Smart dog, stupid human for leaving the money in the car and apparently forgetting about it.

    Good morning all.

Gooood morning, everyone! B: We agree about the human. Never leave any life form (except maybe fungus) alone in a vehicle! Rio: Noticed you were a bit miffed last night because some of us pooped out early. Would you rather we reversed our read time and computer time so that we can be here from 9- 10?

(Especially for Dima) And for anyont else under the quilt tooday, have a theraputic Thursday 🙂

Morning everybuddy! My four-legged mom let me log in as a treat since Biddie moved out yesterday and now I only have the old ladies to play with.

There is some serious pee mail at the Bark Park.

Good Morning! Dima went to work with Mom this morning, so it is just Kat and me here today, unless you count T.C., but she is in the house.
Mom asked me to tell youse that she and Pop will be in Seattle on Feb 25th, from 10:38 am to 12:55 pm.

So far that is OH, Staff and HOH with overlapping times on the 25th. Mom just wonders why she gets held hostage for so long 🙁 Oops, maybe OH and Staff don’t quite o’lap, BUT mom is there for the duration…with a diabetic man no less.

Hi Annie! I have not been to a dog park in forever. Lucky you.
HOH, Why are they keeping you in Seattle so long?
Is there a list of those going to Alaska?

  7. BooBear
    9:41 am on October 3rd, 2013

Mom and Dad have a layover in Seattle too, but she is at work and the info is at home. She doesn’t think it is as long as HOH’s Mom and Dad, though. She thinks they get to Anchorage about the same time as OH’s ‘rents.

    I think the list is:
    Mom and Dad
    OH’s ‘rents
    HOH’s folks
    Staff and Mr. Staff
    Mollypop’s Mom
    Barb (without Maggie)

Oh wait…the saga continues. Updated itinerary arrived via email. Chattanooga to Charlotte to Seattle..oops 5 min. before on a flight Charlotte to Newark ??? Both sit in Seattle HOURS one leaves at 11p the other at 12a. What are they trying to do? We are on hold again! More news as it becomes available

Think Staff noted all going earlier but not sure: BooBear’s folks, Barb (sans Maggie), MPM/LuLu’s mom, Staff & Mr., OH’s ‘rents and HOH peeps.

  9. Tupper's Mama
    9:43 am on October 3rd, 2013

Seriously – how many people do they have flying into Anchorage around the sane time on the same date? Would you not think they might all end up on the same plane out of SeaTac?

(I shoulda been a travel agent!)

HOH – tell your Mom to embrace her inner Pink Bulldozer, contact her travel agent and tell the agent the acceptable parameters of the layover, and the preferred departure time from SeaTac. Have the info ready from Staff’s flight, and tell the agent that THAT is the flight you prefer.
Chances are (with a little firm teacher style persuasion) you will get your request. And do not be afraid to pull the diabetes/disability card. It is not an excuse – it is a valid concern!

Hounds: Maybe we can figure out Some Way to Rescue youse. That is just tooooo looonnng to wait in the airport!

Silly Sundance. All’s well that ends with the 5 C-Notes back in paw.

T&G’s Mama: Would love to “put on my big girl panties” for this but the Daddy Dawg used on of those on line travel places and used his membership 🙁 Mom, on the other paw always uses a local travel agent. Can even get good rates almost instantly.

Hounds: A new iPAW Mini will Replace the Nexus 10 that was defective and which has been Returned to Amazon. We must wait for the credit to show up on Nana’s account before the replacement can be shipped in 5-10 days, which I happen to know is more than 2. Sigh. (this all seems to part of the series of computer glitches that are happening on the blog.)
There MUST BE some way for the Travel Agent (online or not) to be able to smooth out the wrinkles in your trip scheduling. The present itinerary is quite unacceptable in IMHO.

Dawson: We found the missing Paw Print stamp!

Rainy and gloomy here today. Barb was going to paint the patio today, but that is now on the back burner. Need to have dry conditions for 24 hours after concrete paint is applied.

Baye is going to the home coming f.b. game tomorrow night and then has a date (her first) with another Freshman for the dance Saturday. Kelly told her she could invite some friends over for pictures before the dance, along with their parents. She thought she would serve some refreshments-some appies and drinks. Baye just told her there would probably be about 40-50 people coming over! 15 girls, some w/dates and their parents. I think Kelly was thinking more like a doz. people!

I can still say, Good Morning!

I have been to the acupuncturist this morning. Hopefully, the remains of the drugs the docs used will now leave me alone.

I have asked for a passport for Christmas! Don’t know when I’ll use it.

    Be Prepared to Plunder On.

Breaking news. The more things change, the more they stay the same. At least the double booking Charlotte to Seattle and Charlotte to Newark to Seattle is gone. All this because the original 1:30 out of Sea-Tac is unavailable so now (drumroll, please) Chattanooga to Charlotte to Seattle arriving @ noon PST. Depart Sea-Tac 9:10, Arrive Anchorage 11:55 AST. Wow, we’ll be traveling from 7 a.m. till 4 a.m. our time. Sounds like fun.

Melanie: Nana just got her Passport renewed in September (the previous one had expired and was well over 15 years old.)
She doesn’t know when she will use hers either…But…Just in case.

    Barb&Magpie: Gulp. That’s a Bunch!!!

    Hi Annie!

  27. Barb & Maggie
    12:05 pm on October 3rd, 2013

Baye’s date wanted to know what color her dress is, so his mom can get him a tie that matches. He is in honors classes and is “from the south, so he has manners”. Three boys asked her to the dance – looks like she made a good choice.

Barb is going to make cowboy caviar for the get-together, so that will help a little with the food prep.

  28. Herd of Hounds
    12:22 pm on October 3rd, 2013

B&M: Being southern ourselves, howza ’bout Velveeta cheese melted w/ a can of mild tomatoes & chilis. 5 min. prep, easy as pie.

    Did someone say pie?

  29. Meashka
    12:39 pm on October 3rd, 2013

Barb and Maggie, I don’t understand how being from the South makes one have manners. My Pop is from here, and he is the most gentlemanly man I know.

  30. Barb & Maggie
    12:49 pm on October 3rd, 2013

Meashka, Don’t take offense, the quote was from a 14 year old, after all. However, some southern kids still attend Cotillion classes, where they learn dances, manners and etiquette.

  31. Melanie
    12:52 pm on October 3rd, 2013

Southern Gentleman . , the best on I know is Master Redbone Hound!

BearSpiritDog, my passport was about as old as your mom’s.

That man had to work for his money. Ugh.

Pretty sure that the flight Staff is on has been sold out. It has disappeared from the choices on the Alaska Air website.

  34. dawson

The man from the far North who lives in this house has good intentions but bad manners.

I believe the Giant has impeccable manners and he is a Northern gentleman.

    One never knows.

  35. Meashka
    1:00 pm on October 3rd, 2013

Beautifuil pictures, Melanie. No trees are turning here, but a cold front is due tomorrow. WOO HOO

Melanie-Photographer Extraordinare. (both are beautiful, but especially love the second shot)
I think the sun may be making an appearance! The Seattle area reported having the wettest September on record this year.

Melanie, such lovely pictures, and beautiful colors. Trees here in New York are slowly starting to turn. I took the train into my busy place yesterday. The sun on the Hudson was so beautiful!

Mr. Redbone Hound and Siber-H have wonderful manners. When I met Wookie and Teddy’s pop, I told him I always referred to Wookie as “a gentleman and a scholar.”

And yes, the Giant does have impeccable manners.

Hey, has anybody noticed all the commercials on tv for Alaska tourism? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

    2:23 pm on October 3rd, 2013

Gah. One would think making reservations over 6 months in advance would guarantee youse a worry free flight schedule. No one wants a repeat of the flight from hell that Rose & the Prof experienced last time.
HOH: Paws crossed the matter is resolved in your favor. If not… do not despair…we will definitely come up with a plan.

  46. Rose
    2:30 pm on October 3rd, 2013

HRH, B: When the Prof first started teaching at Mercy College, he was given the Freshman Seminar writing class. The Hudson River School was one of the topics.

Masquers, At least our flight from hell was a little better to deal with than some of the flight patterns I have been reading. Our original flight plan was NY-Chicago-Seattle-Anchorage.

I just hope none of youse travelling has to be grounded and spend a night in the Ashtray Motel.

BTW, Masquers, my dear friend, you have lovely manners!

    Hello All,

I just thought I’d post an update on the snowhook team’s progress. Even though it’s early in the season yet the team is working together as if its January. They are also already running up tp 30 mile runs a day and by the end of October we expect to have about 800 four wheeler miles on them. Which is to say they’ve pulled a four wheeler that far. Knock on wood but they look good!

This is a direct reflection of your support of the team. Thank you!

  51. Siber-H

  53. Melanie
    3:12 pm on October 3rd, 2013

AJ, that is wonderful news. Hurrah for the whole Snowhook team!

Had an interesting conversation with the receptionist at the liver doc’s office. I called in to see if there were any results yet.

Office: We usually don’t get the results for 5 to 7 days.
Me: Oh, okay. That’s not what the procedure doc told me.
    Office: What did he say?
Me: That I would get my results within 3 to 5 days.
    Office: (Reasons .. reasons . . reasons . .)
Me: Okay. I just don’t want to wait.
Office: Why did you have the procedure?
Me: To see if I have cancer.
Office: OH MY DOG (but she didn’t say DOG) I am so sorry. That’s different. Let me get you on the computer. Oh, the computer is slow. I am so sorry . .
Me: I’m used to computers being slow.
Office: But you need to have this information as soon as possible. Okay, here we go . .
(Takes my info, she can’t see my medical record)
Office: I am going to write the doctor’s nurse. (typing is heard) If the info is here it will go to the doctor as soon as possible. I want you to check back tomorrow if you don’t hear today. They will at least know what is going on. I am so sorry . . Yadda, yadda
    Me: Thanks.

HOH: (Wine) and whining is good. Flying east to go west is like flying south to go north. Our rescue offer stands no matter what.
Thanks, AJ, this is great news!
I have a feeling there is a good reason so many Plunderers are making the long trek North to Alaska this year ^..^

  56. BearSpiritDog

A.J., Thanks so much for the update. I will be rooting my loudest for Snowhook, right here in front of my big screen t.v.

btw, i am waiting to hear what your doc tells you.

  58. Rose

    AJ: Yay!

I was to get my furniture and stuff delivered to my new house tomorrow. I was called 30 minutes ago and they will be able to deliver it within the hour. Frantically moving stuff to clear areas. Yeep!

Those of you who renewed expired passports…what is the process? Do you start all over with an original birth certificate? Mine is somewhere in a box. My passport expired 6 months ago. I am hoping to just be able to show them my expired passport and take it from there–new photo needed, of course.

  60. Rose
    3:35 pm on October 3rd, 2013

CHobbit: If your expired passport is less than 15 years old you will not have to start from scratch. Passports expire after 5 years but here is an additional 10 year grace period to renew.

Lovely pictures Melanie. We went back and enlarged them and they did look even better.

We have not ordered tickets yet, have to wait a bit to see if the stock market comes back. Losses in the last two week, and this week with all the yahoos in Washington, it is down even more.

There was just a shooting in D.C. A women rammed the White House gate, then backed up and hit a surrounding police car, before trying to get away. Then gunfire was exchanged and she was shot and killed. There was a kid in the car too. Dog, I hope it wasn’t an innocent person who had an accident and then panicked!

Question for Dawson. You said the man of the house is from the far north. Did you mean Michigan? Is that why he is a fan of the Detroit sports teams? Or did you mean far north Canada?

  69. dawson
    4:57 pm on October 3rd, 2013

Barb&Maggie: This man is NO fan of Detroit! He hates Detroit. Detroit is the traditional rival of the Chicago Blackhawks. That’s his team.

  72. Barb & Maggie

Dawson, We knew we were not losing it. Last night you were “gloating” that Detroit was ahead of Buffalo 2-0, then you said the Detroit Tigers were first in their division, then you said Go Detroit. That is why we assumed you were Detroit fans!

You are welcome, Mr. Redbone Hound.

I talked to the doc’s nurse. I will not hear anything until Monday or Tuesday. Zoë is convinced they have lost all the samples. sigh

I’m back! Mom and I arrived home an hour ago. She is worried that i didn’t eat much of my dinner, but what she does not know is that the people at the Special Place fed me all day long. The food was so darn good down there that i even chewed up the bowl, and then i chewed up my kennel card! I have never done anything like that in my life. It is just that those people coddle me so much, I get rather excited.
When mom and i got home, there was a package here, all the way from Canada, and Surprise! It was not from anyone on this here blog!

Why don’t I read my name in the list of Gentlemen on this blog? Dima Dima Dima! I am nothing, if not a Gentleman.

Will be released from travel h e l l at 9:10 p.m so guess I will be the airport concierge for any Plunderers passing that way on the 25th of Groundhog month. We’ll stay in touch as we get closer. Rio: Will you be the flight tracker again this year?

Oh, Melanie. I know how hard it is to wait. Thinking of you. And Zoe and the Pack.

Sea-Tac is one honking big airport. The parental units have been through it. There are many shops and restaurants and even a quiet area. There will be Plunderer reunions in February. Yay!

I will try and stay up late this weekend so I can blog with you! However, when I get up in the morning, I do read the blog again. Sometimes you make me lol!

Rio, the whole manners discussion started because Barb’s 14 year old granddaughter said her date for the home coming (her first) is from the south so he has manners. Barb thought that was a funny comment so we posted it. Seems to have ruffled some northern feathers or fur.

HOH: keep checking flights closer to date of departure. Airlines always hold back seats and release them late. Maybe you can do some changes then.

Movers left, now my work begins

I hadn’t eaten since 9am so went to Applebee’s near my house. First time at an Applebee’s. Anchorage is full of fiesta.

Melanie: so hard to wait. We will be holding our breath (not really but you get the idea)

Riö, I am happy for your friend. Excellent news.

I left a post on Facebookie asking AJ if the team had signed up for the Knik.

The Pack had a great day. Their friend, Sam, came to see them, and they played run the fence line. Lots of barking, and running, and barking. When Sam left it was time for a dip in the pool. Naps were big,and so was keeping an eye on Zoë.

It is that time again. Have fun night owls!
