No Post Today

Why not? It looks like they’ve all gone to the beach. And at certain times of the year there are rules about me and my kind at the beach. Rules? Let’s not even go there. Bernie likes when Butch Cassidy says, “There are no rules in a knife fight.” Once Bernie even said it himself. The perp gave up right away. Bernie knows how to put things.

I feel a spell of gnawing coming on.

Welcome two pals, namely Cooper and Sparky.

Try not to gnaw on too much while you’re there by yourself!

I can’t believe my brain went dead just before W-L came on! *&%$%&*(())&

I hope Barb and MagPie got some sleep.

    Good Morning Everyone!

Well, I think they should take you to the beach with them Chet. It would be more fun with you there especially if you had an orange frisbee! Rules are for breaking.

    Good morning all.

    Hi Whitey-Lance!

    Can we talk privately?

    Excuse us, everyone.

(whispering fiercely) Listen, Buddy, I’m just going to tell you straight up: I Heart Sam. I know, I know, You escorted her to the Wedding and not Me, because I was with Nattie, but that thing with Nattie was a passing fancy. Really. Well, not really, because she is so very Hot!

Plus she likes Jack from the dog park.

Okay, pal, glad we had this little talk and cleared the air.

Abbie is unhappy this morning. She wants to be up on the ironing board but can’t jump that high. Life is a trial for a fluffy kat. Yesterday I put her up there but this morning I cleared off the stool that will get her half way.
I wonder…well she figured that out fast. (To my surprise) Now she is testing my quilt fabric.

I don’t suppose the Wookster lays on ironing boards?

    Nah, doubt it greatly.

Setting up for the TOGA tomorrow and then the Fireworks Finale tonight.

I’m going to see this tomorrow! My ME nephew bought tickets for my sister’s BD!

“In this live interactive event, the baker and star of TLC’s Cake Boss will share the stories behind his hit TV series and his colorful Italian family, answer audience questions and give a live demonstration of the techniques that have made him one of the most successful and renowned cake artists in the nation. Buddy will even invite audience members to join the fun on stage. The whole family is invited for a night of “bakin’ with the boss” one will not soon forget.”

Forgot to put up a picture of OTAS working at his computer.
    This is from my vacation.

B&M: That is a fine state of affairs! A snafu in the electrical system just before today’s showing. Not to mention the lack of sleep. Another example of Murphy’s Law in action.

Melanie: I’ll post a pic of the infamous Trigger later today or early tomorrow.

Memo to Staff (from Wookie’s dad): You are definitely right, Wooks does not perch on ironing boards. The thought of it almost boggles the mind though. However, when we first got him as a relatively young pup (9 months or so), he had this incredible vertical leap and on a couple of occasions basically jumped up on the dining room table from a standing position. Not looking for food or anything, but just because he could. Fortunately, the habit died quickly. We now refer to that as his table dancing phase.

Good morning, gang, and a fine sleepy morning it is!

SIL gave Barb some suggestions, but she is a dunce when it comes to electrical, soooo at 3:00 she finallg got up and disconnected several of those little bastards so we could get some sleep.

7:30 this morning the electrician called, and told her to try this and that. She said to hell with it, get over here NOW, I don’t care about a service charge!

Now it is blissfully, blessedly QUIET! And 2 hours to go before the showing.

The Crazy Lady broker asked Barb if she was taking me away for the showing, and Barb said she might just take me out in the yard. There was a long pause, then she asked if I would be on leash. Barb said yes, then she asked if I would bark at the people. Barb told her I like MOST people. Think she missed the point. She is the only person I ever wanted to bite. That should tell you something! BBL

Table-Dancing!….Little does the Wooster’s Dad know, but Wookie still has his incredible vertical leaping ability …snort!…It has saved his fur many a time when he’s been out on secret missions.….chorkel! …Remember that time he was hanging by his tail in Spencer’s office?….sniff!…How do you think he got up there anyways?…heh!

Well, we are back for a second. Showing went well, but was rather quick. Story is, very nice lady, has 3 dogs, Chicago area teacher, boy friend is a cop, mid to late 30’s, probably no kids. Looking for a place for weekends and time off that would be relaxing and quiet. She took lots of pictures, and said she loved the decorating. Think she is doing the preliminary search, and then bringing the guy back to see the ones she likes. Good chance they will come back for another look-see.

SiberH!… Thanks for reminding me…grunt!… I was busy snuffling around outside and forgot all about that fund raising business…heh!… As you all know, we cannot and will not be having a Pre-Christmas Auction due to unforeseen pre-emptive actions on the part of TMG….grunt!… So some other ideas have surfaced that are not an Auction. Here they are. If you guys like the them please grunt once for “Yes”, twice for “No” or vice versa…sniff!

    1. Snowhook has a link on their page to the Musher Mercantile Store. I propose we use this Store to sell our donated Items. It will be like the Auction but not really. Rebecca already has a Pay Pal set up over there. More details will be hammered out if this idea is accepted by the Plunderers.

    2. Booties! We need volunteers to help Rebecca and AJ out with the sewing of millions of booties. Maybe a few less than that, but I don’t think by much… snort! … We need someone to volunteer to coordinate this big sewing circle. This volunteer will gather information from Rebecca regarding the booties in question. This volunteer will also be in charge of everyone on the sewing circle making sure they actually sew the amount of booties they say they will…heh! …or ELSE!

    3. Cookbook! If and when it is ever finished, should we put this up for sale at The Store? We would all get a free copy of course.

Barb’s story reminds me of mom smoke detector story. A while back, our smoke detector went off.

    Lordy, was it loud!

So mom and dad ran around the house, shutting off all the smoke detectors. First they poked them with the broom handle! And then dad got the ladder and took out all the batteries!

    CLANGCLANGCLANGCLANGCLANGCLANGCLANG

I ran and hid my head but it was still loud!

    Dad said some unmentionable words.

Then he went outside and turned off the main breaker to the house.

    CLANGCLANGCLANGCLANGCLANGCLANGCLANG.

Now what? Why didn’t the noise stop?

And then they looked at the couch. They had this mat on the new couch that screamed whenever a kat or a dog sat on it. It had folded over on itself and that is what was making all that racket.

Serves them right. Everyone knows that dogs and Kats need to be on the couch in order to get a proper rest.

Masquers, Thanks for the pic. That is how one of us is going to look if we don’t get some sleep tonight! Barb said she kept nodding off today when she was at the office for 3 hours.

When the 2 gals came to look at the house, the teacher asked if I waas friendly, then was petting me, but when I went up to the real estate lady she looked a little nervous and stepped back a little. When Barb asked if she was afraid of dogs she said no, so we think that rotten hag that Barb works for told her to watch out for me because I am vicious. I should have bitten her when I had the chance!

Macy: One of Mom’s friends drives an ice cream truck, so she was worried at first that he had melted into the truck. But then we realized that that wasn’t his. Phew! Mom was afraid she wouldn’t be able to flag him down for ice cream anymore!

And I’m all paws when it comes to that silly sewing contraption. But if Snowhook needs booties, we’ll give it our best! And when it comes to No. 3, I say sell the heck out of it! Mom is poodled up because the women where she volunteers told her that she needed to help with the lifting, even though she has a doc note. Then one said that she wouldn’t bother to come if she could not do the job. This after 4 straight months of Fridays, and an hour and a half of sorting stuff that no one wanted to do.

AND the O key has broken off our laptop and messed up the p as well, so our typing speed is way down.

*sigh* only seven days ’till dad comes home.

Hmmm!…So much for only speaking in Haiku!…grunt!…Sounds like someone is getting a bum-rap at the volunteer place!…snort!… I’d tell that “one” lady to shove her opinions where the sun doesn’t shine Ever and keep it there…heh!

Cook!… Is off the mound….snort!…Maybe we still have a chance to win this game…grunt!… Aaron Cook S-U-C-K-S as a pitcher…sniff!…I’m sure he is an awfully nice guy though…wuffle!

I keep thinking (hoping) that Cook will improve. sigh

We looked up how many miles a 5k is. It is 3.107 miles.

Macy, I’m with Rio on what to tell the volunteer ladies. Their treatment of your mom is really rude and juvenile and something must be sadly lacking in their lives.

    11:48 pm on August 12th, 2011

Why does all the Snowhook happenings happen when I’m not on the blog? Musher’s Mercantile, Fancy Footwear Force and the cookbook are all wonderful ideas and much appreciated. I really can’t thank the Plunderers enough for all the support, and especially after recently finishing the auction.

We plan for approximately 2,000 to 2,500 booties per race season; last year was a little lean in the bootie department and AJ finished the race with just one more set of extra booties for each dog that crossed the finish line. Booties are made of specific material that I will have to special order; for those willing to help with the booties, I can mail you a bootie from last year as a reference for size and design.

Wolfie: Oh, dear, oh, dear. I received a distressed call from Whitey today. He was worried that you are upset with him because of his affections for Sam. He is equally worried that the wonderfluffed Princess herself won’t know that he is sweet on her if he, umm, steps aside. A girl like Sam is bound to have many suitors—it’s just a fact, and such a girl might need the benefit of two escorts at future Plundering events.

Melanie: I will let you know if it looks like the patch will fit on the Stormy Kromer hat once we receive the patches. A girl must have a good hat…

Macy: I echo the ‘sun don’t shine’ sentiment so eloquently stated by Rio. I also throw hugs from Snowhook into the mix.

(whispering) I am so excited. Tomorrow is AJ’s birthday and I was able to get him a birthday present that I know he will love. His MP3 player kicked the bucket—DEAD a couple of weeks ago; he didn’t come out and say it, yet I watched him look at those fancy MP3 players each time we were at the store. Enter my secret stash of leftover laundry money and gift cards I’ve been given over the course of the last several months—all that added together and I only had to dip into our checking account for a small amount. I can’t wait to surprise him!

    My dear Miz Macy
I’m ahangin my head in shame for neglecting you so turrible bad. Ma Hound would jest be furious with me and would tell me that she raised me to be a southern gentleman, not some Yankee hooligan.
So please ma’am- tell thIs ole hound you forgive him for bein too busy
You can call on me for hugs, strictly NOT platonic, any time you want some.
Now, don’t you fret that purty little head of yourn about them old nasty volunteers… You trust me when I say that they ain’t no ladies! (apologies Miz B- that’s jest the way we talk down here). Your mom is one fine lady to do all that she has done and she should tell them old warthogs to “kiss her grits”!
    Forever your own

    12:19 am on August 13th, 2011

Why thank you kindly Miz Rebecca. Shure do hope Miz Macy will look kindly on it. She is jest the sweetest little ole gal I ever took to the submarine races, and I do adore her sassy little ways.
Now on the other subjects of the day – fraid this old dog aint’ much with a sewing machine, but I would sure nuf be happy to donate something to that there Mercantile, and I will let all the kinfolk know that they should be supporting your efforts and buying up them cookbooks. Trust me, my Ant SallyLou could shure use a good cookin’ book. That woman could ruin the taste of a can of beans, jest by opening the lid! I shudder ever time she invites the fambly for Sunday dinner. The things she does to a roasting chicken should not be allowed by law. I do think I would rather have chicken the way Siber fixes it. And don’t get me started about her gravy….unless you have a road that needs paving. Those lumps could fill all the potholes in the AlCan highway and still have some leftover to fill in the glaciers that are meltin.
This is the onliest woman I ever knew who could muck up a box of jello so bad that the company president hisself called her to ask her to please never tell anyone she used their product.
That old rumor about every Southern woman being a great cook – well it jest ain’t so. You jest ask Uncle RayJim and their children – skinniest bunch of people you ever would see. Why, ifn’ you turn RayJim sideways, and tell him to stick out his tongue, he looks jest like a zipper!

Oh, Redbone, it is good to see you on the blog tonight! To quote your Macy on those ocassions she takes to the dark side, “Giggle.”

Wolfie: I love giving gifts and surprise gifts are my favorite! Last year I received a holiday bonus from work and went to a store that sold AJ his mushing parka straight away. I was able to put my bonus and another gift card I recieved and buy him the bibs he wore during the Iditarod. I was so excited for Christmas morning I couldn’t wait—I woke him up at 2am so he could open his gift.

Hey, where is everyone. Oh, that’s right, it’s 3:30 am in the morning. So why am I up at this time, you ask? Inquiring minds want to know. Well, there is this quilt store in nearby (or not so nearby) LaPlata, Maryland, that is having a special sale, 30% off everything in the store, excepting you need to get there between 3:00 am and 4:00 am to qualify for the full 30% discount. (Staff will understand, even if no one else will.). So off mom goes, dragging me and dad in tow as well. It’s a great quilt store, but she really does need to get a life anyhow. Dad at least brought a lot of good treats and he is sitting off in the corner reading Their Wildest Dreams by you-know-who. And they got a great Eagles CD blasting away in the quilt store to keep things lively and awake. Over for now, Wookie.
