Good morning all. Ole actually made the Today Show this morning too. He looks none the worse for his experience. The article we read said the deceased’s daughter was making a poster with Ole’s pictures on it when he was found. He must have had a special place in her heart.
9:53 am on January 6th, 2012
Didn’t we read this story yesterday?
Good morning all.
9:59 am on January 6th, 2012
Good Morning All!
B&M: I saw that story on the Today as well.
Here’s a different story that was on the early morning news, B:

Good morning all.
I should have known that Tupper and Gillymönster would have seen that article after I went to sleep!
I’ll be in and out today. Have a less violent form of the flu going around.
Yuck
10:18 am on January 6th, 2012
Sheesh – Corgis don’t get no respect.
10:18 am on January 6th, 2012
Rio, I feel awful that you are unable to make the trip to the Iditarod. I had planned to live vicariously through you. I do understand how things like this can happen and I also believe that there’s always next year.
10:21 am on January 6th, 2012
Rio, We went back and read your sad news from last night. So sorry, as everyone is, that you and your friend are not going north this year. I hope Beau is not to blame! Maybe it will work out for next year.
10:24 am on January 6th, 2012
B: Yes, Melanie posted the link on the blog yesterday. Amazing that Ole found the motel room. This is very close to where Nana’s sister lives.
Rose: Poor Coraline! I have no sympathy for anyone else in this story.
Good Morning Everyone!
10:34 am on January 6th, 2012
I’m sorry that Rio’s friend can’t go to Alaska. We’ll be able to following the race online though and that will be fun.
10:43 am on January 6th, 2012
Sammy said it all.
Rio & Friend: We stand by you in your decision and will not ask why.
Rebecca: We all appreciate your most gracious invitation to visit. It was a wonderful day when Snowhook Kennel came into the lives of the Plunderers.
Thank you to Siber-H and Rio for starting us on this fabulous adventure with our dear friends in the far north. We will never be the same.
Melanie: Sorry to hear that nasty flu bug has touched down in your vicinity. Sending good thoughts that you will be feeling tip top in no time.
10:43 am on January 6th, 2012
Old!….Why is Spencer always a day late and a dollar short with his news stories…grunt!….We discussed this Corgi yesterday or last night or sometime in the past, didn’t we? …sniff! …There must be a heroic Pug out there somewhere making news…ahem… today!…gruffle!
11:02 am on January 6th, 2012
Flu!….Well, we all knew Melanie was bound to get that flu at one point or another….grunt!…I just hope she doesn’t pull a Zoe and keep over-doing it so she gets better quickly….sniff!…Didn’t she just get over a nasty cold and cough?…wuffle!
Sick!… My friend doesn’t feel well today either, but I think it is because she is sad….snuffle!…On the bright side like everyone says there is always next year, right?….snort!….Wait, isn’t the world was supposed to end on 12-21-2012….grunt!
11:03 am on January 6th, 2012
NEWSFLASH – Colorado Post Review.
“It has been reported that world’s most courageous Pug resides right here in Colorado. Forced to live with an irascible curmudgeon, given only a cold, hard bed to sleep in, dressed embarrassingly in Grandma’s unmentionables, and deprived of all baseball toys, brave little Beau not only keeps going day to day, he actually does sweet, endearing things for the family who treats him so terribly. Yes sir, that is one courageous Pug”
(giggle)
11:14 am on January 6th, 2012
News!….That’s what I’m talking about!…snort!…Real news about a Pug!….chorkel! …That story does sound awfully familiar for some reason…sniff!
11:29 am on January 6th, 2012
Rio: I am sad to hear about your friend’s news, but it was a decision made for the best, I’m sure. Sometimes things just do not align perfectly.
I was looking forward to seeing you in that blue and black snow outfit that I talked about a few days ago. You, sir, would have rocked it!!!
11:29 am on January 6th, 2012
Rio: Sad? Me too. Care to join me at the center of the quilt? I’ll bring the Zingers and maybe some ice cream with fresh fruit and a bit of chocolate sauce…If that doesn’t make you feel better, the brain freeze headache may help you forget your troubles for a bit.
More to Rio: Your pug mug(shot) is at the top of my page right now.
11:50 am on January 6th, 2012
Rose!… The only Parkas in my size were pink…grunt!…There was no way I’d be seen by Junior and the A-Team in a Pink Pug Parka….wheeze!….She says we will keep looking for the Black and Purple Parka come hell or high water…sniffle!
12:03 pm on January 6th, 2012
Quilt!… There’s not much room on that there quilt what with You, CHarris, Melanie, Zoe, Dan, Kirby(because we have not heard from him), BluKat and her Paw….sniff!… I need a fair amount of room you know, so move together and then move over.…grunt!
12:05 pm on January 6th, 2012
Hey for all of you Jack Reacher fans out there, there is a terrific two full page article in today’s WSJ (one of those yucky publications my dad reads) about Lee Child, the Jack Reacher series and the decision (ahem) to cast Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher. Whatever you think of that decision (and I seem to recall a dissenting view or two on the blog when previously discussed), the article itself is well done and very interesting. I’m putting the link below, but if for any reason it doesn’t work, just google Wall Street Journal Jack Reacher and you can also find the article that way. By way of full disclosure, my dad hasn’t read any of the series, but his interest has been piqued based on all the favorable comments about it in the past on the blog and he is now definitely going to add it to his “To Read” list, which unfortunataly is already rediculously long already.
As to Melanie and the flu, grandpa had it last week here (it was pretty mild because he did have a flu shot last fall), and while it required an emergency room visit one night and a follow-up visit to his regular doctor, he has recovered very nicely and is now back into primo tummies condition as well. Hopefully Melanie’s case will prove to be just as mild (grandpa just took tamiflu for about 3 days and he got all better very quickly).

Speaking of Kirby-T, I thought after the Christmas pagent for church, which I’m sure was a hit, we would see our friend again on this here blog.
12:34 pm on January 6th, 2012
Poser!…I’m glad Spencer and The Charming Mr. Abrahams doesn’t stand around posing like that guy who writes the Reacher series….sneeze!….Although, one good thing about Lee Child is he seems to like baseball because he uses it in his books and as his Hollywood analogy…..grunt!….I guess we should put book number one on our to read list…sniff! …I just don’t want to picture Tom Cruise as the main character while I am reading it….gurgle!
12:44 pm on January 6th, 2012
Whassa matta Rio – you don’t think you could “look up” to Tom Cruise?
(giggle)
1:05 pm on January 6th, 2012
We are very disappointed and sad that Rio’s friend won’t make it to Alaska this year, but we understand. All of us have had to change plans like this in our lives. There really will be a next year and no end of the world. The Iditarod will be run in 2013!
1:13 pm on January 6th, 2012
Thanks for the link to the article, Wookie.
Rio, you can read the books if you want without picturing Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher. They are so far apart and there is nothing Crusie can do in the way of acting ability to turn himself into Jack Reacher.
We will not see the movie. Just thinking about it makes me want to go outside and barf.
1:14 pm on January 6th, 2012
SiberH!…Let it be written, let it be so….snort!

Rose!…snort!
1:56 pm on January 6th, 2012
Hello All,
We missed last night’s news and have jus now read it. Rio and Friend, we know this had to be an extremely difficult decision to have to make. And we also know how much Rebecca was looking forward to your companionship as she chews those nails.
Like everyone has said….there will be other years, and perhaps more Plunderers will be able to make the trip next year and then lots of us could have fun together.
2:02 pm on January 6th, 2012
Rio, we put in our vote that the word will still be here in 2013.
You will have another chance. Yea.
We agree on Tom Cruise. Yuck!
3:07 pm on January 6th, 2012
Cruising!… Tom Cruise is a decent actor and I’m sure he can pull off the persona of the Reacher fellow…snort!…Just not the enormous size of the character as written in the books….sniff!… As with all books that get turned into movies Hollywood hardly ever surpasses the quality of the written word….wuffle!… I just hope Cruise doesn’t show up as Bernie Little one day…yeep!
4:05 pm on January 6th, 2012
We have been a little out of touch this week. Why does Dawson have Wookie’s avatar?
4:08 pm on January 6th, 2012
And we are wondering why (or even how) someone takes a Corgi skiing.
4:40 pm on January 6th, 2012
Rio – We will still be all together for the Iditarod, no matter where we actually sit on this planet. I looked into going this year but couldn’t manage it, so maybe next year I can go too.
5:09 pm on January 6th, 2012
Mollypop’s Mom: I had the thought that if we all start saving now (or win the lottery) and the world manages to stay in tact there could be a convoy North to Alaska!
I can’t get a picture out of my head of Beau wearing a foam finger on his flat head during the race.
5:13 pm on January 6th, 2012
Macy: Corgis can do anything…just ask the Royals.
Did not see the aforementioned Dawson/Wookie avatar switch, but stranger things have been known to happen on occasion.
Rio: Please! Don’t even whisper Bernie & Cruise in the same breath.
5:17 pm on January 6th, 2012
Hey everyone,
It’s been a while, but I wanted to let you know today is a bitter sweet day for me and Brewski. Sophie left this morning for her forever home. She’s going to a great family but we will miss her. Thanks for all your support during this.
5:35 pm on January 6th, 2012
Cruise as Bernie, OMD!!! Worse than awful. Still haven’t come up with the perfect guy for his role. We thought of a few who would have been good, but are now too old. What about Jeff Daniels? He needs to be tough, but not mean, sort of burly, and “shambling”.
5:36 pm on January 6th, 2012
Melanie: Please check your SDD.
Samantha: Sohpie will never forget the kindness you have shown her.
5:46 pm on January 6th, 2012
Samantha: I know you and Brewski are already missing her. You did a very good thing working to find Sophie a forever home. Please do keep in touch.
5:53 pm on January 6th, 2012
Samantha – hey! I’m Samantha too.
Your love for Sophie has prepared her to be able to better accept her forever home. She will go in and expect to be loved right away. You did a good thing.
5:57 pm on January 6th, 2012
Samatha, We are thankful for people like you in the Dog World!
Did anyone see the article about the dog loving pro football player (no not Michael Vic!) who just got a $58 mil contract to play with the Miami Dolphins? He has 4 dogs and at least 1 is a pit. Miami has a breed specific ban against pits, so he had to move to a place farther from the field. He said if he couldn’t have had his dogs, he would not have signed the contract. He also said some bad things about M.V.
6:05 pm on January 6th, 2012
Samantha, Thank for letting us know. With the help you gave her, she will do fine in her new home. You saved her life.
Barb, I didn’t see the article, but I totally support saying bad things about MV.
6:05 pm on January 6th, 2012
Convoy!…Hey good buddy!…snort!…I know which finger Beau would have up on his flat head…heh!
6:08 pm on January 6th, 2012
Bella, check your SDD. What time does the race start tomorrow? Inquiring minds want to know.
Congrats Samantha.
Going to bed.

6:08 pm on January 6th, 2012
We have the cd with the song Convoy on it…just in case it is needed.
The guy that recorded that song spent several years as the mayor of Ouray, Colorado.
6:22 pm on January 6th, 2012
Hey your Pugness. This is for you.

6:28 pm on January 6th, 2012
Rio: Snort! I guess that meant thumbs down on the snowsuit? Oops, I guess you don’t have thumbs. 🙂
Please, Not Tom Cruise for Bernie. I was thinking about Jeremy Renner in the role.
6:36 pm on January 6th, 2012
Rose: No Opposable Thumbs!
6:47 pm on January 6th, 2012
Masquers: Ooops…
Rio: Your picture is on top next to my friend, Zelda.

Hovercraft – A cat on a glass-top table.

7:09 pm on January 6th, 2012
Jeremy Renner wouldn’t be a bad Bernie. He is about the right age.
Interesting angle on the pic, MPM.

Below is the link to the race. It starts tomorrow at 11am AK time.

I think my favorite pug in that picture is the exhausted soul laying on his back. Snort and snore!
7:21 pm on January 6th, 2012
Has anyone read the novel Girl With a Dragon Tattoo?
7:21 pm on January 6th, 2012
Siber-H: Watching “Jeopardy” here. I just found out that your state is nick-named the “Land of Enchantment.”
7:23 pm on January 6th, 2012
B: I’ve read the entire series. Couldn’t put it down.
7:24 pm on January 6th, 2012
I have, B: In fact I have read all three. If you would like, I can mail you my copy. I have the triology on my Nook.
7:28 pm on January 6th, 2012
Rose: I was just about to offer my hard copies as well.
7:29 pm on January 6th, 2012
Thanks Rose and Rebecca. I have Dragon Tattoo novel but haven’t read it yet. Since both of you read all three in the series, I’m assuming you liked them. The friend I went to the movie with also read them and liked them. He said that the movie followed the one book closely. I guess I’ll read the books…but I’ll skip over the rape scenes. (I liked the movie but I thought that much of the violence could be eliminated. It seemed to be violence for the sake of violence.)
7:32 pm on January 6th, 2012
B: I did a bit of skipping as well. I haven’t seen the movie, but I really liked the books. I had a hard time getting to it at first as I was trying to keep the names people and locations straight, but once I got into I couldn’t put it down.
7:40 pm on January 6th, 2012
B: I think you will like the books very much. Each book has a story thread that runs through to the next. The Swedish films did better justice to the triology. The American version of “Tattoo” leaves out a key part of Lisbeth and her mother, and her relationship with her father. Interestingly, the original title is “Men Who Hate Women.” The violence and the sex are a big part of who Lisbeth is, and has a lot to do with the history of the Vanger family.
7:40 pm on January 6th, 2012
Rose – ahhhh, yes. And there is a reason for that
Oops, there goes Mama again- getting homesick.
7:42 pm on January 6th, 2012
Okay, you’ve convinced me. I’ll read them. (I understand that they are making movies of the other novels with the same actors.)
7:47 pm on January 6th, 2012
Rebecca: I felt the same way about the first book. When I first saw the Swedish film, they did a nice job of taking out most of that information, but the film didn’t suffer because of it. Like you said, it was confusing, and a little hard for me to get through, but the payoff was great! I loved all three books, but the “Dragon Tattoo” was terrific.
More pontificating: The American film version left a lot of the book out. Best to see the Swedish version.
Over and out!
7:49 pm on January 6th, 2012
“Men Who Hate Women”….that’s interesting. I can see that in the relationship between Henrietta (if that is her name) and her father and brother. I’ll be trying to work out the reason for the hatred as I read the novels.
7:51 pm on January 6th, 2012
I did see the original version of Dragon Tattoo on tv…with English subtitles. I’d like to see it again so that I can compare the two.
7:52 pm on January 6th, 2012
Stover, Mom read all three of the Dragon Girl books. She liked them.
Today is the Land of Enchantments birthday. NM has been a state for 100 years.
7:55 pm on January 6th, 2012
Samantha: I’m sorry you couldn’t keep Sophie but thanks for caring enough to find her forever home.
Mollypop’s Mom: That is a great picture! (Makes up for that one at the parade.) How’s the hip?
Willow, Alaska! Not an easy place to get to. (Sorry B.)
8:02 pm on January 6th, 2012
Awesome Dawson: AJ and I have talked about doing the Yukon Quest at some point. At least we’d be heading in your direction.
8:08 pm on January 6th, 2012
Happy birthday New Mexico.
8:15 pm on January 6th, 2012
Mollypop’s Mom: Great kat picture!
Mom saw all 3 Swedish versions of the movies from Netflix (dubbed with minor subtitles) She hasn’t read the books yet, but plans now to do so.
Siber: Happy 100th Birthday to New Mexico!
Signing off here too.
8:18 pm on January 6th, 2012
Dawson – That picture was good because I didn’t take it. Ha ha.
My hip is healing and I hope to ski on Monday. Just gently ski.
8:20 pm on January 6th, 2012
Friday!….Jasper, great Pug-Friday photo!…heh!…The guy laying on his back with his feet up is being very Beau-like…heh!…That guy cracks me up sometimes when I look in his bed…snort!
Hover!…chorkel!….I wonder what Alice would look like on that glass table…snort!….We all know what AbbieTheKat would look like the Titanic right before it sank….heh!
8:21 pm on January 6th, 2012
Masquers: Like B, you’re welcome to my copies of the books. Let me know.
If you sprayed a little Pledge down, you could do some quality dusting with that cat.
8:22 pm on January 6th, 2012
Mollypop’s Mom: Take it easy Monday.
8:24 pm on January 6th, 2012
Masquers: Did you like the three films?
8:25 pm on January 6th, 2012
Rose!….I’m not into wearing clothing of any kind…sniff!… I like my wash n’wear natural coat thank you very much….wuffle!…On rare occasions when the power goes out and it is really really cold, I will agree to having my Coat of Many Colors put on…..chorkel!…So please do not send me any clothing for my birthday…heh!
8:41 pm on January 6th, 2012
Dragon!….What little I know about the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is what I’ve seen on the previews for the movie via TV…sniff!…That beautiful Brit, Craig (aka 007), hires her to track down a killer….snort!….My friend wants to see the movie only because he is in it…heh!
8:55 pm on January 6th, 2012
AJ will be heading to the pre-race musher’s meeting shortly if he isn’t already there. They will go over race rules, race route, trail conditions. I’m not sure, but they may even draw their bib/starting number.
I don’t think Junior is going to be in the race, but I think his kennel bud, Gomez will be on the trail.
8:57 pm on January 6th, 2012
Daniel Craig is very good in the Dragon movie.
I wonder how Dawson is doing with Lighthouse.
9:01 pm on January 6th, 2012
@ Barb and Maggie That was a baseball player named Mark Buehrle. He is an excellent pitcher and an animal spokes person for Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. An excellent all around person. Him and his wife do a lot of fund raising and activism for animals and dogs specifically. A true role model.
9:04 pm on January 6th, 2012
B. Stover: Are you enjoying your retirment? It sounds like you’ve got your reading list made. It was only a few short weeks ago that boot rears were floating and you were swimming with the Newfs.
9:10 pm on January 6th, 2012
Speaking of the Titanic: There is an auction of Titanic memorabilia going on. Who was it that loved all things Titanic?
I got Mail!! Packages received from BearSpiritDog and Tyb. Whew. Those MG’s were thwarted again.
Tyb: Those pictures are really, really wonderful.
BearSpiritDog: The aroma angel is a gift…but maybe I should make sure it works. Heh.
9:12 pm on January 6th, 2012
Baseball!….heh!…I’m so glad the dawg-lover is a baseball player…snort!…Thanks Samantha for bringing up the subject during the Off-Season…snorkel!
Mushers!…. I thought I read where the Mushers Meeting is at some Bar and Grill near where the race starts….snort!….I hope AJ the Giant is enjoying a large burger and fries to go with all that information….chuffle! ….Too bad Junior won’t be running the 200 mile race, but if he isn’t ready, he isn’t ready….grunt!…He’s still wet behind his ears, so there is no rush. One day he will find his Personal Legend…heh!
9:14 pm on January 6th, 2012
Dawson: I take it there is no sign of the calenar, yet? Grump. Testing out the aroma angel? I think that’s called quality control. 🙂
9:17 pm on January 6th, 2012
Yes, I am enjoying retirement!
9:18 pm on January 6th, 2012
Rio: The meeting is held at the bar where the race starts. I’m sure AJ won’t go hungry at tonight’s meeting. Junior is still a pup at only a year old. AJ will be taking yearlings so the name of the game is to pace and have fun in this race. The young dogs will learn about life on the trail and gain race experience so as they get older they will be experience racers—that will be the time to lay the hammer down.
Before I left for the lower 48, I put each of the dogs, including Junior in charge of the kennel. I’m sure he takes this responsibility seriously…or at least someone does.
9:21 pm on January 6th, 2012
B.Stover: I read your questions today. Hmmmmm. My brain started to fizzle. I have the day off tomorrow. Maybe in between watching the updates on the race and being the “angel in the house” I can answer a couple.
9:24 pm on January 6th, 2012
Top!….Beau’s photo came up on top of the page…heh!…He looks different to me now. I hope my friend takes some new photos of him and posts them….sniff!…Somehow his face is happier, even if some other faces around here are not quite as happy…chorkel!
Phew!…I told him his photo was up top and he resoundly farted…grunt!…That’s gratitude for ya!…wheeze!… I’m not sure if resoundly is even a word, but I needed it….gruffle!
9:47 pm on January 6th, 2012
Baseball!!!
Rio? Do you know which millionaire baseball player lives in the Richtofen Castle in Denver? The Castle is in Montclair, to be more specific. The baseball player has to be a Colorado Rockie.
I’m just curious because I was reading about it today on the internet.
9:52 pm on January 6th, 2012
No wait…It wouldn’t have to be a Rockie. It could be a player that lives there in the off season.
9:52 pm on January 6th, 2012
Dawson: I haven’t looked at those questions for a while. I’ll look tomorrow.
9:52 pm on January 6th, 2012
Castle!….No SiberH I do not know which Baseball player lives in a castle here in Denver…heh!…I didn’t know Denver had any Castles…sniff!…I’m more curious about The Father and Son team on the Rockies this season…grunt!…I’m not entirely convinced this is a good thing…wuffle!
10:14 pm on January 6th, 2012
Samatha, Thanks for giving the correct info on the baseball player. I got the animal lover part of it right. You can probably tell I am not into sports, so I thought he was a football player. I could swear they said he played for the Miami Dolphins, and he was knocking Vic who plays football.
10:15 pm on January 6th, 2012
Yes, Denver has a castle.
I don’t know anything about the Father and Son team.
I’m preparing myself for the fact that the Rockies will look different this season.
10:26 pm on January 6th, 2012
Tracy!…The Rockies acquired Jim Tracy’s son in a trade….snort!…Should be “interesting”…grunt!
10:45 pm on January 6th, 2012
Abbey!…. We are having fun watching The Making of Downton Abbey…heh!…Quite a production and what an enormous amount of great actors (employed) in this series…snort!… Finished part one and part two. Got the second CD already and we are planning to watch that after all our very very very busy time is over tomorrow…sniff!
Bath!…Beau’s bath time has been moved up to 10:00 in the morning…heh!heh!…That guy is gonna bring down the house, and not in a good way…chorkel! …I feel very sorry for the Groomer. And I never feel sorry for the Groomer …wuffle!
10:47 pm on January 6th, 2012
Are you going to the groomer tomorrow, too?
10:55 pm on January 6th, 2012
Huh!?….Groomer? Me?…snort!…No, no, no, no, no….sniff!…I’m a bathtub kind of guy…grunt!… It doesn’t happen often, and when it does everyone involved gets a bath not just me…gruffle!
10:57 pm on January 6th, 2012
Night all

Race!… AJ the Giant and his young team will be in a Race tomorrow! Someone please post the link again in the morning just in case Kirby shows up and needs to know where to go!…wuffle!
Tired!….Someone here is emotionally drained and tired tonight…grunt!…This week has been a tough-un…sniff!…So I have reluctantly agreed to hit the sack early on a Friday night just to make her happy….heh!…First we have to wake Beau up so he can climb the stairs to his cold hard bed which he enjoys immensely for some strange reason…chorkel!….Night All!
