Good morning, everyone! Glad OFA is coming along. Those typos will heal themselves when the dancing giraffes go away. Last night’s list of funded Snowhook dogs was impressive! We hope the Anchorage weather does indeed bring snow. Willow seems to be a bit colder.
    Have a trusty Thursday.

Okay…I’m laughing. I wonder what would happen if we had “typo check” in addition to “spell check.” Chaos!

I hope you’re feeling better Admin. Take care.

    Good morning all.

I never could get the hang of Thursdays.

So, OK…first, been wondering for ages, but what exactly are we plundering?

Thanks for the good wishes for Melanie. She had her dialysis yesterday (third round), and she tells me they got six pounds of fluid off her (!!!!) “No wonder I can’t breathe,” she says. Yeah, we agree.

ML: No, Leno isn’t in any danger of imminent retirement. In fact, he’s tip top. Being tip top, and four years in, I figured it would be a goo time to get #4 started. I mean from total scratch. So new pups got themselves born on Isaac Asimov’s birthday, January 2, and I’ll get to meet them on the 31st, and one will come home with me at the end of February/beginning of March. I figure by the time new pup is 18 months to two years, I hope to have training of new pup well on its way. By then, Leno will have been working for six years and some, which is about when my last two retired. If he wants to keep working, he can, nothing says I can’t have two guides and take one or the other when one or the other feels like going and the other can kick backk for a trip. Anyway, my plan is for Leno to teach new pup everything he knows. Or at least help with that. New picture got posted…I guess maybe they’re starting to become less of a pile of puppies now maybe.

    Good morning y’all!

Good morning, all. We are laughing, too, over the post today.

Buddy, are you going to do all the training yourself? Or will the pup get some training for a professional group like Guiding Eyes?

OK, here is a question for some of you football types. What is the advantage to an under inflated ball? I understand that the Pats are being accused of cheating because 11 of 12 footballs were under inflated, but what is the advantage?

The typo problem must be catching. That should be from a professional group.

    Greetings!

B,M, and L: Having an underinflated football gives the quarterback, receivers, and anyone else who touches the ball a better grip, particularly in the extreme cold weather. If that football had been inflated properly, the Pats may have won, but maybe the score might have been 21-7, instead of 45-7.

Not that I am a football fan, but in my humble opinion, knowing that the Pats have cheated on more than one occasion, I think the win should go to the Colts by default. Sorry, Spence.

Admin, hope you are tip-top soon!

  7. MTMP

Why would they trust one team with the responsibility of inflating the balls? Can’t one of those zebra guys be in charge? There are certainly enough of them.

Mom is off to try to play “42” at the senior center again this a.m. She would rather crawl back in bed on this dreary morning but the doc said that is a no-no. I don’t know why. I am going to wrap myself back up in my new blankie until she gets home.

Mom is so excited! The first picture of Gus mom sent to GLAD for the pencil drawing she won at the Snowhook auction was not in focus, so GLAD asked for a better copy to be sent. Mom found another picture of him (in focus) that GLAD really likes and she is going to do that one. Mom can’t wait to see the finished product!!

Barb 42 is the state game of Texas. It is played with dominoes. Can’t tell you much more than that, because mom in a dunce at it, but she keeps showing up, hoping to get the hang of it. There are 42 possible points in a hand, hence the name.

BooBear: I can’t wait to see the pencil drawing of Gus! I am looking forward to the May page of the calendar, since youse are on it, and I love the picture of Gus that your mom sent.

    B,M, and L: I agree with that 81%.

    Under inflation

Anyone who lives in cold weather can tell you that your car tires that are perfectly inflated in average weather will be less inflated when it is cold and more inflated when it is hot.

That is the affect temperature has on air/water.

So I am of the opinion that the balls were inflated inside, perfectly, and then when they got outside in the cold they uninflated because that is just the way it is.

And if it is going to be that much of a deal then the league, those bird hating ba*tards, should just be the ones who judge the footballs worthiness. grump

Did y’all know that the NFL is Non Profit and doesn’t pay any taxes?? double grump

  18. Staff
    10:59 am on January 22nd, 2015

And did not both teams play with the same balls so they had an equal chance to benefit? The few times I watch it seems one of the officials takes the football in between plays and doesn’t let the players have it till the next play.

Maybe someone interested in the outcome of the game bribed all the officials.

    Bunch of hooey anyway…

hmmmm. I seem to bee in a grumpy mood this morning. Sorry to take it out on all the football lovers.

Buddy, The Plunderers are our nickname because of Professor Queen B’s amazing literary knowledge. She is a PHD in something like English Literature. Anyway she is retired from teaching, except us, and she explained that an alternate, or perhaps correct, meaning of plunder is to keep on working toward a goal through all problems and with all effort. So we Plunder On.

IF IF IF the Patriots cheated, yes they should be banned. But it has to be proven. The prior video tape cheating WAS proven.
And an under inflated ball is an advantage to the offense – if said ball can be put into play when the team is throwing and catching it, it gives better grip potential.

Buddy – continuing prayers for your Melanie. And we just want to go on record as saying your whole family has such positive outlook and attitude, no matter what. You are inspiring.

Mom taught me to get in the back of our truck and on the scales at the vets office that way. In the beginning, I refused to get on the scales at the vets office (don’t ask) so mom tried the walking and running me up on them, and it only took a few times of that before I agreed to forget I didn’t want to get up on the scales.

I’ll be doing all the training myself. The professional orgs have their own dogs and use those and don’t train one you bring in. Which, I totally understand. Anyway, we’ll have lots of time to work on it. If it doesn’t work out (either because pup doesn’t wanna, or I’m a rotten trainer), it’s all right, I’ll have had the experience and I can go back to school. Regardless, new pup will always have a home here, because that’s just how we roll. Thanks Staff for explaining the plundering, that’s definitely something I can get behind! SiberH: Enjoy the Arctic weather but don’t get in any trouble while your mum is hibernating.
I had planned on enjoying the Arctic weather this winter by cross country skiing or snow bike riding. The skis are still somewhere in the garage gathering dust and I would have to shovel a path to get to the bike. Ain’t gonna happen.

I ran out of books to read while I was mid-route on the bus. I picked up 3 books from the free bookshelf in Dawson Creek. Two romances published about 40 years ago and one that is a science fiction romance that had a picture of an incredibly well built man on the front. Heh! Did I mention that I am on d r u g s?

I really like Staff’s explanation of “plunderer.” The word is from the German and it means baggage (or junk). I always told my students to plunder their minds (go through the baggage there) to find answers and solutions. In other words, they had the ability to use their minds to solve problems. At some point Spence asked what we would do when computers/technology took over the world and I answered that we should just plunder on. Thereafter he started to call us the Plunderers.

Don’t you love the expression, “until the cows come home”! I used to know its origin. I’ll have to check.

Been a couple of minutes since we said anything. Oops, half of the HOH were naughty girls this a.m. Blondie excavated under the fence with a bit of help by LLtheL. Mom had no clue. Darling Darah tattled on us, honked and honked at the fence till mom came out to see Darah staring down the driveway. I (Pookey) gave mom a clue but she is a dense 2 legger. She found the hole blondie made with LL’s help and they were OFF!. Mom jumped in the car and did the neighborhood, the 63 acres and quarry and the big road twice. Talked to several folks but no one had seen our miscreants. Just as mom was about to give up and come home to make “Lost Dog” flyers, she decided to look at the big road one more time. Blondie crossed the street in front of her. Yowser! No LLtheL so she headed home but in the rear view saw a black shadow with a curled tail. Voila! Herd intact. and considering fence/perimeter options.

Revving up the Bulldozer here. We have exposed a scandal of gigantic proportions here in our part of the state. Seriously – not kidding. Thousands of people are affected, and don’t even know it yet.
We are contacting an investigative reporter we know – other people are contacting lawyers and administrators.
It is a very long story, but the short end of it is that in recent health care coverage, one agency omitted a VERY important fact – that if you had their coverage, you could have your Baystate doctor and you could go to the (only) local hospital. However – you were NOT covered for the doctors IN that hospital. And if you had the coverage for the doctors in the hospital, you could no longer see your Baystate doctor. Why is this important – because in this town alone, Baystate doctors have 8000 patients. And not one of us can go to the only local hospital and be cared for by a doctor.
    And no one knew this.

    Until the Bulldozer started up.

Staff!…I wonder if Staffie is still Grumpy…sniff!…How would she feel if she was always grumpy most of the time, like me?…gah!…Could she live with herself? Probably, because her grumpiness is not truly deep grumpiness. She has things, like hobbies and friends and even Mr.FireSlippers to cheer her up on grumpy days….grunt!…I venture to say that she is quite happy tonight doing something she likes…heh!

Go Pink Bulldozer! Sounds like you have the routine down about calling out just the right kind of troops. The agency that let this happen ……is it an HMO? When you sign on with most HMO’s you KNOW up front you must use their Dr.’s….key words UP FRONT. I will be waiting to hear the outcome.

ML!…That is a hefty decision to make…snort!…Why not just down-size to a smaller house or even a townhome or condo…sniff!…Why do live in a senior living facility when you still have your good health? You do still have your good health, right?…grunt!

Rio, I cheered up! I went over to the fabric store where I work and helped out. Then just before I had to leave another teacher came in and had to teach 3 eight year olds how to sew pajama pants. Better her than me! I was really happy to leave! Although I did help her getting all the bobbins filled and the machines threaded up.

Tomorrow pizza with the Turtleman and his wife and my Jim. And cards I bet.

Rio, Rio Jr’s name was first on the list so I don’t know why you keep asking if he is funded. Was it an incorrect list?

I think I will have another piece of candy.

Mr.Fireslippers is taking the little (but growing bigger every day) kittens a fleece blankie. He thinks that a nice flannel quilt is not warm enough for the little rascals. They already got out of their room once tonight. That Henry is getting big and strong.

ML, We are curious too. Just like Rio TEP. It doesn’t hurt to keep your options open though. Not all the people in those facilities are really old. (Well since I am 66 I think that is not too really old)

Woo Hoo: now they are saying that 14″ are to fall in the next 24 hours! Not snowing at the moment …

ML: look at different senior places. There are not only good ones out there but cool ones also. Most larger cities have senior living condos and apartments that aren’t for “old” people. You could probably even be a complementary guest for a day or two to check things out. Of all the places my parents were at, only one had great food, two places had inedible food and two had adequate meals. I always thought that was odd given how important food and meal times are and given how much the residents were paying.

ML, We ditto what others have said about a senior living facility. Around here, we have “55 and better” communities. You buy a house, and they take care of grounds, lawn, snow removal, etc. they sometimes have social halls, dining rooms, walking trails, golf courses, etc, but NO KIDS. Maybe you can find something like that instead?

Hi there terrific website! Does running a blog similar to this
take a lot of work? I’ve virtually no understanding of coding but I
had been hoping to start my own blog soon. Anyhow,
if you have any recommendations or techniques for
new blog owners please share. I understand this is off subject however I simply
    had to ask. Appreciate it!
