“Why not?” Spence says.
“No time,” says Admin. “Dusting off the leaf blower.”
“But there are no leaves down yet.”
“Gotta be prepared.”
“And are you aware that a lot of people don’t approve of leaf blowers?”
“Why not? They’re all about wind power.”
Note: Still working on a fix for the Friends gallery. No uploading possible at this time.

Greetings!
It is a soggy Saturday here in New York. Grizz is on Prof mode now, with lots of tutoring on-line, and bad papers to correct.
I think I slept a little past 3am, but I feel like a Zombie. Can’t do much outside today, so it is movie day for Grizz and I.
8:19 am on October 4th, 2014
Heh! I am first!
8:35 am on October 4th, 2014
Good morning, Wose. Happy Saturday. It is windy and wet here. Not actually raining anymore, but misting. We are off to do our Saturdayfarm chores.
8:43 am on October 4th, 2014
Good morning, everyone (Wose and OH especially). So out of sync…Sunny here and cool! Chores, sounds like a four letter word (with five letter)!
8:51 am on October 4th, 2014
Good morning all. Weather her is not good either. It is so close to the frost point (34 degrees) that we are getting a few things floating down that look suspiciously like snow flakes. Looks like the garden survived over night, so we have another week or so of those wonderful fresh green beans and a few tomatoes and peppers.
We have a dozen bulbs to plant tomorrow – hyacinths – which are one of our favorite spring flowers.
Tonight is Baye’s homecoming dance, so I am going down to take pictures. Baye may have to wear a winter coat over her postage stamp of a dress.
9:35 am on October 4th, 2014
Why don’t people approve of leaf blowers?
The Weather Channel is showing a wind chill of 35 here. It’s also showing snow in Chicago.
Masquers: I watched the first episode of Gracepoint and it followed the story line of Broadchurch exactly.
Good morning all.
9:35 am on October 4th, 2014
Good morning all.
40 degrees here. There’s a teensy amount of snow on the windshields of neighborhood cars.
Continuing with Admin’s wind theme, it is still windy here.
9:53 am on October 4th, 2014
Regarding the questions from yesterday about watching Gracepoint even though it is the same story line as Broadchurch…my answer is that I will watch anything starring David Tennant.
10:08 am on October 4th, 2014
Gracepoint will be on our must watch list as well.
Did anyone watch the 20/20 show last night titled “The Mystery on Johnsburg Road”? Barb lived in Johnsburg and/or Johnsburg School District for 13 years and her kids went to Johnsburg schools. It is a sleepy little hamlet, a typical mid-western town where children can grow up safely. Twelve years ago a 17 year old, Brian Carrick, was murdered and his body went missing. It was a huge thing in Johnsburg. Barb probably drove past their house daily, shopped at the grocery store where it happened, and even insured the priest who was in one of the family pictures they showed. Brought back a lot of memories.

Mom is Worrit. There are still hummers on the feeders 🙁 they should be flying south now and it will be in the 30’s tonight. Poor babies!
10:09 am on October 4th, 2014
Good morning all, especially y’all up north. This is the week that makes up for the hell hot summer. It is 60 and sunny, not a cloud in the sky.
We have not seen Broadchurch (I know, I know our bad), but I guess we better get on the Gracepoint train or be left behind. That can go with our pizza tonight. mmmm, pizza
10:23 am on October 4th, 2014
B,M, and L: That episode of 20/20 sounds very interesting. I am a big fan of shows like Forensic Files, Cops, Dateline Mysteries, and the like. I am also of fan of Law and Order, both the US and UK versions. We had started watching the Swedish Wallander series on-line, but it has mysteriously vanished. Grizz starts to wonder about me watching all these shows. I wonder if this underlying theme may have something to do with my head shrinking……
10:24 am on October 4th, 2014
MTMP, pizza? We’ll be there 🙂
10:26 am on October 4th, 2014
O
Wose, maybe mom should get her head shrunk too! She loves those kind of shows, too.
10:26 am on October 4th, 2014
MTMP: You enjoy your nice sunny day, you deserve it. Sounds like the kind of day where you and Mr. Redbone hound should be together on a porch swing, with you giving him dainty licks, and he wrapping you close with one of his long ears. Where is that rascal, btw?
10:43 am on October 4th, 2014
Why,Ah am right here Miz Rose. Right here by mah sweet little Miz Macy. Sometimes Ah get these big, ole paws too tangled up to type, but Ah nevah stray too far from mah sugar doodle. Who do you think used his ears as umbrellas in that big ole thunderstorm the the day?
10:48 am on October 4th, 2014
Snow has stopped. They said this is the third earliest in Chicago history for snow. Although you had to look really fast or you missed it.
Now off to Kohls with the 30% off coupon in hand.
Wose, you should be able to catch the 20/20 show on On Demand. It was on ABC last night at 10:00 your time. We also like Dateline and L & O.
10:48 am on October 4th, 2014
We are rofl,
11:05 am on October 4th, 2014
Macy never let on that Mr. Redbone was the reason that she was not wet after the storm. It was nice of him to let Macy’s little girl use his other ear.
Barb, mom has a 30% off coupon. Does that make y’all twins? Maybe if she actually used hers…
11:08 am on October 4th, 2014
Hey there sweetness. It was sure good to see you on Thursday when that nasty old storm blew in. You always know just when I need you the most. My mama needs a sugar doodle like you.
11:18 am on October 4th, 2014
For anyone interested, Broadchurch is on dvd.
11:18 am on October 4th, 2014
Pizza! Awake Now.
11:49 am on October 4th, 2014
Leaf Blowers!….snort!…What a coincidence. My friend will be strapping on one of those noisy things later today. No leaves just trashy pods from the neighbors across the street…grunt! and grumble!
Humming Birds!….Maybe they would go south if someone quick feeding them…sniff!
12:17 pm on October 4th, 2014
Must be the noise that people don’t like.
We are back from Kohls. Didn’t find anything except 1 summer tee shirt reduced from $34 to $4.80.
Almost time for lunch and a nap.
1:08 pm on October 4th, 2014
Awoke with lots more snow on the nearby mountains. Winter is near and I hope the leave fall off the trees before the snow arrives. I have been trying to figure out how to rake the leaves off the gravel paths and mulched terraces without picking up gravel or mulch. I do not have a leaf blower.
Good morning all. Today is definitely “work in the garage” day.
1:11 pm on October 4th, 2014
Rio: Will your friend blow all the pods back into the neighbor’s yard?
Y’all are welcome to blow your leaves and pods onto my soon-to-be ginormous compost pile.
Do you wear hearing protection when you run a leaf blower?
Hi Redbone Hound: I love your functional ears!
1:16 pm on October 4th, 2014
I don’t know what a leaf blower is. No one on my street owns one. There are trees in my neighborhood that lose their leaves, but people just let those leaves blow to Kansas. High of 80 degrees here today with sunshine.
1:17 pm on October 4th, 2014
???? What does SDD mean, and what is its connection to calendars?
Mattie is doing ok. Can’t walk a lot, but then the rain is really heavy today so no one wants to. She still eats and poops and licks my face. Pretty nice!
I don’t know about all that snow, Hobbit..we have rain and rather high temperatures and those are messing up our fall color show.
1:18 pm on October 4th, 2014
Rainy here today. Leaves are getting beautiful for the leaf peepers. Mattie and Mac’s mom has a birthday tomorrow!
1:24 pm on October 4th, 2014
Zoe SDD = Secret Decoder Device, aka email.
1:33 pm on October 4th, 2014
CHobbit: Twins! I was just hoping that the leaves fall off before the snow comes.
We are socked in (with fog) this morning, supposed to burn off by noon. 36 degrees F.
I am determined to see a baseball game today.
I did not see Broadchurch.
I saw the first show of Gracepoint.
T’ai Chi today inspired by AbbytheKat’s yoga posing. I can now brush knees, also imitate one swipe of a windshield wiper while carrying the apple. It ain’t easy.
1:41 pm on October 4th, 2014
Dawson, do you carry the apple with the same hand that you swipe the window with? And you must have some very hairy knees if they need to be brushed. Mom says she never saw them whilst you were in AK.
1:46 pm on October 4th, 2014
Heh heh

1:50 pm on October 4th, 2014
MTMP, mom always says we look like 6 packs in our life jackets 🙂
1:52 pm on October 4th, 2014
MTMP: No, different hands. One is the windshield wiper while the other one carries the apple.
Heh! I had the same thought about the “brush knee” bit. Somebody with hairy knees? I didn’t make up the names so… I prefer to think I am brushing the knees of my jeans off, as you would do after kneeling on a pile of leaves, or something.
1:58 pm on October 4th, 2014
Dawson, oops, my bad (boy would my face be red if it wasn’t so black).
HOH 6 pack ha ha
This cartoon is for anyone who wants to join my mom in a pharmaceutical vacation.

2:09 pm on October 4th, 2014
MTMP: Love the cartoon! Seriously.
Off I go.
2:16 pm on October 4th, 2014
:):):)
2:19 pm on October 4th, 2014
Dawson: Wax On, Wax Off!
2:59 pm on October 4th, 2014
Zoe, I am very happy Mattie is doing much better.
SDD is a code for the word email. We say “I sent you an SDD” instead of saying, “I sent you an email”.
Rose wants all of us that want a calendar to let her know by email. (SDD)
You don’t need to do that because she already has you down for a calendar.
3:19 pm on October 4th, 2014
Likewise, we are happy to hear the good news about Mattie.
Weather: slightly overcast and kool.
The raccoons were on the prowl again last night…overturning pots, the water bowl and anything else in sight.
Macy: Cute briefcase and cartoon.
HOH: Lol.
3:50 pm on October 4th, 2014
Updates!…Any updates today?…snort!…I live for updates. Someone sent off Beau’s salary to Snowhook….heh!heh!…Now he just has to work harder for more green…chuffle!
4:10 pm on October 4th, 2014
Movie!…Because it is officially time to relax me and my friend are downstairs. She popped in a movie. RIO2!!!…snort!….We here loved Rio1 so much, even though I thought it was going to be about Pugs, that she ordered the second movie..heh!heh!
Fern!…Just a short bit into the movie a little bird was released into the wilds of the Amazon. She was red and had chicken-like qualities. Funny too!…chorkle!…So know this is how I am going to image little Red Fern from now on…heh!heh!
4:44 pm on October 4th, 2014
Grizz and I are just back from a quick bite to eat and the movies. We saw “GONE GIRL.” The book was very good, and I liked the picture as well. After a rainy, windy morning, the sun is finally coming out.
B,M,&L: I will be watching that 20/20 on demand.
Mr. Redbone Hound: I am real glad to hear you are taking good care of Miss Macy. You are a true southern gentleman.
Miss Macy, I will go on that pharmaceutical vacation with your mom.
4:47 pm on October 4th, 2014
Dreary…afternoon…good time to watch movies and catch up on past TV shows.
4:49 pm on October 4th, 2014
Dawson, got a snail mail package:)Thank you!
4:50 pm on October 4th, 2014
Wose, Barb’s sister just went to see Gone Girl this afternoon. She recommended the book as well. Let me know what you think after watching 20/20.
Have to get ready to travel down to take pictures of the 15-year-olds in their homecoming outfits. No one dressed like that when Barb was a teenager. Yikes!
5:18 pm on October 4th, 2014
Just catching up here – bit of a dramatic scene at the hospital today. All is ok for now – as ok as it can be anyway. It was good to come home to funny cartoons and silliness of hairy knees etc. Youse guys are all just the best; your banter has saved our sanity many a day.
Sage says to tell you he is feeling MUCH better now with meds. Basil says to tell you he caught and ate the moth that was surely a serial killer in disguise. Tupper says she wished she had a gentleman caller as chivalrous as Redbone. And Gilly wants to know if anything needs herding.
6:24 pm on October 4th, 2014
Tupper’s Mama: Glad to see it is Mostly Good News on your home front.
We are thinking if the brother is so Feisty it May Be a Good Thing.
As always Sending Positive Energy your way.
6:51 pm on October 4th, 2014
Golinka!…Sounds like it was a hard day at the ole hospitable…sniff!…Would a slurpy sloppy Pug-Kiss right up the nose help at all…slobber!…I’m ready and willing…wheeze!burp!…Let me just lick my toes and the snot off my upper lip first…heh!
6:54 pm on October 4th, 2014
SiberH!…We were distracted from the movie Rio2 because the Renters came over – never a good thing in my experience – for about an hour or so, but once we got back into it there is the most amazing Soccer scenes…heh!…My friend laughed out loud over the announcers…chorkel!…Me, I never laugh out loud, but I did chorkel over it for the longest time…sneeze!
7:30 pm on October 4th, 2014
Rio – we would happily accept Pugly slurpy kisses anytime. Also dainty licks, slobbery Newf schlurps, gentle massage cat paw paws and any and all offers of Tenzig type pillows.
The doctors are all very good. The nurses are all lovely. Its just the brother being difficult and obstinate and uncooperative.
Where can you find a tranquilizer dart gun when you need one?
7:47 pm on October 4th, 2014
Bwak Bwak! Rio, I am a Black Australorp, with amazing green irridescent feathers in the sunshine. It is my sister Cleida Viola who is a redhead.
7:56 pm on October 4th, 2014
Howlers. Were you watching? Was that a Hail Mary or was that a Hail Mary? Good game. And we do know all about that Irish Mist in S. Bend…
Warm thoughts to all.
8:03 pm on October 4th, 2014
Fern – can we get a little chicken peck from a lovely lady with iridescent green feathers?
8:06 pm on October 4th, 2014
Storm coming in from the west. Those of you who sent it know who you are. It’s ominous when it rolls in from Lake Erie which is to the right of the photo. I took this looking south.

8:07 pm on October 4th, 2014
Green!…Like Kermit the Frog green?…gah!…Here I thought Fern was Red…grunt!
8:08 pm on October 4th, 2014

The drywall on the front half of the garage walls and ceilings have been primed and sealed. About ready to start painting. The ceiling and upper 1/4 of the wall will be stark white to reflect the florescent lights and the bottom 3/4 will be a very soft rose color (to hide any dust).
I’ll check back later.
8:26 pm on October 4th, 2014

GO NATIONALS!
night all
11:23 pm on October 4th, 2014
What a game. I came back from taking down the quilt show and needed to nap and when I woke up it was in the 10th inning. So I went downstairs to watch with Mr.Staff. After sleeping through the next 3 innings in the recliner I decided to go to bed for real. Now I can’t believe they are still playing!
I want both teams to win. Washington for Teddy and Wookies Dad and San Fran for Wolfie.
Good luck guys I can’t keep my eyes open.,
11:29 pm on October 4th, 2014
wowzer, a double game in one. I wish I knew where to find it, but by the time I found it, it would probably finally be over. A few years ago, we stayed in a hotel with a high school team that went 24 innings for state champs.
11:30 pm on October 4th, 2014
Rio, update please. What’s happening?
11:32 pm on October 4th, 2014

Great post. I was checking continuously this weblog
and I am impressed! Extremely helpful info specially the remaining part 🙂 I maintain such info much.
I was seeking this certain information for a very lengthy time.
Thanks and best of luck.
