9:29 am on October 2nd, 2012
Heh, heh, I went back and found mine and sent them in!
Last night not too good. This whole grieving thing sucks lemons.
On the other paw, YSAS is doing stand-in work for CSI:NY. Then he works his construction work for the next three days. It’s called PAY TIME!
He had new head shots taken by a friend’s friend who is a fashion photographer. Can’t wait to see them.
Both YSAS and OTAS is coming up Saturday night or Sunday morning. Thank Dog.
9:44 am on October 2nd, 2012
Melanie: Please post the new head shots if you can. Glad the guys are coming there this weekend. (Was YSAS in Elementary?)
9:57 am on October 2nd, 2012
Mary here. My mom is doing much better. They removed the ventilator yesterday and it went well. Hopefully she’ll be home by the end of the week. I am taking the train home today.
I think of you often, Melanie.
10:32 am on October 2nd, 2012
This Thursday YSAS will be the Dead Body. I will be watching and using the iPad to keep up with youse guys.
Hmm, photographer has the images right now. When I get them, I will share.

(first I posted this on last nights post…)
10:41 am on October 2nd, 2012
we are so glad that this month is beginning with some good news.
Macy – good for your Mom – we not only give you high fours, but there are five of us here, plus Mama, Dad and Gramp, so you get high 26’s!
Mary and Wolfie – whew! Very glad to hear that Gram is ok, and the homeward train is reserved.
Howlers – thanks for the story about the shed. We understand.
Melanie – lemons and various other citrus fruits
We propose a poetry chain on this here blog. One line to start, and then anyone can add a line. Ought to get interesting, if our past “add a line to the story” posts are anything to go by.
Maybe our Great and Powerful Professor Emeritus Bee could start us off?
10:44 am on October 2nd, 2012
Wolfie: I’m glad to hear the good news.
Thursday’s Elementary will be fun to watch!
Wookie: I haven’t watched Marigold Hotel yet but will let you know after I see it.
10:52 am on October 2nd, 2012
In the deep bowels of earth, shadows played upon the rocks.
(First line of the poem requested by T&G. This could be an allusion to Plato’s cave, or Dante’s Inferno, or even the scene in Harry Potter when Harry and Dumbledore go into the cave and find the locket…..Heh!)
11:03 am on October 2nd, 2012
By the way, please don’t have the poem rhyme…I couldn’t stand it.
11:18 am on October 2nd, 2012
Wolfie, I’m so glad to hear the good news from your mom about your gradma.
Melanie, you are always in my thoughts. Glad to hear the guys are coming up this weekend.
Kirby T, where you be?
11:19 am on October 2nd, 2012
Macy, I am happy for your mom!
11:32 am on October 2nd, 2012
If anyone wants to read Kirby T’s sestina, just type sestina in the search box on the blog. Spence posted it on October 2, 2010. It’s about Chet and Bernie.
11:41 am on October 2nd, 2012
Macy’s mom, we are happy that you got your ID back, along with your rep restored.
Wolfie, very good news about your grandmom. We know you will be overjoyed when your mom is back home.
Kirby, wherefore art thou????.
Staff, Netasha Tretheway is wonderful. We heard her on an NPR segment, and loved her. But no. She is not oir cousin. Our cousin was inaugurated as our COUNTY’s Poet Laureate. And here is the link:
http://readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=418201#.UGrP3mP0rmU.facebook
T&G, Mom has always said that she would know when it was time for Sasha, because she was sure Moonman would come for her. But now we are confused, because Sasha has been doing better since her hike.
12:32 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Ok Prof Bee – we want to play. But please no lower marks for misspellings:
“Lit by luminencent flickerings of myriad tiny forms”
12:33 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Howlers – your Mom will know. She can trust her heart.
12:36 pm on October 2nd, 2012
T&G: I love it! And no grading is taking place but, if it were, that line would warrant an A+.
12:46 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Aw gee – scuffing toe on the floor….
12:48 pm on October 2nd, 2012
The sprites aglow, attending to their tasks.
12:54 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Good afternoon all. Good news from Macy’s mom and Mary.
Melanie, If YSAS is allowed to speak to Gary Sinise on set, he should tell them that his cousin is Barb’s BFF. That is Kim who has helped with the move, and raises goats and chickens. Gary flies her dad (his uncle) out to Wash. DC and to the west coast several times a year. Kim says he is a really nice person, and not stuck up at all.
1:02 pm on October 2nd, 2012
That destination was some powerful good writing.
1:04 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Darn autocorrect.
Sestina. I typed sestina.
1:09 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Macy: Wonderful!
1:10 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Intently guarded, yet joyful
1:10 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Wolfie: I’m sorry but I’m laughing outloud! I was wondering what that first post meant.
1:11 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Wolfie: Excellent! (I’m writing these down.)
1:13 pm on October 2nd, 2012
“Untouched by minutiae beyond their bounds”
1:23 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Bee, just out of curiosity, what is the punishment for rhyming poetry in Stovernia?
And there pies involved?
(does anyone see where I am headed with this?)
1:38 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Wolfie: It must be the Post-Modernist in me, but rhyming becomes tedious. And no pies for rhyming.
1:57 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Phooey.
2:10 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Gooey.
Just testing the no-pies premise. 🙂
2:14 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Hey, Everyone!
Everything seems okay
If only for a day
And, if not that long
At least for now.
minimum rhyming, heh
(not a part of the
excellent poem, but
trying for some pie)
2:21 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Absolutely no pie for rhyming.
2:50 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Would you bake us a cake?
3:00 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Baseball! What’s on tap for today? Cream or fruit pies?
3:05 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Okay….How about chocolate cream pie and yellow cake with chocolate frosting.
3:06 pm on October 2nd, 2012
My Phillies almost kept the Nationals out!
I would prefer chocolate cream pie.
3:07 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Be it chocolate or fake?
Frosted in style, with icing of white
Shining aglow in soft candlelight.
3:09 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Oh yellow cake with chocolate frosting is Mom’s favorite!
3:10 pm on October 2nd, 2012
SOMEBODY STOP ME!!
FROM ILLEGAL RHYMING POET TREE!!!
3:12 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Whew. That was scary. Anyway, we need to plan the Dead Body Party. We will bring….Bloody Marys.
That sounds appropriately gruesome, me thinks.
3:19 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Wolfie: Actually that was a nice description.
3:21 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Food for the dead? Hows about we bring some dead critters with us?
3:28 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Ah Now you are talking Siber language.
3:29 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Wolfie: Excellent choice of beverages for the Big Party (a very nice description by the way)
Wonderful to hear your mom’s mom is getting better every day.
B: We will have chocolate cream pie with whipped cream on top.
3:34 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Loving the poem. Wish I had enough brain to contribute. I am testing Raven’s iPaw. Very interesting. I can see why paws have a hard time typing with it.
Barb, I’ll let YSAS know, but the extras are not allowed to talk to the Principals unless spoken to first. They can get thrown off the lot. Most are very nice and will talk with the extras.
3:56 pm on October 2nd, 2012
“Dancing to the music of crystalline drops
Rolling gently from chandeliered pendulums of stone”
Can we have some pie now?
4:19 pm on October 2nd, 2012
I will bring boot rear floats and pipes that blow bubbles.
4:19 pm on October 2nd, 2012
“They saw their shapes in dark and light,
Come together in the bowels of the earth.”
T&G: Come and get it.
4:25 pm on October 2nd, 2012
TechnoKat Duct taped an old computer together yesterday. Do not ask how it was done as it is unlikely the process can be repeated.
We will not attempt to add to the poem. One here knows only how to rhyme and the other seems to have depleted the majority of brain cells hooking up wires.
What to bring to the party? Ditto..See above.
B&M: The way we see it you know Gary Sinese by association, or as Riö would say, by degrees of separation.
4:32 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Poetry is completely out of Barb’s area of expertise. She can calculate percentages and interest rates in her head, but poetry? That would be a big NO! Must be that left brain, right brain thing.
Barb now has recovered all parts of her camera, batteries and cord, so may try to post a project picture or two later.
Melanie, I know you have said before that the extras are not supposed to talk to the regulars. That seems a little like the caste system to us, but what the hey!
4:37 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Masquers, Kim and Gary were born 1 day apart so their moms were in the hospital together. Two Sinises. Kim says Gary used to put on stage production in their garage when he was a kid. He started Steppenwolfe Theater with two other Chicago actors, and she and her husband used to go all the time.
4:39 pm on October 2nd, 2012
I don’t think one can “type” (using all fingers) on an iPad; you have to punch with one finger.
4:43 pm on October 2nd, 2012
I love Gary Sinise. His Of Mice and Men was brilliant.
Masquers: Go ahead and write rhymes to the poem. (Warning: I may change the rhyming words when I write them down.)
4:44 pm on October 2nd, 2012
We have seven lines to the poem. We need more.
5:48 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Bee, none of us howlers has any left-brain function.
Siber, how do you like your fuzzbutts cooked (or not)?
5:52 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Fellow Sibers, We could cook them on the grill, or not.
5:53 pm on October 2nd, 2012
B: Just out of “curiosity” how many more? (treading softly here…on little kat’s paws)
What was that line from AFOC again?
5:57 pm on October 2nd, 2012
or maybe from A Cat Was Involved…..
6:12 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Bee, so did the line about the cake get written down?
6:16 pm on October 2nd, 2012
The way I see it, a bunch of well lit sprites are eating artificial pastries in Middle Earth.
Hmmmm…..I am unable to determine if there are any giraffes present, per the discussion of recent.
6:21 pm on October 2nd, 2012
In the deep bowels of earth, shadows played upon the rocks,
Lit by luminescent flickerings of myriad tiny forms,
The sprites aglow, attending to their tasks
Intently guarded yet joyful.
Untouched by minutiae beyond their bounds,
Dancing to the music of crystalline drops
Rolling gently from chandeliered pendulums of stone,
They saw their shapes in dark and light
Course together in the bowels of the earth.
We have one stanza. Anything more?
6:23 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Wolfie: Cake is not involved.
6:38 pm on October 2nd, 2012
That is just beyond us! Wow is all we can say.
Bad news for those of youse who wanted pictures of Barb’s home projects. She took pictures, and now has discovered that she does not have the right cord for the camera in order to down load the photos. We are getting closer.
6:43 pm on October 2nd, 2012
‘And, the pug burped,’doesn’t really have a home in the current poem. Maybe I will save it for later.
6:43 pm on October 2nd, 2012
MagPie – Does Barb have an SD card in her camera? If so, that just fits in an SD card slot in the computer – no cord needed.
6:46 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Barb, I passed your message along to YSAS. He said to tell your friend to have her cousin get I touch with him. Then he laughed quietly because he is syii on set.
Love the first stanza. Who’d a thunk it?
6:48 pm on October 2nd, 2012
In the deep indigo of the sky light sparkled upon the clouds
6:57 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Yay! Staff is going to play….
“Stars dancing the same patterns to the music of the aurora”
7:11 pm on October 2nd, 2012
I like it Staff and T&G.
7:26 pm on October 2nd, 2012
MPM, There is a card in the camera, but not sure where it goes into the computer. We may just go buy a new cord at a camera store.
7:31 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Barb: On my laptop the camera card slot is on the front edge.
7:48 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Youse guys are just plain talented. But Wolfie has us cracking up but good!
Middle Earth! Artificial pastries. Wolfie, you are really “on” tonight. We can tell you are feeling relieved for your mom.
Dinner time here…Pop is still working so Mom just got done in the barn. It is still ugly, rainy, foggy, dark. Hey! Maybe that is a line for your light-filled poem.
7:55 pm on October 2nd, 2012
“Still beauty in the rain and foggy dark.”
8:07 pm on October 2nd, 2012
“Awaiting the arrival of the autumn moon”
8:19 pm on October 2nd, 2012
The light of gathering harvest’s gold.
8:38 pm on October 2nd, 2012
The final dance before winter’s sleep
8:55 pm on October 2nd, 2012
When indigo turns to slate.
(The second seven-line stanza.)
9:11 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Dawn edging toward the promise of the rising sun
9:33 pm on October 2nd, 2012
I’ve written down T&G’s first line of the third stanza but I’m tired so will continue tomorrow.
9:35 pm on October 2nd, 2012
County!…. or Country – it’s all a really good thing…snort!…I was mistakenly thinking that the Howlers Cousin was the COUNTRIES famous poet, but no matter. Still a big huge honking deal in my opinion…heh!….And look! Youse guys are creating something very dark and ominous that might become lighter soon…sniff!…I hope.
9:37 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Poetry!…I knew this would be a good poetry day!…heh!…I just knew it! I guess some of us have graduated from Haikus..snort!
9:38 pm on October 2nd, 2012
(Slight edit)
I think T&G’s line about dawn should be the next to the last and BStover’s about Indigo turning to slate should be the last one.
9:52 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Staff: Indigo turning to slate is describing “winter’s sleep” in the second to last line. We’re getting dawn in the third stanza.
10:00 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Line!…Maybe?.. ”Rising, rising like the Phoenix bringing forth a new day.” …wheeze!…I won’t be offended if you do not use it…heh!burp!….This is all beyond my haiku abilities..sniff!
10:05 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Rebecca!…I actually like the line you almost submitted…heh!heh!…snort!
10:07 pm on October 2nd, 2012
I like it Rio and I’m writing it down. But now I’m turning off the computer. You all continue and I’ll get the lines tomorrow.
10:07 pm on October 2nd, 2012
SiberH!…Are you awake? Is this the last game of the season?…sob!sob!sob!…Our world is falling apart at the seams these days…wuffle!sob!
10:09 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Stover!…I go back and forth on the wording of “the Phoenix” or “a Phoenix”…sniff!…We will leave that up to you!you!you! to decide…heh!…goodnight!
10:13 pm on October 2nd, 2012
this is what I have so far…
In the deep bowels of earth, shadows played upon the rocks.
Lit by luminescent flickerings of myriad tiny forms
The sprites aglow, attending to their tasks
Intently guarded, yet joyful
Untouched by minutiae beyond their bounds
Dancing to the music of crystalline drops
Rolling gently from chandeliered pendulums of stone
They saw their shapes in dark and light,
Course together in the bowels of the earth
In the deep indigo of the sky light sparkled upon the clouds
Stars dancing the same patterns to the music of the aurora
Still beauty in the rain and foggy dark
Awaiting the arrival of the autumn moon
The light of gathering harvest’s gold
The final dance before winter’s sleep
Dawn edging toward the promise of the rising sun
When indigo turns to slate
10:15 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Rio: I wanted to officially submit my line but didn’t for fear my pie might be taken away.
10:15 pm on October 2nd, 2012
I haven’t been able to contribute, so sorry. I wish I could. I have read some lovely lines. So good night.
10:18 pm on October 2nd, 2012
OOPS,
refresh THEN read…
10:20 pm on October 2nd, 2012
I’d better go to bed. Dawson checked in. She is sleeping with her young grand daughter tonight. I guess she (the GD) is a wiggler.
goodnight all.
10:20 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Grump!….burp!
10:21 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Rebecca!…Keep trying maybe Staff will Refresh one day and include it…huffle!
10:24 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Is there a poetic word for burp?
10:27 pm on October 2nd, 2012
I have to get up early tomorrow and drive to the peninsula for work. I am staying at the hotel in anchorage that has jetted bathtubs with deep ends. Gurgle!
10:27 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Rebecca!…Use this one maybe….snort!…”The air rushed forth as the Phoenix rose.”….grunt!
10:28 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Rebecca!…Awww shucks! Does this mean you are leaving us here very early, like now?…wuffle!
10:44 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Rio, I’m awake!! I don’t if this is the last game of the season, but I can feel a dark curtain falling over us soon, very soon.
SOB, SOB, SOB

Sob!Sob!Sob!Sob!….well, sniffle, at least we have Wookies team to root for during the play-offs…wuffle!…sob!

OMD
The last Rockies game of the season is tomorrow.
They will not lose 100 games this season, but they came sooo close to that number. sniff, sniff, sniff
10:53 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Tomorrow!…At least my friend and i will be able to watch baseball on the night before her shortie vacation starts…heh!…Someone has to get up really early tomorrow so she can leave the busy-place early and take her mother to the ole bus station…grunt!…Baffles me why anyone would want to take a long bus ride to Iowa…sniff!
10:56 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Rio: I’m here as long as you are here.
10:58 pm on October 2nd, 2012
That bus ride is going to be hard on a senior citizen. Mom did it for fun when she was younger, but she wouldn’t do it now.
11:02 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Maybe someone will put the poem together tomorrow. It looks like a pretty darn good poem.
We are going to sleep now.
Night All
11:03 pm on October 2nd, 2012
SiberH!…I’ve over-heard my friend trying to talk her out of going alone and waiting till Spring when maybe she could go with her mother…sniff!…But her mother is insistant about this trip to see her great granddaughter while she is a wee pup…sniff!…I know my friend and even Beau and I will worry and wonder how she is doing all those long hours on a bus…grunt!…Flying was out of the question if thats a question on yer tongue….sigh!
11:11 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Gone!…Well, i’m told we have to listen to the end of the game on the radio upstairs…snort!…She has to get up really early so she can leave the screwed-place early and take you-know-who you-know-where…grump!…So my short time with my friend is pretty much over tonight. Maybe she will let me sleep on the big-bed with her without Beau knowing…heh!heh!…Thats the secret plan now! Once his paws are straight up in the air, he will never know I am on the big-bed…Yes!…goodnight all!
11:12 pm on October 2nd, 2012
Rio: I hope your friend’s mom will be safe and enjoy her trip. I also hope your friend enjoys her alone time.
12:48 am on October 3rd, 2012
I like the poem but I really think the line about the fake cake would be perfect in the middle of the second verse.
I’m just saying.
