No Post Today (Revised)

“Technical difficulties?” says Admin. “I thought we were all cured.” Then comes a stream of words I won’t put here.

“How about I email MB?” says Spence.

Admin stomps off.

“On the other hand,” says Spence, now speaking just to me, “considering some of the other things happening in the world right now, this really is not too bad.”

That Spence!

Hi Rose, Chet and Kirby T: It’s PI day 3.14 and etc.

    To celebrate:

Good morning, Melanie. That was a great song, but I’m not sure what the music had to do with pie. (And by the way, I don’t want to embarrass you, but you spelled Pie Day wrong.) And now I’m hungry — gotta go find some pie!

Good morning, Rio! I’m so glad to see you’re in such a good mood this morning! Let’s see that great big smile we all love so much!!!

Mood!….How come everyone is in such a good mood today?….growl!….I’m with Admin. I want to stomp around and kick something. I can’t stand to read the news, it’s all so horrible. …huffle!

  10. Kirby T. Penworthy
    10:17 am on March 14th, 2011

Sorry, Rio. The news is horrible, but being in a bad mood isn’t going to fix anything. The only thing you can fix is yourself!

  11. B.Stover
    10:18 am on March 14th, 2011

Both Spence and Admin are correct. Admin has no patience with inefficiency and Spence can put our problem into perspective. I agree with Rio also. I hate daylight savings time. How can you all get up so early?? At least the sun is out here and the birds are really singing.

Good morning Chet, Admin, Spence and everyone.

  12. Siber-H
    10:54 am on March 14th, 2011

Couldn’t post for awhile because it wouldn’t scroll down…strange blog bug. Spence is right when he says that compared to what is going on in the world, this is no biggie.

Iditarod update: AJ and the team are moving up the Yukon River. The wind will be in their faces, but that is to be expected on this stretch of the trail. They have 32 miles to go until they reach Kaltag where they will leave the Yukon and head West for the coast.
Wattie is running about 8 miles behind them now.

We experienced same problem that Siber had. 10 min. ago could not scroll down, now we can. Hope they get this fixed today.

    Good morning, everyone!

Good morning all. It is snowing in Japan right now. It is heartbreaking.

    Bee, you are very wise.

  15. dawson
    11:17 am on March 14th, 2011

Good cloudy morning with snow…it is about 10 degrees (F). I feel like I’m in a huge snow globe that someone has shaken. The snow is really piling up. Siber H. would have a great time in the back yard. Set my clocks to the politically correct time.

Oh! I just checked and my post from last night is there (surprised it’s not there three times as I was getting frustrated and punching buttons like mad) so I won’t repeat

Melanie: The pi song is excellent. It would be a great one to listen to while I do my de-stress breathing exercizes.

I don’t want to turn on the news today…not yet.

B.Stover: I read some Ovid yesterday. Very little, actually. He does go on.

  16. Kirby T. Penworthy
    11:23 am on March 14th, 2011

So long, y’all! Mom has to go now so I’ll be turning off the computer for awhile. I hope everyone — Plunderers and sled dogs — has the best day they possibly can. And for the people and dogs in Japan, I wish many more rescues and whatever rays of hope they can find.

  17. Mollie (a black poodle)
    11:33 am on March 14th, 2011

I agree with Spence, Admin., Rio & B. By the time we are used to Daylite time, it is time to go on Standard time…

Dawson: Good idea, I vote to have Sundays with Astrid.

Klepto-Cat: He is one of a kind. I did not believe it until I saw the night picture. I guess no one has asked for their things back, esp. the underwear…

  18. B.Stover
    11:39 am on March 14th, 2011

    Very nicely put Kirby.

Dawson: No no no….Ovid was a real character and most of the Metamorphoses is very interesting. (Perhaps you should read his Art of Love…just kidding!) I’m actually going to digress today and deal with an English language thing on my blog. I blame daylight savings time for not having gotten to it yet.

Wookie: Ask your dad if he remembers Isabella Rose. (Wish I knew how to put the diacritical mark on the final e.)

Sometimes when I refresh now I get the blog on two different screens. Very strange. I couldn’t get to the submit box after my last post until now.

  19. B.Stover
    11:43 am on March 14th, 2011

I can’t get to last night’s posts because there is nothing on the screen to the right. If Dawson suggested Sundays with Astrid I third that!

Mollie: I was wondering why they didn’t keep the klepto cat indoors at night.

I just thought of how to read last night’s posts……

Well, it looks better now. Before it was just blank. That can’t be good. Last week, before the ‘flu go her Mom was at the library and there was To Fetch a Thief, feature in the special New Mysteries display. There were just a few there, so you could not possibly miss it. Here’s a link to the Tasting Table blog. It’s an article about a new drink at Starbuck’s which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. I didn’t realize it had been around that long.

    Good Morning All!

I hope the blog bug thingy has been taken care of once and for all by Admin.

We were up early this am Nana blames the time change (which she blames for most everyting these days) I was just hungry.

Guess you’ve all heard – Rebecca picked up Elim yesterday and he’s back home in front of the fire.

Congrats to Dog Bless You for reaching 100,000 over the weekend!

Hopefully it is fixed. Guess we shouln’t get all poodled up over such small things, when we put it in perspective. Think about those in Japan, and then we realize all fortunate we all are.

Barb is getting ready to leave for work and she is miffed at me. Just because I found a rotten egg out in the chicken yard, broke it open and slurpped it up. Now she is afraid I will get sick, plus she says I smell to high heaven, whatever that means!

Grrrr…I am NOT in a good mood today!! Why do we still even do this time change thing? I have been awake since 3AM, and had to come into work, which wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t work for the Wicked Witch!!!

  30. Riö - The Evil Pug

Grump!…. Is this thing working? Chet’s still testing it….gruffle!

Whitey!…Has anyone heard anything new about Whitey’s team?…snort!

  31. Melanie
    1:52 pm on March 14th, 2011

So now we have two Crazy Ladies, and one Wicked Witch. And the lab rats.

Back from PT and getting a chest x-ray for Dan. I am now cleared to move freely, without cane, unless the dogs are in the house or outside. Snicker. When are the dogs not in the house? But I’m getting there. Still no stairs except one at a time.

We don’t know about Dan’s x-ray yet. Hopefully it has cleared up.

Dan and I had an interesting conversation about Japan this morning.
Can’t remember if in “For the Love of Puppies” Dan writes about being stationed in Japan, but he was there after WWII for over two years. (Zoë, my brother and I were also there.)

We were trying to think if there was a sadder and more profound word than “ironic”.
After the devastation of the bombs on Japan, they started to harness Nuclear power for peaceful uses. As a people and country they were very proud of this taming of a powerful destructive force.

And now, all seems for naught.

Anyone know of a stronger word?

  32. B.Stover

Yup Chet is good at all of those.

Rio: Our now 10 member dog team is headed toward Kaltag, mile 624 of the race. Elim has been collected from the vet and slept through the night and is now eating well again. Whitey-Lance is still in it.
Melanie: The Newfs can move freely…you must move very carefully. I’ll do a happy dance for you. By the way, tell Dan that I think his head of luminescent white hair is awesome.

Rebecca reports Elim definitely on the mend – he’s saying something about cheesecake.

Good picture, Melanie. How does that cat do that? Reminds me of a cat burglar I once knew…

Liz, I don’t think Tester is Chet. Probably Spence taking over after Admin stomped off this morning.

I have been snickering all day!

Now that my mom has medical insurance again, she is eager to get started back on allergy shots. The shots really help her with her allergy symptoms. Allergist says she has to take a different blood pressure med cause it’s a Beta blocker, and if she were to have a reaction to an allergy shot they would give epinepherine, and the Beta blocker would block it. (HUH!) Of course, the doc wants to see her to switch meds, so, she gets up an hour later today than normal and gets to the doctor’s office at 8:15 only to be told that her appt is next week Monday, not today. Heh, heh, heh! Goofy way to start the week, I’ll tell ya. Me? I slept through it all.

Mom isn’t leaving for Florida until next week. Yesterday I managed to post a bit but gave up in frustration. Today was visiting with friends and shopping. Mom has lots of visiting lined up for this week and a couple of doctor visits too.

I know Spence wants to have us put the blog bugs in perspective with what’s going on in the world, but I don’t live “relatively” I live “absolutely” and I don’t have to eat more food because dogs are starving somewhere else.

  56. LizF

Molly!… I’m with you. I live absolutely too. If something worse comes along I will deal with that, but yesterday and this morning it was Chet’s blog, and a stupid HOUR taken away from me that I was concerned about…grunt!…Now, dammit to hell, I have to go on walks again because there is MORE DAYLIGHT!…grump!….It’s just not fair… stomp!sniffle!stomp!

My two cents on Daylight Savings Time…I hate it. The government takes away an hour from us in the Spring and then it gives it back to us in the Fall. The studies show that it saves absolutely no energy.
Chet and Bernie don’t have to deal with this because Arizona doesn’t go on DST.

  61. LizF

My two cents – I love daylight savings time. We lose it in two weeks time, which I’m sorry about, but of course we get the extra hour’s sleep that night – hooray!

Siber-H: parts of Indiana don’t either

News from YSAS: After sleeping through his alarm 6 times this morning, missing 4 phone calls, they still let him be on Damages today as an Extra. (The language on that text message to me was unbelievable. He loves being early and is never late. Until now, that is!)

So he did two locations and because he was willing to stay late (to make up hours) he has had a “bump” and is now being a stand in.

The “bump” is not physical, it is a bump in PAY!

And then at 9 pm eastern we are going to do it again. Let’s see if it helps.
You don’t have to mean it laugh, you just have to laugh and if reading this article doesn’t make you want to laugh then just think of Rio chortling away and 8 and 9 pm eastern (Chet) time.

I remember laughing for NO REASON with my sister.
We would just look at each other and start.
Infuriated my mother, because we usually did this in church.

Snicker, giggle – -oh my…that WAS fun.
And you know we Kats don’t usually laugh at stuff.
    Thanks Alice – good idea!

Melanie is very good at laughing. I remember getting the uncontrollable giggles in church too. If you kept it up for an hour, I imagine it would be very good for stomach muscles as well as everything else.
Justified is on but I don’t get that channel. Village on a Diet is on. It’s about a whole village that is challenged to change their eating habits, start exercizing and lose a ton of weight. The town is the next one south of us so I know some of these people.

No, I do not see point in this. Silly cat – you should make use of yourself and catch a mice.

At last! First the blog bug, then the Kats took over the ‘puter. Now its our turn…after we finished our laugh therapy.
Mama had a good day at the Crazy Lady’s place. One of the regulars is kind of a know it all snob. She came in today and made a comment about it being Pi day, and Mama was the only one there who knew what she was talking about, thanks to the blog. The customer was impressed as all heck , and after that treated Mama with a whole new respect.
    Geeze, people are weird…

Sounds delish Rio. I still haven’t made anything from her site but I was browsing it again today… Right now I am trying hard not to steal a little piece of the cheesecake I made for a meeting tomorrow. I’m not even hungry but…it’s cheesecake! Now, I`ll go look up what your friend had for supper.

This is getting so discouraging….for days we were getting moderated and couldn’t post. then Mama was away for days and we couldn’t post. then Mama went to a show, and we couldn’t post. then the blog bug hit and we couldn’t post. then this morning, the dam Kats stole the ‘puter and we couldn’t post. Now tonight, it is finally our turn, the blog is working, and we get hit with the freakin’ dark side already even.
We had something really important to say, but now we forgot.

Rio: Heh! heh! heh! Ho! Ho! Ho! Ha! Ha! Ha! Rio: I like the way this lady cooks. Amusing how she had to coax her readers to add that cup of cream.
Macy Min Pin: I appreciate aand admire your unique sense of humor, style of writing and the way you can use just one or two words to convey the perfect gist of the matter. I hope you had some laughs today.

Rio – why woukld “shrimp” be any riskier than their “meat”? didn’t you see the recent expose about exactly what is in taco b’s meat-like filling?

Hey, y’all! Good morning — sorry I didn’t get back to the blog last night, but Mom worked late and then had to stop at the store on the way home and then made supper and just never got around to turning the computer on for me.

I just want to remind you that my boy has his second interview this morning — please keep your paws crossed everyone!
