

Melanie: Bev, my mother makes the best carmel popcorn as well as almond bark popcorn. She only recently gave me the recipes which I submitted for the cookbook. Both types of popcorn are favorites of AJ and I.
Bev sent some of the special popcorn to Alaska with Coach during the last Iditarod with hopes that a large Ziplock bag of popcorn would make it to Nome to be given to AJ. It did not. Once the race started, I signed up for the Iditarod Insider and Coach and I sat side by side on the couch watching AJ’s dot move across the screen while eating the popcorn. It was the only thing either of us ate for over twenty-four hours.
Popcorn and jam are AJ’s favorite treats. I submitted the jam recipe from friend of the Kennel, Jodi only because it is a favorite of AJ’s and he’d eat it on the trail if he could. I hope no one minds a non-Plunderer recipe in the cookbook.

OK Bear, Barb, being a chicken aficionado, noticed several inaccuracies in the movie: She was supposed to have gotten these chicks from a school science project, so no way would all 6 be hens, some of them would have been roosters; 6 hens would give her about 4 eggs a day on average, so she was handing out way too many eggs (as you noticed); they were making a big deal about finding out if she had chickens or roosters. Then they figured out that roosters are chickens too. Then Dad sent the kid back to make sure they did not infact have roosters (like no one would have noticed the crowing), because he didn’t think they could eat the eggs if roosters were being kept. Probably the average movie goer wouldn’t pay any attention to those things, but we happpen to be stickler for proper research, to the point of being a Pain In The Ass! Still really loved the movie!

Barb & Maggie: I love her last name, too. Oxenrider! Her husband is the official welder of the Kennel and the gent that helped AJ move our handler cabin a couple of days ago. They both handled for us at the restart of the Iditarod this year. Mick was a natural—one hand for the dogs, the other hand for the dogs.
Rio: I think your theory is correct. Bev comes across sweet, innocent and open hearted, yet I suspected she has a bit of evil pug in her this morning when she called AJ to tell him she was sending popcorn to him. Her exact words: “I trust her (me) with my money and my life, but not with the popcorn.” Blast!

Oh, I mean the older one was a runt and I fed the younger one on raw cow’s milk starting at 6 months. He sprouted! They were about the same size by the time the youngest was 2. The oldest is wearing a swim cap because he had tubes put in his ears due to chronic ear infections. Notice they are walking barefoot on the gravel alley.
