Reprieve!!! The dog groomer was running so late yesterday that there was no time for us to get tortured…ummm, make that “get our nails clipped”. So we never, ever have to worry about that again. Although Mama did say we are going for a ride tomorrow. Wonder where we are going.

Masquers, Poor trail conditions could be part of the reason he scratched, but I am guessing it is because he was down to 9 dogs so early in the race. There are more difficult elevations to climb in the Quest than there are in the Iditarod.

About the YQ…it seems this is a whole different kind of race.
We are worried about the trail conditions for the Iditarod. It is coming up very soon.
Maybe the East Coast could divert their anticipated blizzard to the north.

just thinking…Another reason mushers can scratch like LM did is when a gut virus goes through the team. This does happen and the dogs recover and are fine, but they are out of the race for their own welfare.

There are two mushers that have left Dawson City (Hugh Neff and Allan Moore) and three more (Jake Berkowitz, Brent Sass and Scott Smith) that can leave today…the rest have to finish their 40 hour layovers and won’t be leaving before tomorrow. I like Scott Smith because is a rookie keeping up with the veterans on the Quest.

At the end Hugh says to the man holding the papers that he signs as he leaves…

I wonder why there are some who don’t like Lance. He has never done anything that I can see that makes him disliked. He has always been a good musher and good to his dogs. Yes he won a lot of races, but he is a good loser when he doesn’t win. I hope he and his dogs are OK. Hugh Neff sounded sort of serious.

It has been a sparktacular birthday! I started by hogging my Two-legged’s side of the bed until she saw reason to spoon me. I got early morning tummies. To celebrate the day of my birth, Annabelle splorted early in the morning. I curled on top of my Two-legged’s pillow while she was cleaning the splort. My most special, best friend Wose sent me an e-card.
My Two-Legged and the Giant stayed up late last night putting gold bond powder in booties. They made a mess. The Giant picked up the bootie order—thanks to Team Shake your Bootie—yesterday. Drop bags are due on Wednesday and vet checks are on Tuesday. All this race preparation is taking away from my belly rubs, but I guess everyone has to sacrifice.

Rio, She says she just didn’t care about the characters. It has very little plot. You know how Stover is about grammar…mom is that way about geography. An author doesn’t have to tell her where the story takes place, but mom at leasts likes to be able to guess it. She could never figure that out in The Road, as I am sure that was the author’s intentiions Mom says she should have known she wouldn’t like it because Ophra Winfrey loved it.
Boring is a good word to describe mom’s opinion of The Road.
We realize we are in the minority with this review of the book.

Mom says that Astronaut ice cream is like little balls of dried up cotton candy, but that is just one person’s opinion.
You may remember that I mentioned on Sunday that a certain bee-och *coughbellecough* bit me. Well, today I went to the v-e-t for my yearly, and instead she shaved my BACK. Turns out that I have two quarter-inch deep puncture wounds, and they are 1/2 inch in diameter. Have any of you ever had to deal with something like this? It hurts like h-e double hockey sticks. The doc said that since I can’t turn my head 190 degrees I can skip the cone of shame. I MUST LICK THIS. It is driving me nuts. It is oozing all the time and I am a bloody mess, and mom keeps trying to clean me and I am about ready to bite someone myself.

The front is starting to come through. Snow about six hours early. Light though. Had to get up to give Patsy a pain pill. Should I read? Or turn off the iPaw? Hmm, methinks I should not bring the iPaw to bed.

Ok, so TECHNICALLY I started the rumble, but She was coming after my dinner. I have a dainty little mouth and it takes me longer to eat than it does for the chugpugpig.
My doc said something confusing today. She said that I could have been seriously injured if I was not such a chunky monkey. That had better not mean what it sounds like she said.
