Good Sunday All! We love the picture of Spencer with Amalia and Leonard. All 3 of them just radiate happiness. Amalia is even more beautiful in person, if you can believe it. Her face has this lovely glow that lights up a room.

We worked very hard on the garden yesterday (well, they worked hard and we supervised). Now everything is back in control, and the paths between the beds have been stripped to dirt and mulched.
Last night, Meashka and Kat attended Pints for Pups! Dima had to stay home with Sasha. He says he enjoyed the rest. The Reds enjoyed themselves immensely, as they watched a continuous parade of doggies go by. They met tons of canines and were very sociable. But the most unexpected part of the evening was when a certain pug tapped Kat on the shoulder to say ‘howdy’. (Whispering) Does Rio’s friend know he left his yard? Would she mind, knowing how great the brews were at this event?

Good morning all.
Both pictures are great!
9:43 am on July 22nd, 2012
Good morning everyone.
The Three: You can see the joyfulness radiating out from Amalia and those two guys. There is only one man I know that is handsomer than those two guys and that is YSAS.
OleyHowlers: Kat and Rio together at a beer fest? Was anything left standing? (Or unpeed on?) Rio’s friend was distracted last night, thinking about a new project so I guess Rio saw his chance. Looks as if he is wearing his invisible body slimming wrap. Heh! Looking for chicks.

The pictures of happiness are terrific. Thanks, guys.
Warm thoughts to all for a good week.

When I see Kat all I can think about is those long long legs. Just amazing. Great pictures everyone. Love seeing Amalia and Leonard and the pointy one.
10:20 am on July 22nd, 2012
Good Morning Everyone!
That pug knows a good-looking girl when he sees one.
I hope the art show is going great for the Royals.
Macy made a funny comment last night about Rebecca not letting CHarris in the house. I’m still laughing.

Good Sunday morning from the Really Big Shew. It’s kind of a quiet start – Sunday mornings usually are. But another glorious, blue sky, soft breeze day on Cape Cod.
sigh of bliss
Wish we could live here.
Thanks for the visit and the front page Admin. we feel like celebrities.
(and Howler’s Mom….blush, blush, aw gee)
Live the picture of Kat the Red and the Wayward Pug. Sounds like the makings of a great country song. Or an epic poem. Anyone wanna take up the challenge?
“Oh Kat, lovely Kat with her glowing red hair
Put her best collar on and went to the fair…”
10:53 am on July 22nd, 2012
Brrr…that video made me cold! But T.C. and I are still giggling.
GILBERT !!!! Gilbert Bear is his name!!! Mommy won’t let the Howlers near him, but I, The Budster, managed to climb way up high and asked him. He knows his name like he knows the back of his hand, or the bottom of his foot, and it is Gilbert.

Only Siber H could think that that is heavenly weather.

Hi there, this is Mary reporting on an eventful week. My niece was married on Saturday. She walked down the aisle alone, to the song Butterfly Kisses, while boxes of monarch butterflies were released. Surely my brother was there in spirit. My nephew and his wife are expecting #3, which is a sore subject with me. My sister has been supporting them, and finally asked for $300 a month for rent, which they haven’t paid yet.
We buried my father in law on Thursday, and my husband officiated. He was amazing.
And then on Frday, our cat Riley crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I think he may have a stroke. He will be missed.
So it has been a week spent experiencing the circle of life, the richness of it all, the joys and the sorrows.
11:35 am on July 22nd, 2012
Godd Morning!
The lovely redhead Kat and my valentine Rio, together!
Kat should be on the cover of a magazine cover!
BelleStarr, seems like Masquers had a rough landing!
You’re the man, er Kat, Budster!
11:35 am on July 22nd, 2012
What a fabulous photo!
11:39 am on July 22nd, 2012
Oh, Mary and Wolfie. What a difficult week. I’m so sorry to hear about your brother, and Riley! Tell Riley to look for my Kat Kelly….he’s been there awhile, and can show him the ropes, and introduce him around. Kelly’s the one who is always sitting on God’s desk.
11:44 am on July 22nd, 2012
I remember those pictures when they happened. A few years ago in Seattle or Portland. I forget which. They had ice storms. They aren’t used to having lots of snow and ice. There were cars sliding down roads all over the place. It was an amazing sight.
Maybe Bear remembers which city it was?
11:45 am on July 22nd, 2012
Mary: Thank you for checking in with us. I have no doubt that Riley was welcomed across the Bridge by many loving paws. Comfort and peace to you.
SiberH: We refer to our property as the kennel. I would/will let CHobbit in the house so long as she wipes her paws. 🙂
I agree with the Howlers—Amalia is more beautiful in person. Plus, there is no resisting the smile and giggle. Leonard, the Storyteller not the dog, reminds me of AJ in that they both have a strong presence—they walk into a room and you know it. Spence and Admin look so much alike, I have a hard time telling them apart.
11:49 am on July 22nd, 2012
Wolfie,
We are glad you checked in. Life seems to be piling on the challenges for you this last week. I hope you have some calmer times soon.
Hugs from Alice and Abbie too.
11:51 am on July 22nd, 2012
Kat got pug kisses! I wonder what secrets Rio told Kat about upcoming mission?
Rose: The Smoochers are sleeping in this morning. Belle Starr will tell you that someone—me—kept them up all night with sneezing and sniffling. I will admit it, I couldn’t resist petting KatDog, Masquers. Allergies be damned.
12:10 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Wolfie and Mary: Sorry about your losses. Take care.
12:29 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Mary, Thank you for checking in. Our thoughts are with you. So sorry about Riley. It is never easy when they have to leave us.
Barb’s nephew Scott has an appointment for his dog Bella to help her cross over tomorrow. She is an 11 year old Lab who is very sick. Scott is 35 and not married. Bella has been a constant in his life the last 10 1/2 years, as the girl friends have come and gone. She has been his best girl, so he is having a really hard time with his decision. We all know that he has no choice, but it is still so very hard.
12:56 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Barb: Sorry about Scott’s Lab.
1:08 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Wolfie and Mary, what a week of ups and downs for you. A joyful wedding which brings memories of a brother lost. And then the loss of one of your babies. We hope you are at least feeling better physically and are completely recovered from your surgery.
Purrs and prayers to comfort you.
Barb, we feel so sorry for your nephew. Never an easy decision but often the only one to be made. Please tell him how very sorry we all are but that Bella will have many to welcome her at the bridge.
C.Hobbit, just think…you could be raising future Snowhook team members!!!!

Oh, and WOW!!! Admin and Spence are TWINS!!!!
1:20 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Fuming!… I think there is actually smoke coming out of someone’s ears right now…wheeze!…All of us were woken up seriously early AGAIN this morning by her mother crash banging around. She acts like she is the only one who lives here early in the morning EVERY STINKIN’ WEEKEND….snort!… Week days, she is quiet as a mouse all morning long…sniff!… I think something snapped in my friend’s brain this morning though. I have never seen her so mad. She left for a really long walk without us, thank-dawg. When she came back she picked a huge bunch of chili peppers to roast and make green chili with. …heh!… After picking the chilis she left to get groceries – this is all on one small cup of very bad cawfee mind you…grunt!….Back from groceries she found all her chilis had been RUINED! Her mother decided to start the grill and roast them herself. Well, they are NOT roasted – they are limp but not roasted. Maw says it’s because the grill is low on gas. So now she is trying to BOIL them….wheeze!… I’m just a pug, but I don’t think that is going to work….heh!heh!….Anyway, my friend has seriously had it with her mother NOT Waiting for her to be around when she attempts these things plus all that stuff about being woken up at 5:00am every freakin’ weekend…..grump!….Yup, that is smoke coming out of her ears…heh!
1:23 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Yeeep!…I sure hope she doesn’t find out I was at the Pint and Pugs last night…snort!…Or whatever it is called…heh!…I had a great time drinking bowl after bowl of micro-brew….burp!
1:38 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Recipe!…Oh and get this. Her mother started making the green chili and is now asking my friend what she puts in it….grunt!…My friend said, “I don’t remember, its been so long since I was allowed to make it that I just don’t know anymore.”…snort!…We are downstairs and leaving her mother “to it”…wheeze!

Just got back from a couple of days in Boston for the law library convention. Being a dedicated Yankees fan, I was in no hurry to go back, but had to admit that Boston is a hell of a city. As soon as we got the car docked, I went right up the road to see McGreevey’s, which is owned by one of the Dropkick Murphys, so Donna reluctantly took my picture standing in front of it. I realized that Boston is so lucky to have a band like this that is the unquestioned heart of the city. There is no band that really represents New York.

Hey, y’all! That’s a great photo of the Terrific Threesome! I’m glad the Really Big Shew is going well.
Mary: Congratulations and condolences to you and yours. That sounds like a very tough week with bits of wonderful thrown in. I think you need to put your feet up and have a little “me” time now.
2:35 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Mary, after a week of highs and such lows, enjoy some nice boring today. Dainty licks to Wolfie on the loss of his housemate.
Rebecca, thanks for the explanation of ‘the kennel’. I had visions of C Harris sharing digs with Annabelle.
2:36 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Barb: Thoughts and prayers for Scott and Bella. The decision to help Bridger pass was difficult but necessary and humane. Scott is showing love with his decision.
Rio: I hope you an your friend can salvage the day and enjoy some time in the cool basement.
2:40 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Wolfie, Hugs to you and your family. We missed you this past week.
Barb, We really feel for your nephew. It seems to be even more difficult when you only have one forever friend living with you.
Our prayers and hopes in this case are always that Scott will in time adopt another best friend.
Rio, I don’t think boiling the green chili will work, but you already know this. Some people do put them in the oven on a cookie sheet to roast them.
3:07 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Wolfie — Please take extra good care of your mom and dad for the next few days. It’s been quite a week for them, and they could use the extra loving attention. Very sorry about the loss of your buddy too.
Barb and Maggie — Thoughts and prayers for Scott and the difficult decision he faces. I know how much he loves Bella and Bella loves him, but true love sometimes requires the most difficult of decisions to be made.

Mollypop’s Mom: That was a great link to all those icy and snowy scenes. Very funny since I wasn’t involved.
Wolfie: Congratulations to your neice. I’m sure her father was floating some kisses down along with the butterfly kisses to your neice and her husband. Sympathies to your family on the loss of your father in law as well as Riley.
Barb and Maggie: Scott is in our thoughts while he says so long to his companion, Bella.
C.Harris: Hmmmm. Have you caught the Iditarod bug. Is there a Hobbithook Kennel in your future?
Rio: Five in the morning!? Thinking about that is making me very sleepy. Naptime cometh.
4:00 pm on July 22nd, 2012
ok, I am getting ready to order the Kindle One Touch.
Question? Can anyone come up with a good reason why I need to order a cover for it with a light in it? I know it needs a cover, but does the cover need a light in it?
Dawson, The Users Guide for it is on Amazon’s website. Mom is calmer about that now.
4:00 pm on July 22nd, 2012
HobbitHook Kennel! It has a ring to it!
4:19 pm on July 22nd, 2012
SiberH, look at you…Tech Dog!
Warm, loving thoughts to Scott. It is very hard to make this decision when you’ve only had one long-time forever friend.

Rebecca, it is very hard to resist the charming Masquers. Steve sneezes a lot too, but …..oh, we’ll!
4:26 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Rio, I am sorry to hear that your friend and youse guys are having such a difficult time. I really hope things get better.
Sasha up top!

HobbitHook. Yes, it is a winner!
Thanks everyone for all your kind thoughts.

SH: You don’t need a light because the screen is back-lighted….as long as it’s the touch model.
4:50 pm on July 22nd, 2012
SH: oberondesign.com has some very nice covers, though they are more expensive than the Amazon covers.
4:53 pm on July 22nd, 2012
SH: I just checked and Amazon covers (leather) are not much less than Oberon Design.
5:11 pm on July 22nd, 2012
I’m not sure about his mom, but SiberH has become quite the techno dog. Leather covers…could be a good substitute for a chew treat in a pinch.
5:12 pm on July 22nd, 2012
And SiberH has become quite the goumet too….posting recipes and offering cooking advice. Next he will be posting pictures!
5:31 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Gus: it is great to see your name alongside BooBear’s. As far as CyberH posting pictures, do we dare to dream? I do.
5:35 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Thanks Stover for the advice on the light and I’ll look at the website you suggested.
Hey you guys, I am still a backwoods Husky.
Rio, I am almost afraid to ask this but when you get back to the blog, what happened with the green chili?
5:38 pm on July 22nd, 2012
You can take the husky off the trail, but you can’t take the trail out of the husky.
5:46 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Rio, After all the hard work of growing the peppers and picking them at just the right time, it is ashame that Mama didn’t keep her hands off. She could be trying to help, but more likely she just want to be in control and run the show. Gotta be hard for your friend.
6:09 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Cool!…Someone had to make the green chili after all because someone else was in bed with a bad back…grump!…It smells like a pot o’ fire, but she says it has no flavor…sniff!…Anyway, here is what someone made while she was trying to cool off in the basement…heh!…I have no idea what she is going to do with him now.
6:11 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Rio, your friend is unbelievable! I love penquins!! Maybe something for the winter auction? How long did it take to make?
6:31 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Rose!…I slept through the whole thing…yawn!…I don’t know how long it took to make…sniff!…All I know is I woke up when I heard the pop-top of a Miller Light crack open…heh!heh!
6:43 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Outfits!…When the Padres wear those stupid looking fatigues and moss green helmets they look Stooopid…snort!…There is no other word for it…Stooopid!..grunt!
6:49 pm on July 22nd, 2012
The penguin is adorable.
Mom and dad took a leave of their senses and are hosting two foreign exchange girls from China, ages 14 and 16. For two weeks, starting on Wednesday. I like the idea because they love our kind, but mom is wondering what the heck she was thinking.
6:50 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Barb, tell your nephew that our hearts will be with him tomorrow.
7:16 pm on July 22nd, 2012
We just got back from that sad excuse for a “picnic”. We are happy to hear from Mary and Wolfie, but oh boy what a roller coaster of emotions you have been thru tthis week. Our thoughts and love are with you both.
Barb, we are grateful that there are good caring people like your nephew that love our kind so much that they are willing to make the very difficult decisions.
We are very tired from this weekend’s activities, and so happy to be back home. We will be needing a nap soon it seems.
7:18 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Puguin! Rio, your friend is very talented. I can’t decide what I like better—the eyes, the wing or the beak. I like it all!
8:02 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Hi All, I’m back to post some pictures. Don’t worry I won’t post all 700 of them. (I’m not kidding). Yes, I took 250 and Rob took the rest. He had his camera set on the sports thing so when he put down the button it would click pictures until he let it up. Great way to get the pictures of her in the water and running.
I leave for 2 days and youse guys get interesting. As in the Chinese curse. Please know I have read all the comments, but I am totally exhausted. Those of you who need hugs and licks from the Pack consider yourself hugged and licked. Those of you who need a shower of drool, consider yourself wet.
And Terry? Make sure there’s no punctuation in the title of your pictures. For some reason those don’t get posted.
Next? Pictures.

We LOVE the picture of GLAD standing hip high in the water. Gorgeous!!
8:31 pm on July 22nd, 2012
I think GLAD would look good in any photo. She is beautiful.
I wonder if Beau is upset about the chili situation after all the care he took to water them with his special blend.
8:35 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Awesome Dawson, Gibs! will be winging your way tomorrow. Both the writer and the artist signed it for you.
B.Stover, GLAD has picked the dog for you. She will be painting soon.
That’s it for me folks, TTFN
9:14 pm on July 22nd, 2012
hmmm. I thought I had posted awhile back but it seems to have disappeared…
Gorgeous pictures of GLAD in her lovely dress in unusual and beautiful settings. The Newfs are trashing the dress!

At Tenzing’s request —I didn’t put up much of a fight—the fire is stoked in the woodstove. It is raining and I can’t seem to get warm.
9:52 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Awesome photos, Melanie. Hard to choose a favorite with so many great ones.
We have to say good night too. Sweet dreams. Hope all are well and that Amalia and Leonard had a good show today.
9:57 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Good night, Barb. I hope you’re making progress with packing.
10:09 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Cold!…grunt!…That seems impossible that someone is cold and starting fires…sniff!…Everybody here is hot under their collars…snort!…Beau puked up his supper which made my friend even madder so she took us on a walk…grump!…Now everyone is hotter and Beau is hungry and my friend is mad and who knows what her mother is…heh!
10:16 pm on July 22nd, 2012
I guess we know how Beau feels about the chili situation.
I wonder if we will hear from BearSpiritDog and Masquers tomorrow.
10:41 pm on July 22nd, 2012
What beautiful photos!
10:42 pm on July 22nd, 2012
SiberH!…If you are still awake someone wants to know if when you roast chilis in the oven, do you use the broiler on them?…snort!…I would imagine this is the only way to get that really high heat…sniff!…We are totally out of gas for the grill and her mother will not let anyone but her son replace the tank…grunt!
10:49 pm on July 22nd, 2012
I’m awake, Rio. I do not know the answer to that question. People have always used the word, “oven”, when talking to me about it. I have no idea what they set the temp of the oven at. I’m a big help.
I only know how to do it on the gas grill.
10:57 pm on July 22nd, 2012
SiberH!…Oven!…sniff!..Thats no help – I will have to google it tomorrow. Are you watching the Angles vs Rangers game right now?…heh!
11:00 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Well, the Really Big Shew is over – and it was well named! Beautiful weather, nice crowd, good location. It was all grand.
There was one tiny detail.
When you do shows, you know that before packing out, a visit to the restroom is a good idea. That way, bending and packing and lifting aren’t nearly as much of a challenge. So, there was a regular parade of show folks heading in one direction at about 5:30. Only the restrooms were all locked up tight. And there were no alternatives. Oh dear.
It was very interesting to watch everyone packing out.
But all in all it was great.
Melanie – lovely pictures, lovely GLAD.
Wolfie – hugs, hugs and more hugs coming to you.
Barb – it is so hard to say goodby to a friend , but thank goodness we have the ability to free our beloved companions from pain.
Siber – next thing we know, you will be building web sites, you techno doggie you
Rio – well carpola! And we were going to come have green chili with you
And now, exhausted show people are climbing into warm soft beds. Even without baseball toys, we are sure that sleep will come.
Good night all, and thanks again for all your support!
11:03 pm on July 22nd, 2012
One last thing
Rio – you can roast chilis in the oven by using the broiler. You have to turn them just like you do on a grill
11:07 pm on July 22nd, 2012
Mad!…Its not the green chili she is still mad about – it is the Weekend Balony that goes on eary in the mornings…sniff!…Someone has had it UP TO HERE with that crap…grunt!
Shew!…Glad Stinky Mama had a great Shew!…snort!…At least it was a good weekend for someone!…gruffle!
11:07 pm on July 22nd, 2012
No, Rio, Not watching the game…am falling asleep.
Do google the green chili oven thing. I am pretty sure it is the oven and not the broiler. I can try to make a couple of phone calls tomorrow with the green chili oven people to find out how they do it. (If I can find them at home).
Yes, I will do that, but it may take me from 24 to 48 hours to find these people.
until tomorrow
night all
11:12 pm on July 22nd, 2012
T&G just said you can use the broiler. That sounds like it would work.
Glad the Royals’ had a great show and are home safe.
night again
