Grooooooaaannnnnnnn. Tough getting up this morning, because people were her til all hours. The only one of us who was able to sleep thru the hoopla was Dima, who will spread out on the sofa no matter who is here.
Collective shake. O.K. Back to tip-top.
Good Sunday Egg day to youse all!
Hat tip to Nancy D., whoever you are.
8:49 am on October 21st, 2012
Oley, That would probably be our Staff. She is a Nancy D.
Happy Egg Day back at ya!
8:53 am on October 21st, 2012
Oh yeah…Staff. Duh. We have not yet read the puppy story. We are catching up on our game that we never had time to watch yesterday.
9:11 am on October 21st, 2012
Good morning all.
9:17 am on October 21st, 2012
We saw that story on the news the other night. Thank dog mama doggies can sniff out their little ones, huh? What is wrong with human noses??
Mama and Dad are driving Gramp to church and the going out for breakfast. Eggs Benedict on crab cakes. Woo Hoo!
(Gramp is still recovering from eye surgery and can’t see very well at all right now. Thank dog he knows enough NOT to drive!)
9:27 am on October 21st, 2012
Good morning. We have had such a busy weekend so far. I think my family should just chill out today. I know I’m going to. I’ll start with a nap in Mommy’s lap while she reads the paper. Zzzzzz
9:35 am on October 21st, 2012
Good morning from the Medical Center in Houston! Dad is feeling much better and may get out of ICU today. Each step forward is great.
Have a great Sunday, everybody!
9:48 am on October 21st, 2012
Wonderful news, G&BB. We continue to send prayers and love to your dad and your family.
9:57 am on October 21st, 2012
G&BB, very good news! Happy Sunday to you!
10:03 am on October 21st, 2012
Your Majesty Princess Sam, I can’t wait to meet you this week. I have never yet met real royalty. Will you be shopping for a warm coat with us?
10:12 am on October 21st, 2012
Kat, I will be wearing my pink snuggie. I’ll ask Molly’s Mom to post a picture of me in it. I love my snuggie. It’s comfy cozy.
10:46 am on October 21st, 2012
Good Morning All
G&BB We appreciate your keeping us informed. You dad is making good progress! Prayers and positive thoughts continue every day for your dad and family.
Kat (whispering) You have met Royals before…T&G
Now, you will know three Royals, which is three more than me.
10:49 am on October 21st, 2012
T&G? They took me into their home and treated me like family. They are so down to earth and didn’t even wear crowns, so I had no idea. Thanks for clueing me in, Siber.
10:52 am on October 21st, 2012
That pink snuggie might help deter hawks as well as keeping you warm, little one.
Encouraging news from G&B. Your dad is in our prayers every day.
Busy morning here. Barb is running down to see Kelly’s painting project in Lily’s room. Then back home and Josh is coming over to help (ie do) plant 7 bushes that Barb bought for the front yard. 1 Blue Muffin Viburnum, 3 boxwood and 3 hydrangias.
10:55 am on October 21st, 2012
Good Morning!
Those Eggs Benedict are sounding mighty good right about now.
11:06 am on October 21st, 2012
BSD, You are right about the Eggs Benedict, and crab cakes are one of Barb’s favorite things in the whole world.
Hope Zoe and Melanie are feeling better this morning.
11:09 am on October 21st, 2012
Chet & Nancy D: Thanks for the Feel Good story to start our day.
Rio: We see you enjoyed the latest Sherlock movie.
Last night we watched one Wose and some of youse Yankee fans might be interested in seeing: A Love Affair – The Eleanor and Lou Gehrig Story. Someone here loved seeing the styles from that era.
Dear Gus&BooBear: So happy to hear your dad is improving and will soon be out of ICU. Much love and healing thoughts continue to come your way.
11:19 am on October 21st, 2012
Nancy D. Hmmmm I should have used my ‘real’ name.
11:20 am on October 21st, 2012
Greetings All!
G&BB, what great news to start the day with! Prayers still going out to your dad, and hugs to your mom. Scritches to you guys for doing such a good job taking care of your mom!!
Kat, I have met the Royal Mum and Dad. They are just the best! Hopefully, someday I will meet the four- legged Royals! If Sammie blurs over with the Smoochers on Wednesday, I will get to meet the Princess too!
T&G, prayers still coming for Gramp and Callie. Hope everyone enjoyed their breakfast!
11:24 am on October 21st, 2012
Bear, I am interested in the movie you saw. The only Lou Gehrig film I am familiar with is “The Pride of the Yankees” with Gary Cooper and Teresa Wright, which was made back in the 40’s. Please tell me more about the film you saw.
P.S. “Pride of the Yankees” is one of my favorite films….I love Gary Cooper.
11:39 am on October 21st, 2012
Mom loves Gary Cooper, too, especially in Westerns, but he was perfect as Lou Gehrig. He even looked like the real Lou Gehrig.
11:40 am on October 21st, 2012
I watched a bit of Gary Cooper last night in “Sergeant York”.
Zoe remembers it big screen and everyone clapped when he won the shooting contest.
Things are improving here. Zoe is taking the Pack out for their walk/run. I am not quite there yet. Jesse is here doing the lawn today because Friday was a wash out.
I haven’t seen the latest Sherlock movie, but I totally enjoy the BBC “Sherlock”.
Going to try to do things today abet slowllllyyyyy.
11:41 am on October 21st, 2012
Oh, Thanks for that info STAFF. I find that the Pack always is willing to help if one of us has fallen (tripped over one of them). They gather around and give licks and then stretch out on top of us while they inspect us.
We then need to change our clothes.
11:46 am on October 21st, 2012
Hat tip to Nancy D!
T&G: A crab cake egg benedict. I want one!
Gus&BooBear: Hoorah for the continuing good news. Prayers ongoing.
A blowy snowy day. Shoveling is in my immediate future.
11:56 am on October 21st, 2012
Here’s Little Sammie in her Snuggie.
12:04 pm on October 21st, 2012
Oh, Your Majesty, you look like one of my adorable little stuffties.
12:05 pm on October 21st, 2012
Wose: It was a 1978 TV movie based on Eleanor Gehrig’s 1976 biography “My Luke & I”. With Blythe Danner and Edward Herrmann in the leading roles, the story spanned his glory years 1923-1939 with press footage skillfully woven into the storyline.
Nana loves that time in American history when gangstas reigned in Chicago and the Pride of the Yankees and The Babe played their best in New York.
12:08 pm on October 21st, 2012
Oops forgot I now have my own avatar.
12:16 pm on October 21st, 2012
Sammie: You will look simply mashing on your first Smoocher Mission in your kool pink snuggie.
The Howlers lived up to their name last night. The kats yowled, the dogs howled and a good time was had by all.
Kat! You do. You have your very own avatar. WoooHooo!
Dawson: We certainly cannot exclude you from the list of those residing in the frozen tundra. Keep those logs in the fireplaces burning.
12:48 pm on October 21st, 2012
Kat, I am NOT a squeaky toy.
1:07 pm on October 21st, 2012
Siber and Rose: The 1942 Gary Cooper film looks like a good one. I will be checking it out on Netflix.
B: (whispering) are you per chance in the pie baking mood today?
1:09 pm on October 21st, 2012
Gus and BooBear we can see you are doing a good job taking care of your Mom while she takes care of your Pop. congratulations on the good news. We love to hear it.
Sam. Good thing you are not a squeaky toy. I bet you could be a squeaky dog though. snicker.
1:19 pm on October 21st, 2012
Staff: Have been meaning to let you know…the Oxalis seedlings you sent are sprouting! This is good news after that raccoon played havoc with the pots soon after they had been set out on the deck. We are assuming they need to be replanted at some point…how large should the new container be?
1:22 pm on October 21st, 2012
My stuffed animals are bigger than Sam, but she is cleaner than some of them.
1:43 pm on October 21st, 2012
Bear,
The pot does not have to be very deep. The one I have mine in now is fairly shallow. They also don’t mind being crowded so I would make it maybe an inch or so larger than the pile of the corms was wide. I bet a 6-8 inch shallow pot would be fine. (I can’t remember how many I gave you) They were in about a 12 inch pot that was about 10 inches deep before and I didn’t repot them for about 6 years. (they really needed it though)
It was this pot…
1:44 pm on October 21st, 2012
Oops

1:51 pm on October 21st, 2012
Parked car outside this week while cleaning and sorting the garage. Now it is hooked up to a battery charger (don’t ask). I should be mobile in a few hours.
G&BB: thinking of you everyday and sending you prayers and positive energy.
1:56 pm on October 21st, 2012
Staff: great photo. Cats and sunshine go well together. I miss having a cat and photos like this makes me want to adopt one (or two).
Sammie: you couldn’t look cuter if you tried. Are your nose and eyes really the same size? I think your next snuggie should be white with black polka dots–just a suggestion. And are you guarding the remote for some reason?
1:58 pm on October 21st, 2012
Princess, my stuffties don’t squeak (anymore) either.
2:02 pm on October 21st, 2012
I like to destroy the squeakies in my toys right off the bat. Then, I like to destroy the squeakies our of Tenzing’s toys.
2:07 pm on October 21st, 2012
We just returned from a Fall foliage expedition.

2:15 pm on October 21st, 2012
Thank you, Staff.
btw. Alice, you look lovely as usual.
O.Howlers: So nice to see all four of you out for a walk on this beautiful autumn day.
2:17 pm on October 21st, 2012
O.Howlers: Are some of youse off leash?
2:18 pm on October 21st, 2012
Alice, you are a purrfectly gorgeous cat.
2:19 pm on October 21st, 2012
Masquers: I’m always in a pie-baking mood. Let’s see…apples are still in season here.
Later I’m going to watch the new Sherlock Holmes movie on On Demand. Yesterday I watched the third episode of Elementary (after watching the first two episodes again on On Demand).
2:21 pm on October 21st, 2012
I’m wondering what it would be like to walk four huskies on-leash.
2:44 pm on October 21st, 2012
B: Apple pie sounds Good. Ala mode for me!
2:44 pm on October 21st, 2012
OMD Bear, we are never allowed off leash when we away from home. We don’t know why. What do they think we would do?
2:45 pm on October 21st, 2012
Oops forgot…Go Tigers!
2:52 pm on October 21st, 2012
B: I’m not sure of the conversion, but I think a four sibers are equal to one wild horse.
2:52 pm on October 21st, 2012
Barb and Maggiw asked about Sierra Nevada last night. They are a microbrew in California. We love their American Pale Ale. It is amber and rich, with just the right amount of hops.
3:00 pm on October 21st, 2012
Rio: Sorry, we never made it to you last night. We met up with a gang of MGs and it took a bit to lose them. They were on our tail for a while and we didn’t want to lead them to you.
3:15 pm on October 21st, 2012
Sammie — I have to tell you that you are tres adorable in your snuggle. Woo! Woo!
Gus & Boo Bear — Yhanks for the updates. Your dad is definitely in our prayers here in Chevy Chase.
As regards baseball movies, there are so many good ones to choose from, although one of our favorites is an oldie from 1949, called “It Happens Every Spring” with Ray Milland.
Wookie
3:24 pm on October 21st, 2012
Gus and BooBear – that is a GREAT step forward. We will keep the prayers going, and hope the pathology report comes in SOON with negative signs of bad cells.
Wookie – Callie wants to know if you are flirting with Sammie. She thinks that maybe you have a thing for fluffy white doggies, no matter what size. Callie doesn’t have a pink snuggie but she does have a regal looking dark grey ThunderShirt. Its very slimming. Mama says she may get one herself.
She also said the Crab Cakes Benedict were heavenly. WE wouldn’t know. WE didn’t get any. huff!
3:43 pm on October 21st, 2012
What a morning. I was feeling a bit blue because AJ is harnessing up the team and I’m not on it. Not being on the team is called retirement. Getting in the team’s way just as they are about to leave is also retirement. It was because of the latter, that AJ brought me inside to My Lady. As I was staring out the window, howling and feeling bad, My Lady siddled up to me and gave me a Slim Jim. Retirement is great.
3:51 pm on October 21st, 2012
T&G — I bet that Callie is absolutely stunning in her dark grey Thundershirt. Woo! Woo! I’m always a big fan of formal wear.
Wookie
4:16 pm on October 21st, 2012
Thanks, Wookie, it looks like another good movie. However, I am having trouble finding it on Netflix. Do you know where it would be available?
4:46 pm on October 21st, 2012
BSD — Unfortunately, it apparently has never been released as a DVD, although it is possible that it might be released in the future. For those who remember ancient technologies, I believe there is a VHS version. I also don’t know if it might be available on some sort of on demand service (we don’t subscribe to any, so just not familiar with what might be in inventory).
Wookie
5:02 pm on October 21st, 2012
Bear, thanks for the 411 on the film. I may have seen it when it was first shown on tv.
Masquers, I think you will love “The Pride of the Yankees”.
Sammie, you look lovely in your pink snuggie.
OHs, that is a great picture of youse guys out on a beautiful fall day!
Kat: Wow! Look at you with your own avatar!
5:08 pm on October 21st, 2012
Hey, has anyone heard from Kirby T?
Hi, Rio! Where are you?
5:10 pm on October 21st, 2012
Looks like everyone is having a good day. Josh is on his way over to plant those 7 bushes, which has turned into 8. Now have added a Burning Bush for the outside corner. BBL
5:10 pm on October 21st, 2012
Tenzing, what could be better than being with your Lady, and munching on a Slim Jim!?
5:15 pm on October 21st, 2012
Wookie, Tell your Dad that Dawson left me with a bunch of Lisa Scottoline books and I started, luckily, with her first one. I am now on her third. I had to go to the Paperback Exchange and get a bunch more. It took me a while to get into them. I have been looking at them for over a month. I don’t know why I waited. I should know by now that he can pick books for me.
5:15 pm on October 21st, 2012
So far this Sherlock Holmes movie is a very bad parody.
5:23 pm on October 21st, 2012
Whew, Zoë does not have an off button.
Tried to keep up just a second ago with everyone, but it started all blurring together like when Wölfie goes by in a flash.
We did get the cover on the pool. Perchance it would have been better to wait until I felt better? But at least it’s done.
5:25 pm on October 21st, 2012
Rose, thanks for telling us about Argo. We saw the previews and thought it looked good. Our problem is that we will never remember it when it releases on dvd or to Prime. We miiss Netflix for that reason. As soon as a movie was in the theatres that sounded good, we would put in our wait queue.
5:42 pm on October 21st, 2012
Pancho & Lefty – we are also pretty eclectic in music taste. My ipod has everything from Philip Glass to the Dropkick Murphys. Only once or twice a decade do I hear something that knocks me out and makes me a fan for life. So it was with Steve Earle.
5:50 pm on October 21st, 2012
Wookie: We just so happen to have a old VHS tape player. Trying Amazon to see if they have it listed.
Wose: Thinking here of Kirby also and have been for a while. Does anyone have EmergTree info for him? It has been a long time since we’ve he last posted.
5:53 pm on October 21st, 2012
Terry: Our Lady feels the same way about the Steeldrivers, a band she found out about on this here blog. One listen and she was addicted. What’s your take on Slim Jims? Are you a fan?
5:57 pm on October 21st, 2012
BSD: I just realized I have KirbyT’s cell phone number from when I met his mom this summer. Do you think I should give her a call? I sent an email to her last week, but haven’t received a response.
6:10 pm on October 21st, 2012
I think you should call. We care.
6:14 pm on October 21st, 2012
SnowBella: I was thinking the same thing. Do call.
6:17 pm on October 21st, 2012
One of Mr.Staffs favorites. Mine too. Can You Run?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZYcQe9bu3s
6:24 pm on October 21st, 2012
Bella, please make that call.
6:32 pm on October 21st, 2012
Call!
Maybe Zoë needs a rheostat. I have exhausted myself. Going to watch some “Sherlock”.
6:42 pm on October 21st, 2012
Breaking news! This just in! Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
I sent KibryT’s mom a text because I didn’t want to interupt a Sunday dinner. She responded quickly with the following:
“Sorry to worry you. I’m having computer issues. I hope to have thme solved and get back on the blog soon. Give everyone my best!”
I responded, she responded, long story short, she is alright and KirbyT should be getting scritches from me by proxy.
6:50 pm on October 21st, 2012
Rebecca, thanks for checking up on Kirby T. And his mom. I was really worried.
6:53 pm on October 21st, 2012
OHs: I write every movie the Prof and I see on the calendar. At the new year, we go back and look at all the films we’ve seen. I won’t let you forget about ARGO.
6:58 pm on October 21st, 2012
Sammie: Do you need me to pick you up on our way to Wose this week? Or, do you have your license to blur?
7:19 pm on October 21st, 2012
Staff: Thank you for the link. Love the Steeldrivers!
SnowBella: Computer problems. Now everything makes sense. We were concerned Kirby’s mom had not responded to your email. Relieved to know they are okay.
Now where is Rio…..
7:27 pm on October 21st, 2012
Luna, it seems that the Smoochers are becoming a bigger and bigger group. How do you blur them all?
7:29 pm on October 21st, 2012
Rebecca, Thank you for texting. That is a relief. I will be glad when Kirby can return to the blog.
7:55 pm on October 21st, 2012
MGs = Marauding Goats.
MGs = R&B band (and Booker T.)
7:58 pm on October 21st, 2012
Game!…On!…snort!…Walk over!…wheeze!…Someone was terribly busy today out shopping with her SIL…sniff!…Still looking for that exercise machine…grunt!…Apparently she had no luck because there still isn’t one in this here basement…heh!heh!
7:58 pm on October 21st, 2012
Rebecca – A couple of years ago Siber-H was missing. We didn’t have each other’s phone numbers yet but luckily I found Siber-H’s and called. His Mom had been in bed with the flu.
8:00 pm on October 21st, 2012
Wose: Masquers is an excellent blurrer and needs no help from me. Belle Starr has her learner’s permit, but that doesn’t amount to much. As long as we don’t get caught in any storms, the blurring is usually easily going, thanks to our excellent teacher, Wolfie. Sam is so small, I can have her on my back while I blur Kat or Belle Starr by the scruff. Neither of them wiggles or weighs as much as AJ. Blurring a Giant is an entirely different story.
8:10 pm on October 21st, 2012
Rio, They sell treadmills made for dogs.
8:10 pm on October 21st, 2012
Jinx!…I want to say something very badly about this game…sniff!…But I do not want to jinx it for the team I will not mention….snuffle!wheeze!….SiberH are you watching this do or die game?…grunt!
8:17 pm on October 21st, 2012
Luna, I will need to be picked up. I don’t know how to blur.
8:25 pm on October 21st, 2012
Sammie!…Watch out! Wookie will probably want to borrow your pink snuggie…heh!heh!
8:25 pm on October 21st, 2012
Woooo!…The game is really fun to watch right now!….Woooooo!heh!heh!Wooooooo!
8:28 pm on October 21st, 2012
Princess Sam: I will pick you up on our way, drop you and Belle Starr off with Wose and then get Kat. I have a few simple rules for blurring: keep the wiggling to a minimum, go to the bathroom before we leave, and bring snacks.
8:28 pm on October 21st, 2012
Rio, I am watching, but I am also afraid to say anything.
8:30 pm on October 21st, 2012
Pretty good game, so far…heh, heh.
The dog whisperer had a dog walking on a tread mill on an episode I saw today.
8:33 pm on October 21st, 2012
P&L – don’t know either of those acts, but will check them out tomorrow. Thanks!
8:42 pm on October 21st, 2012
Thanks for checking on Kirby. Glad to know all is OK.
Staff, We here love Lisa Scottoline and I believe have read all her books. We read them in order. She is a great dog lover, and her early dogs were all Goldens.
8:49 pm on October 21st, 2012
OTAS uses a treadmill for his Papi when the weather is bad.
Yea! Kirby T. Penworthy is okay.
Told YSAS that I was watching “Hound of the Baskervilles” tonight. He said that was a good one. He was right. He also said that the last one of the second season is excellent. That is for tomorrow.
Right now? It’s that time. TTFN
8:58 pm on October 21st, 2012
Melanie!…Goodnight!…snort!…I sure hope you and Zoe are feeling much better tomorrow after a good nights sleep with your paws straight up in the air (like Beau)…chuffle!
9:01 pm on October 21st, 2012
Film!… The only halloween movie we enjoy around here is “The Legend of Sleepy Hallow”…sniff!… Someone remembers seeing a version of it with Jeff Goldblum as Ichabod Crane, and it is her favorite. Do you think we can find it on Netflix?? …grunt!…Nope! Do any of youse guys remember seeing this version?…sniff!
9:02 pm on October 21st, 2012
OleyHowlers: Love the fall foliage exhibition picture. Beautiful. Today I could do a winter foliage picture that you would love but me…not so much. I have to plug in my full spectrum light for some extra light.
Staff: Lisa Scottoline…one of those books is for sale in the MMS. I’d be willing to throw the others in as a bonus if someone would want them.
9:13 pm on October 21st, 2012
Gah!…Cardinals got a hit…grump!…Stupid announcer guy…grumble!
9:26 pm on October 21st, 2012
Dawson: Speaking of the full spectrum lights have you seen the ones that act like an alarm clock? The lamplight gradually increases allowing you to wake up slowly instead of being jarred awake by a buzzer, ringing or loud music.
Three of our favs coming on soon…Once Upon A Time, Revenge and 666 Park Avenue.
So – will see everyone tomorrow – Bear
9:28 pm on October 21st, 2012
We are so glad that Rebecca contacted Kirby’s mom, and all is o.k., except for that darn computer. We here are watching “Night of Too Mant Stars”.
Mom likes Lisa Scottoline too, although she knows her from audio tapes in th car. She especially loves the Philly locales and personalities.
Kat has learned to counter surf. Trigger lessons?
9:36 pm on October 21st, 2012
BSD: I have heard tell of those lights but have not seen them in action. I think they would be the cat’s meow.
9:53 pm on October 21st, 2012
OH: Heh, Heh, Heh.
9:54 pm on October 21st, 2012
Oh my Dear Niece Kat – Not counter surfing yet at such a young age. They grow up too fast. Oh dear, oh dear.
9:58 pm on October 21st, 2012
We are saying good night too. Bushes are all planted and it looks great. Josh is quite good at landscape design.
Chet’s friend Izzy was up above. He has one white ear and one black, although he does not look to be a 100 + pounder.
10:01 pm on October 21st, 2012
Well for us the weekend is over. Good night all.
10:03 pm on October 21st, 2012
Weekend!…It’s not over till the fat lady sings…sniff!…Oh, she just did. And she forgot the words to God Bless America….grunt!….Where do they find these people?
10:06 pm on October 21st, 2012
Buster!…SiberH, do you think Buster Posey will wear a Rockies uniform?…sniff!….I just love that guy. I want him to be on my team so badly…wuffle!
10:13 pm on October 21st, 2012
Rio, I don’t think the Rockies can afford Buster. We could start taking up a collection to buy him. I love him, too, and he is just getting started in his career.
10:15 pm on October 21st, 2012
Kat has the long legs to be a natural at counter surfing.
10:17 pm on October 21st, 2012
Afford!…Wadda ya mean they can’t afford him?…sniff!…My friend spends a fortune everytime she goes to a game (without me)….grunt!…Surely they can afford that youngster. The question is whether he would be happy coming here or not…grunt!…Now with no Jim Tracy – I have no idea what next year will look like now…wuffle!… Me and my friend were all excited about next year what with all the young super-stars up and coming. But now we are confused…sob!
10:19 pm on October 21st, 2012
Rumor!…I heard a rumor that Giambi wants to be the Manager…gasp!…This is probably old news, but I am behind on the rumor-mill lately…gurgle!
10:27 pm on October 21st, 2012
Golinka!…My friend keeps thinking of her Great Grandma, what does this mean??…sniffle!
10:39 pm on October 21st, 2012
