Admin: You’re doing a school visit?
Spence: A teacher got in touch with me. She had the whole class reading Dog On It. I’m not sure there’s been much of that – it’s not a kid’s book.
Admin: So you’re curious?
Spence: Yup.
Admin: Killed the cat.
Me: Whoa!
Welcome Majik, Elka, Penny, Lucy, Phoebe, Roady Roadster.

Have fun with the kids today!

Hey! Where’s the NEW Friend of the Month? Maybe a big Poodle with a poufy tail.
7:56 am on June 1st, 2011
Poufy means fierce, right?
Whoa! What is Mr. Ian doing there! Nuff is e-nuff!
8:02 am on June 1st, 2011
Maybe the competition drawer overslept!
8:04 am on June 1st, 2011
Hi, Everybody. Been away and you guys were really verbal so it’s taking time to catch up.
Siber-H – next door to the our rental was a Siber-H rescue and I got licks and tail wags. What a gorgeous animal, and friendly. I also got licks and tail wags from a Shih Tzu (wearing pearls) and a Yorkie and a Lab. Exciting vacation for a Kat.
Later, ‘gators. XOXOXO

Hi (‘n bye) Bluecat!
Hey, has the background picture changed since yesterday? more zoomed in at the edges?
8:29 am on June 1st, 2011
I think he just did that to get a reaction from us. Admin. likes to torture!
Well, we have exciting news, at least for some. BABY GOATIES!
Barb checked her about 5:30 and 6:30, and she looked perfectly normal. No signs of labor. Glanced out to the paddock around 8:00 and couldn’t see her, so we strolled out to the barn, glanced in and there stood a shaky, wet, muddy little baby! She evidently had her right in the dirt, in front of the barn door. Not on all the soft, clean straw inside the barn. Go figure!
Barb made me go back to the house, and she stayed in the barn and had all the fun. She got a towel and cleaned off the little one, a girl, and then stood watch. Good thing she was there, because the 2nd one was not coming the right way. They are supposed to “dive out” both feet first and then the head. This one had 1 foot out, then head, with 2nd leg bent back in. Barb wasn’t sure what to do, but she was a trooper. She took the towel and held the baby, gently turning it to get one shoulder out. Then she actually stuck her fingers in there and moved the 2nd leg out. Then the little guy just slid on out and she caught him in the towel. Hope no one is too squimish!
Mother and babies are doing fine. Sandy is being a great mother, and has bonded with both babies. We have an Ingrid, and maybe a Joey. What do you think?
8:41 am on June 1st, 2011
Wow, Barb, the goaties arrived at last! I like the names.
8:51 am on June 1st, 2011
Greetings to All!
New baby goaties…Yippee! It’s so nice to start the day with happy news!! If I may make a suggestion…I love the name Ingrid, and I love the movie “Casablanca” (Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart) what about Humphrey?
8:54 am on June 1st, 2011
Happy Birthday baby goats!
9:02 am on June 1st, 2011
Just catching up on last night’s blog.
Wolfie: I’m sending good thoughts and prayers out to your boys.
Melanie: The brooch is just gorgeous. Do you know what it is made of?
9:03 am on June 1st, 2011
I like Humphrey too. Very cool. In case you don’t know, Rose, I was thinking Joey, because that is Ingrid’s boyfriend in the Ingrid series. Will run it by Kim when she comes over this morning to check out the little ones. Sandy is special to her, because she bottle raised her and Sandy is more like a friendly family pet.
G & B, think I will read The Search. Went on line and read some reviews. Only concern, is it extremely graphic regarding the serial killings and the boyfriend murder? Not giving away anything here, because that info was in the reviews. Incidently, Bee, there is a web site called a good read.com.
9:13 am on June 1st, 2011
What? Killed the cat? Admin, what’s up with all these cryptic remarks of late? and WHERE IS THE NEW FRIEND OF THE MONTH???
Now that I’m over the shock of seeing Ian’s face again today, I see Barb&Maggie have great news from the farm – twins! We should have paid more attention to picking out boys names. Humphrey, hmmm…
Happy Wednesday to All
9:25 am on June 1st, 2011
Kim is on her way over, and she said she thinks Humphrey is a winner. Thanks, Rose.
Admin meant, we are sure, that curiosity killed the cat, but Chet seems to have a differnt take on that.
9:27 am on June 1st, 2011
Bogart? it contains the letters of the word goat… Great midwifery work by the way, Barb!
9:27 am on June 1st, 2011
Ian! What is Ian still doing here????? We figured our picture would be there by now.
However, Franklin and Mac’s picture is just under Ian’s right now.
We just read thru yesterday’s blog…whew! lots of stuff there. We particularly love that brooch.
Barb and Maggie!!!! Congrats on your new twins, and love to Sandy. We like Joey for the boy.
9:34 am on June 1st, 2011
Okay, well…g’night.
9:43 am on June 1st, 2011
IAN!…WHAT THE HELL!?….snort!grump!sputter!
9:43 am on June 1st, 2011
G’night Liz.
And we agree… Great Midwifery work by Barb!
9:45 am on June 1st, 2011
G’night Liz and good day everyone else.
Chet: I’m sure you would have more restraint than to kill the cat…wouldn’t you?
No Post and No New Friend. I was so looking forward to seeing the Dawson Quilt Square up in the place of honor. I think you look wonderful, Ian, but enough is enough and that’s enough!
9:45 am on June 1st, 2011
Siber: we were surprised that you eat well 2x day. We are fed 2x day and sometimes we eat, and sometimes we can go days without eating. Mom coaxes us, pushes us, puts our nose in our dish, puts raw egg on top. And always we wait to eat supper until she puts Li’l Champs on top. Its our understanding that that is just a husky trait: we are “picky” eaters we are told.
9:51 am on June 1st, 2011
Liz: I like Bogart too!
Good Morning Howlers & Rio
9:53 am on June 1st, 2011
Blue Cat and Dawson too!
10:01 am on June 1st, 2011
I see that Riö has seen Ian’s picture. snicker 🙂
It’s lucky that Chet has friends that are Kats, because the ones he meets on his cases just irritate him to no end!
BABY GOATS!! Barb is brave, Barb is awesome, Barb saved that kid’s life!
Dognabbit, I missed LizF! Shucks. Your last comment was great.
Natasha and Riö, you made me laugh this morning. I just wish I hadn’t been drinking tea at the time.
Redbone Hound: Love your singing, do I hear the twang of banjo in there?
I’ll have to email our puppy owner about the brooch.
Good Morning Everyone! Cool front coming through! YEA!
10:06 am on June 1st, 2011
Way to go Barb. The description was not too squeamish, especially for fans like we are of the PBS series All Greatures Great and Small. Over the years of the show, there were a number of scenes like the one Maggie described. I think Barb handled as well as Dr. Herriot would have, had he been there. I kind of like Joey too (Ingrid and Joey being from the Echo Falls series). Humphrey or Bogart just seems too formal for a goat, or even a goatee. Wookie
10:12 am on June 1st, 2011
Melanie: That is a fantastic brooch. Very unique. All I can make out of the signature is Rui… I hope Dan is on the mend. The pool sounds like great fun on those hot days.
Barb and Maggie: Yaaay! Finally, baby goats. Good job being a mid-wife, Barb.
Wolfie: That is great news about the boys. Thank you for the update. Go boys go.
I have to get ready for a conference today. A beautiful sunny day to be spent inside. Crapola.
10:14 am on June 1st, 2011
Rio and Siber, looks like both of our teams got smoked last night. However, we should point out that our team is still way on top of the standings!
10:14 am on June 1st, 2011
Melanie — Could you please please send the cool front our way. Still in the mid-90s here today, and our cool front, which is supposed to arrive tomorrow, is the upper 80’s. Not much of a cool front at all, if you know what I mean. Especially for those of us with double fur coats.
I had chemo treatment number 13 yesterday, just three more to go. There was a bit of a concern after treatment number 12 (two weeks ago) that my lymph nodes had gotten bigger again, but it seems as though that was just a normal variation in the lymph nodes, and they are back to their normal size and my blood values have all been good throughout, so it appears as though that was a false alarm. We did find out though that, while doggy chemo does not cause you to lose you hair/fur like in humans, it can accelerate the shedding of your winter undercoat in spring/summer, so we are awash in dog hair at the moment. Good thing mom has a super-duper vaccuum cleaner. I’m also getting brushed a bit more than I would like, but it is always followed by yummy treats, so it’s not so bad. Wookie
10:14 am on June 1st, 2011
B&M: I’m glad you liked my suggestion!
Thanks for filling me in on the Ingrid series, too.
Bogart is kinda cool as well, especially since LizF pointed out that the word goat can be found in the name. Seems like some of the others like it too.
Decisions, decisions….
10:22 am on June 1st, 2011
How interesting that Spence is visiting a school. I wonder what grade it is. Please let us know more details tomorrow.
The full rhyme: Curiosity killed the cat. Satisfaction brought him back…as a rat.
10:24 am on June 1st, 2011
I think Barb is wonderful! Is there a masculine form of “Barbara?” I think that goat should be named after her.
Yes! Bluecat is back.
Good morning all.
10:31 am on June 1st, 2011
Well, I;m off to Sam’s house. Tonight Mom is on Race Committee, which is the group that runs sailboat races. She used to crew which was a lot of fun, but she likes running the races even better. You see, she has a bossy streak.
10:32 am on June 1st, 2011
Wookie: That is good news. I’m very glad.
Barb: I’m aware of that book site because I’m a member. I’m going to write to its president to see if they will change the name….at least add “ing.”
By the way, I like Bogart as a name as well.
Bear: About putting the story of Astrid on dishlickers (that’s what you meant, right?), the case hasn’t been solved yet. Spence is probably so busy that he can’t think about it. I could put the outline/questions of the case on dishlicker.
10:38 am on June 1st, 2011
Wookie, you sure are a trooper. Way to go!
And Mom says that if our undercoat went any faster than it is, she would have to move out to make room for all the fur to take over.
As for this heat, after the front passes, the humidity will be gone as well, so high 70s and low 80s will feel very good we think.
10:42 am on June 1st, 2011
tee hee, Funny post today, Chet. I get your cat joke. I don’t care what ages the kids are, having Dog On It read to them will be good for them. As kid, mom would have been thrilled to have that book read to her instead of some of the crap the teachers chose.
10:42 am on June 1st, 2011
Wookie:
As a human who has had cancer, I’m pulling for you and sending you much love!
10:42 am on June 1st, 2011
Here’s a link to an NYTimes story about a NY hotdog “restaurant” opening in LA. Don’t know how they compare to Hebrew Nationals.

10:47 am on June 1st, 2011
Wookie: That’s great news about your blood values and I’m grateful to hear your lymph nodes are doing okay as well. You are being a real trooper throughout this whole process, Wookie, but we knew you would be. You are the best.
10:57 am on June 1st, 2011
Congratulations to Barb & Maggie, glad to hear the Mr. Wigglebutt’s boys are taking steps in the right direction, and always thinking of Wookie, the new spokesperson for Dyson 🙂

For Twig’s Friend:
This Little Twig Ran Wee, Wee, Wee all the way to Nome
“Come along, little girl,” he whispered to the strawberry blonde pup as he scooped his ungloved hands under her collar, “Back you go.” Leading her back to a team position, to the middle of the pack to run alongside Rowdy, an experience sled dog and a mentor of many pups, she refused.
Pulling free, “No. If it’s all the same to you, I will be running lead today,” she seemed to call over her shoulder as she ran to the front of the team and stood next to her mother, Annabelle. “Hi, mama.”
It was not the first time he tried to hook up the young yearling that day. In fact, it was the third time that morning as he prepared to run that the scene was repeated. With the rest of the team harnessed and hooked, he knew that it was a matter of time before lines would be chewed, harnesses would be shredded and manners would long be forgotten.
Brass clip cold in his fingers, he hooked the lead tug line to the back of her harness, “Okay, little Twig, have it your way.” With the pull of the snowhook on that morning’s run and in her first celebratory strides down the snowy trail, Twig’s claim on the lead position would be staked solidly for the team and musher to accept.
As a yearling, Twig along with her brother Quigley had been placed in team, the middle of the pack to learn the life of a sled dog, but she and she alone decided that it was her time to be a leader. No need to look back, her mind was made up.
And so, it was no surprise that the nose of the strawberry blonde leader was the first of the team to cross under the burled arch in Nome.
11:02 am on June 1st, 2011
Wookie, great news!! We are all with you in this. You are our special guy.
Bluecat, There you are! I missed you.
Fellow Siberians, I am in the minority of Siberians when it comes to my eating habits. Before mom adopted me, Rescue told her I was a good eater. Mom went, “whew”. Since I have lived here, I think mom has forgotten about Sibers being picky eaters, because they are.
The Rockies are creating their own history of getting smoked…bah humbug
Barb, You did good! Real good!! All mom knows about that stuff is from watching All Creatures Great and Small and reading the books.
11:09 am on June 1st, 2011
Good morning everyone. Sorry to have been out of the loop last night. After doing the show for the weekend, and then working at Crazy Lady Land yesterday, Mama just fell out. So we are catching up now – my gosh 38 posts ALREADY this morning. Guess its a good thing that Rio can get to the dark side without too much trouble anymore, cuz we think we might be there early today!
Barb! Congratulations for being Midwife of the Month! We like all the suggested names. hmmmm Maybe you are going to need to have more baby goaties.
Wookie – great news, and we are pulling for you!
Wolfie – we are with you and will be hopeful for continued sucess and rehab for your boys.
Nattie is back! So she was in NY with Spence, huh? Wonder if she got any new hats. (We kind of expected her to be down at the Kentucky Derby, absconding with some of those horrific creations.)
Mama is part of Bee’s Corkscrew Club – only her’s is self inflicted with a perm. Given the option of flat, straight hair or hair that gets “fierce” in humidity….
(right MollyPop?)
And why do we have to keep looking at Ian??? Please don’t say that the random generator picked him again!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
11:10 am on June 1st, 2011
That is a lovely story about how Twig became a lead dog. Wow!
She is a strawberry blonde! hmmm Woo Woo
11:11 am on June 1st, 2011
Wöökie, I remember those days down there. Weren’t there the three “H”s. Hot, Humid and something . . .
We have been in the mid to high 80’s but our nights have been in the 50’s. Humidity got better right after I took YSAS to the train. hmmm. . .
We’re to be in the 70’s for the next few days. YES! I will try to send it down your way, but I think the wave started up near Dawson (Hi Dawson!), and she will just have to make sure the next one has more umph behind it.
Ahhh, a cool wonderful breeze (story) from Bella. Hmmm. Bella have you checked your secret decoder device for a message?
11:16 am on June 1st, 2011
Hey! We are NOT amused by the use of that hackneyed phrase about curiosity, a natural instinct of Kats, contributing to their demise.
Go on and catch your own dam mice if thats the way you feel!
So there!
11:30 am on June 1st, 2011
Basil and Sage, we are with you. We don’t get the joke…and we dare Siber to ‘splain it to us.
11:31 am on June 1st, 2011
Snowhook: We love that story about how Twig claimed the Leader position. And Siber, you have to stop trying to get every girl in your grasp. That strawberry blonde would much prefer cool, wise Dima we think.
11:42 am on June 1st, 2011
Glad to hear that you are almost at the end of treatment, Wookie, and that you are doing so well. Barb has a 2 legged friend that has been going through chemo treatment for Lymphoma, and she lost all her hair, and has been very tired. Happy that your’s was more of a shedding problem.
Did anyone read the Nora Roberts book that G & B recommended?
Staff, I don’t think you were all that late with putting out your tomatoes. We did ours about 10 days ago, and they are doing great. Something has been eating off some of the beans as they emerge from the ground. It might be birds, so now we have plastic bags tied to sticks in the garden. I don’t allow any furry critters in the yard, so that is why Barb is suspecting the winged thieves.
11:51 am on June 1st, 2011
Barb & Maggie, We planted green beans, and they did not come up (or did they?) … everything else in our garden is fine: peas, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, squash, cucumber.
We read some Nora Roberts books, but not the one that G&B mentioned.
11:54 am on June 1st, 2011
Wookie! As Dawson says, you are the Best!!!
T&G: Good Dog what are you saying…a possibility of Ian being picked AGAIN? But, No the F/b page remains the same also the last time we looked.
Basil&Sage: Masquers agrees-curiosity and kats go hand in hand. No need to made funnies about it.
B: Yes, that is what we meant yesterday-our own stories to treasure (the marauding goats a personal favorite) As to that new hotdog joint in LA – Pink’s Hot Dogs on La Brea can’t be beat!
Rebecca; Your story brings a smile to our day!
Hey to Siber-H and MollyPop! Try to stay cool.
12:15 pm on June 1st, 2011
Oley, When did you plant the green beans? They like warm soil, so if you plant early they usually rot in the ground. The birds seem to get them right after they uncurl, and then they leave a little bit of the stalk sticking out of the gound. Everything else is gone. We just stuck some more long branches in the ground with a little piech of bright orange warning tape tied to them. Hope this will work.
12:15 pm on June 1st, 2011
Buddy and TC, I can’t explain the joke because I would get in TROUBLE.
Hi Dawson! We are finally getting the tv show Ice Pilots here.
12:28 pm on June 1st, 2011
Bee, Only thing that comes to mind is Barbarian, but not sure that is fitting.
We like all the names suggested, so we might have to go with Humphrey Joseph (Joey) Bogart. We didn’t realize till Liz pointed it out that goat is in Bogart.
12:35 pm on June 1st, 2011
Not that it matters, but I think Joey goes with our Ingrid. She isn’t the ‘Bergman’ Ingrid. But Barb is the one who gets to choose.
I did just reread the three Ingrid books a few weeks ago when I was having the stomach flu. They are great! I wish he would write some more. I like Ingrid.
12:53 pm on June 1st, 2011
Rebecca: Twig is my kind of lady! Thank you for posting the story.
I’m going to see if I can find the origin of the cat rhyme.
1:12 pm on June 1st, 2011
I found this explanation to curiosity and cats. The Proverb started as “care killed the cat” (care meaning sorrow). Cats do seem curious. It became a lesson for children: If you’re curious you could be hurt.
I’d suggest that it is connected to sound. The “c” in “care” and “curiousity” has the “k” sound just as the “c” in “cat.” Thus, it is a good device for alliteration. Also “cat” rhymes with so many words in English.
http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/curiosity-killed-the-cat.html
1:15 pm on June 1st, 2011
B.Stover: I never knew there was another part to that!
Just been in the dog pool! I was fully dressed, on purpose, The Pack tends to swim at you right now, and we’re working on swimming with you. So the clothes are for accidental claws. Things to note: The Filter does a great job. Cleans up all that dog hair. Then they get it in again and MORE dog hair!
Definitely a shower moment . . .
1:30 pm on June 1st, 2011
Rio:
I’m sorry your friend will not let you visit me. We would have had a great time together. 🙁
Can’t wait ’til your picture comes!
1:34 pm on June 1st, 2011
Barb&Magpie: How about Bogy for short?
Rebecca: I just realized Twig is Dog of the Month on the Snowhook Calendar. That girl definitely has a mind of her own!
Staff: We’re with you – wish PA would continue the Ingrid books.
Where did Rio go? He was pretty p’oed this morning (can’t say I blame him!)
1:51 pm on June 1st, 2011
Hey Bee – we got your alliteration for ya. How about:
“Hogwash horrifies humans” ?
Think if we get that to be an oft quoted lesson for little ones, the next generation won’t be subjected to arrogant politicians, televangelists, and “reality” tv?
1:52 pm on June 1st, 2011
Let’s all vote for more Ingrid! Love that girl.
1:54 pm on June 1st, 2011
B&M: We planted the beans same time as tomatoes, peppers, squash, etc. Mothers Day weekend which is the time everyone plants around here.
Siber, do not pay any attention to Buddy and T.C. Especially Buddy who thinks he is one of us. He is NOT.
We agree with Staff, that Joey is much more in keeping with the Ingrid we all (now) know. Did we tell you that we are now reading Down the Rabbit Hole, finally. We love it!
B: How can care kill a cat? Should we start caring more about Buddy?
Bear: Thanks for pointing out that Twig is Dog of the Month. “Take a good look at this face” !
2:20 pm on June 1st, 2011
Unfair!….Ian Is really pissing me off today. This is NOT his month anymore…grump! …Its June 1st and the Rockies are going to start winning because IAN would be gone dammit!….sniff!… Now all that is jinxed…grunt! … Did the guy on Facebookie change?…snort!
2:31 pm on June 1st, 2011
I’m watching “Invisible Invaders”, but will have to shut things down in a minute or two. I can hear a storm coming.
NYC is under TORNADO WATCH!
2:35 pm on June 1st, 2011
NYC!….Thank Dog I am not sitting on Rose’s couch waiting to be destroyed in the storm….grunt!
2:40 pm on June 1st, 2011
We are under a tornado watch here too, Melanie. Scary. How on earth would Pop make it into the cellar on crutches?
2:41 pm on June 1st, 2011
Hey Spencer just replied to us on FB: “Just taking a little time to get the random # generator working!”
Are we buying that ?
2:42 pm on June 1st, 2011
Spence is trying to be sure that randomness is secured by ensuring a Kat wins this month.
2:51 pm on June 1st, 2011
Hack!….If The Fabulous Baker Boy wrote the code for the random generator, then I completely believe it…heh!
2:53 pm on June 1st, 2011
Howlers: As I wrote in my earlier post, “care” meant “sorrow.” My suggestion would be that you leave the cats alone.
Basil and Sage: Depends how you define “hogwash.”
2:54 pm on June 1st, 2011
Buddy: You wish! One of us is going to be top dog. I am sure of it.
You guys with tornado warnings stay safe!
2:58 pm on June 1st, 2011
Basil and Sage: I suppose it also depends how you define “horrify” since all humans don’t seem to be affected by the things in your list. One human’s hogwash is another human’s shampoo??? I stopped trying to figure this type of thing out a long time ago.
3:00 pm on June 1st, 2011
Fellow Siberians, Tell your pop to get in the center of the house or a bathtub with a matress over him and the three of you.
What you decide to do with the two kats is your decision.
I don’t ever remember NYC being under a tornado watch before.
3:02 pm on June 1st, 2011
Rio: You would be sitting on my lap, getting a wonderful massage. I would NEVER, EVER let anything bad happen to you!
3:04 pm on June 1st, 2011
Rio:
My home is not in NYC. I live in the lovely Westchester suburb of Croton-on-Hudson…
3:05 pm on June 1st, 2011
B&M:
With all the name suggestions, is there a final decision?
3:07 pm on June 1st, 2011
Someone turned off the outside lights. Its very dark….
And thanx for worrying about us Siber.
3:26 pm on June 1st, 2011
Mom is now saying that it might be too much wind for a sailboat race. It could snap the masts. Mom will go down to the Buffalo Harbor soon so we’ll see. Sam was so funny – she rooted around in Moms sailing bag and found the chap stick. Mom caught her ha ha.
3:28 pm on June 1st, 2011
Buddy&TC: Masquers here-Stay safe!
3:32 pm on June 1st, 2011
Rio: SiberH is correct. No tornadoes or tsunamis here.
All those under tornado watches, please be safe!!!
3:33 pm on June 1st, 2011
Wonder why Sam loves chapstick so.
3:52 pm on June 1st, 2011
Everyone be safe and careful. We read about two guys in Sports Illustrated who got in the bathtub and put a matress over themselves. They survived, even tho the house pretty much disappeared around them.
Oley, we were wondering about planting time, because we have tried on occasion, to jump the gun a little to try to get an early start with the beans. It never works for us. You should have been fine if you planted with all those warm weather things. Maybe you do have something eating them. We are not having anymore damage since we put up all the plastic wavey stuff. They even eat one of the zuchinni plants.
Rose I think we will call him Joey, in honor of the Echo Falls
books. His formal name can be Humphrey J. Bogart, Joey for short. Not sure if a goat needs a formal name.
3:54 pm on June 1st, 2011
Hey! Did anybody check out Chet’s new friends today. We are wondering about that Majik. Whats up with him?
4:07 pm on June 1st, 2011
Rose, Dima thought he knew where Croton-on-Hudson is, since he traveled that way on his way to Massachusetts. But after looking at the google map, it turns out the place he knew is Castleton-on-Hudson. He stayed at a very nice dog-friendly B&B between Saugerties and Woodstock. And then up 87 to the bridge at Croton-on-Hudson, which his Mom likes much better than the Tappan Zee.
4:12 pm on June 1st, 2011
Oley:
The Tappan Zee is a nightmare! The Prof and I never take that bridge if we don’t have to!
My town is located right by the Hudson. The major roads by where I live are Routes 9A and 9. I live about 10 minutes away from Bear Mountain…The Bear Mountain Bridge is very nice. The Prof and I have walked across it.

Majik looks an awful like a cat to me! And that Roady looks like an English Shepherd, my breed. He is a mighty handsome guy. Maybe he will come by and say hey to us. Not like that snoot, Ian!
4:14 pm on June 1st, 2011
Dima also loved the town of Woodstock. Very dog-friendly town, and he especially loved their ice cream shop. He is the only one of us to have a Big Adventure. We are hoping some day we might have a similar adventure.
4:20 pm on June 1st, 2011
(whispering) Roady is good-looking. But lets not call Spence’s attention to other non-Plundering dogs at this time.

I have gotten cook book pictures to fix and then send on to LizF (snail mail) from the following people:
MollyPop
OlleyHowlers
Staff
B. Stover
TYB
Please send me pictures of food, or of four footeds, or just a picture you want in the cookbook.
Thanks

Tornado in Springfield, Mass.
Stay safe everyone!
5:48 pm on June 1st, 2011
Wow, that’s just an hour or so away. My sister (15 minutes away) has lost power. She saw ambulances and a huge truck for cutting up trees go up the street.
We has hail stones the size of golf balls!
5:49 pm on June 1st, 2011
Melanie: We will send our picture for the cookbook today.
5:51 pm on June 1st, 2011
Yikes! Melanie, Stay inside!
6:09 pm on June 1st, 2011
B&H: Joey is a fine name!
Melanie: Please be careful and stay safe!
6:13 pm on June 1st, 2011
We are okay. T & G’s mum and family are okay for now. But they are under Tornado Warnings . . .
6:25 pm on June 1st, 2011
T&G’s family has another storm coming their way.
One tornado hit about 20 miles from them and then the same system but another tornado down about 30 miles from them.
Keeping our eyes on the radar. Hard to get in touch with them right now, because the phone (both land and cell) is over loaded.
6:34 pm on June 1st, 2011
Yikes, Melanie and T&G be careful!
The front has passed by us and no storms here. Heard some thunder far off..that was it. Now we are waiting for this heatwave to break finally.
6:37 pm on June 1st, 2011
Be careful, everyone!
If my photo gets drawn, I would like to have a signed copy of The Dog Who Knew Too Much. Mom already has a signed copy of TFAT. We don’t mind waiting.
I’m just saying…….
6:40 pm on June 1st, 2011
Looks like it’s going to be another one of those nights. We are on alert for updates from everyone in the storm warning area – O.Howlers, Melanie, T&G and the Herb Kats. (I think Rose said they are okay in NYC area) Power outages will be raising havoc with communications.
6:45 pm on June 1st, 2011
Goodness, they already have a youtube of the tornado.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5plBdPBNj8
6:49 pm on June 1st, 2011
I have to tell you folks. Those kinds of tornados just don’t happen here. . .
Hmmm. Guess we’ll have to rethink THAT!
6:49 pm on June 1st, 2011
Melanie: Please ignore the first email from AOL. I sent another from gmail which came through. AOL can be really annoying sometimes when dealing with attachments.
O.Howlers: I see you are safe. Good news!
6:52 pm on June 1st, 2011
Melanie: Thank dog you are okay. The tornado in Mass. has been the top news story.
T&G: Be careful!!!
Bear: We did have a tornado warning for sections of lower Westchester, but the system did not pass over. We are, however, expecting some severe thunderstorms, which will bring a cool front for tomorrow. It is extremely hot and humid right now.
6:54 pm on June 1st, 2011
B: Today is a Brillo hair day. Is your hair in corkscrew mode?
7:09 pm on June 1st, 2011
While I was watching the tornado video I saw this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzHy2bmd8HY&NR=1
7:12 pm on June 1st, 2011
That video was frightening! We are well past all storms here now. Time to put horses out and muck those stalls. bbl
7:16 pm on June 1st, 2011
Snicker, I watched that one too, BSD. I’m going to try T&G again.
7:18 pm on June 1st, 2011
Rose: Sorry about the Brillo pad. Today is very nice here. Temp is 77 and humidity is only 32% so my hair is in normal mode. It’s breezy and the sun is out.
I hope everyone in the east is okay.
7:21 pm on June 1st, 2011
T&G’s mum says another thunderstorm is coming their way. What she is concerned about is there is NO air moving.
She’ll get in touch when all of this goes through.
7:25 pm on June 1st, 2011
They just had a video of the tornado in Boston on the Weather Channel. Spence lives on the ocean front somewhere there I think. I hope things start calming down. If you have one, go in the basement.
7:36 pm on June 1st, 2011
B.Stover: Spence lives on the Cape. Further south . . . Looks like the storms might break apart before they hit there. We have a puppy on the Cape. They are hunkering down just in case. We’ve heard from two friends in the area, they are okay. We are still waiting to here from someone right where the tornado hit.
Now for something uplifting!

7:45 pm on June 1st, 2011
B: Wish I was there! With cooler weather in store for the rest of the week, the Brillo should be more manageable.
Well, I’m off to catch up on some reading (SILENT MERCY by Linda Fairstein).
Be safe everyone!
Good night, and don’t let the bedbugs bite!
7:45 pm on June 1st, 2011
Thanks Melanie. Do you guys have basements?
7:52 pm on June 1st, 2011
Stay safe, everyone.
What are Li’l Champs?
7:54 pm on June 1st, 2011
CRAP!!!!
No air moving, yellow sky and thunder in the distance. Storm track radar showing a bad storm headed this way. Downtown area has a live cam that is showing a sky that could have been in the Wizard of Oz.
We are heading for the basement with all the two and four leggeds. (Mama has been thru enough tornados in Oklahoma and out west that she is more than just a little nervous.)
Hopefully will be back after this passes…
yikes!!! That was a bad one….outta here!!!
8:03 pm on June 1st, 2011
T&G’s family has a basement.
So do we. We have out route planned out . . . get lots of treats, gather dogs, put on leashes, go to West Wing, grab the flashlights waiting there and go downstairs to the basement. I think I will also grab the external hard drive!
Just found out that my acupuncturist wife was down where the tornado was. She is okay, but not moving until the next cell goes through.
8:33 pm on June 1st, 2011
Waiting up to make sure everyone is okay…
8:41 pm on June 1st, 2011
Whew – ok universe…thats quite enough for today.
Thank Dog we are back to lightly moving cooler air and a pink, sunset sky.
Melanie and the PAck are ok too. Boy, what a day THIS has been!
8:41 pm on June 1st, 2011
Our area is fine now. I’ve talked to almost everyone we know. One we haven’t been able to get a hold of, but there are a lot of people without electricity in that area.
Whew, that was tiring. Headed for bed.
Thanks for all the good thoughts!

Storms!….Oh my, now I am even worried about my East Coast friends and I usually don’t worry about anyone but myself…snort!… Thank goodness they all have basements or bathtubs with mattresses attached….grunt! ….Take cover everyone!… sniff!
8:53 pm on June 1st, 2011
Heh!…Looks like the nasty storm has passed over everyone…whew! Snorkel!…It’s a good thing I showed up or you all would be toast…sniff!
9:04 pm on June 1st, 2011
Rio – you are our hero! If only we had known that all we had to do to survive the storm was to call in SUPER PUG!…
tee hee
9:05 pm on June 1st, 2011
Just checking in to make sure everyone is o.k. Sounds like the storms have passed everyone.
Liz: Li’l Champs are pouches of wet dog food…probably no good. But we love the taste on top of our dry kibble.
Good nite. Hope Ian is packing his bags.
9:08 pm on June 1st, 2011
Well!…There you go Tuppence!…heh! …The weather has no control over me…sniff!
9:12 pm on June 1st, 2011
I’m glad all is well. Thanks for letting us know.
9:14 pm on June 1st, 2011
So glad our friends are OK out east. Pretty scary there for awhile.
We are going to close up the barn and read for a bit before bed. Time for some light stuff after Unbroken. We have Killer Blonde, one of the Jaine Austen series.
See you all, and hopefully a fresh face upabove in the a.m.
9:15 pm on June 1st, 2011
Goodness what a night. Glad all it well with the Easterners. Thank Dog Rio came back.
9:18 pm on June 1st, 2011
Wow! I missed a lot today. Glad everyone is safe.
9:23 pm on June 1st, 2011
Game!…Now that the weather problem is solved, there is still the fact that IAN is lurking around pretending to be Friend of the Month yet….grunt!…He is probably ruining any chance that the Rockies have of winning over the Dodgers tonight…huffle!
News!…So I have some news regarding my house, the one we do not live in right now….snuffle!… First the realtor has not gotten back to us about a selling price. She needs to do a “Full Analysis”…grunt!… In the meantime we have learned that our neighbor where the “other” Pepper lives is thinking of renting his house too and living with his long-time girlfriend just down the street…snort!… This is not good news if my friend decides to rent. Don’t ask me why…sniff!… The other news is her other neighbor, the one she loves and adores and who is the proud owner of the Sic-A-More tree that hangs over my house and causes my friend such misery, was telling my friends mom that he needs to get THAT TREE CUT DOWN…heh!heh!…Because it is sick with some virus and is not doing well at all…heh!heh!heh!heh!woooo!… Maybe the Lord of All Creation has finally heard our prayers and that tree will be stricken dead very soon!…snort!snort!…Maybe we can go HOME!…wooooo!… Paws and Prayers for the latter…wuffle!
10:11 pm on June 1st, 2011
Whatever!….The game is gonna start real soon and that Ubaldo is pitching…grump!… I’m sorry, but we have lost all of our confidence in him after two months…sniff!… I just hope the Defense is up to snuff to catch all the fly balls. They can’t control all the walks though..huffle!…Please, Ubaldo, please snap out of you funk!!!…grunt!
10:18 pm on June 1st, 2011
Best of luck Rio, that sounds like the best outcome of all. That plus noone has been sucked up to the land of Oz (the imaginary one, that is).
Oley, thanks. That sounds like the sort of food Cricket likes – i.e. the one with flavour.
10:26 pm on June 1st, 2011
Home!…Well, she is not as excited as I thought she would be…sniff!…Something about getting out from under a mortgage and yadda yadda…grunt!…I give up trying to guess where I will be. Just so long as I have my warm soft bed with my baseball toys and I get three or four square meals a day…sniff!… That’s all I really care about. Oh! plus internet and tv access 24 /7 …heh!
10:52 pm on June 1st, 2011
Barb and Maggie. Mom and dad are reading Killer Blonde too. Great minds read alike. My dad has also started Until Tuesday (thanks again BSD) which he reads on the subway to/from work. He is still fairly early on in the book, but just loves it so far. Highly recommended.
Rio, keep the faith. I have a feeling this just could be Ubaldo’s night to shine. Let’s hope so. Wookie
10:57 pm on June 1st, 2011
Wookie!….Since you mentioned The Game, the Rockies are up 2 – 0 with Ubaldo pitching…heh!… Maybe..sniff!…maybe….. ((sigh)) ….HEY! Just now HOME RUN by the old guy Todd Helton!…Woooooo!heh!
11:06 pm on June 1st, 2011
Ubaldo is so far looking like the Ubaldo we once knew and loved…
paws crossed
The Rockies are so great on defensive plays and they are so graceful.
Woo Woo Todd!
11:30 pm on June 1st, 2011
Wish I could stay up and watch more of the game, but we have to get up even earlier than usual in the morning. The Rockies are actually htting the ball tonight.
I am very thankful that all of you are safe from the storms.
night all
11:30 pm on June 1st, 2011
Rio, you need to have Wookie’s ‘blessing’ on every game. Hope the magic continues.
Goodnight everyone. Stay safe tonight.
11:44 pm on June 1st, 2011
Toodle-Pug!… We are (ahem) going to listen to the rest of the game in bed with the radio…snort!…She will check the score in the morning and we both hope they do not Blow It!…grunt! ..Good night!
