Good morning, Kat and everyone! Still keeping Rebecca in our pawrayers. WSe wil not, Not, NOT let mom stay up so late tonight. Our job is to hold her down and protect her from all the firework boomers that idiots here insist on firing.
Have a nice New Year’s Eve. Get that Hoppin’ John goling and as the hispanic world says: Prospero Ano Nuevo. (If you cannot figure that out, SDD our mom and she will ask Wose.)

I found this quotation attributed to W.C. Fields on workinghumor.com:

“Campaign resolutions are nothing more than overgrown New Year’s resolutions: they are thrown together hastily at the last minute, with never a thought as to how they may be gracefully broken.”

I found another one by Fields (and it’s probably the one Spence is referring to):

“I never worry about being driven to drink; I just worry about being driven home.”

I also found one by Mark Twain: “Sometimes too much to drink is barely enough.” (Brainyquote.com)

Rose: Did you find anything else?

Happy New Year’s Eve! Happy New Year’s to LizF and Ruby!

Thanks Spence and BStover: I resolve not to make any New Year’s resolutions…ever.

Last Checkpoint Announcement of the Year!

Last night Wolfie made a pledge to donate the last $20. needed to fully fund the Ruby checkpoint for LizF, Ruby and Cricket! Thanks Wolfie, you are wonderful!

With that donation all 6 of the checkpoints that had been opened for donations were fully funded! Congratulations to all us Plunderers for this achievement. We are amazing. Thank you all!

Since Wolfie donated the whole $20 to fully fund the checkpoint, the $20 will be matched and be available to start the next checkpoint opened. Otherwise the matching funds have been used up. However…Checkpoint Central is closing for the holiday and will be opened again on January 2nd. You can still donate and the emails will be answered in the order received…after the holiday. snowhookcheckpoints@gmail.com

We are waiting to hear from Snowbella or AJ this morning that all is well.

Good morning all and Happy New Year’s Eve. Hope all is well with Rebecca this morning.

Working for a couple of hours and then heading home. Spending a quiet evening at home. Well, it will be quiet unless I end up puppy sitting for Lucas.

Hope and pray that there are no major acts of violence this evening. This thought has nothing to do with Lucas.

Thank you Rose. I missed that article while reading the NYTimes.

I did read a review of a new book on the history of Prohibition by Lisa McGirr titled, The War on Prohibition. In an interview she said,

“I would raise a toast to the new mixed world of night life leisure that Prohibition spawned. Before that, public drinking was associated with the boisterous working-class male world of the saloon. Women who entered risked identification as prostitutes. Prohibition’s new semi-secretive world of leisure helped bring wider groups of women into these spaces, where they have remained ever since.”

    That’s an interesting concept.

Barb is making me laugh also.

Here’s a quick update from the the Quilt. My Lady kind of remembers two pugs, a couple of Thieves and Luna blurring her to the Quilt where I was waiting to be her pillow. The Giant arrived home late last night.

We have determined she has a mild concussion. She slipped on the ice and hit her head on the second to last step of our front porch. Luckily, she had a braid in her hair and we believe that softened the blow. Her head hurts, her neck is sore, and she is queasy and a bit dizzy, but not as bad as yesterday. She will rest today. I will serve as her pillow.

We want to thank you for your prayers. We will check in later. This has been Tenzing reporting from under my Lady’s head.

    4:34 pm on December 31st, 2015

Tenzing: Thank you for the update on our beloved Pixie. Grizz and I have been worrit all morning. The Pixie couldn’t have a better pillow to rest her head.

  26. Tenzing
    4:41 pm on December 31st, 2015

Wose: I make a great pillow, but she is tossing and turning. Her head and neck hurt and she can’t get comfortable. It’s interfering with my strict napping schedule.

  27. Rose-the small and meek
    4:45 pm on December 31st, 2015

Grizz and I are back from my follow-up appointment with the neurologist. Final word on my neuropsychological exam is that what I am experiencing is in no way related to dementia. The results are in keeping with a person of my age and education. My executive motor skills have been impaired, in all probability by the lightning bolt treatments. The neurologist does not believe that my condition will become worse. So,in a nutshell, if any of you have seen the film “Memento” I will pretty much have to do what the central character of the film does to help with my memory.

Wose – wow. But good to hear that it is not dementia related or progressive.

Tenzing – thanks for the update. Tell the Pixie to use cold compresses as opposed to hot for her sore head and neck.

    4:54 pm on December 31st, 2015

Tenzing: I know of what your Lady speaks of. I was hit by a car when I was 13, and had among other things, a concussion. The tossing and turning will lessen with time, and your strict napping schedule will return shortly. Until then, I know the power of your pillow skills are extraordinary, and will soon restore your Lady to good health.

MP&LLMom, Sounds like fun, and you don’t even have to drive. Why not pop in for an hour?

Me? I am staying home with Maggie, Lucy, and LUCAS! Josh did bring his crate over, so I can put him in it if he gets too rowdy. I am definitely too old to tolerate small children and puppies for long periods of time.

B.M,&L: We had Yellow Tail sangria. We had our favorite salad from our favorite pizzeria…lettuce, avocado, red cabbage, bacon, and grilled chicken. To that we add Craisins, sunflower seeds, and sliced honey roasted almonds. Grizz tops his off with the homemade bleu cheese dressing that the pizzeria makes, and I use a lemon poppy seed dressing. Since Grizz and I do not drink as a habit, any liquor we consume hits us very hard. Grizz has fallen asleep on the couch next to me.

We are making black eyed peas at this house also. We will eat them with corn bread tonight and with leftover corn bread tomorrow. T remember my mother talking about black eyed peas and sometimes we even had some.

Dawson I am using Emeril’s recipe. It has way too much chicken stock in it. I don’t know if it is supposed to be black eyed pea soup or not but….grump. I think I will fish it out with a slotted spoon.

    It is delish though.

By the way I spiced it up with a condiment I brought from 4425 and had not yet opened. It was in Mom’s spice cupboard up on top with a note on it that says “Jeni’s! Do not throw out”. Instructions to the Turtleman I expect. It is labeled Golden Dragon Hot and Spicy Szechuan Sauce. Does that bring back any memories?

Poor Rebecca, She should probably not be doing much computer stuff, or smart phone stuff with a mild concussion. I hope she feels better soon.

I will go to bed as usual tonight but drink 2 or 3 glasses of water first so I will wake up and hopefully see Aurora Borealis. Last night around 11:30 I woke and saw some. Earlier I was thinking I’d make a fire outside in the fire pit but that was fanciful thinking. It is cold out there and warm in here. Case closed.
