    Greetings!

I do believe the Snowhook Dogs eat fish heads, chicken skins, and hunks of beef.
Paleo diet for me, not so much.

    Everyone have a wonderfluffed Wednesday.

Good morning, everyone! Ah, diet debates continue. Raw, home made, kibble, people food or no? Just like 2 leggers with carbs/protiens, carnivore, vegetarian, vegan. Perhaps the answers lies in all things in moderation.
And speaking of food: a vulture boards a plane carrying 2 dead raccoons. The stewardess says to him, “I’m sorry sir, only one carrion per passenger.”
    Have a windblown Wednesday.

    Good morning, All.
    Only one carrion. heh heh!
Diet Schmiet. We do moderation. For every critter, we eat a bowl of kibble. That is how we roll here.
    Leo and Mia are awesome.

Good morning all. We are back to winter weather here.

You can keep that paleo diet for dawgs. Just keep giving me all the good stuff along with cottage cheese and dishes of cream.

    And catnip. Lots of catnip.

I want more of that Paleo diet. Mommy feeds me dry old kibble and she says that it is venison and sweet potato. I’m not sure about the venison part. I don’t taste the meat. Mommy always shares a little bit of her dinner with me so yesterday I did have chicken and carrots added to the dry old kibble.

We here believe in moderation. Barb’s son Josh does Paleo, but it is so restrictive. We like dairy, whole grain crunchy breads and potatoes and brown rice. We just try to eat real foods and organic as much as possible. As far as my kibble, we stay away from corn and soy.

We did get hit with that cold snap here, 70 will be the high for the day.

The ‘maters here are getting to be a lighter green…can red be far behind? Some of the volunteer sunflowers are beginning to head. NO lilacs this year 🙁
Mom and DDD are off to a nice lunch with the boys then a rousing game of scrabble at their house with the broken AC. Mom said she is looking forward to that like a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Doesn’t sound like fun to us.

LouLou, Do you get an egg on Sunday? I love meat, yes I do, but it needs to be cooked. Yesterday, we here had lamb chops and asparagus.

After a yucky, hot, humidity filled day yesterday, we are back to light jacket weather.

    B&M,

Paleo is as restrictive as you make it. The most important thing in our plan is to avoid bread and pasta. Potatoes we used to buy by the bag – now it is the occasional one to go with a steak. Our motto is that if the list of ingredients reads like a failed chemistry experiment, you don’t want it in your body.

Today at the store mom bought those Nathan’s little hot dogs in rolls and chili cheese Fritos…more healthy eating she has learned from this blog.

Mom says, No, to the raw food diet for dogs.

Barb, Sorry, those are our lower temperatures that went through here a couple of days ago. I would take them back but mom wouldn’t.

  25. Mollypop's Mom
    12:29 pm on May 28th, 2014

Like Terry, I pretty much follow a Paleo diet too. Once I couldn’t have gluten, anything that replaced it did not taste as good so this was easy to do. There are some things like rolls for a hamburger or bread for a sandwich that I still eat. My diet is ruled by my blood glucose meter. If I have taken in too many carbs then my blood glucose fasting level in the morning will be over 100. That is called prediabetic. My goal is to keep it between 85 and 99.

We here did not know the Paleo Diet could be Less Restrictive.
There is a company that specializes in these products which we have yet to try. The bread is supposed to be tasty and has 1 carb. As the wrong carbs are the villain here, it Sounds Promising.

I hope Lucy Lou gets better fast. Oh yes I do.

Of course I am purrfect! Turns out that Momma just took me along to help her evaluate the training place. It is Zeus that needs some work (though I think he is purrfect too). Momma was worried after the initial meeting with Tundra. Also, he is uncontrollable on leash. She says she needs to get an evaluation so he can hopefully go to Pints for Pups with us. This place was great. It is in an old converted barn, and most of the staff worked at the Humane Society. The owner is going to meet Zeus for a private evaluation and lesson. Sooner or later he will get to meet other dogs and play in their super dog park. (Whispering) I met him in a big dog yard with lots of dogs, including Tundra, so I’m a little confused. The woman who we talked to said that an unneutered male arriving at Zeus’ new home with Zeus on a leash would be expected to stress my guy out. But Mom wants to be sure about things.

Barb and Maggie, Here is a recipe for Kale Chips. They really do get crispy. Try a few first. I think they are an acquired taste. A Catty Librarian and her daughter really like them. Me, not so much.

    1 bunch kale
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    1 teaspoon seasoned salt

Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a non insulated cookie sheet with parchment paper.
With a knife or kitchen shears carefully remove the leaves from the thick stems and tear into bite size pieces. Wash and thoroughly dry kale with a salad spinner. Drizzle kale with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning salt.
Bake until the edges brown but are not burnt, 10 to 15 minutes.

Sadie looks really happy with her Mr.Carrot. Who knew these toys would be so popular. And effective!

Had to go to the big city again today. Dr.s appointment and the car also had an appt. So now the car has a new alternator and a new belt tensioner (whatever the heck that is) and I have been informed that the ‘little’ hernia I had last fall is now a huge hernia.

    grump.

Supposedly they are safer than tiny ones but now I am told it might be too big to operate on. Grump. Last fall it was so small we would just ‘watch it’. Huh. A lot of good that did.
So on Friday I get to have a CT scan and then next week meet with Dr Mistri, the transplant surgeon, to see if he thinks it can be operated on. Sigh.

However I might have to see a different surgeon if Dr. Mistri thinks he would do a better job.

Staff, we are grumping with you. We will also eat orange in solidarity.
Prayers needed for Mom’s brother. She just found out he has been having “issues” since Thursday. She spoke to him on Saturday and he sounded fine, and just kept talking about their great fly-fishing trip to Maine with her sister’s family. Now we learned he had bad pain in a wrist that was diagnosed as tendinitis, then gout, until it spread to the other wrist. Now it is affecting both knees and he is unable to walk. They think it is an infection in his heart. He is in Emergency yet, and they are awaiting results from a Kat scan. He is getting heavy antibiotics pumped in.

O’Howlers. What a scary thing for your brother. Hope they get it figured out soon.

We are having a good time under the quilt. Tenzing is playing poker again. You should see how he came in to the game. A harness, a collar, a really nice black and gray dog coat and 4 green booties. snicker. He claims the 11 tags on his collar all count separately.
