I had Zoë out in the play yard with me and the dogs. We were reading and chatting. She had wanted to vacuum the pool and do this and that, but I said it was time to rest.
It was great.
Have not heard for YSAS. Hopefully he is still sleeping.
GLAD was putting up screen shots of the video games she played as a child. She wrote something like I played this in middle school. I wrote on her post, I played jacks in middle school. Snicker

Dawson used to sit on the front steps with the neighbor girl and play a card game called Spit. She was deadly at it. It involved speed and cunning. I never did get very good at it.

I am cleaning out a very messy closet and came across a New Yorker article I saved from the March 27 1989 magazine. The great american Pie Expedition by Sue Hubbell. Fun to read. That was about one week after I married Mr.Staff and I must have thought I needed to know pies if I was going to live on a farm.
Recipes are included. If you have a New Yorker subscription it is on their online archive.

Hi everyone. We are checking in quickly between thunderstorms. The rain is perfect. There is enough so the ground is getting good and wet, but it isn’t coming in torrents so that it just runs off into the street.
Little Gilly seems to be doing better. She has had two small meals of plain rice and does not seem to be in any distress.
She is also high as a kite with the pain pills the v- e-t gave her. It’s very funny – if there is a noise outside she goes running to bark at it, but it is very half hearted- and then she plops over on her side and goes back to sleep. Sage still won’t let her out of his sight.
And now – another thunderstorm cometh. Back under the bed we go!

Drought!…No wonder we’ve been so hot!hot!hot! all spring and summer so far…sniff!…Although today seems rather cool in the high 90’s….wheeze!

We are back. Left for Wisconsin to deliver chicks and hens. Nothing going on this morning on the blog, so we are now catching up.
Glad Little Gilly is better today. We were worried.
Barb says she remembers opening golf balls and using the little hard ball that was in the center as a jacks ball.
Looks like we are getting an interest rate of 2.675 or better for our mortgage loan rate. Unbelievable!
Really liked the opening ceremony last night. Loved seeing the parade of athletes. The giant baby was a bit strange tho.

Our Gus has a sore on his side; he is on antibiotics to bring the swelling down and then surgery on Tuesday. He is an unhappy puppy.Claudie’s blood sugar is still high. They sent a blood test in to check for something.
We are enjoying the Chinese teenagers. There are 8 girls staying with 4 families and so we all take turns ferrying them around. All the girls are in Fresno and mom is meeting them later for a movie. Ice Age in 3D!
I am keeping the quilt dwellers in my prayers also!

The giant baby was indeed strange – and more than just a tad creepy.
Seem to have circling thunderstorms here. It will all be quiet, then it all starts up again. Poor Callie is a nervous wreck. Tupper is being very clingy. Gilly is just looking up at the sky, going, ” wow man – look at the pretty colors” – then she goes back to sleep.

Question!….My friend has a question for youse guys who buy stuff from the Snowhook Boutique….sniff!…Because she has a very hard time pricing her little twirled paper things, she is wondering how it would work if after the Items are put out on the shelves the person who wants the Item will email Rebecca and say I want the “Owl” and I will make a donation of $$$’s to Snowhook for it instead of paying a “set” price. Now if Rebecca gets 2 emails and one of them wants to donate 10.00 and the other one wants to donate 15.00, then Rebecca has the authority to decide who will get the twirled paper item…heh!heh!…Let me know what you think about this please…wuffle!

Penguins are perfect. Pricing is hard but having to choose between “donations” is hard for the buyer. In an auction one knows how much to go up to get what you want but not if you are just to email what you are willing to pay and hope for the best outcome. Hmmmm….pondering.

Idea!…I guess my friend is only suggesting this because it seems like more than one person usually wants some twirled paper, so having them “donate” or “bid” for the item seems to make sense….snort!…This may become too time intensive for Rebecca though. She is the one who would have to keep track of everything….grunt!…Unless someone comes up with another bright idea, we will just go back to trying to price her items…((((sigh))))

Rio: The suggested price would be similar to a starting bid. You could also give a deadline for “bidding” on the item…say one week. Perhaps Rebecca could put the buyer’s bid on the item in the boutique. If a new buyer wanted to pay more than the current “bid”, he/she would let Rebecca know. After the deadline is up Rebecca could let the highest bidder know.

Auction!…Hmmm, as part of Auction Central, I know how much work this becomes especially if there are several items (and there are) and many people are bidding (and there will be)….snort!…I won’t get into detail why, but Rebecca would need Auction Central to control this. Especially because she has two full-time jobs. The Kennel being one then the other thing she does all day, whatever that is…grunt!
Maximise!… I am just trying to figure out a way to maximise the earnings that the Store can generate for the Kennel and the A-Team…sniff!…You guys have to help though. We need more donations. Those Items Mollys Mom put up are excellant examples of things that would sell quickly at the Store, or next Auction…heh!

Dog, the Pack is in TROUBLE. Zoe was fixing their dinner and left the dog stew in the sink to do something for Dan. She got back and the pan was out of the sink. Stew everywhere. Rose was trying to get everyone in trouble, but Zoë saw that all of them downstairs had stew on their noses. Except Patsy. She and I were taking a nap.

Oh my, the Newfies can really make a mess. And just think, Barb was “miffed” cuz I stole a measly stick of butter off the counter and ate it. She said it was her last stick, plus she was worried about me greasing my insides, but never fear, it all worked out OK.
We agree that Rio’s friend does not charge enough for her works. I like the idea of a starting price, or suggested price. Could someone then bid more if they wanted to?

Rio! I absolutely love your friend’s penquins! She does not charge enough for her art. From your posts, we know she puts a lot of time, work, and effort into her projects. Every item is beautifully framed, and packed extremely well.

Hello Everybody. None of us could post today, because Mom my and Daddy were off paintingtheir local office and believe it or not, Mommy had our iPaw in her big purse.
It was a nice, relaxing day today for Buddy and me. All the Howlers except Sasha were outside waiting for Them to return. We spent all day watching out the window at a horse who got loose and kept wandering around insifpde the barn. Of course it was Annie (who else?).
Now the storms have moved back in, so all of the Howlers plus Mommy and Daddy are indoors woth me me me.

Heard from YSAS around 5:30 or so. He had just gotten up. He went to work as a bootlegger unloading crates from boats. He started at 5:30 pm and ended at 6:30 am. He is taking Sunday and Monday off.
