“Why not?” Spence says.
“Time zone issues,” says Admin.
“The whole universe is one big clock – isn’t that something Bernie says?”
“You’d know.”

T&G, did you find out where those weddings are?
11:38 am on July 27th, 2012
Perhaps the power was out. Glad you are back.
Good morning all.
(Rio: I answered your question about pie crust this morning on yesterday’s blog: I’d be happy to show everyone how to make it. It is not difficult. The recipe is in Dishlicker’s Cookbook: “Cathartic Pie Crust.”)

Amalia here. Gilly is currently in the ER of the vet. No final diagnosis yet- they think either bowel obstruction or pancreatitis. But she is a sick little puppy. Prayers please while we wait
11:47 am on July 27th, 2012
Stover!… Someone says she is in the mood to bake but its too damned hot…sniff!…So she might make Great Grandma’s Case Noodle this weekend along with German Sausage and maybe a small salad to cut all the butter…heh!heh! …Woooooo!
11:48 am on July 27th, 2012
Gillleeeee!…Oh no! Say it isn’t so…sob!sob!sob!
11:51 am on July 27th, 2012
Heartfelt prayers for Gilly going up. Gilly, we are thinking of you and your family. sniff
11:53 am on July 27th, 2012
Here we go again: My internet did not work for awhile this morning but it is working now. My landline phone is not working at all. We are trying to get the phone company to respond. HA
If I disappear, it means the internet has gone out again.
11:57 am on July 27th, 2012
I hope Gilly starts feeling better.
12:05 pm on July 27th, 2012
Oh, Gilly, get better real soon. Did you eat something that got stuck? Prayers for you from both of us.
12:24 pm on July 27th, 2012
Spencer!…Maybe Spencer and Admin flew to England to watch the Olympics?…snort!…The opening ceremony is tonight!…chuffle!…We here love!love!love! The Olympics. I wonder if Alice will be participating in some of the sports like she did in the Winter Olypics a few years ago…heh!
12:30 pm on July 27th, 2012
Golinka: Thougts and prayers for Gilly. May the spirit of Spider bless our dear friend with healing. Take cover under the quilt.
1:09 pm on July 27th, 2012
Amalia, prayers here for our beloved Gilly. We are hoping it turns out like Kat’s ER visit early this year, when they also thought it was an obstruction. Thankfully, it was not. We hope that is what you find.
Gilly, please feel better.
1:18 pm on July 27th, 2012
Gilleee!…She will pull through this, I just know it…sniff!…Gilly has a lot of herding left to do…snort!
1:26 pm on July 27th, 2012
I may sound like a broken record, but is anyone up for a prayer tonight? Same pug time, same pug channel?
1:29 pm on July 27th, 2012
Rebecca. Great idea. All of us pulling together for little Gilly will hopefully help speed her recovery. Wookie
1:45 pm on July 27th, 2012
Time!…My friend will be home late tonight so if the prayer time is after 8:30 EST she will be able to be there…sniff!
1:47 pm on July 27th, 2012
Rebecca, Count is in on the prayer…Gilly has to get better.
Thanks for thinking of prayer time.
2:02 pm on July 27th, 2012
We are in for prayer time. Given that Gilly is in emergency, start praying now also.
2:11 pm on July 27th, 2012
Tupper here. Gilly is home and passed out under the dining room table. The very good news is that it is not an obstruction. Her bloodwork came back pretty good, but the vet said she could tell Gilly was sick by the look in her eyes and the strange metallic odor about her
They decided to treat her for acute pancreatitis, starting right now even tho the test results won’t be in until tomorrow. The vet let her come home since Gilly was getting more and more agitated with each exam, and the vet wanted her calm. But we have to keep her pretty drugged for the next couple if days and she can’t have a single thing to eat til tomorrow afternoon. Then she just gets rice and boiled hamburg.
Mama was really scared this morning. Poor little doggie was splorting every 3 minutes for a half an hour. And she looked SO very sick.
So now she is resting and the amazing thing is that Basil and Sage are laying down right near her, watching over her. They may be Wrotten, but underneath all that, they love her too.
Thanks for the prayers. Mama says that they helped not only a sick puppy but a worried sick family.
2:24 pm on July 27th, 2012
Tupper: That is a relief. Love the thought of Basil and Sage watching over her.
2:25 pm on July 27th, 2012
Pancreatitis!…What is this pancreatitis anyways?…sniff!…How do they treat such a thing in a Corgi?…snort!
2:29 pm on July 27th, 2012
We are so thrilled to hear the good news. Splorting continuously is the same symptoms Kat had earlier in the year. She spent all night in the ER getting test after test. They couldn’t find anything. Finally they gave her a shot to make her stop splorting. She was tired, but better after that. And she couldn’t have food, nor did she want it. So we are hoping that you get the same results (i.e. Negative for everything).
2:39 pm on July 27th, 2012
Just talked to Golinka. Hadn’t even gotten to the bottom of the page before I called. I told her to give Gilly lots of hugs and kisses from the Pack (and me).
Had a phone call very early this morning from a friend’s whose Newf seems to have the Canine Cognitive Disfunction. He’s not to bad right now, but the symptoms show up at night with the walking in circles, barking and confusion. She hasn’t had much sleep for the past few days. Her vet has put the Newf on an anti-seizure med and the poor guy is beginning to stabilize. There is also some help for dogs with this from a med that is used to treat two leggeds with Parkinson’s.
When I went back to our vet this morning (forgot one medication) was telling them about the dog and they had a dog with the same symptoms and tried Neutricks for this disorder. Told me to tell her but to make sure her vet approved.
The reason I’m going through this? OwleyHowlers? Hope this helps.
Need a nap.
2:42 pm on July 27th, 2012
T&G: I’m glad Gilly is resting with the (un)wrotten kats keeping watch.
2:43 pm on July 27th, 2012
Splorting!…Beau spent the weekend splorting but he did not go to the emergency room…sniff!…He didn’t act like he was going to kick the bucket or anything that serious. Now he is tip-top and back to getting on my nerves…grunt!
2:46 pm on July 27th, 2012
Gilly! Please feel better! Strong prayers going out for you and your family. We hope the Howlers are right and it will turn out to something minor like Kat had.
SnowBella: Count us in for the 9 pm EDT prayer. In the meantime, as others have said, Prayers will be with the Royals throughout the day.
HerbKats: You are the best…taking care of your friend…tuck the Quilt around snug.
3:02 pm on July 27th, 2012
Nerves!…Just like last night, I was lying on the easy-boy chair stretched out inbetween my freind legs with my head on the edge of the long part. I was almost asleep when Beau jumped up ON ME!…grunt!….Boy did I tell him what-for!..growl!grrrr!…If my teeth came together I would have taken his flat head off…grump!
3:14 pm on July 27th, 2012
OMD, Melanie! We looked up Neutricks, and it is for old dogs brain activity (or lack thereof) !!!
http://www.neutricks.com/
We will ask our vet, but you should know that in the past when Mom asked the vet for help, she felt like the vet’s office thought she was just an impatient annoyed old dog owner. Nobody nobody nobody knows what this is like until you go thru this night after night after night. And we have all been going thru this for a couple of years now. Last night Pop was literally up with Sasha all night long.
The most our vet ever recommended was Melatonin to help her sleep. It helps somewhat, but not near enough. Today, Mom worked from home, and we are indoors with her. We all got to listen to periodic outbursts all day long too.
3:16 pm on July 27th, 2012
And please do not think that we only pity ourselves (we do). But also our heart breaks every single night for our Best Girl. She is so lost. She who is the most tenacious, smartest, strongest husky in the entire world.
3:22 pm on July 27th, 2012
Rest and get better Gilly.
3:23 pm on July 27th, 2012
NewTricks!…Is this something my friend can give her mother…snort!snort!…She’s up all night wandering around turning off the ac, opening windows and flushing the toilet…grump!
3:32 pm on July 27th, 2012
OleyHowlers, I do not think you are whining. If your vet can’t figure things out then read about it and do what you think is best. Jeeze Louise, I wish youse guys could be with our vet. She is really nice (and really Irish!).
Riö, I am thinking about taking it myself!
So we have Dan, Sasha, Gilly and Rose under the quilt. Who else is there? Who shall we shove in?
3:48 pm on July 27th, 2012
Hate to break it to you, Melanie, but no way you are keeping Sasha under a quilt. Nobody tells Sasha what to do or where to go. heh heh
We did call our vet’s office and they are checking with our vet and will call us back. We do really like this vet, but she is new to us, and us to her. We just transitioned to her since getting Kat.
4:06 pm on July 27th, 2012
Fellow Sibers, I do not think you are whining either. Mom says she knows it is difficult. You guys love Sasha.
We are glad Gilly was able to come home and they started treatment already. Get better, Gilly.
4:10 pm on July 27th, 2012
Tenzing has scoped out a nice corner of the quilt and reports that Sasha visits from time to time when she feels like it.
4:13 pm on July 27th, 2012
Tenzing makes a great pillow especially when heads are weary and hearts are heavy. I should report that Gus has rested on such a pillow recently. Tenzing is a big dog and there is room for Gilly Monster’s head.
4:28 pm on July 27th, 2012
Dear Royals,
So sorry to hear of Gilly’s problems. I hope he is happy to be back home and that the Kats are keeping him warm and comfy. We will be in on the Pug prayer time also.
We are sorry to hear about Sasha’s troubles also. Glad we have the quilt to keep us all safe during these hard times.
4:34 pm on July 27th, 2012
OleyHowlers, you can get the Neutricks on Amazon.
I am doing barbecued chicken in the oven. I saw some Gluten Free Barbecue sauce and thought, That’s it! It’s summer, we’re eating that and gluten free French Fries. Now I just have to figure out a vegetable.
It’s not hot here, but the humidity is unbelievable. I am concerned with the parental units and walking pneumonia.
5:05 pm on July 27th, 2012
Melanie, french fries are not a vegetable? Somebody better tell mom.
Little Gilly, get better my friend. BTW, someone referred to you as a him. Is that right? What about Tupper?
Kirby’s mom posted a picture on FB of sled dogs running in the snow in Australia. Snow. Want.
Siber, there are HOV lanes in Dallas.
5:06 pm on July 27th, 2012
Melanie!…My friend wants to know if you think it is safe to buy that heart-worm medicine over the internet?…sniff!…Does Amazon sell that too?…heh!
5:18 pm on July 27th, 2012
Dad tried to buy heartworm medicine over the internet, but he needed a prescription and the vets office did not want to give him one.
5:31 pm on July 27th, 2012
Thinking of you Gilly. Feel better.
5:34 pm on July 27th, 2012
Vets offices are very greedy about not wanting to write prescriptions for meds that can be purchased over the internet. The vet clinics must made a good profit on those.
Mom has bought stuff from 1-800-Petmeds and been very pleased with them, but never anything that required a prescription. It just wasn’t worth the hassle with the vet clinic.
5:36 pm on July 27th, 2012
Rio, If the heartworm medication can be bought over the internet without a prescription, there is a good chance it is phoney heartworm medication.
6:03 pm on July 27th, 2012
Dear Royal Family,
I’m so sorry to hear about Gilly. My prayers, and good wishes are with Gilly, as they are with the rest of the family. I do believe that kats do have healing powers, even wrotten ones. Thank you Basil, and Sage for watching over your friend.
OHs, my heart and prayers are with Sasha and your family as well. Through your stories and her picture on FOC, I can tell that she is a proud, strong, and majestic dog.
Miss Macy, yes, what you said. Snow. Want.
Rio up top with his Rockies cap.
6:05 pm on July 27th, 2012
Hi Rose!
6:09 pm on July 27th, 2012
Hi B!
It has been a long day for me what with lightning bolts in the am, and talk therapy in the afternoon. The Smoochers have been wonderful, and after much discussion, the Smoochers are on their way to the Royals to look in on Gilly, and offer their special healing powers.
BTW, Luna looked like such a mom in her plastic rain bonnet!!!!
6:30 pm on July 27th, 2012
Both Tupper and Gilly are Ladies. Gilly’s full name is Gillyflower.
Hi Rose!
Riö, I don’t know about heart worm medicine. You see we are technical a kennel and we buy an injectable type of medicine. They all get a shot once a month.
Macy, we had ketchup. Does that count?
OLYMPICS start tonight!!
6:43 pm on July 27th, 2012
Our vet has advised not to use over-the-counter heart-worm medication. Siber-H is right about them refusing to hand out prescriptions for medications bought online…even for fleas and ticks. We were advised the reason is that supplies sit around in warehouses and lose their potency. This could quite possibly be true as those picked up from pet stores sometimes don’t work as they should.
Rose: That was very generous of you to send the Smoochers off to tend to Gillyflower, but then doing nice things is in your nature.
6:53 pm on July 27th, 2012
Fleas and ticks. Yuck. We use “Bug Off Garlic” and it does a good job. Though if Patsy decides to lick me in the morning after breakfast . .
6:57 pm on July 27th, 2012
I drafted a prayer for tonight.
6:57 pm on July 27th, 2012
BSD: Please check your SDD.
7:06 pm on July 27th, 2012
Our vet office is going to research Neutricks. Thanks for the tip, Melanie. We think Mom should just buy some from Amazon.
We get almost all medications online, including prescription stuff like for Heartworm and Flea.Tick stuff. Our vet is happy to work with some, and not others. We are using Drs. Foster Smith. In fact, our vet office recomends we get stuff online because it costs us less.
7:58 pm on July 27th, 2012
Oh, Bear……
I’m in between the Olympics and the Yankee game….they are playing those dreaded Red Sox!
Rio and SiberH, what is going on in Rockies Nation?
8:16 pm on July 27th, 2012
Tupper here reporting in on the little sickie.
Personally, I think she is getting WAY too much attention. She has been sleeping in varying laps since she came home from the v e t. Mama took her for a walk around the block tonight while we had our dinner. Once Gilly got home and took her pills, she was kind of loopy and cross eyed. Now she’s back in Dad’s lap, having her ears rubbed while she tells him just exactly how terribly sick she was.
I just bet she is going to get to sleep on the big bed tonight too.
grump…
8:22 pm on July 27th, 2012
Masquers: Can you ask BSD to check his SDD. Es muy importante.
8:24 pm on July 27th, 2012
Rose, The Rockies keep on losing, They are in last place in their division. They are on their way to losing more games this season than any season in their history as a ball club. GASP It is bad.
Gilly must be feeling better. Be nice Tupper. She is your little sister.
Thanks Rebecca. I’m remembering our prayer time.
8:24 pm on July 27th, 2012
Woooo Hooooo!!! Corgis in the opening ceremonies of the Olympics!!!
8:30 pm on July 27th, 2012
Yes, the Corgis were just great! We’re watching it here in Chevy Chase. The Queen and the Bond guy were okay too.
Wookie
8:37 pm on July 27th, 2012
SnowBella: Received text from M and picked your SDD up also.
8:39 pm on July 27th, 2012
We loved the Corgis too. Were not sure who the guy was. The Queen jumping out of the helicopter was a nice touch. We are watching and enjoying the opening ceremony.
Gilly, make the most of it while you can. You can never get too many tummies you know. Hope you are feeling tip top again by tomorrow.
8:40 pm on July 27th, 2012
I think the Olympics are going to give me nightmares!
8:43 pm on July 27th, 2012
SiberH, lo siento. My cube mate at work is a big Met fan, and loves baseball. He told me that the Rockies had a really good team at one time. I wish it were true now.
Now, Tupper, be nice to your sister. I watched the corgis too. I explained to the Prof that is why you are the Royals, and the Royal Family.
Wookie, I must admit Daniel Craig in a tux is easy on the eyes.
8:58 pm on July 27th, 2012
I’m here! Just in time. Loved the corgis! Love almost everything. The music from four decades seemed to last four decades. Other than that? GREAT
9:01 pm on July 27th, 2012
Dear Creator,
Again we pray as individuals scattered across your earth, separated by geography and different faiths, yet united in one purpose. We thank thee for one another and for the creatures that bring so much joy to our lives, and at times, can bring heartache. Thank you for giving us the ability to feel, to love and to cherish. Thank you for the blessings we find in happy eyes, cocked heads, floppy ears, wagging tails, and wet noses.
At this time, Creator, we ask a special blessing of calm and comfort be with those who are in need of thy gentle hand. Please calm and comfort, and bless with health and healing those who are hurting or ailing including Gilly, Sasha, and Gus; they are special creatures. Please bless those who struggle and endure in silence with the same blessing; they are also special and cherished souls.
Creator, we ask thee to calm and comfort the individuals who hold sick felines close, those who rub troubled Corgi bellies, those who tried to rescue creatures in need but despite their desires could not, those who have endured sleepless nights caring for your creatures, those who care for aging loved ones and those who endure the pains of their loved one’s youth. Please wrap your arms around them, hold them close, hold them near that they might endure.
Creator, we ask thee to bless those who have had to say goodbye to your creatures. Please bless them with peace. We ask that the veil be thin between their new world and our world that we may feel their spirit once again.
We thank thee for the safety and protection you have blessed us with, for those dreams that are surely being realized, and for the support we find with one another.
Creator please bless each of us and those we love, whether animal or human with guidance and direction, safety and protection, calm and comfort and health and healing.
Amen

Corgis in the Olympic Competition?
9:23 pm on July 27th, 2012
Thanks Bella, I found a site that posted the beginning of the games up until the countries started marching in.
I loved it. Though I did find the 4 decades of music to go on for about 4 decades.
I’m with Wöökie, bring back Sean Connery as he once was. (heart fluttering)
I forgot to say that YSAS is doing an overnight for Boardwalk tonight. He has no idea what his is. Guess I’ll find out tomorrow late late late in the afternoon.
I’M NOT GOING ANYWHERE TOMORROW! It is pool time for me . . please, just some pool time . . and reading . . I like to be awake when I’m reading . . instead of falling asleep over the book . . please?

9:28 pm on July 27th, 2012
Thank you Bella. That was truly beautiful and heartfelt.
9:29 pm on July 27th, 2012
The only Bond I’ve ever seen is the current actor. We could have worse…
9:30 pm on July 27th, 2012
England!…They are 7 or 8 hours ahead of us here…sniff!…This could get tricky especially if we do not want to know who wins the gold till we actually watch the event…wheeze!
9:30 pm on July 27th, 2012
Thanks for the compliments, but living up to one of Golinka’s prayers is no easy task.
BSD saved the day!

9:54 pm on July 27th, 2012
(whispering) We have just tucked a very sleepy little Gilly dog into her bed. She isn’t crying anymore, and she seems to be resting comfortably. She usually won’t get into her bed until after late night walkies, but she is snuggled in like a baby puppy.
Sage is still watching over her.
Thanks Bella. And everyone else too. Guess we have been needing that quilt quite a bit lately, hmm?
And Mama says that Sean Connery (flutter flutter) IS James Bond.
9:57 pm on July 27th, 2012
I wanted to stay up but it’s no use. We all wanted to see Paul McCartney and then the lighting of the big flame.
10:04 pm on July 27th, 2012
We just now finished our dinner. O.K. their dinner. Caw Caw pork chops on the grillwith Pop’s special rub. And Fried Green Tomatoes with a great remoulade. Wow that was good.
We are loving everything about this Opening Ceremonies! And we never like opening ceremonies. This is so much better than any others have been. We loved all that musoc, Melanie. And we love Mr. Bean. And yep, we loved the healthcare too.
We thank all of youse guys for praying for our sis and heroine Sasha to find peace. That really meant a lot to us. Bear, thanks for posting the prayer.

The drummers or whatever the white dots are should be neater in our humble opinion. When there is an overhead shot they look messy. Or maybe that is how it is supposed to be. One or the other.
11:05 pm on July 27th, 2012
China!…I don’t think any country can match the amazing opening ceremony China gave the world…heh!heh!…This one was messy all around, but very organized at the same time….wheeze!…We, did not get to see the whole thing unfortunately. Just hap-hap-happy to be watching the parade of athletes right now…snuffle!
11:09 pm on July 27th, 2012
