Good morning, HOH and all. It feels like Spring here, as compared to previous days.
What in the world is the blue paper and ribbons about? Oh…shopping and/or wrapping, huh?
There are already some things in our stocking!!!

    Greetings!

All under the quilt, my love and good thoughts to you all.

RIO! I am sorry that your friend got caught in that T@rget hassle. Sucks!

Luna, I was a little misty eyed when you spoke of how the Giant and your Lady found you.

    Doing lots of laundry. BBL!

HOH, Youse are right. It is a song written by Willie Nelson. A lovely version by Roy Orbison on YouTube.

I knew that was from a song but don’t want to hear it or I’ll be humming it all day. (Spence leaves his holiday shopping about as late as I do.)

    Good morning all.

Whew, that drive just wipes me out.
Prayers are needed for Ros. Zoë had to rush to vet. Some sort of blockage.

I’ll be on later to answer the questions from last night. Resting now.

But this is an answer for Riö. NOT politically correct, but then it is Monty Python. Snicker.

    Happy shopping and wrapping Spence.

Best thoughts today for Zoe and Ros.

We like snow, but today we are getting sloppy, freezing rain. Will make driving a mess.

We liked Melanie’s answer to Rio’s question much better than ours. Very funny. Not politically correct? Maybe mildly so, but nothing like Phil Robertson’s interview for GQ. Bee, before you ask, he is the patriarch from Duck Dynasty.

  14. Masquers

Heard from Zoë. Appears to be a mass in her abdomen. Doesn’t appear to cancer. A S p e c i a l I s t might be in tomorrow. If he is we will be taking her there.

She is over eighty in Newf years. Too old for an extended operation. This would be hard on a young four legged.

I love Flash Mobs for the most part.
I think the Plunderers should have a Flash Mob at the Hobbitt House. I can picture it . . Kats singing, pugs with harmonicas, Kat with a sax, and every one howling in delight.

Until then, catch this Flash Mob at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

Fern had X-Rays today, and it turns out that Mom alone was right. She is not sick and it is not her leg. Her hip is dislocated. That can be put back in place without surgery within the first 24 hours. Remember their nighttime trip to that emergency v-e-t far away? Grrrrrr That vet never diagnosed a dislocated hip, but acted like it was a vitamin or mineral deficiency.

“We had a funny thing happen here last night.. we were watching tv and heard a loud noise. Dave asks What was that, a moose on the porch? I just kind of laughed as he got up to check it out. He says there is a moose on the porch. I didn’t get too excited and he says come here there is a moose on the porch. I get up to look and sure enough there is a big cow moose on our back porch munching on some dead plants. We tried to get pictures, but it was too dark.”

And HOH, they really are not quacks, at least most are not. Sometimes they are much better than an M.D., especially when it comes to things like slip and falls, stress headaches, car accident whiplash, etc. We don’t think that muscle relaxants, pain killers etc. work as well for that type of injury.

Daddy Dawg brought home a (real) ham today for Christmas dinner. Interesting since mom hasn’t eaten pork or beef in 40 years. She doesn’t even like it cooking in the house as the smell is nauseating to her. Wonder what he is planning? Mom says no wrapping around here, the water heater is already in and working.

Barb lucked out when it comes to the Target problems. She doesn’t shop there very often, but she stopped in about 3 weeks ago. She was about to give the clerk her credit card when she remembered that she had a Target gift card in her wallet. It turned out that it had enough balance remaining for her entire purchase. They said 1 in 7 shoppers may have credit card problems.

Also, there is a new Laura Levine book coming out on New Year’s Eve for those of you who have enjoyed her prior books. I think this one is called Killing Cupid.

Howdy folks, late again as usual. Hope all what’s under the quilt are doing OK under the quilt. Wishing y’all a merry Christmas coming up. Got a card from … Someone. … From here. … Thanks 🙂

We’re all looking forward to our very traditional Christmas smoked brisket. Mmmmm. What do you mean that’s not traditional?! It should be if it ain’t. We order it from near Austin…my ol’ home town. They don’t know what brisket is up here, you ask for that and they’d look at you like you had two heads. And cookies came today from the best cookie place in town. Who could ask for more?

    Anyway. See y’all tomorrow.

I have eaten at half of those places in Anchorage and am looking forward to experiencing the other half. But first I have to lose some of my extra weight gain (25 lbs in the last 6 months alone).

Gah! Sadie’s UTI evidently has returned and there is blood again in her urine. This is very recent (late this afternoon). Her urine sample from yesterday showed a wee bit of bacteria but no crystals or blood–and I hadn’t noticed any in her urine. The vet had reported that she could be re-introduced to her regular food. She hates her special kibble so I had been mixing in a bit of baked chicken (sorry Fern) or turkey so that she would eat. I guess I will find out tomorrow if she is to go back on antibiotics. I leave again for California Jan 3-13. Gah!

Sadie is also opting to live in my car in the garage including sleeping there the last two nights. The house is too hot for her (70-72 degrees). I know that she was outside a lot in North Pole so I might need to look into a dog house or something. I do keep the house warmer than I used to as I am ironically cold here in Anchorage due to the increased humidity). I miss interacting with her. Phoo-ey.

AbbieTheKitty: I have an electric throw that I use in the evenings. I think the trouble is that my living room has a cathedral ceiling so all the heat is on the ceiling. There is a fan but I am not sure that even AJ is tall enough to reverse the fan to counter-clockwise in order to push the heat down. However, I do have his phone number so I might text him to stop by when he is in Anchorage. Hmmmm.

Also my windows have so much condensation on them which is a sign of heat loss. The seller had put them in before the house sold so I need to track down the window company and have them come out and re-seal the windows. I have been taking photos of the moisture and ice (Gah!) Don’t worry future visitors: the downstairs is quite warm and my master bedroom is warm. It is just the living area that is cool.

Macy! Yes! I left Austin about 16 years ago, but lots of good BBQ around there. The best place I think I’ve ever been though is Louie Mueller’s which I think is kind of outside Taylor. Also, yeah, I know about the sausage war between South Side and Meyers…gotta say, I really like the Meyers sausage. Especially this jalapeno and cheese sausage I have here. Have heard of some good places around Lockhart, but haven’t been to any of them. Oooh….it’s all good though…they don’t know what BBQ is up here in Erie.

Stay warm up there in Alaska. Hope Sadie gets to feeling better.
