    Yes I am,

    Sam I am

    Later to bed

    early to rise

    Makes for a puppy

    Happy and wise!

Actually, the only reason I'm up so early is so that I can nab some breakfast before mom and dad go to work. Otherwise, me and Teddy only get kibble. (shudder)

We get to stay inside today because it't cold outside. As soon as the worker bees leave, I'm going to take a long nap!

    How are you today?

Maybe next year Chet and Bernie will be up for an award too!

Ha ha, can you imagine Chet in a tuxedo? He'd have to get some fashion tips from Wookie! I wonder if Bernie would insist on wearing a hawaiian shirt?

PA is probably nervous about tonight, so we'll let him slide. I wonder if he has butterflies in his tummy? Did somebody say butterflies? Hey!

Oh. Mom says that these aren't the kind of butterflies that I can chase. Rats.

    Wolfie!! Good morning!

Dawson, where in the midwest? They are having some weird weather out there in different parts.

Riö, maybe PA is hitting the Bloody Marys?

I found a Hawaiian suit for Bernie to wear next year when the Little Dectective Agency wins all . . .

Snow! We saw some out west place on TV that got 2 feet of snow. What's up with that?

I'm in Buffalo and it's warm and sunny. Temps will be in the 70's all weekend.

  19. Melanie
    5:56 am on April 29th, 2010

Sam, we're going to have a great weekend too. Considering yesterday we had snow, today we have 45 miles an hour gusts, we deserve it!

Sorry about your hair cut. But you are probably a more active dog than Princess and willing to go outside and play. That would mean sticks and burrs in your "do".

I'm here with Mom at the ski resort which is now a golf resort. Here's a pic Mom just took that shows the snowy ski trail above what is now the golf course.

The snow gets cleared off the golf course, but stays on the ski trails for a long time. Kids are still using the half pipe, walking up and skiing or boarding down, while the golfers are playing below. Funny!

I'm in Minnesota at Mom and Dad's. Grew up here. Was just out to weed the garden but the sky is turning black and thunderstorms are in air. I see my sister has left 5 PA books here – I doubt she read them as she likes lighter fare. I keep trying to ignore them but Oblivion is calling my name.

Sam, no that is not me. Though I think Bernie might be able to sell the pants if he goes ahead and invests in the Hawaiian suit coats!

Siber-H. and Riö: I have also read Oblivion. I liked it.

(aside to SH) What was it about again?

I found a website that says The nominees and winners of the Edgar Awards. Still only nominees though. Hopefully some of you night owls will find out who the winners are.

I found the website you mentioned, Melanie. I wonder how long it will take them to get the winners up on it. It may take them awhile as I suspect they will be full of food and drink, but they could surprise me. You and I are definately not the night owls on this blog. I may not know till I get back from the dog park in the morning. I did a few laps for Peter around the park this morning. That might help. I hope

Mom found another book she wants to win–the one about Bonnie and Clyde.

The Detroit Tigers are catching up to the Twins! Possibly due to a recurring case of turf-toe that benched JJHardy of the Twins. These are the interesting things you learn when you read the sports page which I have recently been doing after years of ignoring that section of the paper.

One of the good books I got today is Barron's Compass Guide to Dogs. It has wonderful descriptions. For the Newfoundlanders: This is a very lovable, calm and adaptable dog. It is neither ferocious nor nippy. Unfortunately it salivates a lot. Suitable for the beginners.

  132. dawson

Hey Mops: (That's what the book says is another name for Pugs.)

History: The Pug became noticeable in Europe starting in the 17th century. Ever since then it has been hopping and snuffling (and skipping) happily through our homes as an ideal indoor dog. It's fan club is constantly on the increase. (I'll say)

Character: This dog can be calm, and also very energetic and lively. Playful, friendly, and intelligent, it is easy to train.

Living Conditions: This dog does not smell or salivate. For a long time people thought it was lazy, dumb, and fat, but those opinions were quickly put to rest. (That sentence makes no sense to me – either a long time or quickly put to rest – not both) With conscientious care, this dog is a champ.

    Appropriate for: Beginners

    (My remarks are in parenthesis)

    4:08 pm on April 30th, 2010

Siber H.: (I was just reading your description)

History: This is one of the Nordic dogs that is not very common in many areas. Its passion is to be harnessed to a sled as part of a team and pull it through the falling snow. The Husky comes from Siberia and reached us by way of Alaska

Character: This dog is loving and even-tempered with its family, and friendly with strangers. It learns quickly, but doesn't obey reliably. It has a strong drive for hunting and adventure.

Living Conditions: The yard has to be breakout proof. This breed absolutely needs activity and a chance to run: wagon and sled races, running alongside a bicycle, and jogging – and every day!

    Appropriate for: Experienced owners

My mom is one of the ones that is best at telling people what difficult, stubborn, untrainable dogs we are. She just wants for the adoption to "stick" and not have the dog returned. It's the total truth Rio–only if they have never had a husky before. If they get through hearing all the bad things, then they have to fill out the application, and have a home check. We also check for a reference with their vet clinic, and we do follow up home visits.
