Rio – Send us your snow – we’re dying here. Too many ski trips have been canceled. The ski slopes are just barely useable. And then you get all this snow that you don’t want.

I’m reading David Rosenfelt’s First Degree. I was just in the mood for his wonderful humor while telling a good story.

    I’m off to Sam’s and doctor’s appointments.

    Hi there, Dawson!
Hi, Mollypop’sMom: Good luck with your appointments, and have fun at Sam’s. Perhaps Rio might share some of that snow with us here in New York as well.

Molly’s Mom, Just finished First Degree, and really liked it. Now waiting for his next one to come thru library loan. Good luck with the doc. appointments.

Taking off soon for the burbs. Picking up 10 doz. eggs first from chicken/goat friend, Kim.

Foggy here, hope it clears before travel.

Barb will be gone till Sat. night, so don’t worry. Jordy is coming to play with me. Later, gaters.

Good Morning, MollyPop’s Mom, Dawson, Rose and Barb & MagPie, and everyone else.

I made dinner last night and went full out! I made Steak Parmecian. Excellent. Still have some for lunch.

C.Harris: Somehow I think the Herbs would escape from the wolves. In fact, they remind me of a cat we had, Mary, (when in doubt throw Mary out) who had her ideas of where Kats were on the hierarchy of Canine and Felines.

A pack of neighbor dogs surrounded her and she leaped up landed on the St. B’s back and road him down the hill. He was surprised!

Good morning, y’all! Mom and I are still feeling the results of last night’s orgy of chocolate cake and chocolate mint ice cream. Oh, wait. I NEVER GOT ANY CHOCOLATE CAKE AND CHOCOLATE MINT ICE CREAM! Something about chocolate not being any good for dogs, yada yada. I think Mom just wants it all for herself!

Anyway, don’t look for us to send you any snow, Mollypop’s Mom. According to the paper, our high yesterday was 73 degrees — the sixth-warmest Groundhog’s Day here in recorded history. Not that I’m complaining!!!

Kirby, surely you were able to snag a few of the donuts from Melanie’s cake! Or maybe they are saving it for today? Good luck.

Someone was asking about A Good Dog. Mom and I listened to it on a talking book and we loved, loved, loved it.

Oh, and Mom wanted to thank everyone for their birthday wishes last night. She says she was feeling a little lonely without Dad here, so your friendship really helped! Again I say, she wasn’t all alone! I was here!!! (It’s like I’m talking in a vacuum!)

Melanie: Thanks so much for that stack of donuts! I noticed some of the ones with sprinkles were missing — cough, Rebecca, cough! — but that’s OK, there were plenty to go around. Mom had some for breakfast this morning. She even gave me a few bites of one of the plain cake donuts. I had my eye on one of the chocolate ones, but again with the yada yada stuff.

Rose: Mom did some research for me. According to WebMD: No amount of chocolate is OK for your dog to consume. Dark chocolate and baker’s chocolate are riskiest; milk and white chocolate pose a much less serious risk.

I’m wondering if what you saw was actually “white chocolate” by definition. According to the research I’ve been doing, something that looks like white chocolate may not be, because the FDA requires white chocolate to contain at least 20 percent cocoa butter. But some manufacturers substitute vegetable fats, so it has to be called something like “almond bark” instead. Real white chocolate is actually ivory, so if it’s “white” it doesn’t include cocoa butter, which I guess would make it safe for us guys!

    Good Morning Everyone!!

Big surprise! I woke up to 3 inches of Snow this morning. It will melt rapidly but at least it was good for one romp at the dog park this morning.
I wonder what is happening weatherwise at Rio’s. Gasp…He may be snowed under.

another lovely day in the Mud Room. Just taking a quick break for a cuppa kawfee. Somehow, a smattering of clay dust on top of kawfee, while looking as pretty as cinnamon, doesn’t make it into the gourmet hall of fame.

Rio – hope you are staying safely at home. Why is it every office has to have at least one of those types?

CHarris – Basill and Sage said to tell you “NOT funny! Not funny at all”.
whispering – we thought it was a hoot, but we can’t say so too loud in front of Mama. For some reason, she actually likes those Wrotten Kats

The sun is out bright, the temp is in the upper 40’s and this is OUR idea of a perfect winter in New England.

Back to the glorious Mud Room.

Whew, back from a 4 hour shopping trip. V*E*Ts, furniture store, furniture store, GW store, Wallies, The store that holds things together and the grocery store. Zoë and Patsy are napping. I will also take one soon.

Jesse on the other hand was working hard. He got rid of rugs. Changed other rugs to different rooms, vacuumed and mopped the floors.

I alway forget get what pretty floors we have because we keep them covered with rugs. The Pack has a hard time getting up and down on the bare floors. The floors have 14 to 18 inch planks.

    Show far show good.

Jasper’s mom here. All is well. Made a relatively short run to the Detroit area today to give bad news to a very nice person who just can’t do the job. Got a little teary-eyed because this person has tried the best they can do, just not a good job fit. Other activities this week involved issuing 2 suspensions and one you’ve-got-90-days-to-shape-up-or-you’re-outta-here notification. Ended my day with an email reporting an employee allegedly stealing the pop cans. Sheesh! So I came home, made a homemade pizza and sucked down a gin and tonic. Then I felt all better.

I’ve been hearing some buzz about a book trilogy called The Hunger Games. I guess a movie is coming out too based on the first book. I downloaded the first book on my cell phone this afternoon ($4.99), so I spent some time after work doing some reading (and gin sipping). Interesting plot dealing with survival of the fittest, kill or be killed. A different sort of genre for me, but I’m hooked into it.

I’m also in the middle of re-reading J.D. Robb’s entire in death series (an annual event), and and in the middle of Imitation in Death.

My big plans this weekend include returning a broken item to T.J. Maxx, sending $$ to Snowhook, laundry, and baking some kind of yummy treat to take to the office on Monday as tribute for surviving this past week. I was thinking some kind of french toast casserole or maybe bread pudding thing…

Drug update: Mom says to tell you that she gets allergy shots, Flonase (a nasal inhailer), Symbacort (a daily inhailer), Albuterol (a rescue inhailer), and Singulair (a prescription med) to help with her allergies and asthma. Doc says mom is already taking the max dose of steriods she can with her current meds. Doc said she would try the Prednisone short term, but may also add an antihistamine like Claritin as well. We’ll see what smart ideas the doc has on Monday. Mom’s wondering if it might be something in her work building as she only has those episodes of shortness of breath and dizziness inside work. Blah! Maybe an air purifier??

Rio – you have “four feet” – you crack us up…and we never crack up!

Mama has been in the kitchen since this afternoon. She put dinner on, and then started mixing things like brown sugar, and butter (never margarine) and chocolate bits and all kinds of other wonderful smelling stuff. She let Dad and Gramp have samples, but she says she has to ship the rest away somewhere cold and icy. And she wouldn’t give us even a little bitty sample.

But – the good news is that while the last batch of chocolatey stuff was baking, she got out the GIANT mixing bowl and made up a batch of our very special pumpkin biscuits. So now the house smells like oats and honey and molasses and pumpkin.

Betcha didn’t know Corgis could drool as much as Newfs……

Allergies!… I keep thinking about all the crap my friend went through for years and years, sinus rinse, allergy medications, puking up snot, legs swelling, day after day literally…grunt!…Then we moved. Now she does NONE of these things…sniff….It is amazing. So I have to think there is something, maybe One Thing that is making Jaspers Maw’s life Le Miserable ….sniff!

Home at last! I did take my own advice yesterday and worked from home, but when I left this morning that was no talk from that pesky weatherman of blizzard warnings. I had to go in because I was teaching a class otherwise I would have stayed home.

AJ is working with friend of the kennel, Mick to fix our snow blower so he can clear the drive way. It will be a long night for a certain Giant while I’m snuggled in my warm, soft bed with my baseball toys…wait, that doesn’t sound right.

Team Feed the Giant: I would like to announce that friends of the Kennel, Mick and Jodi are joining your ranks and providing AJ with some homemade jerky.

T&G: I bet your kitchen smells heavenly.

Rebecca!…You just settle down and relax from that awful white knuckle drive…sniff!…We have all day tomorrow to discuss the Supper-Bowl Party and the fixins…heh!…I am so relieved you are home safe and sound…wuffle!

Giant!…It seems a Giants work is Never Done…sniff!… AJ just goes and goes and goes, doesn’t he?…snorkel!

Rio: Yes, yes he does. AJ isn’t one who can sit still for long, plus there is always something to be done around these parts.

Drawing! I had a huffle and gruffle with the drawing kerfuffle and had to set it up differently. Snowhook is auctioning off a lap quilt that AJ’s sister had made for fund raising purposes. This quilt depcits various wildlife in winter settings. Instead of being able to enter the quilt in the same blog posting that shows the picture, I had to set it up on the left hand side of our blog as a gadget. I think it worked for me last night because I was signed in, but when I tried it signed out of Snowhook’s blog it didn’t work. Sorry for the headache.

Kerfuffled!….Did everybody get kerfuffled and leave for the day?…heh!…. We managed to talk Beau into coming down here with us so he doesn’t bother her mother by sleeping on her hip…grunt!… He is down here now sleeping in her lap and wuff-wuffling. It looks like he is going to erupt into a full SNORE very soon…grump!…We are trying to catch-up on Once Upon A Time, hopefully before the full-blown snore happens…sniff!

Sooooo. Mom and Dad just got home from their date, and Mom was carrying a bag that smelled very beefy. But then Dad took me for a walk, and by the time we got back the stuff from the bag had disappeared — it wasn’t in my bowl where I thought it would be! Turns out Mom locked it in the refrigerator because she’s going to take it to work tomorrow for lunch. Grump!

Glad everyone’s home, safe and sound!!!

    Rebecca’s home!!! Excellent.
Movie was good, if a little slow. Good acting by Plummer, who has Oscar nod. Cute Jack Russell Terrier (Cosmo)
We here are in for the After Bowl Party…will decide what to bring tomorrow.
Got caught up on Once Upon A Time waiting up with Bella for the Giant to get home the other night. We think it is the best of all the new shows. We agree…the evil queen is perfectly cast, as are the others. Very strong actors in each part. It just keeps getting better and better.

Jasper: My mom read the Hunger Games trilogy and loved the books! She also got my girl to read them, and she loved them, too. Now they’re both waiting for the movie. A lot of times Mom doesn’t like movies based on books that she’s read, but the previews she’s seen of the Hunger Games movie looks pretty good.

If you like The Hunger Games, you might want to try another series by Suzanne Collins. It’s actually for children, but Mom really, really liked the books and has recommended them to lots of kids, who loved them, too! It’s called Gregor the Overlander — about a boy who follows his little sister when she falls through the grate in the laundry room of their apartment building. They discover a land where the bats and cockroaches are big enough to ride on — and they’re the good guys!

KirbyT: Next time you have to provide canine supervision to your mom when your pop gets his dates crossed, I suggest you get payment in advance.

AJ just arrived home from fixing the snow blower. Yep, it is going to be a long night for him.

Gus and BooBear and Bluecat have been added to the Plunderers joining Snowhook on the trail!

Shoveled my driveway for the *#@! time this winter. I must say that my driveway is getter narrower and narrower as I get tired of flinging snow up and over and just deposit it in front of the wall of snow. At least it is getting lighter so I got some of it done during daylight and some after.

Charris: If you lived closer, I’d send AJ your way. He’s fit, but it is a bit of a long way to push a snowblower from Willow to you.

There seem to be so many books to read and never enough time.

CHarris!….I almost feel your pain as I watched my freind shovel her mothers drive and her neighbors walks this morning…sniff!…I have to say it is nothing near what you have been dealing with all winter…wuffle!…Move! Move far far away from snow once you retire!…heh!

Masquers: Thanks for your sympathy! I ought to show your post to Mom and Dad — let them know that I’m not the only one who thinks they’re mean!!!

Before I forget, Bear, Mom sent Staff’s book to you today. We weren’t sure about it at first, but we found ourselves getting drawn into the lives of the old ladies. In the end we found it very amusing! We hope you like it, too! The man at the post office says it should get to you by Monday — but I’m not sure if he’s taking the MGs into account!!!

My mother actually loved to shovel and I have photos of her shoveling. So I sometimes think of her while I’m shoveling. Other times I am thinking of the kats singing and that gives me energy to shovel faster.

Rebecca: I don’t know — they’re pretty old! Remember, my Mom just had a birthday yesterday! Dad says he’s glad about that, because his birthday was on New Year’s Eve, so ever since then he’s been four years older than Mom. Now he’s only three years older. Makes him feel less like a cradle robber! (When Mom and Dad started dating, he was 21 and Mom was only 17!)

Well, folks, Mom is shutting down the computer now, so I’ll have to see you tomorrow. I’ll probably have to wait until Mom gets home to turn on the computer, though. Dad has Saturday classes tomorrow, and he usually has to take a nap when he gets home from school! (Last night when he had duty, one of his students came up to him complaining that he couldn’t do one of his algebra problems. “Sir, this isn’t coming out right, because 3 doesn’t go into 18 evenly.” It tires him out just thinking about it!)

    Good night, y’all!

CHarris – the only thing Kats singing makes us want to shovel is lots of dirt…OVER THEM!

Oh-the kitchen does smell so very wonderful. Those biscuits have to sit in the oven overnight, and then tomorrow, MAma breaks them up for the last slow bake – and she always gives us a couple that are still kind of gooey. yummmmmmmm…

We should bring some of those to the Supper Bowl party. Auntie Melanie gave us some special cookies for Christmas that were fabulous too. Maybe she could bring some of those.

Kirby, dial 911 and report an emergency. Sure sounds like one to me. Mom and Dad went to a dinner tonight where there was prime rib. Did any come home? It did NOT. Don’t come home with beef on your breath unless there is a doggy bag, that’s my rule!
