Good morning everyone. That baseball looks like Chet may have gotten ahold of it. Game one down, and wonder what will happen next?
    Wonderful Wednesday to all.

    Greetings!

    Good morning, HOH!

That ball looks like I feel! :^)

    SPOLIER ALERT!

RIO! The winner of “The Great American Read” was “To Kill a Mockingbird”.

There was only 1 winning ticket in the Mega Millions. It was not mine. The winning ticket was sold in South Carolina…

    Good day to all!

Wose, I like that new word Spolier! I intend to use it three times today to make it mine!

I read To Kill a Mockingbird three or four times in my life. I think when it came out I was in my early twenties and I took certain meanings from it. Then I read it again in my forties and it seemed different, as the lessons from it changed for me. Again, in my sixties I read it and again, the perspective changed for me. Perhaps any great book could be seen this way, but I haven’t often read the same book multiple times except for The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. That was the first memorable book of my childhood and it always draws me back.

ALR if I like a book, I will try to reread it after about a year. If the first few chapters flow like the first reading, I continue. The C&B books are like that. Also the Harry Potter’s. And Mary Steward’s books.

HOH, did you mean Mary Stewart? Ahh, I remember her early books. I checked on Goodreads and remembered the ones I had read and that I lost interest when she started her what they call her “Authorian Sagas”. Of course the best thing about reading is that there is something for everybody!

ALR: Spolier…Perhaps the French for Spoiler! :^) I have read “To Kill a Mockingbird” several times after I first read it in grammar school. I haven’t read it in some time, but I want to read it again soon. I read “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” again this past spring. That is another book I have loved since I first read it as a girl. Right now I am re-reading a great book, “I Know This Much Is True” by Wally Lamb.

HOH: I have been persuaded many times by many people to read the Harry Potter series…I haven’t been able to bring myself to do it.

Brilliant stories and good reads (sorry). Got non-reading kids reading. Cannot say enough about the Potter books!

Wose, Mom is the same about the Harry Potter series. There are a lot of lovers of that series, but she just never felt the pull to read them. She is the same about time travel and futurist books.

I love this conversation! I also love series! I first read C&B because the display and the bookstore stated first in a series AND if that were the case the dog would not die at the end of the book!

Another great series for young people and those of us who read young people’s books is Anne of Green Gables. I just checked out this series on Goodreads as it has been a while since I read them. As it turns out there are eleven books in the series! Yay for me because I only knew of the first four. A great series to start over.

And while I talk about series, has anyone here read the Miss Julia series by Ann B. Ross? I adore Miss Julia and all her escapades! If you think about reading this series you MUST start with the first book and read them in order. That is the best way.

BooBear: Sounds like your mom and me have something in common! I don’t like sci-fi or fantasy books either. :^)

ALR: “Anne of Green Gables” was on the 100 loved books on “The Great American Read.”
I am laughing at your use of “spoliers.”

Beau: Please take note—-the Bible didn’t make the top 100 list. So therefore…we should change to late morning studies of a book on that there list.

When Staff visited she got to see all the lockers. She did not take photos as that is her MO…snort!…Glad to know it won the contest of best book to read….chuffle!
