Crazy weather. Going to be 60-couple here today. Then it drops. Then it comes back up. And when I come home on next Sunday, it will be snowing. Out to San Diego on Tuesday. And hey wow, I got asked to write a blog for Growing Up Guide Pup after I put up this review of Hilde’s new harness. New harness? Yeah, every guide dogneeds at least three, right?

Those are Mom’s azalea bushes. It is blooming about a month early due to the spring like weather. We only had 1 freeze this winter and it managed to freeze Mom’s potted plants on the front porch. Some may come back but it doesn’t look like her huge fichus tree is going to make it. She hates to loose it since it was one of the plants from Dad’s funeral. She said something about not being able to have house plants indoors because of the cats. Humphh! Anyway, the tree was too big to move and she had hoped being on a covered porch would be enough. Not!

    BStover and BooBear,
I am pretty sure those are Azalea, or Rhododendron.

I think Azalea usually have smaller leaves, and Rhododendron have bigger leaves.

Things are happening here 3-4 weeks early too. I bet we will end up like last year with a late frost in May. Crazy!

I just saw a House Finch and, earlier, a Mourning Dove. I haven’t seen either since the Fall.

Thank you for the answer BooBear and Staff. There are Azalea bushes around the condo area in Florida but they are at least six feet tall.

B., Fla, the Gulf coast and AZ/CA are a 12 month growing zone. Even parts of TX have frost warnings. That is why plants get bigger. Even poinsettias can live in those environments.

Thanks, BooBear! There are some azalea bushes outside of the building Grizz and I live in. They haven’t bloomed yet. My mom loved azaleas.

I have pictures I took of the golf course surrounding the Florida condo (this was in January of 1990) and ice is covering trees, grass, and even the fountain is frozen. Of course, it didn’t last long. I also have a large framed picture that my grandfather took…way back when…of an ice storm that covered everything in Savannah, Georgia.

Forsythia, Bradford Pear and azalea are blooming in the valley. Up here on the ridge we live on none of those are blooming. The azaleas ???? are trying to bloom.
Nothing yet from the lilac, crepe myrtle and dogwood. The ground has a greenish tint. Should be mid to high 70’s tomorrow and this weekend it will drop by 20 degrees. This is crazy.
