“Why not?” says Admin.
“Revising SCENTS AND SENSIBILITY,” says Spence.
“What kind of excuse is that?”

Good morning, everyone! “revising”…sounds like work. The sky here is dark and dreary, rain tomorrow and Wed. at least. We might have a wet Christmas 🙂
Have a murky Monday.
8:41 am on December 22nd, 2014
Good Morning HOH–You know how I feel about rain, but I hope it isn’t too gloomy for you. A good day for chili and cornbread?
Hello Everyone–May your Monday be pleasantly murky or mad and marvelous.
8:48 am on December 22nd, 2014
Good morning HOH and Diane – and Everybody, have a Happy Christmas Week.
For heavy British accents or even characters who talk really fast, click on closed captions.
Good luck with revisions, Spence.

DianeC. Chili and cornbread, an excellent idea. Now if we can just con someone into cooking it.
9:03 am on December 22nd, 2014
You tell him Admin.
Good morning all.
9:26 am on December 22nd, 2014
Good morning all. Dreary here too. We may get some snow or rain by Christmas. So far it seems that the temps have been too warm for snow and that may be the case this week.
T & G, We thought the shows were very similar too. Good point about the Lab vs GSD. I did think the Gracepoint character with the dog was a little scarier/crazier looking than the British lady.
Chili and cornbread sounds good, but here we have a big pot of turkey, vegetable & barley soup.

We were on fb and saw AJ’s post about poutine being the best food ever. We had to look it up.
Ummmm – guess we could never qualify as Canadians.
And what the heck does a cheese curd taste like anyway?
10:04 am on December 22nd, 2014
Tupper and Gilly: Cottage cheese is cheese curd.
10:19 am on December 22nd, 2014
Good morning! Revising? We didn’t even get a chance to critique the original.
Mom says she had poutine somewhere. Mick and Jodi’s (the people, not the dogs)? She liked it.
The ‘rents were up real early today. They must have forgotten that they are on vacation. So then they got bags and bags and more bags from the locked up guest bedroom, and lots of wrapping paper. Suddenly, we were all kicked outside in the cold, dark morning. Then we smelled some really good stuff from inside that kitchen. We waited, with our noses against the door. For what? We don’t know, because when we were finally allowed back in, hours later, all was back to normal, as in no wrapping paper, no bags, and definitely no good smelling stuff.

T & G, Fried cheese curds are quite yummy. It is a big Wisconsin thing. They would be a little like a round mozzarella stick, but are usually made from a deeper yellow cheese..

Everything you wanted to know about poutine and more. Saw it when in Montreal in 2000.

There is a trendy new café in our town; we stopped in the other day for a quick lunch. Two grilled cheese sandwiches and two cups of tomato soup cost $20.00. But we did notice poutine on their menu. Might have to go back and check it out – but we will ask first if it is authentic, or it is a trendy version.
BSD – Guten Tag – and never too late to say hello

The presidential press conference was news yesterday because he only called on female reporters. Heh heh heh.
I guess the men thought it wasn’t ‘fair’.
Here is an article about it and the last person quoted is a certain Rosie Gray from Buzzfeed. I think I have heard about her somewhere.

Good morning. About to take Sadie to the vet.
Rio said his friend was worried that my molasses cookies were getting stale. I had planned to hold off but broke them open last night. Not stale. And I have eaten so many that it would be pathetic to take them to Christmas dinner. {{{sigh}}} Bad, Rio, bad.
1:17 pm on December 22nd, 2014
CHobbitti: Eating cookies and candies and Christmas treats…it’s all about the stress I tell ya.
1:36 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Spence: What Admin said.
Poutine: I didn’t know all that about poutine, except that it is called “heart attack in a bowl.”
Cheese curds are delicious…and they squeak when you eat them.
Almost every restaurant up here has poutine on the menu.
CHobbit: I know molasses are addictive.
A murky Monday it is!
2:10 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Quite a few Addictions on this here Blog…Rio’s Friend’s Yummy Cookies, Wolfie’s Wonderful Toffee, and Linda the Lurker’s Famous Pretzels to name but a few.

BSD – maybe you could nudge Nana over to her SDD for a message. Maybe she will stop and give you a snack on the way.
2:49 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Buffalo has poutine and right across the border in Canada too. Neither place has the real thing like HOH posted. The real poutine sounds delicious. Our stuff is regular french fries with cheese sauce and gravy ladled on. I have never tried the poutine we can get here. It looks disgusting.
2:50 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Hobitt–thinking about Sadie with paws and various appendages crossed.
I was wondering if “poutine” was maybe a corruption of “boudin” (which I though was pudding), but it is instead sausage, so likely not. Apparently poutine is today’s kale (only not as healthy) there’s a poutine food truck in LA.
Too much food talk for me–I need to go mop something…
3:05 pm on December 22nd, 2014
I think I can buy cheese curds in my local organic store, but I believe that they would draw the line at (before) poutine.
Sounds interesting. I would like to try it. Once.
Dark day here. Still teaching! Tomorrow might be a snow day (for ice), but I am not counting on it. Three P.M. tomorrow is the beginning of Christmas Vacation!!!!!!!
3:07 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Cookies!
Molasses cookies are addictive. It may very well be the molasses. I’ve made a cracker jacks like popcorn mixture with molasses that was addictive and molasses on pancakes or over ice cream is addictive too.
We are eating beans and weiners. I do wish they had Hebrew Nationals up here. Y’all have got me addicted!
Perhaps it is me? I am the addict!

Dear Family – we have a confession to make. We have been very naughty Kats. Mama brought a cute little kitten home with her one day – he was homeless and cold and starving.
So now, he is sleek and healthy, but we Kats have made everyone’s life miserable.
We simply will not accept this little interloper, and we stalk him and beat him up every chance we get. Or we pout, and won’t come near Mama, and won’t eat for a day or two at a time.
Mama has done everything she can think of, and for a while, we kind of thought about being nice to the kid. But – they don’t call us Wrotten Kats for nothing.
So, this morning Mama made a tough call and went to the v e t to see if they still had people who wanted him. They did. So the little beastie is going to his new home today – complete with a little boy to play with and no Wrotten Kats to compete with.
So, this is all good right? But for some reason Mama is crying her eyes out.
She probably won’t be back on the blog today. We will try to cuddle up with her and see if we can cheer her up, but this is gonna be a tough assignment.
Maybe we shouldn’t have been quite so Wrotten…..
3:11 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Busy day her for the poochies. Lucy went to the groomers this morning for a nail trim. Now Miss Maggie, who turns into Cujo at the sight of nail clippers, is going to the vet’s to have hers done, as well as getting a lypto shot.
It snowed here for a while, but now has turned into a dreary rain.
3:29 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Herbs: We here are very disappointed in youse. We usually stand up for our fellow felines, but now we must say…”wrotten kats” is not a misnomer…not this time.
3:31 pm on December 22nd, 2014
We have to agree with Masquers. You are very bad boys. Here we thought you were getting along so well!

Royal Mum: CubKat will Always be a Plunderer. Sob.
3:33 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Oh Tupper’s Mama:
That is soooo hard. I’m glad Cubbins has another good home to go to but sad that Cubbins won’t be there to cuddle you anymore. Those Wrotten Cats will have to up their cuddling game to make up for Cubbins loss.
Waiting to hear that Sadie is tip-top.
3:37 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Shame on Sage and Boo to Basil. Wrotten Kats, indeed. You’s better give Tupper’s Mama some serious kuddles.
3:54 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Basil and Sage: You should be ashamed of yourselves.
4:14 pm on December 22nd, 2014
C.Hobbit & Sadie: Please Check-in Soon as you get home from the VET’s.
4:58 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Basil and Sage–I had expected better. I hope Cubbins has a long and healthy, happy life–too bad it won’t be with your Mom.
Hobbit–I second BSD’s request. Please let us know…
5:07 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Oh, Basil and Sage. We are SO disappointed.
5:09 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Hope Sadie Girl is fine.
5:32 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Oh Basil & Sage. And just before Christmas too. You are on the Naughty List for sure.
Sadie’s vet appointment took a long time because they were also doing a Senior Wellness workup. They wanted to take x-rays of her back and their machine needed a tech to adjust it. The x-rays showed slight arthritis in a couple of places on her spine which may be causing back spasms. Her knees and hips are fine. So she has Rimidyl to take and I am to buy some joint health pills for her. And Rio she is now dieting–same foods but smaller portions. She weighed too much last year and has gained 6 pounds.
She made it in and out of the car fine the first time but the return trip was a bit tricky for her. Now we are both going to rest.
5:35 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Sadie, who’s a good girl? Thanks for the report CHobbit.
5:35 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Amalia, Hugs You did everything you could. We are sorry you are hurting. Everything will work out fine for Cubbins.
T&G Mail me the wrotten kats. I’ll straighten them out in no time.
I hope Sadie’s vet visit went well. Let us know.
5:38 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Sadie is on her way to feeling better!
5:41 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Sadie: Big sigh of relief here. Sorry about the diet, and right before the holidays too!
5:51 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Hooray!
Sadie is okay! Except for the diet bit, and since CHobbit has already eaten almost all the groceries, no problem there. Heh!
5:54 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Sadie, I am happy that you are doing well. Mom gives me a pill called Arthrogen once a day. It keeps me limber, so I can maintain my Head Girl status.
T&G’s Maw, this must be so disappointing for you, as well as for Gramps and The Storyteller. sniff. Things would probably work out after a while, but it can take a very long, and stressful, time. We had to endure a year and a half of terrible behavior from T.C. when Buddy moved into our house. And then, when Zeus arrived, she did a lot of hiding out for most of the Spring and Summer. Cats can be like that. They seem to not want to socialize with other felines, unlike we Members of the Nation Within, who mostly love to socialize with each other.
6:21 pm on December 22nd, 2014
So glad Sadie is better. I give the girls a daily dose of a product called GLC 1000. It was recommended by the Basset rescue group and can be purchased thru Amazon for about $43.00. It last for months, with both dogs getting a 1/4 tsp once a day.
I think the only breed of cats that lives in a pack is a lion. Most cats are not a pack animal, which is probably why it is so much easier to introduce a new dog into a family.
6:49 pm on December 22nd, 2014
I am sad to hear that Cubbins will be in a new home. He will probably be relieved as much as Amalia and Gramps are sad.
The Feliway seems to be helping here. I have seen more of Alice in the last few days. Abbie was on Mr.Staff’s lap as the same time as Henry yesterday! She seems to be adapting better than Alice.
The kittens have been here 2 months already. It doesn’t seem possible.
7:04 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Herbs: Shame on you. For sure coal will be in your stockings.
Yay! I am glad to hear Sadie’s check-up went well.
R.I.P Joe Cocker
7:12 pm on December 22nd, 2014
My favorite was You Are So Beautiful To Me. He was 70, which is what Barb will be on her next B-Day. Yikes!
7:30 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Maggie and Lucy, tell Barb to relax. Since she doesn’t smoke, odds are that she probably won’t die of lung cancer like Cocker.
7:32 pm on December 22nd, 2014
I have a favorite memory of seeing this live on SNL with John Belushi.

MPM, thank you, mom had that in her head when she saw the news. Those were 2 pretty talented guys:)
8:07 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Rose: Very sad to hear about Joe Cocker. Someone here saw him in concert at Summer by the Pier about 10 years ago. It was a great show.
8:07 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Joe Cocker had very unusual movement. I hate to ask this, but did he have some sort of disability or was it just his style? I am assuming Belushis would not have done a parody if it was actuality a disability.
8:10 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Thanks, MollyPop’s Mom. sniff.
8:13 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Belushi is gone too.
8:20 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Bear, then I take a step to Gilda Radner gone too. I loved Alan Zweibel’s book Bunny, Bunny a love story about her.
8:46 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Gilda!….Awww, now my pug heart hurts…sniff!….Memories, like the corners of my bed….wuffle!
Football!…My friend and I have given in to Beau’s wishes and are watching Monday Night Football…sniff!…The Broncos are playing and my friend needs something totally mindless to watch after the day she’s had…wheeze!
9:11 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Cubbins!….Gone? Really? This really has been a day…sniff!
9:14 pm on December 22nd, 2014
(Whispering) See, we TOLD you they are Wrotten Kats.
Now, we’re gonna go tuck Mama in bed and cuddle her.
G’night, family.
9:16 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Guessing!…Well, seeing as Golinka lost a Kat today, I am guessing she is the one who bought Staff’s Kat Pillow so she could cry her eyeballs out on that ole green cloth Kat…sniff!
9:17 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Hi there peeps! Finally get my paws on the keys just as mom is getting ready to call it a night. I took a little trip to the v-e-t today myself. I was doing my limping thing and I guess mom felt sorry for me. Whilst we were there mom was reminded that I have liver disease that I have been supposed to have been taking spensive pills for for the last six months.. oops. Good news is liver is no worse than it was (so what good are the pills mom asks)ANYwho…got hooked up with some pain meds and liver med and I will be joining Sadie at the gym. Sheesh, as girl puts on a couple of ounces…
Dainty licks to the mom of the wrotten kats.

Somewhere in Western Massachusetts there is a child who just today got a Christmas wish granted. For that I am happy. I do wish it had worked out, Tupper’s Mama.
9:40 pm on December 22nd, 2014
Gilda was loved by everybody who knew her and is sorely missed.
Those were the Days when SNL had the Best of the Best in the Talent Department.

I hope my daughter Shannon has better luck with her cat transition. She is moving in with her long time boy friend in a couple of months. He has a dog Vinny, a French Mastiff and his two cats. She has two cats that are about 4 or 5 years old. She has had them since they were 8 or 9 weeks old, and they are litter mates. She thinks they will be fine with Vinny, but is worried about the other cats.

I feel a bad mood coming on, but my four-legged says a few minutes of patience for someone to check her go phone does not a bad mood make.

My apologies to Belle Starr. Keep in mind that when you ever get kittens, they will consume all your time (you might want to rethink the whole “I must have a kitten” concept especially after reading about the experiences of Staff, Barb and Tupper’s Mama). Then I had to walk Sadie to alleviate my guilt. Go phone checked and responded.

Sadie–I’m happy to hear that the situation can be dealt with. Conan takes a pain pill once or twice a day (which is pretty good given that he turns 16 next week) and that’s all he needs. My sympathies about the dieting business.
