“On account of VNA on the way,” says Admin.

“Heard you went for a walk on the beach yesterday, a week after hip replacement surgery.”

“Ha. I wish. A walk in the beach parking lot. And with a crutch. But a beautiful, windy day. There was a kite surfer, the perfect contrasting image.”

It starts with just one step, Admin.

When Barb had knee replacement, she was still in a rehab facility after one week. You are way ahead of her!

Boobear, the job your mom did on that mantel piece was truly amazing. She could be a floral designer.

Have a good day everyone. Special thoughts of Rio’s friend and Howler’s mom at their work places today.

Here’s the difference. When you have a sick child who must be kept quiet, you give them books, or a box of crayons. When a critter needs to be kept calm, a warm lap or heating pad can usually do the trick.
But what in h*ll do you do with a hyperactive Gramp who MUST keep quiet, but who wants to go mess around in the icy, sloping backyard, or walk his dog or vacuum ?

    We are thinking tranquilizer dart.

    For Mama.

Boy oh boy, Boobear lives with A LOT of cats! Barb doesn’t think she could live with that many dogs.

In two weeks Barb is going to spend the weekend with Kelly’s three kids and three dogs. Josh and Jess offered to take me and Lucy for the weekend. hahahahaha. As if!

Gramps. Sit. Stay. Good boy. Nooo, stay!

Barb, so are Mags and Lucy going with you? I frequently experience the joy of five frolicking canines. It is someithing else.

Can’t believe I beat HOH this a.m. Hope they are a-o-k.

Admin–Walkies! The best medicine (and every step is progress)!
Gawgeous photo of Howie and friend.
T and G–Mama needs: 1/2 gallon chocolate milk (p[ossibly more as the day progresses); bottle of brandy. Combine in whatever proportions seems tasty. Share with Gramp and then get out the coloring book. Have a pillow handy.
Also thinking of Dawson (when is she due back? It was a bus trip, right?)

AND…I FINALLY succeeded in scanning a PDF to myself, then sending it with a bunch of other documents (related to a course assessment) to the same delightfully distant employer to whom I FAXed the whole thing SEVEN MONTHS AGO (included the orig. FAX receipt in today’s pkg; someone at their end dropped the ball). I really hope that’s the end of it (fingers and paws crossed).
Just needed to vent a little. Have a triumphant Tuesday, all

Masquers, MAYBE will get a companion for Howie if Mom can get part of the yard fenced. He really does enjoy seeing and playing with other dogs. However, he has started playing with the cats now too. Some play back with him, some not! (I am in the NOT group.)

O.K. Mom’s proposal is to fund $50.00 on Doc. One other at 50 (or 2 at 25) will keep him comfortably at Snowhook this year.
The other proposal is: $25 for Elmer (so that 3 other folks at 25 will fully fund him).
AND $25 for Gomez (again 3 others at 25 will fund him…You could tell people something about the Addams family).
If you can find this under cushions, in the wash machinne or the laundry hamper, great. Heck, we will even accept it if is out of treaties money (with the approval of said treators!)

BooBear – love the pic of Howie and kitty. Obviously that kat is not one of the Wrotten variety like we have here.

Mama has been gone all day on a Road Trip Adventure with one of her friends. She got home and found a package had arrived. She had ordered a series of paintings from the very talented daughter of another friend, designed to hang in her clay room to make her smile.

The paintings arrived today. We love, love, love them!

Home! Mom is all smiles. The Welcome Breakfast was a delish breakfast pizza!!! Who knew? And, get this: Mom really likes her new shelf and seat.

Regarding sponsorships: feel free to send in partial amounts and let me know which dog you are putting that money toward. My only request is that we try to get one (maybe two) dogs fully sponsored before we start another dog. I would really hate to see a dog only partially dressed or with a belly half full. Heh!
If I receive partial money toward one of the dogs, I will let youse all know who we are working on sponsoring, so that, hopefully, others will join in for him/her.

Time to eat/muck/do EA Sports! Later Gaters!

  29. Mama Meash
    6:23 pm on January 20th, 2015

Forgot to say, right now there are three (gasp!) dogs who are partially sponsored: Doc, Elmer, and Gomez. These three are all “otherwise dogs”.

    6:25 pm on January 20th, 2015

Masquers, You have no idea how much that woman worries. She would not have a peaceful moment if we went to Josh’s. They do not have a fenced back yard, there is a big possibility that the kids could let us out, and Barb is afraid that being a little skittish, I would try to high tail it home. Home is 5 miles from their house, with 4 miles being 4 lane divided highway. I would never make it.

Besides, Kelly and Chad have tons of money and they are going to pay for our doggy sitter. Plus, we love Lisa. Problem solved, right?

  31. Barb, Maggie and Lucy
    6:29 pm on January 20th, 2015

Howlers, How is Amalia doing on sponsorship? We want to send some funds for her,but we are not feeling posh right now. We can not fully fund a dog, and wish we could do more.

  32. Barb, Maggie and Lucy
    6:41 pm on January 20th, 2015

What we meant was 2 lanes going each way, divided highway.

Howlers, should we send you an email regarding a partial sponsorship?

  33. Mama Meash
    6:44 pm on January 20th, 2015

Barb, Amalia does not have any funding yet . We only need small amounts for Gomez and Elmer, and an even smaller amount for Doc, and then we can begin to sponsor another one or two.

It would be nice if we could work on a Race dog and an Otherwise dog simultaneously though. What do you guys think?

  34. Mama Meash
    6:47 pm on January 20th, 2015

Barb, thanks for the reminder. We should post this at the top of each day (if Mom would let her iPaw home for us).

  35. Mama Meash

Sent my check to Snowhook today.
At the end of the day I stopped by the school Philip Walters teaches at and picked up one of his patches. He couldn’t say enough good things about AJ and Rebecca and Snowhook. 45 days to the Iditarod! He is excited. His schedule now is teaching all day, driving 90 minutes to the kennel. Booting the dogs and mushing for 3+ hours, unbooting, checking them over to make sure all is well, feeding and then driving back home. Bed by 1 am and back at school by 7:45 am. I know the morning traffic from his home to his job is bad–a 20 minute drive can double and triple depending on driving conditions. On the plus side–he is young and fit.

Gramps makes Dawson look easy when trying to keep them still under the Quilt. Dawson is always on the move. Luckily, I have found enough for cab fair in the folds of the Quilt to keep her tucked in it. Even more fortunate, the snacks stocked in the Quilt are mostly portable.

6th anniversary of Obama’s inauguration, and tonight I am sitting here listening to his State of the Union address. And I still love him. We just got a kick out of a FB post by Bill Maher saying that “Boehner always looks like he is getting a colonoscopy”. Now, I don’t care where you stand politically – that is a funny line, and it creates an unequivocable mental image of what a person’s face looks like.
