“You’ve got an appearance at the Hudson Public Library?” Admin says.

“Yes,” says Spence.

“Six thirty tonight?”

“Yup.”

“That’s Hudson Mass.?”

“Correct.”

“The same Mass. where the Boston Bruins have their home?”

“Your point? As you would say.”

“Game seven, Stanley Cup finals, starts at 8.”

“But they don’t drop the puck till about 8:25. So not to worry.”

“Do I worry?”

“It’s your default mode, if you don’t mind me saying.”

The One Book, One Hudson reading program begins tonight at 6:30 with a visit from the author of this summer’s selection. Spencer Quinn, author of “Dog on It: A Chet and Bernie Mystery,’’ will be at the Hudson Public Library to sign books and talk about his writing.

Does that mean he/they are planning on attending the game? Not sure how close Hudson is. Know Boston won the last game 5-1. Is this the possible final game tonight?

Barb is off to work. She is working double this week. The summer girl had a rough 2 weeks of 20 hour work weeks, so she is on vacation this week. Oh my!

No no Barb. The game is in Vancouver. There is probably already a crowd standing in the street waiting for it.

MagPie, this is the final game. The winner gets the Stanley Cup.

Good morning, Chet, Barb, Maggie, Dawson, B, and everyone else,
We are feeling Tip Top today.

Default mode is something Mom says all the time, and Pop tells her most people don’t understand that term. Apparently, he is wrong, huh?

    Hello Sam.

We think Admin’s bet is looking good right about now, based on the number of goals Boston has scored vs. the number Vancouver has scored in this series.

    Yes, the Bruins will win!!

Okay, I’ve got photos ready for the cookbook, except Melanie’s. I wish she would get her act together.

On the auction side. Send them in folks!

Today is beautiful. The front has gone through so my aches are gone. I think I will actually plant those freaking plants today.

Which brings up . . . Staff, where do you put the cans? In the ground to protect the roots? Around the stem to protect that?

    Thanks.

Cans – Barb puts cans around the small plants to protect the stem and tops from the birds and bunnies. The little creeps still ate some as they grew to the top of the can. Roots will be fine.

Rebecca has put an announcement about the auction on FB. Do you want me to cut and paste it here? When the details are added to the announcement (posted by Snowhook Bella on this blog last night at 11:38), I will cut and paste it to my FB page.

Whaa!! We missed the Melanie Gouild thing. What happened?

You guys are too funny up above. Seriously, we think Weiner should resign, and probably his wife shoud leave him. Why do all these doofuses go to rehab when they get caught? What a crock!

She is a capable, intelligent woman who can do it on her own. However, she is pregnant, and devout, so maybe she is still committed to the marriage. If she stays, is she going to be able to trust? The deceit is probably the worst, plus, his antics seems a little sicko to us.

T&G: Thanks for making all of this MY fault. I KNOW your mom has clay up to her elbows!

    Thanks MagPie about the cans.

Plants are in! The only tomatoes that didn’t come up were Mortgage Lifters. I figure that’s because of the housing market. I had to unbraid the Kentucky Pole Beans and boy did they have some roots! The bunching onions are bunched and the pink honeysuckle seedlings are in a box. They should cascade down onto an old stump.

P.S. Yes, how is Melanie Gould?
    P.S.S. How is Audrey?

Okay about the bathing suit! This needed it’s own post!

YSAS went to the appointment. They picked one suit because the coloring would be perfect. Red and gray. . .
They said, “It’s too bad that one doesn’t fit because the color is perfect.”
He said, “I’m glad you realize it doesn’t fit!” He said it left NOTHING to the imagination>

So he now has a wool tank top suit with short shorts and a loin cloth! The colors aren’t as cool but he feels better about walking around in it.

Yes, Mortgage Lifter is a real name. It is also known as Radiator Charlie, I believe. Back in the Depression, a guy named Charlie created the tomato by crossing a couple of varieties. He sold them for $1.00 each and paid off his mortgage.

Melanie, my M.L. were the most healthy of all the ones I started!

melanie, I put the cans part way into the ground so a metal can edge is sticking up around the stem. That keeps the cutworm from getting at the bottom of the stem just where it is sticking out of the ground.

Pepys used it in a diary entry on January 4, 1668: “I perceive my Lord Anglesey do make a mere laughing-stock of this Act.” And here’s one in a play by Sheridan, 1775: “You’ll be a laughing stock to the whole bench, and a byword with all the pig-tailed lawyers.”

So the patches are rough right now. There are two. The PR person is leaning to where Chet is by himself. We would have to pay for our own patches when it’s decided where to have them done and which one they want to do.

The company the PR person is looking at has done patches for the Iditarod. The Iditarod sled sign will be 13 x 10 inches. The Snowhook team will need 10 to 13 patches for jackets. Plunderers may also get patches, but we will need to know how many people want them and figure away to get the payment together.
The patches for jackets will be about 8 dollars.

First Patch. This is the one the PR person likes . . .

  79. Melanie
    8:09 pm on June 15th, 2011

The second patch is the one Rebecca likes. I think it would cost more. The PR person is concerned about price. The dog on the right would look more like W-L.

So that’s what’s going on with the Patch. The PR person wants to move ahead soon.
The Royal Mum helped with all of this! She’s done patches before.

Oh, we have to do 100% embroidery because it lasts. Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night will stay AJ from the swift completion of his team’s appointed round!

I like Chet alone also. On the book covers both of his ears from the back view are black. I would like to order a patch.

Liz: That sounds logical regarding the origin of laughing stock.

    The strawberries are delish!

  82. Alice M. Johnson
    8:20 pm on June 15th, 2011

Well I really like the one without the sign, but except for the sled and dogs in the distance we don’t know that it is about the Iditarod. I do think the sled should be a bit larger because it is disappearing into Chet’s ear in that one.

I like using the sign. Could you frame the patch with the sign and put the Plunder On under ChettheDog.com?

I think the patches are priced by how many stitches it takes and they can take hundreds of thousands of stitches. 8$ sounds very doable to me.

Off to watch the last game and root for one of them. Heh.

And I think that we should go with the patch that Rebecca likes over my choice. sniff.

  83. Siber-H
    8:21 pm on June 15th, 2011

I most definately like the second one best…the same one Rebecca likes. I think it is very necessary that it says “Iditarod Sled Dog Race”
I am anxious to know what everyone else thinks.
I wonder how much more expensive it would be.
    Thanks Melanie

Melanie, We are sort of leaning towards # 1, and would dieifitely be interested in purchasing one. The first one is just a little less busy.

Liz’s comments on the origin laughing stock sounds logical.

Hockey! Yes Boston has more goals than Vancouver, but only when the games are in Boston. Luongo, the Vancouver goalie, though he falls apart at times, always always has come through when push comes to shove. Push is going to come to shove tonight so even though Boston arguably deserves to win the Stanley Cup, Vancouver will be victorious. I hope.

Patches! I like #2 with Chet & Whitey under the burled arch. The first one is very nice, but it is difficult to see the sled in the distance.

Hockey tonight! We can only hope the home team advantage holds true.

That said – We are signing off early tonight, but will be back in the morning bright eyed and bushy tailed. (too bad about the eclipse not being visible here.

Patches! I love them both. The first one is just what I had envisioned originally but I agree with Siber H. that “Iditarod” needs to be on the patch and getting to that Arch is what it’s all about. I’m not sure if Whitey-Lance should be with Chet watching…isn’t he in the race? If we take W-L out…and move Chet all the way to the right…wouldn’t there just be room to put a dog team going under the arch?
    Boston scores first. Darn it.

Melanie and the Royal’s mum are amazing—not only with designing the patches, but all the coordination with several different parties that is taking place behind the scenes.. Whew!

AJ and I really like both patches. If i had to choose, I like the second one better. To me it looks like our guys, Chet and W.L got to Nome together (in my mind, Chet is part of the team). I can almost hear the conversation between the two which includes phrases like, “Pretty cool, huh,” “…know the way, now…,” “…thought there was mention of tennis balls? No?…,” and “want to do it again?”

With that said, Snowhook will be proud to wear either patch. We are so grateful, we can’t thank you enough.

Speaking of thank yous (not to be confused with youse), the story I still need to write for the writing workshop tomorrow is meant as a gift for one of the Plunderers. I will post it when it’s ready for public consumption.

Patch!… I know which one I want and why, but now is not the time to criticize all the excellent work Melanie and others have done to get the patch in the works…heh!…They are both splendid and worthy of all of us and the Snowhook Team….wheeze!…To bad we can’t have them Both!..snorkel!

Relaxing!…My friend and I decided that after today, which was a very stressful day in oh so many ways, too many for me to count that’s for sure, that we just want to sit back and watch a 1960’s film with Jack Lemmon called, Good Neighbor Sam…heh!…Its about the advertising industry back then and since Mad Men will not be on this season someone here thought it fitting to watch it…snort!

No, I’m still watching…it is the Stanley Cup after all…and I’m half Canadian. Hey! By the way there are more Canadians on the Boston team than there are on the Canucks team. And after all, I’m a Detroit Redwings fan (first) or Minnesota Wild (second). So I won’t cry real tears over this.

Checking in one last time before heading to snoozeville.

Macy – congrats to your Mom – wooowooooo to her for thumbing her nose at orange boxes and moving ahead to better things!
(and we love the kitten and puppy photo too!)

We want an ID BADGE!! Mama says she will wear it when she does the art show in a famous author’s home town so he will know exactly who she is.

Modest bows and thanks for your compliments on the patch ideas. Melanie does amazing work with her photoshop skills, and we had so much fun that day. We’re pretty sure that if the dog team idea is used, there will be a better and bigger image of the team. Remember that these are the “roughs”; that is these were designed to present the picture idea, and with the understanding that there would be more detail added to the one that was finalized as the author’s pick.
We will absolutely order at least one – we may need more since Gilly wants one and Mama wants one too. Basil and Sage want one, but they will only use it to sit on or bat around the room -Gilly and I will wear the on our Service vests with pride.

Wish we could have gone to Hudson, but then again, we had truly hellacious thunderstorms here tonight, so kinda glad Mama was home with us and not out on the road.

Sorry the hockey game isn’t going the way you all want – we don’g give a toot about hockey, but we want our Plundering friends to be happy.

Dear Mom of Tupper and Gilly. All you have to do is to put a picture that you would like on your badge up here on the blog and I will make one for you. Or you can go to the bighugelabs and make your own.

I have been pondering all the wonderful talent we have on this blog. It is amazing. All you have to do is mention something and one of us says. OK, I can do that. We have writers and photographers and artists and designers and editors and actors and just about everything we could ever need. Isn’t it just wonderful? Did you have any idea that this would happen when you first started putting little posts up on the blog? I certainly didn’t.

Hey, y’all! Mom fell asleep on the couch, and now she’s getting ready for bed, so I just have time for a quick hi and goodnight! I keep going back and forth on which patch I like — I can see the arguments for each one. In any case, I like them both, so which ever one is chosen, I’d definitely want one!

Congratulations on finishing your filing class, Macy’s Mom. My Mom says if you want to keep your skills up-to-date while you’re looking for a job, you’re more than welcome to stop by and file the HUGE basket of papers Mom keeps meaning to go through. Especially because my girl is coming home tomorrow — YIPPEE! — and she’s supposed to sleep in the office (as soon as Mom gets around to cleaning it up!) Are you taking some more classes, too?

Oh, and I’m glad you stopped in, too, T&G. You’ve definitely brought some good food and a wicked sense of humor to the blog!

Congratulations to whichever of you were rooting for Boston — and condolences to those who weren’t.

I think that about does it. Goodnight, y’all!!!

We think both patches are great. Our favorite would be #2 because it mentions the race. We hear the conversation Rebecca mentioned clear as a bell. We will definitely want to buy one or both!!

Do y’all realize the new book comes out in 3 months?? Cool!!

Mom wore her ChettheDog badge when she went to see SQ. It is still displayed on one of her bookshelves ready to wear again if he decides to come back to Houston’s Murder by the Book store.

Thank you to all of you that have worked so hard on the cookbook, auction and patches. Sometimes, Mom thinks she is too tired or sleepy to catch up late at night, but once she starts reading the posts, she is wide awake and laughing.

Hey, y’all! Just here for a minute — I was trying to get to sleep when I had a sudden inspiration. Mom and I are working on our auction item together, and I’ve been pondering and pondering what to do for my part. All of a sudden it came to me! I really do my best thinking in bed. But I decided I’d better get up and write it down quickly. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had an amazing thought at night, but it was gone by the next morning!
