The man walking the tightrope at Niagara Falls is doing it once a day now and so far, no splat. I haven’t been able to find out what is below where he is walking. My best guess is that the area is cleared before he walks.

Good morning all. Just wanted to put a plug in for NEWFS!
Already getting very hot and now humid. (using the sarcasm font) Thanks to those in the west of us that sent this along.
Everything is DRY DRY DRY. Even though I am using the soaker hose NOW my spinach (3 inches high) are going to seed. Carpola. The lettuce is finally coming up.
Sigh, at least I got the seeds to grow. That’s better than last year.
I’m thinking of just letting the spinach go to seed. Keep things wet and then maybe I’ll have a fall crop.

We here in the area really are concerned about is below this guy. I go to Niagara Falls frequently, like when company comes and they always want to see the Falls. Now I have to be careful some person doesn’t come crashing down on us as we’re walking around.

Nik Wallenda was the guy who walked across the Falls last month. He was forced to wear a tether because it was being televised. The one doing it now is doing one walk a day between the Skylon Tower and the Hilton Hotel for the whole summer. That’s why we here have been so concerned about what was below him. It looks like people and cars.

I talked with my brother today. He has a job and then he’s been training to be the relief Captain for a 128 foot schooner. All wind, no motor. He’s taking out people for a six night stay for his vacation from his other job.

I would love to be on that big schooner. We sail out to the breakwall and have a clambake. Sometimes we have lobster in the boathouse. This picture of the boathouse was taken during a regatta which is why people were wearing whites.

I don’t know if this happens to anyone else. Sometimes, even when a comment is not being moderated, it does not show up for me for some hours. So you guys will be answering a comment by someone that hasn’t shown up on my computer.
Today it was Bella. Her comment didn’t show up until just a while ago. weird . .
Anyhoo, Bella . . the pranksters depend. Mac has a wicked sense of humor if you can wake him up. He loves to sit in front of the fan and bark into it. He can hear the difference in the tone of his bark. He’ll bark, wag his tail, bark, wag his tail and then look at you as if to say, “Is this totally cool, or what?”
Right now the game is to run as fast as possible from the stairs to the play yard into the pool and retrieve what we’ve thrown in. Of course, it has to be the green nubbly ball or the orange goose. Then take it into the house and hide it. Our Pack is not into fetch. Grace, Rose, Katie and Mac participate in that!

We agree about the deer chasing, that sounds more like a Scottish Deer Hound than a Newfie. The ones I know would never “bring down a deer”. Not fast enough, and in addition, no desire to do so..
Melanie, Your problem with the spinach is more heat than water. It can be planted as soon as the ground thaws. Cold and even snow is fine, but it will “bolt” or go to seed as soon as it gets hot. You are right about a fall crop. I usually plant some later in the season, and it will last until winter. If you want a more heat tolerant green, try Swiss Chard. Tastes a lot like spinach when cooked, but will not go to seed, so it lasts all growing season.

We picked our first tomato of the season today. It was from the Box Car Willie plant. Will report tomorrow on taste and quality.
At the family reunion Barb’s sister in law was telling a funny story about how she and Barb’s brother were at a farmer’s market and Dave overheard someone asking what kind of tomotoes were being offered for sale. Dave turned to Kay in all seriousness and said “WHO would ask what kind of tomotoes they are”? She said, “well Dave, your sister for one”. He thought the lady was nuts. And he is a big foodie!

The door bell is now in place. It has two ringers. One is now upstairs in Dan’s bedroom. He may ring it ONLY when there is an emergency. It has the 8 notes to it. The other ringer is now on a lanyard (thank dog for my Drumel) and he’s to wear it outside. If calling doesn’t get us he’s to ring it. It rings once. Nothing rings twice.
He is happy. He feels safer. He really doesn’t believe that I hear EVERYTHING in his room because he can’t hear me.

Sprinklers!…Last week her brother was here all week fixing things…heh!…Well, he thought he had fixed all the leaking sprinkler heads and valves, but apparently he missed something….grunt!…The Water Dept. paid her mother a visit this afternoon telling her she had used 68,000 gallons(!) of water and to not have a heart attack when she gets her bill…wheeze!gasp!…Someone is not very happy at all about this. So the water to the sprinklers has been turned off (again)…huffle!puffle!…What a pain in their asses that old sprinkler system is…sniff!

Hey everyone. We wanted you all to know that Mama is at the show site and their booth is all set up for the billions and billions of shoppers who will be showing up tomorrow.
We are also now being allowed to tell you all a little secret. Mama had been pretty sickly for the past week or so. She was taking medicine, but not feeling too much better. Then last night, about an hour after a certain prayer – her fever suddenly broke. She was awfully sick, but then this morning she is doing worlds better. She was even able to eat dinner tonight.
She thinks that PlunderPrayers are amazing!

Mom and dad are down in southern California. They are attending her nieces wedding. Her brother died of pancreatic cancer at age 47. Mom found out that the processional song will be Butterfly Kisses’ in honor of Sara’s dad, and then she will be releasing butterflies.

So guess what happened today? We were going home and got as far as Monticello when I got a phone call. My sister in laws friend was looking to sell his 2005 Town and Country van. Yes it has 220,000 in highway miles on it but everything works and it has 600.00 worth of new tires and he only wanted 1000. for it. When we went to the DMV they said it was not enough money and we were trying to cheat the tax man. So we had to put down every ding and scratch on it to make them say it was OK. Heh heh heh.
So now we have 2 vans.
And I had to drive home instead of nap.
Life is so hard!
Alice was so happy to see us that she did roll-overs by the door. Abbie was more restrained. But she howled whenever we went out the door to unpack the car.

Rio, yes. When I reread it, I realized that it was a little confusing. Mom’s brother’s name was Mike, and Sara is his daughter. Mike was civil engineer and was in the process of building his dream house. (8,000 sq ft). Mom does not like to visit the house because her sister in law has a dead beat boyfriend who has an annoying habit of having our family move from whatever chair they happen to be sitting in because it is “his” chair. This is a guy who has nothing, including a job, and yet mom overheard him complaining because the house doesn’t have a built in swimming pool.

Well Rio, Our 14 year old rust-bucket van has no working dash instruments so you can’t tell how fast you are going or if you need to put on gas, or what distance you have traveled. It has been at 226,000 miles for nearly a year now. Also in the last month it has started to hiccup if you run the air conditioner or wait at a light. $500 fixed it for only 2 days.
It has been a great van, but I can tell its time is near. I am not going to attempt to get it under the quilt.
The 1000.00 van is to buy us time to shop for a ‘real’ new car.
