Macy’s Mom, you are in the right place to deal with Rick’s health problems. Keep your clothes on.
9:31 am on March 17th, 2014
Good morning, everyone! What a bunch of travelers you Plunderers are: Alaska, Florida, Massachusetts, Arizona, Texas and others we may have forgotten. Hope OFA, AJ and Rebecca all get home safely. Macy’s Mom and family are in our pawrayers. Isn’t Masquers traveling today too? Glad the pug got home okay. Hey, Rio, jokes about German sausages are the wurst π
Have a momentous Monday.
P.S. OH’s Mom. The interview was with Dallas Seavey and it was on The Weather Channel.
9:47 am on March 17th, 2014
Morning all. The sun is bright, but it is SOOOO cold here.
We want spring
We want spring
We want spring!
(Have we ever mentioned we hate being cold?)
HOH – glad your Mom is home safe and sound.
Macy – keep us informed.
9:54 am on March 17th, 2014
Good morning all.
All of the eastern travelers are safely back at home. Barb needs today to recover and relax. She was forced out of bed this morning at 9:00 when Josh rang the doorbell. She NEVER sleeps till 9:00! Almost no sleep and no bathroom the night before had their effect. Still the trip was wonderful.
T & G, we are more than ready for spring too, but we just heard that more snow is expected several days next week. I guess winter is not ready to release its hold on us yet.
Macy, thoughts are with your mom and dad this morning.
9:58 am on March 17th, 2014
Greetings!
Macy’s Mom: Strong prayers and healing thoughts are coming at you from Westchester. Don’t forget, take good care of yourself, and friends are always near.
A bi-lingual post from Admin this morning.
HOHs: I am snickering at your German joke.
Hope all those that are traveling are safe and sound.
I am still sniffling at Teddy and Zeta’s video. They are a sweet couple.
(whispering) is that really Wookie in the video?
10:03 am on March 17th, 2014
Have a good flight Spence.
HOH: “…German sausages…wurst.” Groan (though I am chuckling).
Loved the video of Teddy and Zeta.
T&G: How is the Storyteller feeling?
Good morning all.
10:09 am on March 17th, 2014
We are happy to hear all East Coast Plunderfest travelers are home (or pseudo home) safe and sound.
HOH, we will look for that interview. Thanks.
We were especially impressed with Aliy’s speech from the Awards banquet. What a role model for girls (and boys) !
Florida???
It is very cold here and Mom had to drive back home this morning because the ice was so bad. She drank coffee, waited for daylight, and switched to the Sibaroo, and went to work.
10:21 am on March 17th, 2014
The Storyteller is feeling good and raring to go. He called about a half hour ago to say he was being released. Then he just called a minute ago to ask if Mama was on her way yet.
Guess he has had enough of backless johnnies, shots, 4am vitals checks etc.
plus we think he misses Mama.
10:22 am on March 17th, 2014
Nuh unh – he missed ME!
10:35 am on March 17th, 2014
The girls and I are so glad Sharon is home. Don’t tell her but we all missed her. Good to hear the Storyteller is going home too. Glad all you girls had fun.
10:36 am on March 17th, 2014

All’s quiet on the midwest front.
Happy St.Paddy’s Day!
11:01 am on March 17th, 2014
Good Morning all–Good wishes to everyone and special strong prayers for Macy’s family. Also for anyone still on the road.
HOH–Your anti-gravity book gave my pals at the library pause–it went right over their heads…
Who is this DDD person? Nicer than his name sounds, I’m sure… (I’m still trying to sort everyone out)
11:19 am on March 17th, 2014
DDD is the Herd of Hounds Moms worse half. (snicker)
11:40 am on March 17th, 2014
Good morning to all. Happy the travelers are safe and sound.
Thoughts with Macy’s family.
Spring? Here in Wisconsin snow is really coming down! Predicted: four inches today, an inch of sleet tomorrow, and two more inches of snow Wednesday, just for fun.
11:47 am on March 17th, 2014
Barb is off to the grocery store to restock the pantry. No fresh food after being gone last week.
They are predicting that the rest of March will be unseasonably cold here too, with snow again next week. No spring planting till at least April 1st.
Dawson, Did Staff have any luck with her call to Amtrak customer service? Re: no bathrooms?
11:59 am on March 17th, 2014
It’s unfair I tell you. Unfair!
Mama says that I cannot celebrate St Pats day by rolling in green paint. Or having green toenails. Or even a green bow.
She says I am Welsh, not Irish.
I say poo! Gilly sounds Irish to me.
So for today, I am designating myself an Irish Wolfhound.
WOOF!
12:03 pm on March 17th, 2014
Dawson, see if we invite you to TN to beat you at cribbage.
12:52 pm on March 17th, 2014
We here are Irish Huskies, and damn proud of it.
12:56 pm on March 17th, 2014
Yeah! Mom is home from the drug store from buying Spongetta (the s-son’s main squeeze) stuff for her cold. Gah! How does she get sucked into situations that suck? Maybe she’s an all day sucker π
2:25 pm on March 17th, 2014
Dirty D Dawg: You bested me multiple times at cribbage. She only bested me once. That makes you worse. I considered for one half of one second calling her the worst half and decided I’d rather face the wrath of a man than the wrath of a woman. Heh!
2:37 pm on March 17th, 2014
Danny Seavey wrote a recap of his race. Yowzer! That was scary.
2:43 pm on March 17th, 2014
I am not an Irish Husky so why do I have to wear this crazy stuff?!?! Sometimes I really don’t like my Mom although I love her. Happy St Patricks Day everybody!

2:56 pm on March 17th, 2014
Dawson: Why would you rather face the wrath of a man than the wrath of a woman? (That’s a real question…. I’m curious.)
Glad the Storyteller is coming home and feels better.
Anything further on Rick?
3:01 pm on March 17th, 2014
Cherokee, You need to run away. Now!!!
3:16 pm on March 17th, 2014
(Whispering) I think it was Wookie’s spirit in the video.
Thinking of Macy today, and will be glad when Bella checks in.
3:16 pm on March 17th, 2014
(Whispering) I think it was Wookie’s spirit in the video.
Thinking of ML today, and will be glad when Bella checks in.
3:39 pm on March 17th, 2014
BStover: How did I know you would ask this question? The answer is simply that I perceive the wrath of a woman would be harder to withstand than the wrath of a man.
I’m afraid there will be another question.
I have to prepare to have my taxes done tomorrow, gah!
4:13 pm on March 17th, 2014
Good morning or afternoon from a snowy Nome, Alaska. Now that I’ve had a chance to collect some of my thoughts I wanted to say thank you yet again for a successful iditarod. Rebecca and I are very grateful for your support and friendship.
More will be forthcoming about this race but suffice it to say it was a challenge from start to finish. Early on I broke my runner and brake in the most dangerous part and contemplated whether or not I would be able to go on. None the less the team performed with exceptional skill including Rio who never rested and awl ways wanted to go on. Weather conspired against us though as we got to Shaktoolik and found ourselves pinned down for 16 hours longer than I wanted to be. Thereby allowing the field I had worked to pass to catch up to us. Learning experience.
Finally though we reached Nome with a happy but tired dog team who is now resting back home. Last night we held the finishers banquet where each musher has a chance to speak. Usually this is a boisterous affair where no one listens to each other. However, as I spoke I chose to speak about Melanie and her battle with cancer. Subtly the room became very still and focused as these previous strangers listened and honored Melanie’s life. The team and I were fortunate to take her along on the trail and to be able to share a little of Melanie and all of you with Iditarod.
Moving forward I’m not sure what next year will bring. We all share the same trail though and I look forward to seeing you a little on down the way.
AJ

HRH B: to sorta, kinda paraphrase Shakespeare, ” Hell hath no fury like a woman (scorned or otherwise)”.
4:23 pm on March 17th, 2014
AJ- thank you. From my heart, thank you.
4:28 pm on March 17th, 2014
AJ: the gods and you are in our pawayers.
4:30 pm on March 17th, 2014
Checking in! I am checking in from Nome where we are waiting for our plane that doesn’t leave until late tonight. I have the honor of passing the time with a very handsome musher! Yark!
4:36 pm on March 17th, 2014
Thank you A.J.
4:39 pm on March 17th, 2014
Make that the most handsome musher.
I second AJ’s gratitude for your support and friendship. Headbumps.
ML: It’s already been said, but you know you can count on the Plunderers for support. We are in your corner. Our best to you and Mr. Macy’s Dad.
4:43 pm on March 17th, 2014
Thank you, A.J.
Staff said a couple of nights ago that she was saddened not to be able to meet Melanie, her sister of the heart. Melanie was so exceptional that I wager all of us considered her to be our sister of the heart.
5:08 pm on March 17th, 2014
Thank you AJ; as we grieve the loss of Melanie, we are thankful that you dedicated the race to her and that she inspired you to not give up. We know in our hearts that it would have been your year to race ahead of the pack but the weather this year made an already difficult race almost impossible. We are just glad you and the dogs finished tired and sore but without major injuries. I hope rest and relaxation will be on your agenda for the next several days. You will be returning home to more snow. And, of course, happy dogs (and puppies) await.
SnowBella: how soon do you have to return to work? Have a great day with your favorite musher.
5:09 pm on March 17th, 2014
“Heaven has no rage, like love to hatred turned,/ Nor Hell a fury, like a woman scorned” (The Mourning Bride by William Congreve).
Dawson: I agree. (Not another question…LOL.)
Thank you Rebecca and AJ.
5:26 pm on March 17th, 2014
Thanks, AJ. You are a man of great integrity and humility. I am already looking toward Iditarod 2015!
You lucky girl, Pixie!
HRH, B : Nice GOOGLE DOODLE for Saint Patrick’s Day.
T&G: EVERYONE is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. Grizz is part Irish. He celebrated by eating Irish soda bread.
C.Hobbit: Thank you for the package!
5:27 pm on March 17th, 2014
Wolfie: You doubled Dawsoned! : )
5:31 pm on March 17th, 2014
Rose: Yes, I think today’s Google Doodle is neat.
5:32 pm on March 17th, 2014
Mom is so tired that every time she sits down today her eyelids get heavy. We don’t know what y’all did to her but her smile hasn’t stopped shining since we saw her last night. Dog bless all Plunderers.
AJ and Pixie, rest, relax and spoil those dawgs π
5:35 pm on March 17th, 2014
Even us Norwegian Forest Kats are Irish today.
Pass the green beer!
5:43 pm on March 17th, 2014
Barb is part Irish, and Irish part is cooking corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots and celery, otherwise known as a boiled dinner. Serving with rye bread, and not Irish soda bread, of which we are not big fans.
HOH, Barb felt the same way last night, falling asleep on the sofa by 9:00. Slept till 9:00 tis morning, so she is feeling human finally (is that a good thing?).
5:54 pm on March 17th, 2014
Barb: Good is whatever you want it to be!
HRH B: Knew you’d have the answer π
Mom is Heintz 57 and will celebrate any and everything.
6:10 pm on March 17th, 2014
RIO? Are you drinking green beer? Missing you on this here blog.
6:19 pm on March 17th, 2014
Mostly Packing & Lurking Today, but wanted to say a Big Thank You to AJ for his wonderful post and Completion of this year’s Unusual Race…The Race that will surely go down in the Annals of Iditarod History as One of a Kind.
Hoping you and Rebecca are getting some rest before heading home to Willow.
Irish-Norwegian Kool Kats on the Blog!
The boys’ father’s mom was Irish through and through so we have Irish in Our Family too!
Nana is not, but as Wose says…on St. Paddy’s Day Everyone is Irish.
C.Hobbit! Thank You so much!
Macy’s Dad & Mom in our Thoughts & Prayers.
6:46 pm on March 17th, 2014
Rio: Meet us by your favorite tree in your backyard. We are going to blur by some wings of the hot variety and beer. Lefty has plenty of tails from the trail that need to be told.
6:56 pm on March 17th, 2014
Thanks AJ for the update and the dedication to our dear friend. Safe travels home to the kennel. Rio isn’t a quitter…wonder from whom he gets that trait? How’d the WosenGrizz sled fare? You “done good” on the race. I hope all your bruises and sore ribs heal quickly. We love you and TBDHW forever.
BearSpiritDog: Have fun while you are in Montana!
Barb&Maggie: The part of me that is Irish would love to be eating your boiled dinner.
7:04 pm on March 17th, 2014
Dawson, We will send some boiled dinner your way. Just keep the salty corned beef away from dad!
7:07 pm on March 17th, 2014
AJ, yes, Grizz and I were just wondering today how the Wosengrizz sled held up.
7:11 pm on March 17th, 2014
Smiling at the little excerpt of “Paw & Order” to the right.
7:22 pm on March 17th, 2014
Wose: who wants squarshed kat?
7:33 pm on March 17th, 2014
If a kat were on the bottom of a hundred plus pounder…it would be squarshed π
7:40 pm on March 17th, 2014
Burp!…I’ve been outside drinking green beer and eating hot-wings with Pancho and Lefty!…snort!snort!…Those guys are party-animals…heh!heh!…burp!
BluKat!..Special wink and nod to BluKat for the great green card…heh!heh!
7:45 pm on March 17th, 2014
A.J. Great post from a true gentleman. We are all already looking forward to next year’s race.
7:53 pm on March 17th, 2014
Rio: I am pleased to tell you that Jr.’s eyebrows made it across the finish line. So did Jem and Jem’s nose, plus the spot on my left ear.
8:06 pm on March 17th, 2014
AJ!….That’s maw boy!…snort!….Junior makes me proud every time he runs…snorkel!…He is no quitter by golly by gosh…chuffle!
8:12 pm on March 17th, 2014
Lefty, You done good! So did the rest of the team. And how about Mom’s favorite, Clyde, who she nominated for Rookie of the Year? A lead dog, no less!
AJ, thank you for posting. We have been reading stories about the trail, and they are all mind-blowingly scary. Funny thing is that we never doubted that you were plundering on, and would be one of the proud finishers. Finishing this race this year was a feat to be sure.
Bella, REST EAT REPEAT.
8:22 pm on March 17th, 2014
Our mom fell in love with Clyde, too. Also Frank who came close to finishing. AJ, we know you know best when it comes to your safety and the safety of the dogs, but mom needs to replace all the cushions in the house before next year!
8:43 pm on March 17th, 2014
Going to do a “Barb” and hit the hay early tonight as mom has a busy day tomorrow and says we are not invited π Should be near 60. hope so. Nighty night.
8:58 pm on March 17th, 2014
Nighty night here too. We were outside all evening in the cold, fighting bird netting for our new chick yard. It was a LOT of bird netting.
9:06 pm on March 17th, 2014
Nighty night HOH. Barb is staying up later then you tonight. So there.
9:12 pm on March 17th, 2014
Faith and begora – surely you don’t think we are giving up our day of being Irish quite so early.
Why, tis only the shank o the evenin.
We ‘re still waiting for some corned beef!
9:31 pm on March 17th, 2014
McS and OB, We had corned beef and it was sooo good. How is your papa tonight? Hope he is all better.
OK, now Barb is going to bed.
10:38 pm on March 17th, 2014
Surprise! Our Lady surprised the Giant tonight with first class tickets on their plan ride home. She figured she earned so many air miles the past several months that a surprise for AJ was in order! Yeep!
11:21 pm on March 17th, 2014
After a race like this, AJ deserves nothing but first class everything!
Clink-I lift my glass to the Giant and his Pixie!
Clink – I lift my glass to each and every Plunderer and their four leggeds!
Clink – I lift my glass to the Purple blaze in the night sky!
Bottoms Up!!!!!!!
10:32 pm on March 18th, 2014
I was teaching quilting all afternoon and evening today. Home about 9:30 and Dawson was simmering ham hocks and ex large butter beans. YUM!
I am going to get ready for bed now also. Still a little sleepy after the long trip.
Barb I haven’t called Amtrak yet. May not. Sort of lazy now about it.
Nighty noodle.
