I’d say Admin wants to be in the Keys also.
Good morning all.

Hi, B!
SNOW AT LAST! It looks very pretty here in Westchester county this morning.
Prof’s birthday today. It should be against the law to work on your birthday. Card, present, and ice cream cake have to wait for tonight.
Good day to all!
9:19 am on January 16th, 2013
Good morning and adios. Barb is on her way to be poked and prodded at the doctor’s office. BBL
9:36 am on January 16th, 2013
I’m with you Rose. I always took my birthday off – even when I was teaching! Very important to celebrate YOUR day! What are you and the Prof doing to celebrate later? G-rated activities only reported of course.
9:45 am on January 16th, 2013
Good luck, Barb!
Wookie’s Mom: Since the Prof is not only working, but has PT, we won’t be home until about 7 tonight. Carvel ice-cream cake, a small present, and a card for tonight. On Saturday, I am taking Prof out to Benjamin’s Steakhouse in White Plains for a very yummy steak dinner.
9:46 am on January 16th, 2013
Wookie’s Mom: I think even if your birthday falls on a weekend, you still should take a day off from work! :^)

The Keys . . . whoops, sorry, started dreaming there.
Snow. We have a forecast of 2 to 4 inches. We have 5 now and more on the way.
The Stockade looks much better. Fluffy white makes a great cover up.
Days off . . I was looking at Day Spas in the area. Sooooo, I’m not paying $150 for someone to wrap me up in glop. I have plenty of glop here. I get wrapped up in it for free.
I wouldn’t mind a bathtub that is more than a 3/4 bath. Not sure why they took out a great bathtub and but that thing in.
10:19 am on January 16th, 2013
One more thing before I have to go and clean the kitchen.
Best bathtub I ever owned . . Cast iron full size deep claw footed bathtub. Heaven.

Rio! What about Pop-Tarts?
10:58 am on January 16th, 2013
Snow? Wish we had that. All we got was a (very) little slush, and more rain. 🙁

Wose, Can we come up and help you and the Prof eat that there ice cream cake?
Melanie, here is the one Mom will be soaking in later…
11:22 am on January 16th, 2013
Good Morning All!
I’m glad Spence is enjoying some fun time while he is in Florida.
Wose, I am happy for you. You got snow!
Fellow Sibers? Is that bathtub where you guys got de-skunked?
I would not get in that bathtub for all the bacon in the world, but mom likes it.
11:23 am on January 16th, 2013
I would love to be in the Keys.
OleyHowlers: That is the bathtub of my dreams and with a window! Lovely.
11:24 am on January 16th, 2013
Macy, Please do not be away from us for too long. I will miss you.
11:30 am on January 16th, 2013
Siber: FAT CHANCE they could ever get any of us into that tub! Also FAT CHANCE Mom would allow it if they could.
She loves that tub. We don’t know why.
Macy, why are you leaving us? We love your great links and your really great jokes.
11:35 am on January 16th, 2013
Rose: Happy Birthday to the Professor! I hope he has an easy day at work.
12:01 pm on January 16th, 2013
OHs, cake is being served at 6:30. Come on down!!!
That is a beautiful bathtub your mom has!!!!
Thanks, Dawson. I hope he has an easier time at PT!! :^)
12:31 pm on January 16th, 2013
OleyHowlers, How far is it to your place? Please figure in snow and ice time delays.
The tub is beautiful.
Back from taking Katie to the groomer. Don’t worry, she’s not have a bath. She is getting brushed. It appears some imp has caused her hair to multiply in the millions.
Roads are interesting. We had snow. Then when I went out we were having frozen rain, now it’s snow again. I did find out that the Element has a sound and picture when the car is sliding.
12:32 pm on January 16th, 2013
Happy Birthday to my friend the Prof!!! (whispering) I’ll see you later for ice cream.
12:33 pm on January 16th, 2013
Speaking of PT, Rose, Zoë has the same range of motion and strength in the broken wrist as she does in the not broken wrist. They were impressed. She liked the fact that her arthritis is better with the immobilization. She said I should try a cast. I told her that wearing a cast on my hips probably wouldn’t be a good thing.
12:40 pm on January 16th, 2013
Melanie, that trip takes 5 weeks in good weather. I know. I did it.
Mom says only 6 hours, but what does she know.
Good news on Zoe’s wrist.
Wose, I will just blur there at 6:30!

Kat and Masquers, can’t wait to see you later. Youse guys may have to help the Prof blow out his candles!!
Belle Starr, Luna, and Sammie: Are youse guys coming too? It’s Carvel ice cream cake….
1:09 pm on January 16th, 2013
Melanie, that’s pretty impressive. Whne the Prof fractured his wrist, he wore a cast for 8 weeks, and has been going to physical therapy for a while now. He is just beginning to get the strength and range of motion back…enough to play his beloved guitar.
1:15 pm on January 16th, 2013
O.Howlers: Someone here is loving the old style cast iron tub. It is reminding her of the ones Gram had when Nana was a girl. Perfect for soaking away the cares of the day.
Wose: I’ll be thinking of you and the Prof eating that yummy Steak Dinner on Saturday. Hope his birth-day goes smoothly today.
Rio: Thanks for posting the Giant’s Snack List. Frozen Snickers…yum!
Macy: Is that right? Will you be heading North with the Small Dog Team? It is understandable that, with your short legs, it will take a while.
Good for Zoe! She is the bravest of the Brave.

Am I invited to a birthday party with ice cream? I’m ready!
1:29 pm on January 16th, 2013
Macy, does your Mom need the Smoochers? We can be there. Everyone likes my cuddles because I’m so soft and fluffy.
1:33 pm on January 16th, 2013
Sammie!..How can you be fluffy if all your hair has been shorn like a sheep?…snort!
1:43 pm on January 16th, 2013
Rio, my hair grows and then Jacqueline shears me. At this very moment I am very fluffy. I had better watch out next week.
1:59 pm on January 16th, 2013
Back from being poked and prodded. Physical, blood work, pee test, and EKG. Now Barb needs a nappy.
Oley’s mom, the tub is beautiful. Also love the deep set window in that beautiful shade of antique red. You need to add a couple of candles and a glass of wine when you go on for the long soak. Pure heaven!
We don’t want Macy to go away. She is funny!
2:33 pm on January 16th, 2013
What a lovely bathtub.
2:33 pm on January 16th, 2013
Barb, glad you are finished with the poke/prod. That is never pleasant and just helps get you stressed about the coming event.
There are candles on the window sill nowadays and also on that cabinet you can see to the right. And when Mom is soaking, there is always either a hot chocolate or a glass of wine, depending on her “needs”. heh heh

3:11 pm on January 16th, 2013
Question…there are different kinds of Nature Valley Granola Bars…which kind does the Giant prefer?
3:14 pm on January 16th, 2013
Peanut butter, Oats & Honey, Oats & Dark Chocolate or ????
3:19 pm on January 16th, 2013
Bear!…Do you really think our Giant is a picky eater?…heh!
3:19 pm on January 16th, 2013
Poptarts have enjoyed the status of being a dietary staple in our house from time to time, yet they don’t hold up well on the trail. AJ said all you end up with is a package of crumbs.
Rose: Count Luna and Belle Starr in for cake. Happy birthday to the Professor!
Sammie: That is a good question! Macy just say the word and the Smoochers can dispatch to your mom. If the Professor doesn’t mind, we might be able to snag some cake for her, too.
3:24 pm on January 16th, 2013
Rio: Just wondering if he has a Fav…SnowBella?

Happy Birthday and Happy Cake to the Prof!
4:36 pm on January 16th, 2013
I wonder if the giant likes Salted Nut Rolls? There are cases of 20 of them on sale at the store right now. And, they are gluten free. No chocolate though. Protein and salt are good for long distance endurance…
4:51 pm on January 16th, 2013
Staff!…My guess is YES!…snort!
4:51 pm on January 16th, 2013
Sammie, of course you are invited for cake. You are a Smoocher!
4:55 pm on January 16th, 2013
Thanks everone for the birthday wishes for the Prof. I will show him when we get home.
Rio! You made me laugh out loud with your pug tarts/farts!
5:14 pm on January 16th, 2013
O o o oooooooo Wose Carvel Ice Cream. When I was growing up in Pleasantville we used to go to the Carvel ice creams hop across from the drive in movie theatre. THE original store. Nothing better than a Carvel cone with jimmies. Tell the prof to enjoy his week-long birthday celebration. You are the Best!
5:22 pm on January 16th, 2013
Salted Nut Rolls! My favorite! Wait…those are for the Giant.
5:32 pm on January 16th, 2013
Mom is busy looking at properties to rent in the Outer Banks where they can take us! Probably just a pipe dream…
6:43 pm on January 16th, 2013
That Carvel ice cream and the salted nut rolls both sound delish.
Here Barb is having baked fish, salad and rice. Wish we could finish up with those two items mentioned above. Yummers!
Sorry to be so lame, but who do we notify for the food donations? Bee or Rio, or is someone else fielding the emails?
6:59 pm on January 16th, 2013
Not sure who the FOC is on our right, but he looks like a possible Chet look-a-like. He is German Shepherd looking with a black face, and his comment is “I got your back Chet”. Could be a Belgian Shepherd too.
7:04 pm on January 16th, 2013
Barb: Send the amount that you spend on food donations to Rio.
7:32 pm on January 16th, 2013
Wookie’s Mom: Wow, I did not know there was a drive-in in Pleasantville! Do you recall where it was located?
7:34 pm on January 16th, 2013
Hi everyone.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PROF! (Mama and Dad met the Prof – he doesn’t look old enough to have birthdays)
Nothing interesting is happening here. Except the deer that keep coming into the back yard. The other day, when Dad took us out for our last piddle of the night, there was a BIG deer standing right outside our back door. We don’t mind having deer in the yard, so Gramp went and got some salt licks and put them on the trees out back.
Only problem is now we bug the folks to let us out constantly so we can see if there are any deer to herd.
7:34 pm on January 16th, 2013
Hands, whiskers, and paws have all been licked clean of ice- cream cake. I love how Masquers can wipe his mouth and whiskers with a swipe of his tongue. My boy Kelly used to do that.
7:37 pm on January 16th, 2013
T&G, the Prof thanks you for the compliment! (Whispering). He is 56 today.
7:41 pm on January 16th, 2013
The Smoochers all have ice cream cake to go. Luna has the piece for Macy’s mom.

Cold!…So even though it warmed up some today my friend is still very cold…sniff!…This is because the stupid-ass-busy-place has the air blowing on everyone…grump!…Not warm air but cold air. So when she gets home at night she is chilled to the bones…wuffle!…I am downstairs with her right now. A blanket and a floor heater are doing their best to warm her up…sneeze!…

Rebecca, would it be better to send cash or food? I’m thinking that some things are cheaper here than in Alaska, so you may get more bang for your buck, so to speak. I haven’t sent my check yet…..
9:46 pm on January 16th, 2013
Hissing and Spitting is going on around here.
Mama says we weren’t supposed to say anything, but she just can’t seem to get over her mad, so we thought if we told you all, it might give her a release valve.
Our Dad is going thru some medical stuff to deal with some really, really bad back pain. The doctor’s office just never seems to call when they say they will, and things keep getting put off, and meanwhile Dad is in more and more pain.
Today the doctor’s office finally called and said they had him scheduled for the end of February – even though he was supposed to be treated in Nov, then in Dec, and then in Jan. Dad put his foot down and said NO! The office said they would do what they could. They called back and scheduled him for this month.
Then the office person said “I thought Indians were supposed to be stoic.”
Dad is a nice guy. He just got off the phone.
Mama is not such a nice person.
She called the woman back and said “I always thought that educated people in public relations jobs were smart enough not to make racist comments. Guess we BOTH learned something today.”
She is still just hissing and spitting. Dad says not to make anything more out of it – he doesn’t want the doctor to get p o’d. But really! Would that office person EVER have said such a thing about an African American, or an Asian American?
Hissing and spitting
(sorry – we’ll stop now)
10:01 pm on January 16th, 2013
Happy birthday, Prof!! Sounds like you had a great party. We have never had Carvel ice cream. Here in Texas NOTHING beats Blue Bell or Baskin Robbins.
Hope all is okay with Macy’s Mom! OHs, love the tub.
We have never found anything cool on the curb!!
10:07 pm on January 16th, 2013
We’d be hissing mad too, T&G! Not only racist, but it minimized the importance of his pain and need for treatment. We’d report her to the doctor after you get in to see him.
10:08 pm on January 16th, 2013
Golinka!…Here is your own Bob…snuffle!…For those times and people you just can’t take anymore!…grunt!

Bob got cleaned up for my delicate ears, but I already am angry about this stuff!
10:15 pm on January 16th, 2013
Mad!….Here is a really mad Bob…gruff!
10:16 pm on January 16th, 2013
Cannot ever get over the stupidity of people. Why do people say things like that? And maybe the doctor should be told.
We are very tired tonight and will say nighty pasta. Till tomorrow.
10:22 pm on January 16th, 2013
Golinka: AJ is like the Storyteller to a degree. “Let it go, Bella,” he says. “It’s not that big of a deal,” he cautions to which I respond, “Trust me. Some day you will appreciate my righteous indignation.” I should not he is not like this all the time–he doesnt’ get his nickname for nothing.
10:24 pm on January 16th, 2013
Golinka: Just say the word. We haven’t tasted pant leg for quite some time. We wouldn’t say no to a strategically placed lift of the bag leg either.
10:26 pm on January 16th, 2013
Back not bag! Gah!
Staff: We are to tell you it is our Lady, not our Giant that considers Nut Rolls a delicacy. She says not to hold AJ’s deliquent tastebuds against him; even AJ has his flaws.
10:29 pm on January 16th, 2013
Amalia here – those naughty Kats have been banished to their(warm, snuggly, soft)beds (with Kitty Krunchies tucked into the corners)
They shouldn’t have been telling tails. But I will admit, I feel much better for their having gotten it off their furry little chests. And your support has been appreciated and is making me laugh.
I don’t think the office person even realized that her comment was racist. Maybe tonight, when she is telling someone about the crazy lady who called her back, and thinks about what was said, she will get it.
But in the meantime, I love the soapbox angry Bob! Sorry for causing your sensitive little ears to blush Princess Sam.
Bella – I think a certain A.J. and I could swap some tales.
tee hee
10:33 pm on January 16th, 2013
Golinka: We didn’t know you and AJ had tails? Are they nice and sleek like our tails or fluffy like Luna’s? Either way, I bet they’re fierce like MollyPop’s tail.
10:52 pm on January 16th, 2013
Pancho and Lefty – fluffy. Very definitely fluffy.
10:58 pm on January 16th, 2013
Tail swaping is not something we recommend. We never did locate the velcro on Charlie’s tail. Without the benefit of velcro or other some quick release mechanism, tail swaping looks to be a very involved process and somewhat painful. Keep what the good Lord gave you whether it be fluffy, sleek or fierce.
11:01 pm on January 16th, 2013
Rio: Does your friend need to borrow my mama’s mushing parka to keep her warm? Or, Aj’s is even bigger and better. Sometimes when it is frigid outside (and inside, my Giant and mama will sleep in the living room. Many a time, AJ has covered my mama in his parka to make sure she is warm.
11:13 pm on January 16th, 2013
Parka!….I think someone here has finally warmed up just in time to go to bed…grunt!…But if the Parka can get her out of that stupid-busy-place, then we will need to borrow it…snuffle!
11:21 pm on January 16th, 2013
There is a very funny Native story about dogs and tails.
Seems that the Dogs were all getting very tired of the Kats pushing them around and getting away with murder. So, they called a big meeting of all dogs to get together and figure out a way to control the Kats
All the Dogs in the world came to the big teepee for the meeting. But no matter how hard they tried, they just could not all fit inside. Coyote came wandering along, and he was rather put out, because the Dogs hadn’t invited him. But, he decided to be helpful, and came up with an idea. He told all the Dogs to take off their tails and hang them up outside. Sure enough, when the Dogs did that, they were all able to come inside.
The Dogs started with making speeches about how great they were, how brave and loyal and smart. Coyote was sitting outside the teepee and could hear all the speeches. He thought, “We’ll just see how ‘brave’ those Dogs are”. He poked his head into the teepee and yelled, “Lookout! The Kats are coming!”
All the Dogs went running out of the teepee. They grabbed their tails as they came out, but a lot of the Dogs grabbed the wrong tails. Some were running so fast, they just forgot about their tails completely.
That is why, to this very day, when two Dogs meet, they sniff each other’s tail – they want to make sure they don’t have each other’s tail by mistake.
And this also explains why Dogs chase Kats. They are still mad at them for making them lose their tails.
This explains why Kats laugh at Dogs too.

Mom is in a major funk, even I don’t want to be around her.
1:18 am on January 17th, 2013
Macy: That sounds like a two slice-of-cake-funk. Lucky for you, the Professor was generous and gave us a few slices for the road. In any event, get your mom under the quilt.
