“Any reason for this lapse?” says Admin.

“Blame Kermit Ruffins,” Spence says, and goes back to sleep.

Kermit is a Jazz trumpeter (sp?). So did they go to a concert, or stay up late with some bourbon and a CD?

    Good morning, everyone!

Good morning all. We did know who Kermit was and now are stuck wondering about what he did to our Chet!
Rio – grumpy as you may be, you are also very smart. We like your idea very much. Some of us are already connected to others, but we have been thinking about Siber too and wondering if anyone contacts him “outside” our little world.
And we would care VERY much if you disappeared, you snorfeling little grumblebutt!

Since Mom couldn’t get to the bird feeder in all this snow, she sprinkled seed on the patio. A herd of juncos just arrived. Herd of juncos? Sure, I’ve heard of juncos.

Dump!… We had an unexpected snow storm through the night….snort!… They said it would stay in the mountains. Wrong! My friend’s drive into the busy place was a nightmare. Rio: This was in the paper today.”Justified,” FX: Don’t mess with Raylan. Don’t touch the hat. Don’t sass back. And when he says he’s going to shoot you, believe it. Timothy Olyphant continues to be great in the lead role here, and the fact that “Justified” is more intriguing than its impressive freshman season is cause for joy. Margo Martindale was a superb casting choice, Walton Goggins is a gem and just think of all the Boyd Crowderisms we’ve got left this season.”
Question: Would “Fire in the Hole” be a Boyd Crowderism? Can you think of any other? I guess Martindale plays “Mags”. She is doing a good job.

Did you watch the show “The Riches”? It was one of my favorites. Walton Goggins was in it.

Melanie: I told Mollypop (today’s comments, yesterday’s post) that we had winter weather advisories this morning but it’s sunny now.

    How was Dan’s day yesterday?

  21. Melanie
    1:38 pm on February 25th, 2011

Dan had a wonderful time. He and my sister went to the art museum in the town down the hill. At first he was determined he could walk the whole time. After 50 feet of the walker, my sister got him a wheelchair. They were able to spend the whole morning in the museum!

They ate at a Korean restaurant and then came back. He slept in the car. He had a nap after he got in and he went to bed at 7. He’s tired today, but happy.

Melanie – come on down the hill – the temperature is fine….not. But at least we only have rain now – ice is over.
WE HATE SNOW!!!! It’s tuff being a corgi in deep snow.
Mama is indulging in her best cold fighting strategies – Irish tea, super spicy hot and sour chicken soup, and National Geographic tv – this one is about searching for Noah’s ark – some really interesting theories, and a question that we never even thought about. If the whole world was flooded, when the water receded….where did it recede TO??

We are worried about SiberH too here in Chevy Chase. We think Rio’s idea is an excellent one. While some of uc can communicate through our secret decoder devices, and some are fairly public because of their web pages like Stover, Melanie and Staff, there are still some gaps that need to be filled.

Also, Melanie, to answer your question from last night, that movie (with Anthony Hopkins) was based on the book. And while the movie was kind of okay, the beauty of the book was less the story than the elegant writing style, which is even more amazing given the fact that I don’t think English was the author’s first language. Also, Stover’s comment from yesterday seems to still be stuck in moderation pergatory.

Melanie: I’m glad Dan and your sister had a good day yesterday. Museums are always fun…..Musee d’Orsay in Paris….My favorite!! (I’ve been watching a series from Netflix called Impressionists–enacted biographies based on letters, interviews from the period and bios. Richard Armitage plays Monet.) Should we discuss Impressionism?

Wookie: My comment yesterday was that I really like the book. I also enjoyed the movie but it’s been a long time since I saw it. I like Emma Thompson who was also in it.

    Wolfie,
I too love bejeweled. I used it to calm myself down before I took my blood pressure before I started the low salt diet. I much prefer it to the diet, but it doesn’t work nearly as well. I have gotten over 500,000 once or twice. I rarely get to level 7. I can get to level 5 a lot, and if I get to level 6 I am happy.
I only use the online game, I am too cheap to download and pay for it.
I have a rule that I can only play 2 games at a time. Hard to keep some days.

Staff!….Darlin’ you must be mighty careful. We don’t want you to get sick by gosh!…gruff!…Wear your face-mask at work if you have to. It sounds like you really should Have Too!…grump! ….Sick people make me sick…sneeze!

Bejeweled!… My friend had that waste-of-time training class a few weeks ago and the guy she was sitting next to played Bejeweled the whole time ….snort!…She watched him get to level 12 or 13 in a few short-but long boring hours…heh! snorkel!…It was almost hypnotizing the way he played so quickly…snort!…She is the one person this guy is nice to. He is sweet as can be to her but rude and contemptible to everyone else in the dept, unless they are:
    1. Guys who love the exact same sports he does.
    2. The Manager, who loves him cause he is so smart …cough!…Yes, he is very intelligent and he gives my friend secret knowledge about a certain stupid software program they have to use and abuse…heh! …She adores him for this!

    Chorkel!

I think I get the inside joke. But would actually have to check with OTAS and he’s working tonight.

I’m going to bed. My computer says it’s 1:19 p.m. and every time I try to change it, I get the wheel of death.

Two other things: While skyping with YSAS I saw some dude in a mini-van stop his car, get out with camera in hand. I knew the beaver was some where close. The beaver was, but this guy was stalking it to get a close up. Jeez, this is a wild animal, not Disney.

Second: While watching Lie to Me, it suddenly hit me what Tim Roth does when he is confronted by someone with an attitude and a weapon. I’m a long ago Psychology major (I’ve always told my guys it was so I could raise them, snicker), and where I went to school the Psychology department was divided into cliques. Behavioral, Animal and Humanistic. (10 guesses which I was but the first nine don’t count.)

Well, there were three of us who hung around from each department and we learned a lot from each other. The guy who was the Animal dude worked with large apes. When he was confronted with a dominate male, my friend would back away, arms out, face averted, and be lower than the dominate male. He would only look at the male from a lowered sideways gaze.

If you watch Tim Roth, he does this! I am so awesome!

    And very tired. So TTFN

And Rio – just in case those dawgs were being too nice to you – we’re back to make your curly little tail tighten up. HA!

So far we are ok. And next week is March, so winter is almost behind us.

Melanie, Staff and Wolfie have our email and street address, but we are wondering if someone should have a master list with emergency phone #s. It could be strictly voluntary, and just for the few regulars who post on here all the time. What do you think?

Kirby!…We are watching Top Chef. The one with Paula Dean on it…heh!…She is looking fine these days…snorkel!…We love her but there has never been any way we can cook or eat her recipes…grunt!…One bite would be our total daily calorie intake plus the salt…grunt!…The way she looks says to me she doesn’t eat her own cookin’ either…heh!

Melanie is watching Lie To Me on Netflix I think. We’re between seasons at the moment because Fox only had 13 episodes of Season 3. They have not yet announced if there will be season 4.

Lie To Me: Season 3 of Lie to Me is over. I don’t know if it will be back or not. The finale was called “Killer App”. It was kind of like Social Network.

Rio: We thought that episode of Top Chef was pretty dramatic — where do you fall on the “plagiarist” accusation? I think it was pretty skunky of Mike to “borrow” Richard’s idea, then to say it was OK because it just “inspired” him!

OK, Mom says I’ve got to turn off the computer now. The good news is that she has tomorrow off, so maybe I’ll be able to get on the computer — when I’m not watching her paint the chimney in her new closet. Or clean the kitchen. Or do the laundry. Wait — didn’t I just say she has the day off tomorrow? It sure doesn’t sound like it!!!
