No Post Today

Why not? Spence is airborne, on his way to Houston. He’ll be at Murder By The Book – a great store – tonight at 6:30. Maybe he’ll read the boxing scene from A Fistful of Collars.

Welcome Truffles and family, Roxy & Spencer.

Good morning, y’all! Mom finally brought FOC home last night, so now I actually know what the boxing scene is! Still reading, though…

We have to go back and read Rio’s post from last night.

Just read Rio’s sad story from last night. How awful for his family. You never know when something freakish like that will happen, so a reminder to enjoy each day to the fullest.

I still haven’t read last night’s Riö story. Hope I can get to it before I go to the eye doc.

Barb: This is from my cousin Barb! Labradoodle? The Labradoodle dog breed has a personality and temperament that is intelligent, level-headed, intelligent, and cheerful. This combination of traits makes Labradoodles outstanding service and therapy dogs, as well as terrific family companions. Yeah, I just threw that out there right off the top of my head. Hehehe. Sounds like a sweet curly-furred newf.

So far all the Newf people say, I’d want another Newf. Hopeless, that’s what we are.

Melanie, Thanks for the additional info. Kelly and her family love the Newfs too. They are considering getting another. Only problems are shorter life span and in addition, they travel back and forth to their lake house about 3 weekends per month. With 3 kids, a bunny and two giant dogs, it makes for a very crowded SUV.

    Good morning all.
We had a grand day yesterday. Walking the beach, finding some great shells, laughing at seagulls waddling along in their Chaplinesque way, totally unaware of the comical image they project.
Late night sitting on the screen porch, replete with lobsters and frozen pudding ice cream, listening to the waves on the shore.
Sleeping a calm and restful night.

When I travel for work, AJ is under the mistaken impression that I stay in fancy hotels and eat five star meals, but it’s not true. Usually. When I was in the interior village earlier this week I stayed at a B&B with a wonderful local woman that I usually stay with when I travel there. I was invited to someone’s home for lunch one of my days there and had moose stew. It was wonderful. I was then invites back for dinner where we snacked on dried moose and even muktuk for dinner. I liked both much better than I anticipated. Dinner was salmon caught from their own camp; they gave me a jar of salmon to take home. Yum!

Ond Wednesday night I stayed in a hotel room in anchorage that had a jetted bathtub with a deep end. Talk about heaven. Yesterday, I checked into where I’m staying in homer to find it has a hot run that has an ocean view. I didn’t get back until almost ten last night, but I got up this morning and am writing on this here blog from that there hot tub. A little relaxing before a long day of work and then travel never hurt anyone, did it?

    Hi Boone!

I read Rio’s story this morning. How very, very sad. I worry about Rio’s friend driving to work and back. I hope she can eventually find a better job close to home. She is a smart lady and a company would be wise to hire her. We could all give her references.

Or, Rio’s plan B would work. He could come stay with me whenever they are filming the last episodes of Breaking Bad. Mom would drive us to the location.

B: I can’t force myself to get out of it. Looking at the ocean from a safe distance—I think I might be related to SiberH—is wonderful. I wish I didn’t have to work so late last night so I could have enjoyed the hot tub more.

Maybe Rio’s friend could be a dog handler. The pay is nonexistent—I’ve yet to see a check—and our dental plan is not to get cavities.

Labradoodles: Sometimes on Friday mornings I do a half day of doggie day care instead of the dog park. Mom says it give me a change of scenery. There is a one year old Labradoodle, Penny, there that has a crush on me. I like her and am nice to her but that is a far as it goes. At only one year old she is nuts but loveable. I am sure she will be a fine lady someday, but right now she is a goofy teenager.

Rio: We just read your post of last night. A terrible tragedy made even more disturbing by striking so very close to home.

    Howdy, Folks! Happy Friday!

We are only on Chapter 3 of AFOC. Taking our time with it, because it is such a looooong time until the next one.

Wose, we are very sorry to hear about the Prof’s wrist. ouch. At least he doesn’t have to walk on his, like we do!

Barb and Maggie, we are sorry to hear about Joey. Mom and Pop say they feel especially sad about that news, as well as Stella’s news, nowadays. Why? We don’t know, altho we have a funny feeling…

Bella, STAY IN THAT TUB with the ocean view !

Rio, the news of that awful accident is horrible. We always worry about that kind of thing when Mom and Pop leave for their offices. Mom has an especially long commute, but she tells us she doesn’t take highways, as if that makes us feel any better. How awful for your neighbor’s wife and little boys. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.

    Are you returning home tonight?
It’s a very nice day. The last of the evening chill is slowly disappearing with the rays of the morning sun.
The plan is to take care of all items on the 2Do list today. So…with that in mind…..

We had last year’s book signed at Murder By The Book. Great name.

Barb must get ready to go out to dinner with Kelly’s clan tonight. They are meeting at Crandalls, a place know far and wide for their wonderful broasted chicken. Like grandma used to make, with biscuits, mashed potatoes, gravy and slaw. Not low calorie, but highly delish!

  36. SnowBella
    5:32 pm on September 14th, 2012

B&M: What is this low calorie notion of which you speak? (Kromer tip to Professor B).

Oh dear, I’m upset that KirbyT or MPM might think I didn’t enjoy meeting them or that it isn’t high on my favorite moments list, but both times are very special to me. Can I blame it on being exhausted?

  37. OleyHowlers
    5:39 pm on September 14th, 2012

Exhaustion is for sure the reason. Plus, it is always dangerous to name names, because if you are anything like us, you are sure to forget a name or two. Or how about when making introductions? Mom could be introducing a bunch of people and go blank on someone’s name who she’s lnown all her life! Whats up with that?

Rebecca, your travels and stays sound terrific. Moose yes, not sure about the mukluk. Quite sure the salmon would be a no.

The next news is fixable, but sort of ends a poopy week in a poopy manner.
The eye doc did the all the tests, and then started repeating the one where the BRIGHT light drills into your brain. This went on for about 20 minutes. I then had no sight because of the pupils being dilated and bright lights drilled into my brain. Talk about a headache.

Upshot is I have to go back for more tests. It appears (and she’s not certain) that I have the beginning of glaucoma. Great (written in sarcastic font)

She asked me if there was any in the family and the only one I could think of is someone who is family but not by blood. I figured that wouldn’t count. snicker.

Turns out that my Aunt had it and a Cousin has it. Luckily, it is easily fixed with eye drops. But in November I go back for more drilling lights.

I have spent the rest of the day in a darkened room. I am now just able to tolerate light.

    Glad this week is over.
