“Why not?” says Spence.
“Because we’re out of town,” Admin says.
“But aren’t we in another town? A town with internet connections?”
Welcome Rio. And here he is:

Oh no, Rio is going to be jealous!
Good morning all.
Nice day here, should be mid 60’s by this afternoon.
Early start this morning, Barb is heading out to Fresh Market, then to p.t., then to the bike shop to pick up the Jackster. BBL
9:10 am on April 26th, 2013
Admin is being very grumpy.
Staff: Thank you for the link to book spine poetry. My favorite is the one that begins, “A Day at the Beach.”
Good morning all.
9:14 am on April 26th, 2013
Gooood morning everyone! No post? No direction? A free paw in our barking?
Wowser! Rio? Not Junior? Not the second? Trouble here in River City!
Book spine poetry? Is that why mom is going through the gazillion book shelves? (don’t know what that nuber is, but it must be a LOT)

9:34 am on April 26th, 2013
Although we did notice that Rio The Evil, Rio Junior and the new FOC Rio are all black…mmmm? We need to ponder that for meaning.
9:40 am on April 26th, 2013
(whispering) HOH, RTEP is not black.
9:50 am on April 26th, 2013
Oops, our bad, must be color impared! We beg forgiveness…quickly!

As regards cows and the posting over on Facebookie, Wookie actually was totally enchancted by cows. Whenever we would go up to Woodstock, Vt,, Billings Farm (which is now part of the National Park Service) would have cows in a fenced area right along the road where we would walk, and Wookie would nuzzle up to the cows through the fence and rub noses with them. He also did that when we encountered a pen of cows behind a quilt store we were visiting once. Although I do wonder if his penchant for ice cream and beef had anything to do with it.
The one time that Wookie met some baby pigs (at a farm market in rural Maryland), the effect was the same — they nuzzled noses through the fence and the piglets were as enchanted with Wookie as he was with them. Bacon, perhaps?
I am pleased to report, however, that when he encountered some baby goats at the same farm market, the reaction was different. He did not like them and they did not like him, not one little bit. Although Mr. Singh’s curried goat stew could be still be interesting.

Welcome to the really good looking Rio.
I’m looking at book spines.
Barb&Maggie: Thank goodness the sky has stopped leaking.
10:39 am on April 26th, 2013
Wow, Wookie was a very friendly and discriminating dog. Of course we already knew this but it is nice to see it in print.
Rio’s reaction was entirely predictable. snicker. Poor little beige pug.
Dawson is on the move. She is traveling tomorrow and has to pack her bag and her brain. Her brain is the hardest to pack.
Take-out Chinese for supper. One of the things we miss in North Dakota. No take-out Chinese in our little town.
10:45 am on April 26th, 2013
Dawson!…Is she leaving you all on your own again Staff?…grunt!
10:49 am on April 26th, 2013
The new Rio is a strange looking pug, handsome, but different looking than Senior and me.
10:51 am on April 26th, 2013
Junior, I think you and senior are both quite handsome. Especially when senior is in black tie.
10:54 am on April 26th, 2013
Belle Starr: What mail did you receive yesterday, something good I hope. Are you twirling or grumpy?
(whispering) Maybe if you kidnap me and hold me for ransom, I could live with you forever. Maybe Pancho and Lefty can give you some tips.
11:22 am on April 26th, 2013
Wookie’s Dad is making me laugh.
So is Dawson. (Sorry Rio.)
11:51 am on April 26th, 2013
Spence should have a break now and then.
There have been a couple of Rios come through Siberian Husky Rescue here. They were found close to the Rio Grande.
Also, There was a pretty good song back in the 1980’s called “Rio”, and a great music video for the song.
I enjoyed reading Wookie’s Dad’s story. Wookie knew that goats stink.
George Jones has gone to Rainbow Bridge. Maybe Spence will have an obit tomorrow. Spence and I may be the only ones on the blog who know who George Jones was.
11:51 am on April 26th, 2013
I checked on the package I sent to Rebecca, No news since they sent it to Iowa two days ago. There are lots of goats in Iowa and that worries me. I wonder if they are just holding it for ransom. AUGH!
12:00 pm on April 26th, 2013
Chinese take out sounds good to us – hot and sour soup…yum!
There are days when you’ve been hit by a truck
Be it pick-up or eighteen wheel.
But life goes on, and you get back up
No matter how “flattened” you feel.
My only question as I warily watch
That truck coming ’round again:
If I get run over, time after time
How come I’m not really thin?
12:46 pm on April 26th, 2013
Siber H: We know George Jones!
Rio: We can never apologize enough (and we know you won’t let us forget). We had pug cousins: Samson & Delilah. HE was black, she beige, hence our possible confusion.
Dawson: Safe trip home.
1:08 pm on April 26th, 2013
Dawson is going to Chi Town with our brother the Turtleman. It is a lightning fast trip for a memorial for our brother Chris who died last spring. They hoped to get together with Barb and Maggie but the timing didn’t work out. Dawson is a little stressed over this trip. She is in charge of the snacks. Pondering.
1:34 pm on April 26th, 2013
Of course we know who George is. Doesn’t everyone? We even know Tammy W. who sang “Stand by Your Man” about George. Of course she didn’t stand by him forever.
Dawson, wish we were meeting up. Sorry it didn’t work out, we certainly tried!

Barb is Miffed! First she was repremanded a week ago for telling Lyla that she was not Catholic. Barb told her that people have different beliefs and she doesn’t go to the Catholic church. She was told by DIL that that was probably comfusion to the almost 7 year old.
Now she was scolded for having the news on for 20 minutes while Lyla was here. They mentioned Boston and Martin Richards, the little 8 year old boy. Lyla evidently is not allowed to see the news. Barb told her when she asked, that most people are good, but these two men were bad and that they set bombs that killed 3 people and injured many more. Barb was told she is not to have the news on when she is free babysitting, because it is traumatic and might cause nightmares. Give me a freakin break!
1:45 pm on April 26th, 2013
At Dawson’s request…

Barb, Trying to keep children from knowing about reality is hard on them when they get older. As you know.
1:46 pm on April 26th, 2013
Snacks! Dawson, we here at the kennel recommend slim Jims, fish heads and chicken skins.
1:51 pm on April 26th, 2013
What the Dog Saw is one we haven’t read. Is it a good one?
2:17 pm on April 26th, 2013
Read a review on above mentioned book. Not what we thought, think we may pass on that one.
2:51 pm on April 26th, 2013
I don’t know who George Jones was.
Staff and Dawson: LOL!
3:07 pm on April 26th, 2013
We told mom about our fake paw of this morning and she said, “Boy do ya’ll have egg on your faces!” We looked and smelled and checked again and again, but couldn’t find the egg. It would be a good thing, wouldn’t it?
3:10 pm on April 26th, 2013
Where are Masquers and Bear?
3:16 pm on April 26th, 2013
Heh, heh, heh . .

Sounds like fun. Need a passport?
3:26 pm on April 26th, 2013
Here is a photo for Mr.Husky from Denali Park in AK.
3:26 pm on April 26th, 2013
We here know George Jones and Tammy Wynette too.
T&G, what is wrong?
Maggie, hug Barb. If were were in her shoes, we would be more than a little miffed. Children will always hear about the news. It is best that they hear it from their family members who can explain it rationally as Barb is doing.
3:55 pm on April 26th, 2013
Barb, let’s see . . You are watching her children for free. If she did not want them to watch the news she should have told you when she started using you as a babysitter. Not give you carpola about it afterward. My worry? Does she believe that by not talking about this her children are not going to hear about it? It is better for children to hear from loved ones in a safe manner then listen to their peers that might have it all wrong.
4:01 pm on April 26th, 2013
So before I got on my soapbox . .
Been outside for most of the day. Did some cleaning in the garage, got a pallet out and washed.
I will be putting my poor strawberries into the lettuce gutter to keep them relatively save from what ever is eating them just as they get completely ripe. The lettuce will be going into the pallet. I am going to make a wall of lettuce and whatever else I can think about putting in there.
Next up is New Tricks and trying to tell my allergies to calm down. The dust wasn’t that bad, oh allergies mine. Yeah, right.
4:15 pm on April 26th, 2013
One of my favorite songs – My Elusive Dream – with Tammy Wynette. It’s on my iPod and iPhone.
Good news about Sam’s Girl. She interviewed for a summer internship with Sen. Chuck Shumer and Rep. Brian Higgins. They both want her. Right now she’s trying to see if she can do both.
4:52 pm on April 26th, 2013
My goodness, but Sam’s girl sure is a dynamo! Do you think Sammie will like living in the White House and being First Dog?
Mama just got back from visiting with the Storyteller. He had a whole stack of cards to open and read. Every single one of them was wonderful, and Mama is all misty about how youse guys are just the bestest.
In physical therapy today, they started working with just a cane instead of a walker. The Storyteller wasn’t thrilled with that – its not that he can’t do it, but he said that he has had a cane for 4 years, and now he just wants to WALK. Yup – we think he is well on his way to being able to walk on the beach with us this September.
We are enjoying the book spine poetry too. Mama is taking a good long look at her bookshelves, but she wants to know if paperbacks count.
5:25 pm on April 26th, 2013
Tell Storyteller he needs to do the cane for a bit. Barb did the same, walker first, then cane, then nothing. He doesn’t want to take a chance of falling and undoing some of that repair work.
Melanie, Thanks for the comments. That is what Barb thinks too. You can not totally isolate kids from bad news, nor should you. I don’t believe they should be plunked down in front of the tube and be overwhelmed with graphic reports, but this was 15-20 minutes of news. Barb was in absolute shock to think that Lyla hadn’t heard anything about the bombing. Ben’s first grade class discussed it, and as you said, in terms they can understand.
5:32 pm on April 26th, 2013
It’s clear why Wookie didn’t like the goats – they were baby Marauders.
6:02 pm on April 26th, 2013
Staff. Thank You! That is a beautiful picture. Look at all that snow. It looks like whipped cream.
Mom doesn’t know anything about raising kids but she agrees with Melanie. Kids have to learn to live in the real world, brutal though it may be at times.
Congratulations to Sam’s girl! That will be a good experience for her.

Now trying to catch up with everything.

Glad you’re back Masquers.
Beautiful picture staff.
7:13 pm on April 26th, 2013
We began the back deck entertainment season this year with a visit from Yuji’s friend Pebbles. Pebbles strongly identifies with Yuji for some reason.
7:17 pm on April 26th, 2013
Here Yuji, here Pebbles…good doggies. Mama’s floors need dusting.
7:24 pm on April 26th, 2013
MPM: Wow! Sammie’s girl,is gonna take the world by storm!
7:29 pm on April 26th, 2013
Sammie, I have been looking at your picture from last night all day. You look totally adorable! My favorite picture of you will always be the one of you running like the wind in your college girl sweater with your girl at college.
7:49 pm on April 26th, 2013
Wookie shows good taste.
Yuji and Pebbles look fierce! They should not be used as dusters.
From the looks of things around here it does not look like Sping. But try to tell the Spring Peepers that. You can heare the song under the rush of the river. The main river is further downstream.

Wose, I had so much fun at college that day. I was running and happy, just to be with my girl was so special. Mommy says she’s coming home tomorrow and this time she’s bringing a boy. What’s that all about?
8:24 pm on April 26th, 2013
Melanie: The video was so Relaxing with Sounds of Water and Nature. Only wished it was Longer.
Sammie: You must be so, so Proud of Your Girl!
Our Favorite Photo is you in your college sweater checking in with her on the first day.
Wose: The one you liked is a close second.

Nighty noodles.

We are really mad at Mom right now. We told her to go and get a card for the Storyteller. He was such wonderful support during Dad’s surgery and recovery. But she had a really tough week at work with lots of drama (Mom HATES drama at work) and didn’t get a card but we’ll get one this weekend. He’ll just get ours later than the others.
Sammie, the buzz,um,haircut doesn’t look THAT bad. Is this the shortest your hair has ever been?
9:05 pm on April 26th, 2013
Gus and BooBear – Do NOT, we repeat do NOT fret about cards, as in when or if. Around here, we absolutely understand how drama (pronounced DRAM – a) gets in the way of life. The Storyteller knows for sure how the support of each and every Plunderer has held him up during some tough days, and he appreciates all the prayers and good wishes that have already been sent.
That said, he is very happy to have a beautiful eagle flying over his bed, and he got a BIG laugh out of going to Dog Obedience School – HEAL! tee hee….
9:06 pm on April 26th, 2013
Sammie – don’t listen to Gus and BooBear – you look ridiculous!
(Hey – we’re Kats. Its our JOB to harass dogs!)

Whoo hoo. Mom just got custody of the laptop pos back. She now has to share with the boarder in the basement AND the Old Fart whose new, state of the fart, touch screen, do-it-all-for-you computer went GAH/belly up/doa.
Sure do miss a lot in 6 hours but at least the HOH hasn’t stuck its paw in its mouth in a while.
Peaceful video, but looks cold 🙁 70 here today,b-b-q in screen room for company tonight.

10:32 pm on April 26th, 2013
Fire!….Someone is going to have to start a fire under our offense…sniff!…The score is tied and no effort was made to rectify this situation during the last at-bats….grunt!
10:43 pm on April 26th, 2013
Good luck Rio and Mr.Husky. We too have droopy eyes. Dawson is leaving for the weekend and I have packing to do tomorrow. Nothing has been packed so far.
Alice is waiting for food. She likes to lay near the laptop where the fan blows out the hot air. I am sure it is bad for the ‘puter.
Nighty noodle except for Liz. Good day Liz.
10:43 pm on April 26th, 2013

Tulo doesn’t make that many errors.

10:59 pm on April 26th, 2013
Riö, thanks for saying the commercial was for B of A. I was then able to find it on youtube. Benny is cute! Things that weren’t caught . .
Benny has no white on his chest. The puppy does. They do not grow out of that. The puppy’s milk chin is okay, but that is a small puppy to be taken away from his mom. Unless, of course, that pup is not a Newf. Maybe it’s a very small, spaniel headed, no coat Newf?
Love Bennie though. Reminds me of why we call our males duffuses.

11:26 pm on April 26th, 2013
Rio, I missed the giant woman. I must have been in the kitchen.
Gilly, Those look like good books.
The Rockies can win this one. There is now no excuse for not winning this game. They are ahead. GO ROCKIES!!!
We are sleepy.

Hello! This post couldn’t be written any better! Reading through this post reminds me of
my previous room mate! He always kept talking about this.
I will forward this post to him. Fairly certain he will have a good read.
Thank you for sharing!
