“Why not” Admin says.
“Finished Paw and Order last night,” says Spence. “I’ve got a million things to do.”
“Fair enough. Mind telling me the last line?”
“No reason why not,” Spence says. “It’s: I got sleepy.”

Instead of the first lines . . we get the last! I don’t care! I know that last line from “Paw and Order”.
On my way down the hill through the snow that isn’t supposed to be here until tomorrow.
Shaking head . .

Good morning, everyone! We enjoyed catching up on last night’s posts after we went to dream land (till 2:30 when we wanted mom to chase us around the yard, bring us in and give us cookies…do we have hehr trained or what?) Our favorite part of the comments was probably Dawson’s, “The bllind leadinf the…not blind”. That girl has a way with sarcasm 🙂
Hopefully during this festive season all will be safe and productive and have fun- filled Friday (the 13th).
10:01 am on December 13th, 2013
Good morning all. Will be here briefly before taking off for the north shore (about 40 miles away). Barb is doing her friend helping thing today so will be gone most of the day.
We have figured out that IE is our browser, but don’t know if it is IE11. Betting it is, since this was all new and set up for us at Office Depot in October. That is probably our picture problem, according to what Rio said last night.
10:01 am on December 13th, 2013
Greetings!
Friday the 13th! YEEP!
Grizz is off to the doctor to get some Eyester scooped out of his forehead. Ouch!
A large amount of snow is predicted for tonight into tomorrow. That means everyone is running to the supermarket to wipe out the stock as if it is the end of the world. When you live in the Hudson Valley, snow is not something new. Why are people so afraid of snow?
Good day to all!
10:19 am on December 13th, 2013
Good morning all! Happy Friday the 13th!
It is very cold here yet, but nice and sunny so it’s all good. Mom decided it was not worth having Dima mad at her to put that goofy fleece thing on him. It doesn’t go back far enough to cover his shaved area anyways.
Wose, around here, we think everyone makes French toast every time it snows. They all run out for milk, bread, and eggs. Fortunately for us, we make our own bread, and our chickens lay our eggs. We do, however, have to get over to the farm next to us to get our milk.
Barb, thanks for answering our question about the chicken coop on a frigid day. Today is not one of those, but we were wondering in case we actually get that cold a day. No worries, though. Our chickies now know how to keep warm…they have been shopping…pic to come.

Friday the 13th. Who’s a scaredy=kat? Not moi!
And, what a treat, a preview of Paw & Order. Thanks, Spence.
Have a good day all.
10:29 am on December 13th, 2013
Howler: Some well dressed chicks. snicker.
10:30 am on December 13th, 2013
Howlers, Your coop is large and you have much more square footage per bird than we did. You would be fine leaving the door shut if it is super cold. We had 192 sq. ft. with 26-28 birds, so we were more concerned about making sure they had fresh air.
Cute sweaters up above. How is Fern doing?
10:37 am on December 13th, 2013
Fine looking chick fashion!
My bad. Not just that the pug is cursed. IE is cursed. We use Chrome, so maybe IE IS the problem.
In “Chicken Run” I seem to remember one hen knitting all the time. Perhaps she was making sweaters for her friends.
10:45 am on December 13th, 2013
Way to go Spence!
Good morning all.
10:59 am on December 13th, 2013
Macy: IE is always the problem.
11:08 am on December 13th, 2013
We use an old version of IE on the big computer. But mostly we use Safari on the iPaw.
If our chicks want sweaters, I will donate mine.
Fern still cannot put weight on her right leg. This is so sad. Mom wants her to be with her flock more than anything, yet how can she, in this condition?
11:12 am on December 13th, 2013
Woo Hoo !!!!! Mom is not ever going back to that faraway office, ever again. Well, at least not until next year, which must be a very long time from now. She is working in our upstairs office today, and she told me she won’t even be doing that after today. She will be playing with ME ME ME for the rest of the year !!!! Hip Hip Hooray!
11:23 am on December 13th, 2013
Maybe you can make Fern a splint with a toothpick. Just using my degree in Chicken Orthopedics.
11:26 am on December 13th, 2013
O’Howlers: French toast! snicker. A lot of that seems to be made up in my little town as well. Love the chick fashion. Macy is right, in the film CHICKEN RUN there was always one chicken knitting. Hmmmmmm.
I am mighty impressed with how quickly OFA completes his maubuscripts. If I were to write a novel, it would take me six months just to come up with a title. I know, I have tried.
Kat: Whoooooohooooooo!
I wonder how our Pixie is doing.
I can’t help but smile every time I see our FOTM, Teddy! : )
11:28 am on December 13th, 2013
Macy, we were actually wondering if they could fashion some sort of splint.
Wose, What is an eyester?
11:41 am on December 13th, 2013
In the news:
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA — A woman survived nearly three nights in bitter interior Alaska cold by burning her snowmobile and huddling with her small dog, Alaska State Troopers said Thursday
Megan Peters, spokeswoman for the troopers, said the dog likely helped Mayo preserve her body heat.
“It really did help save her life,” Peters said. “Elvis is a little hero.”
11:47 am on December 13th, 2013
If that would have happened to me when I am on The Giant’s team, it is he would be keeping MOI warm.
I do not like the cold. Oh no I do not.
I may be a Husky, but I was not born in Siberia.
11:49 am on December 13th, 2013
And speaking of IE…isn’t it “i before e, except after c, or when sounded like a as in neighbor and weigh”. Maybe that is the foto problem?
Cute chick fashions.
11:50 am on December 13th, 2013
BlueKat check your SDD.
Did I mention yesterday that I received another donation for the Shake your Booty fund? I can’t remember. Here is a picture anyway (from my chrome browser)
The total has reached 125. We have a long way to go folks. When we go over 250 I will send a potholder to the person who puts us over. Heh. My choice of design although I will consider special requests.
So I went to look at my list of Plunderers yesterday evening and I only had page ONE! Yikes. The second page and the 2 names on the last page are gone gone gone. Luckily I had printed them out but damn it all!
Congratulations on finishing the book Spence. I feel sleepy here too but have a ‘date’ for lunch with the Teddy Bears. BBL

11:53 am on December 13th, 2013
So I hope to have some emails when I get back from lunch. heh heh heh. I have chicken material left. And garden vegetable material. yeep

Nothing to be afraid of Folks…Just move on…Tomorrow is another day (NOT the 13th).
Staff: We Here hear your call, but alas must wait ’til After the Howl-a-Days.
Cute booties on your Poster Dawg!
Wose: Sending Pawsitive thoughts for Grizz today.
12:09 pm on December 13th, 2013
Heh, heh. Kat, you are beginning to sound like Sammie talking about her Girl.
12:21 pm on December 13th, 2013
BSD & Masquers, please tell NanaBarb that the MEOW hooks are in the mail. It was sent priority mail so it should be on the island Saturday or Monday, I think.
Still haven’t gotten an address from Rebecca for the Newbie who bought the blanket. Hopefully, Rebecca will have lots of money waiting for her when she gets back home.
LOVE Fridays! Always the best day of the week because it starts the weekend.

B&M: An Eyester is a joke between Grizz and I. During the 50’s a lot of cheesy , Japanese sci-fi flicks were being made. One of them was called THE MANSTER.
Grizz has very sensitive skin, and through the years has had several non-cancerous ( thank dog!) things removed from his forehead. This last one was directly in the middle of his forehead, and sort of looked like a third eye.
Bear: Thank you for the good thoughts.
12:40 pm on December 13th, 2013
HOH: Was that sarcasm? I thought I was just stating the facts. I come by my sarcasm naturally through my father who could be the King of Sarcasm whenever he wanted.
O’Howlers: Thank dog you have decided to let Dima be wild and free. He knew exactly how ridiculous that colorful fleece looked on him. What a look he gave you!
The chickens don’t seem quite as concerned about their coats.
No more work until next year! Enjoy!
BearSpiritDog: I like the Shakespeare quote. Today I will try to think good thoughts.
More snow. More shoveling on the agenda. My back and shoulders are groaning. It is -10 F (-23 C.) with a bit of a breeze. No sun today.
Big Christmas celebration dinner tonight with former workmates, all excellent cooks. Will be delish.
12:50 pm on December 13th, 2013
Done!…snort!…That was fast. I hope the book is longer than two chapters…sniff! …Maybe Spencer has improved his typing skills…heh!heh!
12:53 pm on December 13th, 2013
I think I finished reading Paw and Order already. I distinctly heard someone say “I got sleepy”. That was just before i fell asleep. yawn..stretch..
12:55 pm on December 13th, 2013
Dawson, Have fun and feel free to pig out. Tis the season.
Wose, thank you for the definition of Eyester. Makes sense.
Now time for Barb to take off for the far east. She doesn’t usually drive in heavy traffic, so she is allowing plenty of time. Google Map says 1 1/4 hour, but she is giving herself extra time so as to not get stressed.
Tonight she is ordering pizza from our favorite carryout place.
Have a great afternoon everyone.
1:00 pm on December 13th, 2013
Dawson: HRH B will be the final judge of the Shakespeare Quote.
Have a frolicking good time at your Christmas Feast. If you could give me the coordinates I can blurr in later to pick up Doggie Bags for the Plunderers.
1:00 pm on December 13th, 2013
Oh yeah…
Congratulations Spence!
1:00 pm on December 13th, 2013
Good morning, y’all!
And the fun continues.
How come they don’t make French toast with French bread? And how come it’s French, anyway?
Also, yep, uploading photos from IE11 be broke.
1:02 pm on December 13th, 2013
Great news top learn that Spence has finished Paw and Order!
He must be dealing with Holiday madness now.
Best of luck to Grizz today. I am sure it will all go well.
Did one of you send Buddy and Leno an SDD about toffee? They requested the info. I do not have his email address.
1:48 pm on December 13th, 2013
Buddy posted his email later last night. Should be on late pg 2 or early pg 3
2:08 pm on December 13th, 2013
Thanks Sharon. I got your SDD and sent you one because I have one last question.
2:15 pm on December 13th, 2013
About three years ago, mom started a tradition of send Christmas toffee to Plinderers near and far. It didn’t happen last year but we are back on track now! If you haven’t received toffee before, please email your snail mail address to aller@sti.net. Also, if you would like extra toffee, please let me know and send a donation to Snowhook. Macy is right, I may need some help with postage for anyone ordering more than one box! I’ll let you know via email if this is the case.
Dima, you are beautiful with or without a coat of many colors.
2:17 pm on December 13th, 2013
Dang otter correct. Plinderers my foot!
2:29 pm on December 13th, 2013
Thanks, Wolfie. Back atcha.
2:30 pm on December 13th, 2013
Wolfie’s mom showed up to explain everything! Thanks Wolfie’s mom!
Buddy, I sent you an email.
3:36 pm on December 13th, 2013
First, good luck to Grizz. The chickens will be styling. Wölfie, you are wonderful. Buddy, you and Leno are great.
3:41 pm on December 13th, 2013
Greetings from the wilds of Boston – land if the bean and the cod – and the one way streets and the “search and destroy” method of driving.
We are in our hotel, awaiting set up time at the show site. Most people will have to load in at 5am tomorrow. However, the producer has taken pity on us and sent us an SDD inviting us alone to set up tonight.
(Must have been that box of petit fours we sent to his office. Thanks, Swiss Colony. tee hee)
We took a picture of Callie in her fuzzy brown shawl.

3:47 pm on December 13th, 2013
Wow, Callie is styling! Looks Purrfect 🙂
3:49 pm on December 13th, 2013
My trip down the hill was “interesting” in a Chinese Curse sort of way.
Up here in the Hills it’s snowing. In fact by the time I got home we had 4 inches of new snow.
20 miles down the hill? Sunny.
I made my appointment for a fitting. The woman listened (not well) and figured – being a woman of a certain size – the “swelling” I had didn’t have to do with the tumor. Brought me back something in my size. I tried it on and agreed it fit but I couldn’t where it more than 15 minutes until I would tear it off and burn it.
Tried again. She fastened it in the back and I burst into tears. The pain was outrageous. THEN she got it. Found one that works. Going to try it for 3 days. If no pain she will order two more. My prescription is for three. Paperwork to be handled after the Holidays. In January I’ll know if it is covered. I hope so. Most expensive thing I’ve bought in years. Thank Dog for CCs. Even if it isn’t covered it is something I need.
The rest of the day I was in pain. Hit a few walls. Not literally. Finally back home.
3:54 pm on December 13th, 2013
Callie, the white and brown Newf!
B.Stover, Zoë loved the idea of the HP stamps. I got them as a stocking stuffer for her. BIG Thank You!
Time for a nap. See you there, BearSpiritDog.
3:58 pm on December 13th, 2013
Callie’s shawl looks lovely on her. She doesn’t seem to mind it.
I can hear the ravens calling for their breakfast.
Melanie: Thank dog the walls you hit were not literal. What is a CC? Hopes for a painless evening.
3:58 pm on December 13th, 2013
Callie: You have quite the Wardrobe. That old shawl has a whole new life thanks to the clever thinking on the Royal Mum’s part.
Happy to hear the “Bribe” worked and Golinka and the Storyteller will have an early set-up for a fabulously successful show.
Yes, Melanie, See you in Slumber Land.
4:23 pm on December 13th, 2013
Shooting!…At Arapahoe Highschool down where my and my friend used to live. I’m sure Spencer drove past this school when he was here during the flood…..sniffle!….My friend lived really close to Columbine HS when that whole thing happened way back when….wheeze!
4:24 pm on December 13th, 2013
Buddy!…Good job verifying that it is IE 11 causing the photo trouble….snort!
4:24 pm on December 13th, 2013
Callie looks absolutely stunning in her shawl!
Royal Mum: heh, heh, heh! Nice work.
Melanie: Take some time under the quilt.
Rebecca? Where in the world are you? Wherever you are, I hope you are drinking water.
4:27 pm on December 13th, 2013
RIO! Grizz and I just heard it on the news. I am glad you are nowhere near that place. Not to many details given right now. Will be watching the broadcast news.
Stay safe, my friend.
4:30 pm on December 13th, 2013
Rose!…Never fear, I am far far away from that place…snort
4:39 pm on December 13th, 2013

4:55 pm on December 13th, 2013
Grizz: hope everything has turned out A-OK

Melanie: take care of yourself
Staff: I’ve sent $20 to Snowhook for the bootie fund.
Spence: Congrats and thank you!

5:28 pm on December 13th, 2013
Thanks for the Emails. I shall be writing in about toffee. So, umm, yeah, umm, what is snowhook?
I see no one else knows why they don’t make French toast with French bread either.
5:32 pm on December 13th, 2013
Thanks for the Emails. I shall be writing in about toffee. So, umm, yeah, umm, what is snowhook?
I see no one else knows why they don’t make French toast with French bread either.Ah. OK. Now I think I get Snowhook. Sled dog racing. OK. And I even have an Email here from dawson. Very good. I’m all caught up now.

Buddy & Leno: Snowhook Kennels is the Alaskan kennel that we (the Chet the Dog Plunderers) support to run the Iditarod come March. We fund raise for them to buy dog food, booties, jackets, harnesses and such so they can run the Great Race.

Buddy&Leno: You can read about them at Snowhook Kennels Blog.

Bear, It was a stabbing after the Broncos game. Three people were stabbed. I think no one died, but I have not been around a tv much today.
I do not know why Colorado has all these bad things happen there. I love Colorado.
5:52 pm on December 13th, 2013
Callie looks stunning in her tastefully fuzzy shawl.
Melanie, Mom is wincing just imagining your pain.
I am so sorry that we here must take it easy on the Snowhook donations for now. Thanks to me and my special docs, our cc’s are all out of control. Mom’s end of year bonus does not come even close to covering them.
Barb, one of eggs froze we think!
5:55 pm on December 13th, 2013
Bear, Now they are saying that four people were stabbed and it was a traffic rage incident. (they think)
I can’t believe the Broncos lost that game to San Diego.
5:57 pm on December 13th, 2013
Staff had a fantabulous idea! The toffee donations will join the Shake Your Bootie fund, because if we eat enough toffee, it will stick around forever unless We shake our booties! A lot, ha ha ha!
5:59 pm on December 13th, 2013
Please no one stress about donations. The Plunderers are doing just fine as a group – doing the best we can and then some, I should say. Our hearts are in the right place and that’s what counts.
You guys are the best!
Oh yeah, Mollypop’s Mom: If you can get Pat LaFontaine to sponsor a dog or a checkpoint we will match it! Go get him!
6:18 pm on December 13th, 2013
Siber-H: A Sad state of affairs. We love Colorado too.
Thankful Rio and Beau were not anywhere in the vicinity.
Dawson: You are doing a Terrific Job! Thank you.
6:19 pm on December 13th, 2013
Whoop Whooo! Three new donations came in for the Shake your Booty fund. I will put up a really great booty picture but first…
YES! We have a winner of the first potholder. Sharon HOH
Sharon you have a choice of a chicken potholder or a garden veggie red and green potholder. The garden veggie one is tomatoes and basil and other red and green food items that I forget now.
Yippee! We have reached the grand total of 403.00. I think when we get to 500.00 there will be another potholder reward.

6:27 pm on December 13th, 2013
Melanie: I think Zoe will really like the stamps.
6:41 pm on December 13th, 2013

Barb is back. Had to drive home in rush hour in the dark which she doesn’t do well. Thank Dog it wasn’t snowing yet.
Still didn’t see what CCs are?
Will look over the checkpoints and see what we can do for the fund match.
Howlers, The eggs will freeze solid and split open if left out in the below freezing weather.
8:48 pm on December 13th, 2013
Riö, love The Philadelphia Story. It’s so nice to see you. I have been missing you because of hitting the hay early.
My sister is picking up Zoë at 7 am (uggg) and they are going to ordination of the Curate at their Church. I will be happily ensconced in my nice warm bed.
O’Howlers, I am so glad your mom will be at home for awhile! After looking at all the weather maps and trying to extrapolate from the best one, I think she is correct saying that two storms are going to hit and then smash in to PA, NJ, CT, NY and MA.
What fun.
They are calling for 4 to 14 inches of snow here. They like to cover all the bases.
8:48 pm on December 13th, 2013
RIO! I love THE PHILADELPHIA STORY! I also love the musical remake with Grace Kelly, HIGH SOCIETY. Have youse seen it?
Awesome Dawson : Please check your SDD when able.

Got our booth walls and tables set up, but no security on tonight so we still have to do all the inventory at the crack of freezing our buns off tomorrow morning.
Oh well – at least the Dunkin Donuts around the corner from our hotel opens at 5 am. Could not even THINK about creating pretty displays without kawfee first.
Good night all.
(Going to sleep with “shake shake shake – shake shake shake – your booty, shake your booty…..” thrumming through my head)
9:09 pm on December 13th, 2013
It is to snow 8-12″ up here. More shoveling in my future just when my neck and back was back in shape. At least the roads won’t be quite as slick.
Late last night I went to Rick’s Knife Shop website and ordered 2 things. This afternoon I got an email saying that my package will be posted tomorrow AND they are enclosing a little sample treat for Sadie. Yay! Is that good service or what?
9:11 pm on December 13th, 2013
Thank you Melanie. Would not have guessed that one.
T & G, Dunkin does have good coffee. We think better than the super expensive place. Good luck with the show tomorrow. And we like Callie’s coat.
Barb is pooped after 80 miles of driving in bad traffic and half of that in the dark. BBT.
9:12 pm on December 13th, 2013

9:20 pm on December 13th, 2013
Dawson, quick correction on the checkpoints. Wose and BooBear split the White Mountain checkpoint sponsorship. Wose was very sweet to split both the checkpoint and the Rio Jr sponsorship.
9:30 pm on December 13th, 2013

We watched “The Bishop’s Wife” the other night. It is mom’s favorite, but not dad’s, so we had to beg like dogs (ha) to get him to order it from Amazon prime, we could not find it on Netflix.
CHobbit, thanks for the shout out. Belle will be in charge of dropping off the packages to you and Someone Else first thing in the morning.

“God in his wisdom made the fly.
Then forgot to tell us why.”
Living in a 200 year old house has some interesting problems. Why would those really large flies – the ones that look like they are really slow, but aren’t – be bothering us when it’s freaking cold outside?
Inquiring minds want to know.
HOH, may tomorrow be a better day.
And on that thought, I’m outa here.

Buddy my personal opinion about french toast is that french bread has too many holes in it to hold the batter and the syrup. Give my a better batter holder for my french bread.
Just my humble opinion. I don’t really know for sure.

Staff, that’s as good an explanation as any, although it still begs the question…why is it French toast? Anyway, I’m generally not a fan. I prefer waffles or pancakes. With bacon. Or sausage. Or both. Or donuts. Yeah, donuts. Hmm, I’m hungry.

French?…Why are we talking about French toast?….grunt!
Late!…It is not late, but everyone seems to be Gone!Gone!Gone! Except Buddy and French toast….grunt! ….Anyways, my friend says we should go up to our warm soft beds because she has SOOOO much to do tomorrow…sniff!…Meaning “shopping”. Shopping for people she does not want to shop for. …gruffle!
Mother!…Although here is a twist. Let me tell you this strange story…..sniff!…After my friend blew-up after her mother wanted to throw 50.00 at her and be done with Christmas…grunt!…Her mother actually went out SHOPPING and bought all kinds of fun stuff for her little Great Grand Children and her Son and her Son’s Wife and…well, probably nothing for my friend. But the thing is she had FUN doing it. …snort!…She got out and about and did something for Christmas….wheeze!…Victory!
