New Guinea Singing Dog Sighting?

“Or is this photo a fake,” Spence says. “As an expert in the article suggests.”

“My money’s on fake,” Admin says.

“How much?”

“The price of the new Jamey Johnson album – the one with all the Hank Cochran songs.”

“Do you think the singing dog can sing country?”

“You taking the bet or not?”

Good morning, Chet, Admin, and Spence. Are we first ? Cool article on the rare singing dog. It is from National Geographic, so our money is on real, not fake.
Cold morning here with a heavy frost. brrrr we are loving it!
Macy’s goats were great. Watched that this morning, with mocha in hand. Almost spilled the mocha.
C.Hobbit? How do you get to work if the roads are not plowed? What are you driving… as snowmobile?

Mom and Pop and Sasha went outside at 1:30 this morning to watch the Geminids meteor shower. Did any of youse get to see them? Sasha said it was cool. But we were not permitted out at that hour. 🙁
Pop had to get up for work an hour later !

Good Morning all, and hello OleyHowlers.

I hope your Pop gets to have a dog nap today.

The expert said that the dog might be a fake because the coat was the wrong color. Hmmm . . Small genetic pool, lighting on dog, kind of camera, all of those can contribute to a “change” in the coat color.

Going downstairs in a minute and I’ll be back on that carpola keyboard . . 🙁

    Greetings Oley Howlers and Melanie!

Liking that it is starting to get cold here in New York….Just waiting on some snow.

Macy, those goats were pretty cute!

Earthquake! Six pointer off the coast of California
in the early am hours. Located around Catalina

    Hallo and good morning!

Mom has a fantastic fund rasping idea for Snowhook! A few days ago, mom hosted a gold buying party at her work. Fellow employees brought in jewelry odds and ends, earrings that we’re mateless, tangled chains, necklaces that lost their clasps, that sort of thing. At the end of the day, coworkers walked away with checks totaling $2100 and mom walked away with checks totaling $306. She received 10% plus whatever her own stuff brought in.

So what do youse guys think about having a Gold Mining benefit party for Snowhook? My idea is that Plunderers can send in their gold odds and ends ( not the good stuff, because of those Goats), and let mom know what percentage they want to donate to Snowhook. That information will remain a secret. The 10% commission will be sent to Snowhook, of course. We have a hungry Giant to feed and some booties to shake!

  16. Wolfie Wigglebutt
    10:01 am on December 14th, 2012

Dang that ipaw. I meant fund raising, not rasping. Harrumph.

The earthquake was about 300 miles away, so we did not feel it.

We think it is real and not a fake. Agree with Melanie, the lighting might make the dog’s coat look lighter than it really is. It does look like a Shibu Inu (sp?).

Forgot: Howlers–I just don’t like country music.

  21. OleyHowlers
    10:35 am on December 14th, 2012

heh heh We figured that was the case, Bee. We here do like Country…at least good old traditional Country, as opposed to the Top 10 Country you hear on Country radio nowadays. We especially like the Bluegrass type of Country. But the favorites here are Dwight Yoakum, Lyle Lovett, Dixie Chicks, Alison Kraus and Union Station.

Wolfie’s idea for fund raising is a good one, but we don’t think Mom owns even one piece of gold jewelry.

  22. Melanie

I’m chocolate covering some fruitcake in case the Turtleman comes over – he loves fruitcake.

  24. Siber-H
    10:50 am on December 14th, 2012

We love traditional country music. That is something else me and the Howlers have in common. The new Jamey Johnson album is getting great reviews. The radio in my truck is always on the country classics station. We agree, Howlers, most modern country music sucks.

Wolfie, we also think your fund raising idea is a good one, but mom doesn’t have any gold jewelry…just silver.

Macy, Got your news about Josh Hamilton. Since the Ranger fans think this is a good thing, I won’t feel sad.

My Two-legged says you are so thoughtful. She has also always said that a certain pug has a heart of gold.

Today is going to be a good day, I just know it. It started with a snuggle from my Two-legged. I’ve been missing my snuggles while she’s been traveling. The bearded one just doesn’t snuggle like her.

  28. Kat
    11:13 am on December 14th, 2012

Belly Starr, did you see that the Plunderers are naming a checkpoint in honor of the Smoochers??? How cool is that.

About snuggling…I think my mom should challenge your 2-legged mom to a snuggle contest. No way my mom gets beat at that!

  29. Melanie
    11:14 am on December 14th, 2012

Zoe says (what on earth? The keyboard is behaving?) that she will dig around in her jewelry box.

We are headed off at 1:30 to go do some talking with someone who isn’t me.

Now if you were looking for old denim? I’ve got plenty of that.

  30. Tupper and Gilly
    11:27 am on December 14th, 2012

We think the fund raising idea is a good one, but Mama says that Tupper’s collar is only gold COLORED, so that wouldn’t work. Now why would someone put genuine diamonds in a collar that was just gold colored? Seems pretty senseless to us.

Beyond that, gold is a scarce commodity around here. Mama says she has many Pearls of Wisdom – but those get ignored most of the time. And Dad comes up with some real gems sometimes – but those are hard to package up to send.

We will keep thinking. MEanwhile, Mama and Dad are off on the road, so they will check in later.

  31. Belle Starr
    11:27 am on December 14th, 2012

Kat: I know! My Two-legged arrived home late last night and twirled her way out of the car. I thought it was because she was so excited to see me. She and I have a routine when she gets home, but we didn’t do it. Well, I did my part, but she didn’t do her part. She claims she did a modified version that still counts. What did she do? She picked me up and said, “Smooch!” she explained the checkpoint and said I get to help pick out which checkpoint will be for the Smoochers.

About the great snuggling throw down of 2012, myTwo-legged says everyone would be a winner because we get snuggled and they get to snuggle. My Two-legged has the right combination of a great lap, belly rubbing, ear scritching and story telling.

Great fund raising idea, Wolfie. (btw: read your iPaw error correctly. heh.) Do we have any gold jewelery with missing pieces stashed away? I seem to remember an old Krugerrand coin, however I don’t think Mom wants to give that particular item up. We will go
on a searching expedition to check out other possibilities.
Also, family members may be able to help.

My Two-legged is working from home today, too. She has to head north again on Sunday night for a few days, so she said she is working from home today in her jammies.

Kat: Do you ever do the sneak attack for snuggling? For instance, on a day like today when my Two-legged is busy tip-tap-typing on her computer, I edge a little closer. My movement is so subtle, I don’t think she even noticies, and then, boom! my head is on her lap and my belly is getting rub. She never sees it coming.

OleyHowlers . . Hurrah for your mom! I guess which one will depend on 12/21/12.

I do NOT do the lift up smooching. Just doesn’t work here. Belle Star? Patsy does something to that effect but we call it the Patsy attack.

She decided you are going to pet her and the next thing you know, you are pinned down in a chair unable to move except to pet.

Hmm . . keyboard sounds funny, but it is writing correctly.

  39. OleyHowlers
    12:29 pm on December 14th, 2012

Belly, I do that one too!!! Sometimes, I sneak up and put my hands on the keyboard. That gets me cuddled for sure. But my very favorite one is the one I did yesterday morning, while my mom was fast asleep. I jumped up and stood on her back with all four legs. She just loves loves loves that!

My ears are so sensitive I have to wear the real 14ct gold earrings. So I have a lot of earrings and have been wondering what to do with them. I might have some other pieces also.

Siber-H and Howlers: I am with you on music preferences.

Here is part of my Christmas tree. In honor of my father’s passing I decided to have a star-filled tree. I already had a bit of a collection of stars but for the last month have been buying more while out and about.

We having been watching the news too. So sad, and so near the holidays seems to make it even worse. 20 yr old gunman is dead, 28 total dead at this time. We also can not understand why anyone would want to do something like this. They just said he focused attention on one classroom. Would stricter gun rules help? Don’t know if it would.

  60. OleyHowlers
    1:55 pm on December 14th, 2012

Maggie, Mom is having the same discussion with a friend of hers on FB. We here are not sure that gun laws are the answer either. She keeps thinking how the banning of drugs or prohibition of alcohol did not keep anyone who wanted a drink or a drug from getting it. It just gave the greedy evil people in our society another way to make money thru violent ways of obtaining and selling the substances.

We’ve enjoyed good conversation of a steady supply of slim jims. I will escort her home when she is ready. I have nothing but honorable intentions—as Whitey-Lance says, we have to answer to our Lady if our actions are other than that of honorable.

Barb picked up The Road to Grace by Richard Paul Evans at the library. It is the 3rd in the series that stated with The Walk. Has anyone read them? Bear, the first one starts in Seattle. This one ends in St. Louis, which is where Barb grew up.

    SIGH . .

    C. Hobbit, your stars are wonderful.

Today was very hard. Zoe did not make it to the counselor with me. Health issues. I asked Dr. Golinka and she said the problem might be dairy. (Seems to me I heard this from another doc, but this time it was heard.) after I got to talk for a solid hour (wonderful), I went and got Pediolite and Lactaide. If this doesn’t work it’s back to the doc.

Curfew? Me? No. I can be trusted to know when to come home. I do try to have Belle Starr home at a decent hour, but I can leave her in the capable paws of my mom if I need to leave late to accomodate YSAS’ schedule.

Bear, The Walk is probably going to be a 5 or 6 book series. The main character has several life changing events, and decides to walk from Seattle to Key West, FL, as part of his healing. The third book ends with St. Louis Mo, which is about half way. Seems like he writes one per year. They are good and quick to read.

I talked to OTAS tonight. It was good to hear his voice. Both he and GLAD are working everyday until the 21st. Got to make that mortgage! They are fine. Papi and the Kats are fine. He also doesn’t understand the mindset of someone who would kill children.

Last night we watched the 1952 film Les Misérables, commercial free (!), on Turner Classic Movies. Immediately following it the 1934 French version aired. It is well over 4 hours. Needless to say, we could not stay awake. However, we were able to order it from Netflix. Directed by Raymond Bernard, it is considered by many to be the best film adaption of Victor Hugo’s greatest work.
The movie musical with Hugh Jackman premieres on Christmas Day.

Melanie: Wonderful to hear YSAS is back, having fun, doing the work he loves best and hoping OTAS & GLAD are doing what they love too.

Bella – ice cream absolutely counts as supper. As long as there are some kind of “add-ins”, like caramel swirls or chocolate chips. If it is plain ice cream, its not nutricious enough to be dinner,

It took four hours for the usual 2 1/2 hour trip to Boston. No – Mama wasn’t driving – she was gnashing her teeth as they went from one traffic jam to the next. Creator, we come to thee this day with heavy hearts, yet thankful for one another. Although our hearts are heavy, we thank you for this day. The sun rose on a day of promise, but it sets on a night of tears. So many souls have started on their path to you, their time on this earth now over, but the effect if their lives on others will be felt forever.

Creator, we do not understand tragedies that occur against the innocent, yet we grieve their loss and ask for thy blessing of comfort to those impacted by heartbreaks across the world. It hurts. It is confusing. Creator, the little ones will be safe with you. They will know joy and peace and love. The ones who cared for the little ones will be safe with you. They will know wonder, harmony and contentment. They are all dancing on the path to you, and will know the glory of the next world.

Creator, there are those whose homes will have empty beds tonight because a life has been cut short. There are those who will long to wrap their arms around shoulders that are no longer there. Our hearts bend and distort for those who have broken hearts that may never be repaired. Tonight, we ask you to hold close the ones left here on earth whose hearts are broken. We who only know this world feel so much pain when the ones we love leave us behind. Although we know there will be a time of reunion, it is our human souls that feel the devastation of loss. We mourn the loss of bright little lights, of companions and soulmates. We too ache with pain for those we cannot help. Please, in your own way, comfort them. Heal them. Give them peace.

Creator, there are those in this life that can and may do others harm. We ask they receive the help and assistance needed to avoid horrific heartbreaks. We are humans with faults and flaws. We have not yet found the way to live peacefully with this world, or even with each other. We continue to ask for your teachings to show us the way to live on your path. Please help us to forgive. Creator, tonight we ask you to bless us with compassion. Let us learn to let go of anger over things that do not matter. Let us forget temper, and petty misunderstandings. Help us humans learn to live with respect for your world, for each other, for different ideas and beliefs. Help us to live in harmony.

Creator, there are those who we have chosen to be family that are hurting, too. Our chosen family is missing Elders who have passed this fall and their absence is felt even more in the holiday season. There is also loss of our four-legged family that is felt in our hearts every day. On this night of sadness and loss, we also think of the loved ones we have lost, and suffer that pain again. We ask you to place your peace in our hearts that we can get over our grief and know that all is as it has to be. Please comfort those who hurt and help us to care for each other. We thank thee for each other, and ask to please and keep us, help and heal us, calm and comfort us, and guide and direct us.

Creator, although our hearts are heavy, we thank you for this day. This year, we have had so many souls leave our lives to come to you. Their time on this earth now over, but the effect if their lives on us will be felt forever. We know they will be safe with you. They will know joy and peace and love. They are all dancing on the path to you, and will know the glory of the next world.

Creator, let there be peace tonight. Amen.

What you should know about the prayer is that it is part Golinka and part me. I received an email from Stinky Mama today saying she saw the post and was leaving the prayer to me or would help if I liked. I sent her what I drafted. In the mean time, she drafted her own prayer because she and Leonard needed to do it for themselves. She hadn’t seen the prayer I wrote before she wrote her prayer. She shared her prayer with me. As I read it, I was amazed that we not only used some of the same words and phrases, but the flow and order in which we wrote the different elements of our prayers was identical. I took her prayer and paragraph by paragraph wove it into my prayer.
